Abstract:
Information security and associated vulnerabilities have long been a pressing challenge, from the fundamental scientific backstage to the frontline across the most diverse sectors of society. At the tip of the iceberg of this problem, the citizens immediately feel that the reservation of privacy and the degradation of the quality and security of the information and communication on which they depend for the day-to-day activities, already of crucial relevance, are at stake. Naturally though, the challenges do not end there. There is a whole infrastructure for storing information, processing and

Beginning in 2013, commercial air tour operators who conduct tours over units of the national park system have been required to report their air tour activity to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Park Service (NPS). The purpose of this report is to provide a high-level quantitative summary of the data provided by air tour operators for flights conducted in 2021, 2022, and 2023. The NPS and FAA use these data to implement requirements of the National Parks Air Tour Management Act of 2000, as amended, including the identification of parks where an air tour management pla

Abstract:
Many African countries have made significant progress in digitalising tax administration. Recent research has shown promising evidence around the impact of digital solutions, such as electronic filing, on tax compliance and revenue generation. Very little, however, is known about how digitalisation could strengthen local tax administration, and how subnational government levels could benefit from broader national digitalisation reforms. The case of Cameroon illustrates how local tax administrations can struggle to benefit from technology. The digital tax policy (DTP) was adopted in Cameroon in

Channel hydrology, hydraulics, and sediment composition are key variables to calculating vertical and horizontal channel movement. A variety of methods are available for estimating channel bed scour, bank erosion, and channel migration with fewer available to predict avulsion potential. These methods vary in complexity from simplified empirical and theoretical equations to complex multi-dimensional models that may be used to understand potential hydrotechnical threats to pipelines and other structures. This study explored spatial patterns of overflights at Olympic National Park (OLYM). Overflights were analyzed from July 27th, 2021 to January 2nd, 2023 using Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) data with a total of 525 days of data. Data were collected using data loggers that were deployed at Blyn (located outside of OLYM), Hurricane Ridge, and Hoh Rain Forest. The first phase of analysis focused on all overflights and found a high concentration of overflights above the northeastern portion of OLYM, and definitive flight corridors were identified across the park. Governments in low-income countries struggle to collect and use population information adequately. For tax administrations, all of which require comprehensive data about the tax base, the lack of accurate information is a crucial challenge. This challenge often appears intractable for African tax administrations, which operate in a context of high informality. Cross-agency data-sharing agreements and inter-institutional system integration, primarily related to national identification (ID) schemes, seem to offer a solution. These can potentially improve registration functions, facilitate identi

"Despite the water-rich nature of the southeastern United States (US), extended and intense dry periods intermittently occur across the region leading to reduced soil moisture levels and surface water supplies. These drought periods affect the landscape at different scales, with agriculture experiencing impacts earlier than other sectors. State and national entities may use field-based reports of impacts to crops and pasture - in conjunction with onsite and remote sensing data products - to monitor, respond, and provide relief to agricultural producers during drought. Therefore, it is crucial
