Abstract:
According to this article, there is an analysis of museum thematics in the letters of M. Sikorsky in the 70's. of the XX th – at the beginning of XXI cent. (on the basis of the stock collection of the National Historical and Ethnographic Reserve "Pereyaslav"). There are comparative and historical-chronological methods used here, that allowed to make a comprehensive study of important scientific issues were applied. The main purpose of the study is to cover the formation of museums in correspondence with M. Sikorsky with figures of culture and art, scholars, museum workers and educators in the second half of the twentieth centur - at the beginning of the XXI th century, and the important role of the museum ascetic in the creation and development of new museums. In particular, the focus is on the creation of museums "Classics of Jewish Literature of Sholom Aleichem", "Museum of peaceful exploration of space", "Museum of Science and Technique", and letters that M. Sikorsky wrote and received. A certain number of letters from the personal archive of M. I. Sikorsky related to the history of the creation and activity of the museum complex in Pereyaslav-Khmelnitsky, in the funds of the National Historical and Ethnographic Reserve "Pereyaslav", were discovered. Also there some data on the pages of his life, public, professional path are revealed, and his contribution to the development of the museum business in Pereyaslavl region are described. It is shown that M. Sikorsky belongs to the number of prominent figures of Ukrainian culture and museum affairs, and international community are interested in his personality and significant museum and scientific achievements. This interest in the personality of M. Sikorsky and his significant achievements in the field of ethnicity preservation is widely and clearly reflected in his correspondence with foreigners and foreign museum institutions and foreign scientists and intellectuals.

The National Museum of Women in the Arts was established in Washington in 1981 to make known the achievements of women in the visual arts. Its Library and Research Center plays a central part in the Museum’s essentially educative role, providing information on art by women primarily by means of one of the largest specialised collections of materials on women’s art. This includes extensive archival files and a number of special collections. Ongoing projects include the compilation of a database on women artists, an inventory of works of art by women in private and public collections, and an index to women artists documented in group exhibition catalogues. The activities of the Library and Research Center demonstrate how this and other art libraries can counteract the neglect of women in the arts.

Abstract:
Monumental and museum work in Ukraine in 1960-1970's of XX century. characterized by a wave of mass interest in Ukrainian culture and the spread of the progressive idea of creating ethnographic museums of a new type – open-air museums, commonly called scans. The first such museum in Ukraine was the Museum of Folk Architecture and Life in the Middle Dnieper region in Pereyasla, Kyiv region, which is one of the richest treasures of original folk architecture and life of the inhabitants of the Dnieper villages of the 19 th – beginning оf the 20 th. The museum is a part of National historical and ethnographic reserve «Pereyaslav». This project had no precedents in Ukraine, so the path to the realization of this idea was difficult and long. Foreign experience in creating open-air ethnographic exhibitions was especially useful, as the museum practice of Ukraine still lacked theoretical knowledge, polished methodology, clear principles of museum studies, international standards, and good work experience. The approaches of Pereyaslav museums to this new, methodically and practically not developed business, were creative and original. The experience of its founders was useful for creating other museums of folk architecture and life in Ukraine. The article examines the history of the Pereyaslav scansen. Different conceptual approaches of its founders are analyzed. The proposed article deals, first of all, with the scientific controversy between the director of the Pereyaslav-Khmelnytsky State Historical Museum M.I. Sikorsky and public figure E.F. Ishchenko regarding the definition of the type of museum, its name, thematic structure, exposition content, landscaping and other issues. Scientific discourse also had its positive sides. The controversy that arose between the founders allowed both sides to consider true, logical ideas in the theory of each of them. Scientific discourse also had its positive sides. Between 2010 and July 2015, a group of researchers at the Department of History and Philosophy of Science, University of Cambridge and the National Maritime Museum were engaged in an Arts & Humanities Research Council-funded project “The Board of Longitude 1714–1828: Science, innovation and empire in the Georgian world”. The project team included a dedicated Public Engagement Officer whose role was to engage audiences with the outputs of the research project. The National Maritime Museum celebrated the 300 th anniversary of the 1714 Longitude Act with a major exhibition, Ships, Clocks & Stars: The Quest for Longitude, which told the story of the 18th century quest for longitude, alongside a series of longitude-themed events. To commemorate the same anniversary, NESTA launched the 2014 Longitude Prize, a challenge to find a solution to today’s equivalent of the longitude problem, with the problem chosen by a public vote. Using these two examples as a case study, I explore how history of science helps science communication organisations engage people with science, and vice versa.

In this article, I take a close look at the objects collected over the last 200 years from the indigenous people of the Upper Rio Negro, northwest of the Brazilian Amazon, that were part of the ethnographic collection of the National Museum of Rio de Janeiro. Examination of these objects allows us to explore the main characteristics of the ethnographic archive of the museum, as the Upper Rio Negro collections were connected to different topics associated with indigenous societies and histories in Brazil, including enslavement, forced displacement, religious conversion, and indigenous territorial, artifactual, and cultural knowledge. This article also highlights the professional commitment of Brazilian anthropology to amplifying indigenous voices over the course of the history of the discipline, and by doing so, it pays homage to the women and men whose work built the National Museum collections.

