The rules of coordination according to the EU regulation 883/2004 acquire their meaning especially in context of payment of the family benefits to another state of the EU – i.e. when children of the employed parent do not live in the same EU member state, in which the parent is employed. As a matter of principle, family benefits including the child allowance, belong to the employee or the self-employed person according to legislative standard and amount in his or her country of employment, regardless the residence of family members.
