The purpose of this study is to explore the nature of firm–bank exchange. Using a qualitative research method and existing theory, by capturing transaction-based and relationship-based elements, I examine ten firms and eight different bank services important for the exchange between the firms and their banks. The study indicates that the exchange is more complex than previous theories have proclaimed, since the nature of the exchange differs when central elements of different bank services are compared. There are bank services, such as bank account and loans, which have a high degree of both t

Doutoramento em Engenharia Florestal e dos Recursos Naturais - Instituto Superior de Agronomia. Universidade de Lisboa<br>Natura 2000 is the pan-European network of protected areas and classifies different habitat types, including shrub-grasslands as of conservation interest. The use and management to which these habitat types are subject potentially affect their conservation status and the ecosystem services they generated, including regulating services as carbon storage or wildfire prevention. Wildfire prevention is an important ecosystem service in the Mediterranean region and management pr

Abstract:

Abstract:
Fire is a vital part of the taiga ecosystems and as the amount of prescribed fires increases, it is also likely that public awareness and interest in fire increases and thereby also the need for nature interpreters who can perform guided tours in these areas. This report aims to provide guidance for nature interpreters as to what information they should convey while guiding groups of people in taiga forests where fire has occurred. The methods used to study this were: 1) Interviews with conservationists who work with forest fire in some way on what information they think is important to convey

Abstract:
Geographers researching cinema have predominantly been interested in how geographic meaning is constructed and negotiated within film, but have been less productive in accounting for how these constructs are received by viewers. Using the method of observational online ethnography, I therefore investigate how fans in online reviews have interpreted the nature/society binary in the film Dersu Uzala. Working from a social constructionist view of nature I begin by deconstructing the binary as it appears in Dersu Uzala before proceeding to illustrate the way this constitutive absence is made up fo

Abstract:
Written literature has evolved significantly over the centuries. The typical novel of the twenty-first century is different in form from the novel of the mid-nineteenth. Modern novels tend to have less descriptive exposition and are less apt to follow previous conventions of omniscient narration. What factors have influenced this change? At the end of the nineteenth century, for the first time in recorded history, a new art form emerged, one that was based on the technological achievement of the recorded moving image. This study examines to what extent, and in which ways, the new art form, cin

Abstract:
The aim of this practice-based screen arts doctoral thesis is to investigate how cinematic representations of nature evoke an aesthetic of the sublime. The thesis answers this research question both through experimental film practice and critical analysis of theoretical and artistic texts. Informed by concepts such as the sublime, transcendence, the metaphysical imagination, critical realism and phenomenology, and the films Werner Herzog and Andrei Tarkovsky, this thesis investigates an organic transcendental film style.