Abstract:
Abstract Objectives Thinness and overweight/obesity are prevalent among women of reproductive age in India but there is limited evidence on the burden and predictors of this during pregnancy and post-partum. We estimated prevalence and risk factors for thinness and overweight among pregnant and recently delivered women (RDW). Methods We used India's National Family Health Survey (2015–2016), including 16,153 pregnant women <20 weeks of gestation and 19,430 RDW of 2–6-month-old infants. All women were classified as severe thin (ST), thin (TH), overweight (OV) or obese (OB) (body mass index, BMI <16, <18.5, ≥23 and ≥25 kg/m2, respectively), using cutoffs for Asian populations. Logistic regression was used to examine associated factors (including socio-demography, hygiene and sanitation, antenatal health services and diet) with those outcomes. Results Barely 40% of women were of normal BMI. ST, TH, OV/OB and OB were seen in 2%, 20%, 25% and 13% respectively among pregnant women, and for RDW, they were 2%, 21%, 24% and 13%. Factors associated with a lower odds of ST and TH among pregnant women and RDW included higher wealth quintile (adjusted odds ratios, AORs ranging from 0.58–0.63 for highest quintile), higher education (AORs: 0.64–0.81), age group ≥25 y (AORs: 0.58–0.83), and improved toilet facility (AOR 0.81). Multiparous pregnant women had higher odds of TH compared to primiparas (AORs: 1.24–1.31). Factors associated with OV and OB among pregnant women and RDW were belonging in higher socio-economic group (AORs: 1.34–1.53), higher wealth quintile (AORs: 1.56–8.49), age group ≥25 y (AORs: 2.73–5.09), urban residence (AOR 1.16–1.36), and having higher education (AORs: 1.44–1.60). Among RDW, receiving supplementary food and health and nutrition education increased odds of TH (AORs: 1.15) and reduced odds of OV and OB (AORs: 0.83–0.87), but this is likely attributable to selection bias in program use. Conclusions TN and OV/OB affect 1 in 5 pregnant women and 1 in 4 RDW in India. Socio-economic factors, sanitation, parity, education and age influence TN and OV/OB. Better diet and physical activity estimates are needed to understand OV and OB in this population. Given the high burden of both forms of malnutrition, a policy focus on healthy weight gain is essential. Funding Sources UNICEF; Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (via POSHAN).

Abstract:
Demographic research is mainly aimed at analysing the diff erences between marriage and birth rates in urban and rural areas. Th ere is much less investigations which study the particularities of these demographic processes within the big cities. The special status of the capital city reinforces the interest of researchers to it. However, the capital city is oft en considered as particular district of the country and compared to other regions or provinces which may include urban and rural areas. Th e purpose of the proposed paper is to fi nd out the peculiarities of marriage and fertility in Kiev and other capitals of some countries of Eastern Europe on the background of the general characteristics of these processes (national level and urban area level), to identify similarities and diff erences between them. Th is research presented fi rst revealed common and specifi c characteristics of marriage, divorce and fertility in the capital cities of Eastern European countries. Th e study used such methods of scientifi c knowledge as comparison, analysis, generalization, graphical method. Demographic yearbooks of Poland, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Belarus, Ukraine for 2009-2018, and statistics from statistical sites in these countries and Slovakia were used for the detailed analysis. Th e important conditions for using statistical information were free access to it and the same methodology for calculating demographic indicators involved in the analysis. Among the common features of the development of demographic processes in the capital cities of the selected countries our attention was attracted by aging of marriage and motherhood which rate exceeded level in the whole country. Th e share of marriages aft er 30 years, the share of children born to women aged 35 and over among all births, the mean age of mothers at the birth in the capitals were considerable higher than the corresponding national indicators. Diff erences between capitals in the dynamics and structure of the processes of formation and dissolution of marriages are largely caused by national characteristics of the marital-family behaviour. In our study we question the universality of the well-known statement that big cities tend to have lower fertility rates comparison to other areas of country. Th e fertility level in some capitals could be both below and above the national average level.

In 2017 the National Museum – Czech Museum of Music obtained a rare set of memorabilia for the singer Emmy Destinn (1878–1930) from the estate of her friend Hilda Schueler-Mosert (1888–1965). The two women met in ca. 1905, and they remained in contact until Emmy Destinn’s death. Hilda Schueler, a German sculptress and painter, was forced to flee Germany with her husband in 1942 because of their Jewish origins. After the war, they settled in Sweden. The set of material contains letters, programmes and posters, newspaper clippings, photographs of the two women, and phonograph records. The items were donated by Hilda Schueler’s grandchildren, who live in Sweden.

Abstract:
Evaluation of: Tabár L, Vitak B, Chen TH et al. Swedish Two-County Trial: impact of mammographic screening on breast cancer mortality during 3 decades. Radiology 260(3), 658–663 (2011). In the 1980s, the periodic invitation of women aged 40–69 years for mammographic screening in the Swedish Two-County Trial showed a strong 30% reduction in breast cancer mortality. The result of 2–3-yearly mammographic examinations has persisted throughout the long follow-up of three decades. Through the richness of the collected and verified data, the trial has also demonstrated a substantial and absolute reduction in mortality risk. For each 414 women screened for 7 years (approximately four screening examinations), one breast cancer death was prevented. Transferring these outcomes to, for example, the national program of the UK, for every 1000 women aged 47–73 years attending the 3-yearly screenings (nine screening examinations) at least five to seven breast cancer deaths would be prevented. In recent follow-up papers by the Swedish trial group, the major human cost of screening (false-positive outcome, occurrence of interval cancer, overdiagnosis and radiation exposure) were judged to be in balance with the accurately demonstrated mortality benefit.

Abstract:
The superb botanical illustration collection of Amgueddfa Cymru– National Museum Wales in Cardiff, Wales, has developed through bequests, donations, and selective purchases. Numbering more than 7,000 works, 15% of these are by women, including the work of well-known Victorian artists and leading contemporary artists such as Gillian Griffiths, Pauline Dean, and Dale Evans. In particular, the Cymmrodorion Collection is the most prestigious collection, containing illustrations dating from the 18th century and featuring works by Elizabeth Blackwell, Jane Loudon, and Sarah Drake. Using this and other collections from the museum, this article examines the contribution that women artists have made to the field of botanical illustration by referring to the lives of these women and considering their motives, whether they pursued botanical illustration out of financial necessity, out of scientific curiosity, or to allay boredom. The article further examines the social restrictions and prejudice that many of these women had to overcome.

