National cultural centers play an important role in strengthening interethnic relations in society. They serve to build mutual respect and cooperation between different ethnic groups, preserve cultural diversity, and develop interethnic integration. These centers strengthen interethnic dialogue by organizing events such as national holidays, art and culture evenings, and scientific and practical conferences. This article describes in detail the importance of national cultural centers in society.

In diverse societies, individuals tend to trust coethnics more than non-coethnics. I argue that identification with a territorially defined nation, common to all ethnic groups, reduces the degree to which trust is ethnically bounded. I conduct a “lab-in-the-field” experiment at the intersection of national and ethnic boundaries in Malawi, which measures strength of national identification, experimentally manipulates national identity salience, and measures trust behaviorally. I find that shared nationality is a robust predictor of trust, equal in magnitude to the impact of shared ethnicity. Fu

This paper discusses ethno-religious sentiments and national integration in Nigeria. Today, Nigeria is characterized by deep cleavages along ethnic, religious and political lines. Political and ethnic imbalances exist among and between the various states or ethnic groups that make up Nigeria. These imbalances arose from the nature and character of the post colonial Nigeria State. Thus, the decision which was made by Nigerians prior to independence to become a Republic from Britain required that Nigerians will be integrated with one another for the purpose of peaceful coexistence, co-sharing of

One of the contentious issues affecting national integration in Nigeria is ethnic politics. An ethnicity is a potent tool for mobilizing access to power and resources in Nigeria. It has not only affected nation-building but has also constituted security and governance challenges threatening national integration. Despite different measures adopted to foster national unity among different ethnic groups, primordial sentiments pervade the political system, festering like a malignant tumour with associated prognosis.
