Abstract:
In de jaren 1840 cultiveerde de jonge Vlaamse beweging een sterke band met de Duitse cultuur. Deze bijdrage belicht welk beeld de flaminganten in deze periode hadden van de Duitse gebieden en van de Duitstalige cultuur, met name de Duitse literatuur. Een analyse van de Duitsgezinde tijdschriften De Broederhand en Het Taelverbond toont dat er onder de Duitsgezinde flaminganten een sterk geïdealiseerd beeld leefde van een groen en ruraal Duitsland. Het Duitsland dat in de twee periodieken geschetst werd, is een land van ‘dichters en denkers’, waar muziek en literatuur hun ‘ware’ volkse karakter hebben weten te behouden. Dit authentieke karakter maakte de Duitse cultuur superieur aan met name de Franse. Vlaanderen diende zich volgens de twee tijdschriften te spiegelen aan haar oosterburen in het levend en ‘oorspronkelijk’ houden van haar taal en geschiedenis.__________ “Here, nature and culture walk hand in hand”. Images of German culture in the early Flemish movement (1844-1848). In the 1840s, the Flemish movement cultivated a strong connection to the German culture. This paper discusses the image of the German territories and German culture, in particular German literature, amongst the Flemish nationalists. An analyses of the pro-German periodicals De Broederhand and Het Taelverbond shows that these nationalists had a very romantic image of Germany as rural and characterized by unspoiled nature. The two periodicals sketch an image of a country where everybody is a poet or a philosopher. In the eyes of the Flemish nationalists, German music and literature managed to keep its ‘true’ folksy character. The authenticity of German culture made it superior to in particular French culture. According to the two magazines, Flanders has to follow the example of the Germans in keeping alive its language and past.

Abstract:
This essay questions the increasing call for broad conservation strategies to sustain and support biodiversity in the Swiss forest. Three arguments build the basis for this discussion: 1) Forests, together with the alpine mountain zones, represent the most extensive ecosystems in Switzerland. As a consequence of the continuous expansion of the forest area, biodiversity of forest organisms is not generally at risk. 2) Endangered species are less frequent in mountain forests than in lowland forests. 3) Populations of different species groups have been subjected to large, natural fluctuations over the last 3000 years. The biodiverse forest model, which is aspired today, resembles more an intensively or even overused forest of former times than a natural or even pristine forest. I conclude that future forest management should focus on the preservation of natural processes rather than biodiversity. Since Switzerland lacks large contiguous zones of natural forests, existing incentives should be more effectively used to achieve this goal.

Abstract:

Syftet med vår uppsats är att ta reda på förskolebarns tankar om vad de uppfattar att natur är och vilka upplevelser de har av naturen. Med upplevelser menar vi såväl deras erfarenheter av som deras känslor för naturen.I vår undersökning har vi utgått från kvalitativa intervjuer, där 18 förskolebarnen intervjuats parvis av två intervjuare. För att kunna nå förskolebarnens tankar var intervju en lämplig metod eftersom man får en djupare bild av barns tänkande kring naturen. Vi lät också förskolebarnen måla en teckning i samband med intervjun för att ytterligare ge de ett sätt att beskriva sina tankar. I bearbetningen av empirin försökte vi tolka innehållet utifrån barnens perspektiv, samt se variationer i barns beskrivningar. Vi är också inspirerade av fenomenografin när vi söker förskolebarnens beskrivningar av naturbegreppet.Resultatet av vår studie visar många olika beskrivningar av vad natur är för förskolebarn, samt att de har varierade kunskaper om naturen. Förskolebarnen har också olika upplevelser av naturen där de upplevde utevistelser utan mål eller syfte som mindre roliga. Erfarenheterna beskriver barnen utifrån sig själva, familjen och förskolan.