Abstract:
Aim. To study the incidence and mortality of lung cancer (LC) in the Tomsk region and to assess the economic damage. Materials and methods. The population-based cancer registry data collected at Tomsk Regional Cancer Center and the Federal State Statistics for 2007-2017 were used. The extensive, intensive and standardized variables were analyzed. Results. LC was the 4-th most common cancer, comprising 10.4% (10.1% in the RF) of all cancer cases in the Tomsk region in 2017. It ranked as the first most prevalent cancer for men (17.0%) and the 6-th for women (4.7%). The LC incidence rate decreased by 19.6%, reaching 29.5±1.3 per 100 000 (р=0.0149). It decreased in men (р=0.0006) but was stable in women. In 2017, the lifetime risk of cancer was higher in the Tomsk region than that in the RF, being 7.3% for men and 1.5% for women. LC was the most common cause of mortality from cancer for both sexes (18.9%), being the most common in men (28.1%) and the 4-th most common in women (8.0%). The mortality rate was higher in men than in women (55.6 versus 6.0; р=0.0012). In 2016, the total loss of the life potential in men amounted to 8.4 thousand, for women - 2.5 thousand man-years. Economic damage in the form of conditionally non-produced national income was growing and in 2016 amounted to 263.7 million rubles. Conclusion. Epidemiological analysis of LC in the Tomsk region indicates the relevance of improving the anticancer struggle with the development and implementation of ideas aimed at increasing the cancer literacy of the population and the alertness of primary care physicians, the formation and monitoring of risk groups, the timely routing of patients with suspected cancer.

The Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester has recently acquired the Electricity Council archives, a body of material of national scope and a major resource for researchers into the electricity industry. The Electricity Council had previously transferred its collection of electrical artefacts to the Museum to be used in the development of the National Electricity Gallery, opened in March 1986, which it co-funded with Greater Manchester Council. In order to illustrate the content and value of these archives, this paper focuses on the promotion of the domestic use of electricity during the inter-war period, a choice of subject which relates to a strong area of the Museum's object collections. The first section outlines the acquisition and scope of the archives and describes the records therein of the Electrical Association for Women (EAW) and the British Electrical Development Association (EDA); the second section uses the relevant records of the EAW and the EDA to investigate the chosen theme, with particular reference to women's involvement and perceptions of women.

Abstract:
Abstract Background: There is growing concern among policy makers with respect to alarming growth in smoking prevalence among women in the developing countries. Methods: Using disaggregated data from five nationally representative surveys: Global Adult Tobacco Survey 2010, National Family Health Survey-III (NFHS-III) 2004-2005, NFHS-II 1998-1999, National Sample Survey (NSS) 52 nd Round 1995-1996, NSS 50 th Round 1993-1994 we analysed female smoking trend from 1993-2009. Tobacco use among females was monitored for almost two decades focusing on gender, literacy, and state-specific trends among respondents aged >15 years. Results: Smoking use among women has doubled from 1.4% to 2.9% (P < 0.001) during the period 2005-2010. The prevalence of smoking increased with decrease in per capita State Gross Domestic Product and literacy status for both men and women. Conclusion: As the overall smoking prevalence grows, female smoking is growing at a faster rate than smoking among males, which is an emerging concern for tobacco control in India and requires the attention of policymakers.

Abstract:
In recent years, more and more digital technologies and innovative concepts are applied on museum education. One of the concepts applied is “Serious game.” Serious game is not designed for entertainment purpose but allows users to learn real world’s cultural and educational knowledge in the virtual world through game-experiencing. Technologies applied on serious game are identical to those applied on entertainment game. Nowadays, the interactive technology applications considering users’ movement and gestures in physical spaces are developing rapidly, which are extensively used in entertainment games, such as Kinect-based games. The ability to explore space via Kinect-based games can be incorporated into the design of serious game. The ancient world map, Kunyu Quantu, from the collection of the National Palace Museum is therefore applied in serious game development. In general, the ancient world map does not only provide geological information, but also contains museum knowledge. This particular ancient world map is an excellent content applied in games as teaching material. In the 17th century, it was first used by a missionary as a medium to teach the Kangxi Emperor of the latest geologic and scientific spirits from the West. On this map, it also includes written biological knowledge and climate knowledge. Therefore, this research aims to present the design of the interactive and immersive serious game based installation that developed from the rich content of the Kunyu Quantu World Map, and to analyse visitor’s experience in terms of real world’s cultural knowledge learning and interactive responses.

Abstract:
The involvement of women in formal politics in Indonesia began to be taken into account since the enactment of the Electoral Law No. 12 In 2003, on the General Election. In Act specified 30% representation of women from all political parties in the parliamentary candidates in national and local level. In Riau Province, the representation of women in parliament has increased. but have not been able to meet the 30% quota for women. This is due to the attitude of the political parties have tended masculine. Undertake research to uncover the commitment of political parties to the nomination of women as members of the legislature in an attempt realization of law no. 12 of 2003 in the province of Riau. This study is a qualitative study, obtained by interview and observation to the board of DPD Golkar, PAN, PKS and the female candidates of political parties elected to the Legislative Council Pekanbaru period 2009-2014. The findings show the phenomenon of “halfhearted” of the party leadership to implement article 65, paragraph 1 of Law No. 12 in 2003 and are not genderresponsive policies, most party leaders still view women as “second class citizens” who do not deserve to sit in the first sequence number representing the party

Abstract:
This paper is based on the sociological research — “Self-preservative behavior among students” — conducted directly by the authors with the participation of the students. Using random selection, we have interviewed 1200 students ranging between ages 1824 from various universities of Tbilisi, inasmuch as 70 % of the higher educational institutions are located in the said city. Th e interview was conducted by the questionnaire method. Th e questionnaire included open and closed questions, and they were filled out with the help of trained interviewers. One of the significant factors of state national security and economic stability is population’s health. It determines the demographic potential of a country on a macro level. Therefore, it is important to study the self-preservative behavior of the population. Our research is the first sociological study of Georgian students in the new century. It has enabled us to study the student youths’ values, motives, attitudes, norms of behavior in terms of their health and to identify risk factors affecting the same. Th e research has confirmed that in terms of health, there exist masculine and feminine models of behavior among the student youth. Women are prone to value their health less, care for it more and tend to have a higher life expectancy disposition than men, whose model of behavior is sharply opposite than that of the women. As for the men, they value their-health more and care for it less than the women. Furthermore, there emerged mistakes made during the upbringing of youth in terms of establishment of the culture of self-preservative behavior. Those students who developed habits of caring for their health in childhood stand out when evaluating their health, have a highly developed understanding of the importance of health, excel at caring for their health and avoid bad habits. Respondents from both sexes understand well that a constant care for health has a positive impact on life expectancy, however for the ma jority of students healthcare has a medical character rather than a prophylactic one. A certain portion of them visit a doctor aft er their condition becomes worse or start self-medication. A person’s attitude toward life expectancy is viewed as an individual’s long-term necessity which entails a desire for a long life and appropriate self-preservative behavior. Th e research has con firmed a direct correlation between self-appraisal of one’s health and the parameter of anesti mated life expectancy. Th e respondents reckon that the lower the self-appraisal of their health the less the estimated life expectancy. In addition, caring for health has a big impact on the presumption of life expectancy. Th e indicator of an ideal, desired and estimated life expectancy is high among those respondents who always care for their health.

Abstract:
Through the prism of the latest, modern review of the scientific and creative biography of Ukrainian archaeologist, historian, ethnologist, publicist, museologist, vice-president of the All-Ukrainian Archaeological Committee (VUAK) of the All-Ukrainian Academy of Sciences (VUAN) Serhiy Spyrydonovych (Svyrydovych) Hamchenko his personal archive, which are stored in his personal fund (f. № 3) of the Scientific Archive of the Institute of Archeology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NA IA NASU) (Kyiv, fund № 3) are researched, analyzed and rethought. Also information is represented (in a broad framework of timeless polylogue of scientists and epochs) about the activities of a tireless scientist from other official archives, manuscript collections, numerous publications of well-known experts in history, archaeology and source studying. Emphasized that archive fund of S. Hamchenko consists mostly of a collection of scientific manuscripts related mainly to archaeological research of sites located in Ukraine and Russia, which are devoted more to organization and conduct of archaeological excavations. There was also found S. Hamchenko’s epistolary, official and report notes on the organization of museum study in Ukraine, works of the All-Ukrainian Archaeological Committee, notebooks, official documents, photographs and other «visual» materials, collections of books, magazines and newspapers, etc. It is confirmed that the significant share of these source studies «papers» has not been published to date. Also the little-known archival materials of S. Hamchenko, which contained in the Scientific Archive of the St. Petersburg Branch of the Institute of Archeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IA RAS) were processed. On the base of studying of archival and historiographical sources an attempt is made to truthfully, comprehensively, holistically reproduce the socio-biographical aspects and creative features of the chronicle of the life and scientific activity of the extraordinary scholar. It was paid considerable attention to specific, sometimes controversial issues of scientific and source «biography», primarily important prosopographic nuances of adequate, final clarification of the exact dates and places of S. Hamchenko’s birth and death (as well as the establishment of its medical cause). The problem-thematic range of scientific interests of S. Hamchenko is extended from the Paleolithic, Neolithic, Bronze Age to the times of Kyivs’ka Rus’. The scholar have discovered 45 sites of Trypillia culture on the Southern Bugh river, conducted various archeological excavations mainly in Eastern and South-Eastern Volhyn’, Podillya, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Dnipropetrovs’k, Kharkiv, Odessa, Bessarabia regions and other places of Ukrainian and Russian territory (Gulf of Finland area near Sestrorets’k near St. Petersburg). It is confirmed that documents and archival materials related to the biography of S. Hamchenko is an integral part of the national cultural heritage and serve as an important authentic, factual source for a full, holistic study of the multifaceted history of archeology, ethnography, ethnology and museum studies in Ukraine at the end of the XIX th century – in the first third of the XX th century. Key words: Serhiy Hamchenko, history of archeology, museum studies, ethnography, local history, ethnology, All-Ukrainian Archaeological Committee (VUAK), epistolary, intellectual community.

Abstract:
Kitchen space and kitchen equipment as interpreted by Estonian museums Recent exhibitions focusing on kitchen spaces – “Köök” (Kitchen) at the Hiiumaa Museum (September 2015 to September 2016), “Köök. Muutuv ruum, disain ja tarbekunst Eestis” (The Kitchen. Changing space, design and applied art in Estonia) at the Estonian Museum of Applied Art and Design (February to May 2016) and “Süüa me teeme” (We Make Food) at the Estonian National Museum (opened in October 2016) – are noteworthy signs of food culture-related themes rearing their head on our museum landscape. Besides these exhibitions, in May 2015, the Seto farm and Peipsi Old Believer’s House opened as new attractions at the Open Air Museum, displaying kitchens from south-eastern and eastern Estonia. Compared to living rooms, kitchens and kitchen activities have not been documented very much at museums and the amount of extant pictures and drawings is also modest. Historical kitchen milieus have for the most part vanished without a trace. Estonian museums’ archives also contain few photos of kitchens or people working in kitchens, or of everyday foods, as they were not considered worthy of research or documentation. The article examines comparatively how the museums were able to overcome these challenges and offer new approaches to kitchens and kitchen culture. The analysis focuses on aspects related to material culture and museum studies: how the material nature of kitchens and kitchen activities were presented and how objects were interpreted and displayed. The research is based on museum visits, interviews with curators and information about exhibitions in museum publications and in the media. The new directions in material culture and museum studies have changed our understanding of museum artefacts, highlighting ways of connecting with them directly – physically and emotionally. Items are conceptualized not only as bearers of meaning or interpretation but also as experiential objects. Kitchens are analysed more and more as a space where domestic practices shape complicated kitchen ecologies that become interlaced with sets of things, perceptions and skills – a kind of integrative field. At the Estonian museums’ exhibitions, kitchens were interpreted as lived and living spaces, in which objects, ideas and practices intermingle. The development of the historical environment was clearly delineated but it was not chronological reconstructions that claimed the most prominent role; rather, the dynamics of kitchen spaces were shown through the changes in the objects and practices. All of the exhibits brought out the social life of the items, albeit from a different aspect. While the Museum of Applied Art and Design and the Estonian Open Air Museum focused more on the general and typical aspects, the Hiiumaa Museum and the National Museum focused on biographical perspective – individual choices and subjective experiences. The sensory aspects of materiality were more prominent in these exhibitions and expositions than in previous exhibitions that focused on material culture of Estonian museums, as they used different activities to engage with visitors. At the Open Air Museum, they become living places through food preparation events or other living history techniques. The Hiiumaa Museum emphasized the kitchen-related practices through personal stories of “mistresses of the house” as well as the changes over time in the form of objects with similar functions. At the Museum of Applied Art and Design, design practices or ideal practices were front and centre, even as the meanings associated with the objects tended to remain concealed. The National Museum enabled visitors to look into professional and home kitchens, see food being prepared and purchased through videos and photos and intermediated the past’s everyday actions, by showing biographical objects and stories. The kitchen as an exhibition topic allowed the museums to experiment new ways of interpreting and presenting this domestic space. The Hiiumaa Museum offered the most integral experience in this regard, where the visitor could enter kitchens connected to one another, touch and sense their materiality in a direct and intimate manner. The Open Air Museum’s kitchens with a human face along with the women busy at work there foster a home-like impression. The Applied Art and Design Museum and the National Museum used the language of art and audiovisual materials to convey culinary ideals and realities; the National Museum did more to get visitors to participate in critical thinking and contextualization of exhibits. Topics such as the extent to which dialogue, polyphony and gender themes were used to represent material culture in the museum context came to the fore more clearly than in the past. Although every exhibition had its own profile, together they produced a cumulative effect, stressing, through domestic materiality, the uniqueness of history of Estonian kitchens on one hand, and on the other hand, the dilemmas of modernday consumer culture. All of the kitchen exhibitions were successful among the visitors, but problems also emerged in connection with the collection and display of material culture in museums. The dearth of depositories, disproportionate representation of items in collections and gaps in background information point to the need to organize collection and acquisition efforts and exhibition strategies in a more carefully thought out manner and in closer cooperation between museums.

Objective. To share the experience of endovascular interventions in pregnant women and women in labor, gained by national team “obstetric cardiology”. Materials and methods. The algorithm of medical support was presented, including the cases of cardiosurgical interventions performance , for pregnant women with critically severe pathology of the heart, which was based on actual recommendations and own experience. Into the clinic of Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery during 6.5 yrs (12.2013 - 05.2020) 145 women-patients were admitted to hospital, in 79 of them cardiosurgical intervention was done. Endovascular cardiosurgical operations were performed in 36 patients, and the hybrid - in 2. Urgent and emergency endovascular interventions were performed in 17 women-patients with various terms of pregnancy (15 - 35 weeks) and in 2 women in labor. Conditionally-elective cardiosurgical interventions were performed in 17 women-patients on various terms of pregnancy (as a rule, in II trimester) and in 2 women in labor. In 34 patients the interventions were performed with fetus in utero. Early and late maternal mortality was absent. One «programmed» loss of the fetus have occurred on 12-th week of pregnancy with the inborn heart failure. Modern views on impact of ionized radiation and contrast substances on fetus were presented, and the methods of lowering of their potential harm. Conclusion. There was trusted, that while applying strict indications for performance of endovascular interventions during pregnancy, these methods of diagnosis and treatment are more secure in comparison with «open» operative interventions and may be performed under supervision of experienced multidisciplinary team, taking into account the pregnancy term and the fetus defense.

Abstract:
To demonstrate the health and well-being benefits of facilitated arts engagement with women veterans, we draw on a key practice-based example from the Australian National Veterans Arts Museum (ANVAM), an organization with expertise in collaborative art-making with veterans. We outline ANVAM’s framework and the processes art therapists use to create facilitated art exhibitions. We discuss how veterans’ involvement with art-making has therapeutic benefits, can contribute new knowledge on health and well-being, and convey nuances of gender-specific experiences. We briefly outline the trend in evidence from academic literature on arts-health research with veterans and the sparse creative research with women veterans to highlight the potential of art-based methods in veteran health and well-being research, given growing numbers and the expanding roles of women in defence. Arts-health research using diverse methods has yielded promising results in this field. As such, interdisciplinary, co-designed, and strength-based art-based research with women veterans can add to knowledge co-creation on this topic.

Abstract:
The inhabitants of Lazio, similarly to those of other Italian regions, have been historically exposed to the detrimental effects of an inadequate intake of iodine. The latter is a micronutrient essential for the biosynthesis of thyroid hormones (TH). Iodine deficiency is responsible for a number of adverse effects on human health known as iodine deficiency disorders (IDD), the most common of which worldwide are goiter and hypothyroidism. In order to reduce IDD, a national salt iodination program was started in Italy in 2005. In this article we reviewed the available data regarding iodine intake in the Lazio population before and after the introduction of the national salt iodination program, in order to evaluate its efficacy and the eventual problem(s) limiting its success. On the whole, the information acquired indicates that, following the introduction of the program, the dietary iodine intake in the Lazio population is improved. There is, however, still much work ahead to ameliorate the iodine prophylaxis in this region. In fact, although a generally adequate iodine intake in school-age children has been observed, there are still areas where a mild iodine insufficiency is present. Moreover, two independent epidemiological surveys on pregnant women evidenced a low urinary iodine concentration with respect to the reference range conceived by the World Health Organization. These findings demonstrate the need for greater attention to the iodine prophylaxis by health care providers (i.e., obstetricians, gynecologists, pediatricians, etc.), and the implementation of effective advertising campaigns aimed at increasing the knowledge and awareness of the favorable effects of iodine supplementation on population health.

Abstract:
The Imperial War Museum was formed in 1917 to be both a memorial to and a place of record of every type of British and Commonwealth activity that took place during the First World War. It was a total war that created massive social upheaval. Women played an increasingly active role as the war progressed, and the Women's Work Sub-Committee was established to record the female contribution. It was active primarily between 1917 and 1920 and gathered exhibits, uniforms, documents, publications, photographs, and artwork and commissioned models by female artists to demonstrate what women had done. This period coincided with the peak activity of women's work and its rapid decline, and there was a determination to ensure that what had happened would be permanently remembered. The resulting collection is unique in capturing an intense, brief period when women worked together for the common good in a national emergency. How it has been utilized, studied, and displayed over the past century is informative. After 1918, women may have reverted to domestic roles, but there was never any doubt that they were an important resource, and in 1939, there was considered no need to systematically collect material about women, as they were factored into the war effort from the start.

Abstract:
Abstract This article describes a pilot project in museum based literacy learning that took place in Windsor, Nova Scotia in the autumn of 1999. The author coordinated the project in close consultation with a local literacy practitioner. The Windsor study was part of a national project undertaken by the Canadian Museums Association and funded by a SSHRC Strategic Research Grant Initiative. The project attracted four female participants, although one left before completing her research for personal reasons. The women chose objects as topics for study, and were given assistance with research and documentation techniques. As a discourse involving traditions of expressive behaviour and worldview, folklore plays an important role in literacy education. Specifically, this discussion examines the interactions between the participants, their chosen topics, and the museum environments, and underscores the need for an understanding of value, class, gender and contexts of use in an appreciation of literacy. A review of relevant literature is included, focusing on ethnographic studies of literacy with particular emphasis on recent work in Atlantic Canada. Outcomes of the study and future directions for this kind of community based, qualitative research are also discussed.

Abstract:
Recent attention to the question of preservation and exhibition of video games in cultural institutions such as museums indicates that this media form is moving from being seen as contentious consumer object to cultural heritage. This empirical study examines two recent museum exhibitions of digital games: GameOn 2.0 at the National Museum of Science and Technology in Stockholm (TM), and Women in Game Development at the Museum of Art and Digital Entertainment, Oakland (MADE). The aim is to explore how games are appropriated within such institutions, and thereby how they are configured as cultural heritage and exhibitable culture. The study uses actor-network theory in order to analyse heterogeneous actors working in conjunction in such processes, specifically focusing on translation of games and game culture as they are repositioned within museums. The study explores how games are selectively recruited at both institutions and thereby translated in order to fit exhibition networks, in both cases leading to a glossing over of contentious issues in games and game culture. In turn, this has led to a more palatable but less nuanced transformation of video games into cultural heritage. While translating video games into cultural heritage, the process of making games exhibitable lost track of games as culture by focusing on physical artefacts and interactive, playable fun. It also lost track of them as situated in our culture by skimming over or ignoring the current contentious nature of digital games, and finally, it lost track of games as being produced and experienced in a particular context, or games of culture.

Abstract:
This article summarizes the earlier research aimed to determine the scope of closely related lectionaries for the Kazan Gospel of the 14 th century. For this purpose, the methodology of linguistic, textual, and structural markers selection was applied. At the first stage, a comparison was made on a number of similar manuscripts regarding the most striking deviations from the standard text invariant in the Kazan Gospel (that is, language markers, which are errors, typos, text gaps and inserts, rare lexical variations, grammatical nuances, etc.). Then we compared more voluminous text fragments representing selected readings of the annual circle of varying degrees of significance (textual markers). Based on these comparisons, a group of textually similar manuscripts was studied from the point of view of their lectionary structure (according to structural markers). As a result, the hypothesis about the affinity of the Kazan manuscript with the full lectionaries of the State Historical Museum collection (the Synodal collection, no. 65), and of the Russian National Library collection (the Pogodins collection, no. 17), was confirmed. This result helped to determine more accurately the place of creation of the Kazan Gospel (probably Kirillo-Belozersky monastery), as well as to analyze the reasons for the discrepancies between the three manuscripts. The data obtained made it possible to single out a group of manuscripts belonging to one tradition within the framework of textology of Slavic lectionaries of the Mstislav type, which may be useful for their further research.

Abstract:
Abstract Both the photograph and digitization are often defined as democratizing forces. But neither exists outside the system of power dynamics that structure art, history, and cultural heritage. This article uses postmodernist theorization of knowledge hierarchies in the archive developed by archival scholars Terry Cook and Joan Schwartz to examine the gendered nature of metadata and data connected to digitized photographic material available on the platforms of the three major Swedish memory institutions: the Royal Library, the Nordic Museum, and the National Archives. Given that digitized photographs require the addition of machine-readable data and metadata to be findable, this information demonstrates the extent to which digitization staffs have consciously thought about the visibility of gender in their online collections. The research questions of this article are thus twofold: (1) to what extend have Swedish memory institutions embraced a postmodern approach to the archive in their photography digitization projects, and (2) has this approach resulted in the greater visibility of women-oriented material? The findings indicate that Swedish institutions have adopted postmodernist thinking about archival flexibility to varying degrees, but none have thought thoroughly about increasing the visibility of woman-oriented material.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to a topical problem - the appearace of new and non-traditional icons of the Theotokos in Russia in the epoch of the Romanovs dynasty. The author of the article raises and studies the question concerning the origin of a new iconography of the Theotokos “Cover us with the shelter of Thy wing” in the end of the XVII-th century. At the turn of XVII-XVIII centuries there is a new iconography of the Theotokos in the Russian culture, which later received the name “The Protecting Veil”. The earliest Russian icon of this iconography is the image of the Theotokos “Cover us with the shelter of Thy wing” of the beginning of XVIII century, made by the master of the Armory chamber, from the collection of the название Museum of Moscow Theological Academy (Church-Archeological Room). The icon-painter of the Kremlin Armoury used an engraving of Ukrainian origin. In the fifth edition of the collection of legends of Holy Dimitry of Rostov “Bedewed fleece” (Chernigov, 1696), an engraved image of the Theotokos “Cover us with the shelter of Thy wing” was published, which are close to the icon of the Museum of Moscow Theological Academy. The almost identical iconographic copies of this engraving are the icon “Cover us with the shelter of Thy wing” of the second half of the XVIII century from the collection of the Historical Museum, the medallion from the collection of the National Museum in Lviv, the miraculous image of the Virgin, painted on the wall in 1700-1711 in the Romanian monastery Govora.

Abstract:
Aim. Optimal balance between training intensity and recovery is of particular importance for elite swimmers in order to improve their results. The aim of this study was to record the dynamics of training distress, performance, and excretion of cortisol and cortisone in urine during six weeks of training in elite swimmers. Materials and Methods. Twenty-four participants (10 women and 14 men) from the national swimming team of Bulgaria took part in this study, with an average age of 18.7 ± 3.78 years. Training distress (TDS) and urine concentration of cortisol and cortisone were evaluated every two weeks. In total, the measurements were taken on the 1-st (T1), 14-th (T2), 28-th (T3) and 42-nd days (T4). Anthropometric measurements were also taken at T1 and T4, and body fat percentage and muscle mass percentage were calculated by skinfold methods. Results. The TDS score at T4 (6.92 ±7.15) was significantly lower than this at T1 (14.96 ± 10.63) and T2 (15.21 ± 12.44). The concentrations of cortisol at T3 (35.9 ± 47.7) and T4 (35.0 ± 24.2) were also significantly lower than that registered at T1 (82.7 ± 62.8). The concentration of cortisone did not show any significant differences across T1 to T4, but the sum of cortisol and cortisone urine concentration was significantly lower in T3 and T4 vs T1. Conclusion. The significantly reduced cortisol concentration in urine in T4, as well as the sum of the concentrations of cortisol and cortisone, were in line with the reduction of the TDS score in T4.

Abstract:
Objective. To assess the demographics, risk profiles and outcome indicators of one of the few government-supported programs on pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) in the English-speaking Caribbean. Methods. Chart review of all persons enrolled into the national PrEP Program from its inception on March 1st 2018 to November 30th 2019, with a descriptive summary analysis of the data extracted. Results. Of the 134 persons enrolled into the program most identified as men who have sex with men (67.9%), followed by men who have sex with men and women (14.9%); there were 20 persons, mostly men (85%), in sero-discordant relationships. PrEP uptake was 96%; however, the continuation rate (continuing for three consecutive months after initiation) was 61.5%. Continuation status for many could not be ascertained due to loss-to-follow-up. PrEP-associated toxicity prevalence was 2.3%, although side-effects occurred in 52% (mostly gastrointestinal). HIV positivity during the study period was 1.5%. Conclusions. Uptake of Barbados’ national PrEP Program is excellent but fairly low continuation rates and the HIV positivity rate indicate the need for improved pre-ART initiation education and follow-up processes. Service utilisation is mainly by men who have sex with men, and provision expansion to other civil society partners and private practitioners, as well as increased public awareness could increase access by other high-risk groups.

Abstract:
Moshe Feldenkrais developed his influential philosophy and physiology of movement from a background in engineering, and a concern to remedy a knee injury sustained in a game of soccer. Though he scorned psychoanalytical approaches to the remedying of poor or painful postures, he had great faith in the capacity of the body, through the brain, for self-correction and self-healing. Joanna Rotté met Feldenkrais shortly before his death in 1985, in his eightieth year, and talked to him during a nine-week course he was leading in his own methodology. Joanna Rotté now teaches Script Analysis and Voice and Movement at Villanova University, outside Philadelphia. Her travel memoir Scene Change, a theatre diary from Prague, Moscow, and Leningrad, was published by Limelight in 1994, and her performance piece, Death of the Father, was produced in the spring of 1998 at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C.

Abstract:
In the early 17th century, French and Portuguese colonizers and Jesuit priests settled in the state of Maranhão and made contact with the Guajajara, an ethnic group that lived along the margins of the Pindaré River. The Guajajara maintained contact with Brazilian national society over the centuries, including with Brazilian admixed populations, and with African slaves that flocked towards the region from the 18th century onwards. The present study investigates the origins of this admixture using mitochondrial genetic variability. The bones of 12 individuals investigated, which are currently part of the collection of the National Museum, were tested for genetic diversity. aDNA was extracted by the phenol-chloroform method and by DNA IQ (Promega, Madison, WI, USA). Amplification of the HVS I region was performed by PCR, followed by direct sequencing using the Big Dye kit (Life Technologies, Foster City, CA, USA). This region was found to represent haplogroups of Amerindians (A, C, and D) and Africans (L, L1b, L1c, and L3). The presence of African haplogroups in Guajajara bones from as early as the 18th century is consistent with historical and anthropological data, suggesting the admixture with Africans and/or Afrodescendants. Therefore, this study demonstrates that women with African haplogroups were introduced into the Guajajara population.

Abstract:
The purpose of this article is to study the methods for manufacturing, wearing and ways of use of the Bashkir chest decorations in the end of the 20th — beginning of the 21st c. The research area includes the Republic of Bashkortostan and neighboring regions where the Bashkirs live. Information for neighboring regions was collected using the Internet and social networks: VKontakte, Instagram, YouTube. The chronological framework of the study covers the end of the 20th — beginning of the 21st c., that is the time of a renaissance of traditions and the growth of interest in them. Field materials collected by the author during the expeditions in 2010–2019 to different districts of the Republic of Bashkortostan, archival materials, museum collections of Ufa and Internet resources where old and modern photos with Bashkir chest decorations are posted became the source base of the study. The article uses general scientific methods: comparative-historical, and the method of scientific description and analysis. During the collection of field materials, we relied on ethnographic methods, such as in-depth interviews, observation, and photo fixation. To study the current state of tradition, monitoring of social networks was used. Different types of female bibs used to be popular among Bashkirs — selter, sakal, hakal, yaga, muynsa, almaizy and others. They were very highly valued and used as essential part of the bride dowry. Chest decorations made of silver coins and real corals were very expensive. Until the end of the 19th — beginning of the 20th c., chest decoration retained its ethnic, social, and sacred functions. In the beginning of the 20th c., the traditional culture was undergoing a difficult period. During the hunger years of the 1920s, the period of the creation of collective farms, many Bashkirs were forced to surrender their jewelry for nothing. In the postwar years, very few people still had their authentic national decorations. In the end of the 20th — beginning of 21st c., on the wave of mobilization of ethnic identity and revival of interest in traditions, the bib as an ethnic marker became popular again. It has been revealed that there are five basic trends of manufacturing of the Bashkir bibs: from historical reconstructions to highly stylized pieces, from everyday to festive. Nowadays they are worn both for beauty and designating the ethnic identity, traditions, culture, demonstration of national Bashkir ownership. The initial spiritual and guarding function of chest decorations has now been lost.

Abstract:
The circumstances surrounding the compilation of many seventeenth-century English keyboard manuscripts remain unknown. The most concrete information exists for the early-seventeenth-century repertory, and scholars have also identified several copyists from sources dating from the end of the century. Without considering the question of repertory, the focus on the earlier manuscripts can be explained in part for the following reasons. A few volumes are associated in some way or another with famous composers (for example, Thomas Tomkins and his autograph Conservatoire National de Musique (in Bibliothèque Nationale), Paris, (F-Pc) MS Rés. 1122), and others are noteworthy for their expansive contents (Fitzwilham Museum, Cambridge MS Mu 128, the famous ‘Fitzwilliam Virginal Book‘). Others are well known because their copyists are familiar personalities, such as British Library, London (Lbl) RM MS 23.1.4 and F-Pc MS Rés. 1185—both connected with Benjamin Cosyn, organist of Dulwich College and conspicuous for his knowledge of John Bull's music. However, the copyists of most mid-century keyboard manuscripts remain unidentified. Concrete information concerning the copyists of a few sources exists, but most identified copyists are unknown men or women—keyboard music in the hand of a prominent musician is quite rare.

Abstract:
This article represents the first attempt in Ukraine of complex interdisciplinary investigation of the history of Australian film development in the XX-th century in the context of Australian culture. Analysing films in historical order the peculiarities of each decade are taken into consideration. The periods of silent films, sound films and colour films are analysed. The best film productions, their film directors and prominent actors are outlined. Special attention is paid to the development of feature films and documentaries. The article concentrates on the development of different film genres beginning with national historical drama, films of the first pioneers’ survival, adventure films. It is shown how they contribute to the embodiment in films of the main archetypes of Australian culture, the development of Australian identity. After World War I and World War II war films appear to commemorate the courage of the Australian soldiers in the war fields. Later on the destiny of the Australian women white settlers’ wives or native Australians inspired film directors to make them the chief heroines of their movies. A comparative analysis of films and literary primary sources underlying their scripts is carried out. It is concluded that the Australian directors selected the best examples of Australian national poetry and prose, which reveal the historical and social, cultural and racial problems of the country's development during the twentieth century. The publication dwells on boom and bust periods of Australian film making. The governmental policy in this sphere is analysed. Different schemes of film production and distribution are outlined to make national film industry compatible with the other film industries of the world, especially with the Hollywood. The area of a new discipline - Australian Film Studios - is studied as well as the works of Australian scholars. It is clarified in what Australian universities this discipline is taught. It is assumed that the experience of Australia in this sphere should be taken by Ukraine.