Abstract:
Kandidatprojekt i Arkitektur 15 hp. Skolan är placerad på en plats kallad Mälarängen söder om Stockholm. Tomten ligger mellan områdena Mälarängen, Bredäng och Fruängen och har ett stort naturområde aldelles utanför tomten. Själva tomten har en höjskillnad på 7 meter och har en orörd skolgsdel med tallträd, orörd  mossa och en höjd, resten av tomten är berarbetad med asfalt och gräs. Mitt fokus i projektet är att bevara den vilda naturen som finns på platsen och genom arkitektur framhäva den. Jag vill även att naturen ska vara närvarande inne i byggnaderna och att gränsen mellan inne och ute ska suddas ut. Därför har har skolan stora fönsterinsläpp med utblick över natur. Längs huset går också ett trädäck där man har möjlighet att flytta ut undervisningen utomhus om man så vill. Tomten består utav olika uterum som byggnaderna ramar in; dammen, bäcken, klippan och skogen som har olika karraktärer. Tanken i skolan är att man ska kunna röra sig mellan dessa olika rum och byggnader.
Candidate Project in Architecture 15 hp. The school is located in a location called Mälarängen south of Stockholm. The plot lies between the Mälarängen, Bredäng and Fruängen areas and has a large natural area of ​​aldelles outside the plot. Bakgrund: Tidigare forskning visar att vistelse i natur kan bidra till förbättrad hälsa och att det finns ett samband mellan människors aktivitetsnivå, psykiska hälsa och tillgång till naturmiljöer. Idag startas allt fler verksamheter både inom privat företagande och inom offentlig regi där natur används som en resurs för hälsofrämjande och förebyggande arbete. Eftersom fenomenet är ganska nytt saknas beskrivningar av området. Syfte: Studiens syfte var att undersöka hur natur och hälsofrämjande arbete bedrivs av olika aktörer i Sverige. Metod: Kvalitativ ansats valdes som datainsamlingsmetod. Sex djupintervjuer genomfördes med aktörer som arbetar i verksamheter inom ramen för natur och hälsofrämjande arbete. Vid intervjuerna användes semistrukturerad intervjuguide. Intervjuerna analyserades med innehållsanalys. Resultat: Resultatet visade att aktörerna använde natur i verksamheten i form av rum, som redskap och som symbol. Aktiviteterna i verksamheterna spelade en komplex roll då både aktiviteternas symboliska värden och de konkreta aktiviteterna i sig användes som metod. Aktörerna upplevde ett starkt personligt välmående i sitt arbete och ansåg att det är en växande bransch med goda möjligheter till att bedriva verksamhet även i framtiden. Konklusion: Området natur och hälsofrämjande arbete är ett brett område och bedrivs av skiftande verksamheter i fråga om aktiviteter, erbjudanden och inriktningar. Studien visar att områdets pedagogiska inriktningar skiljer sig från tidigare pedagogiska inriktningar inom liknande områden genom att fokusera på hur natur kan användas som ett hälsofrämjande verktyg.
Background: Previous research shows that nature can contribute to health development and shows a correlation between people's level of activity, mental health and access to nature environments. Today we see a growing number of new operations in both the private enterprise and the public sector where nature is used as a resource for health promotion and prevention. Since the phenomenon is fairly new, descriptions of the area are poor. Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate how the nature and health promotion work are carried out by different actors in Sweden. Method: Qualitative approach was chosen as the data collection method. Six interviews were conducted with actors working in the field of nature and health promotion. The interviews used semi structured interview guide. The interviews were analyzed by content analysis. Results: The results showed that the respondents use nature as a resource in their business operations, both as a room, a tool and as a symbol. The activities played a complex role since they both had a symbolic value and was used as a concrete tool. The actors however felt a strong personal wellbeing at their work and that it is a growing industry with good opportunities to conduct business in the future. Conclusion: The area of ​​nature and health promotion occupations is a broad field and involves diverse activities regard to activities, offers and specializations. The study also shows that the area's pedagogical orientations, differs from previous educational approaches in similar areas by focusing on how nature can be used as a health promotion tool.

Abstract:
The aim of this study is to describe how nature is portrayed in swedish poet and critic Aase Berg’s two earliest poetry collections, Hos rådjur (1997) and Mörk materia (1999), and how it relates to notions of humanity, culture and civilisation. The concept of ”nature” is problematized in a short survey of how it has been used by and critizised in ecocritical literary theory, which is used as the main theoretical framework for this survey, with an emphasis on selected theoretical concepts by Donna Haraway. As a methodological starting point, ”nature” is tentatively defined as ”that which does not let itself be subsumed under the human, culture or civilisation”, and this definition is contrasted with how the concepts are handled in the texts.The investigation shows that the relationship of nature to the human is a fundamental theme that provides a structure for both poetry collections. In Hos rådjur, wild nature takes the shape of a ”raw” animal that seems to threaten the human characters. In Mörk materia the threat to humanity comes from matter itself, matter that is dark and unruly. The nature/culture relationship is complex and continuously evolving, with several different and mutually exclusive possibilities being explored in the poems. Berg’s poetry has often been characterised as transcending boundaries, and metamorphoses and dissolution of boundaries between humans, animals and other organisms are abundant in the two poetry collections. Despite this, the study demonstrates how dualistic notions of nature and culture, body and spirit, are upheld throughout the texts.

Abstract:
Stressrelaterad psykisk ohälsa har blivit ett växande problem för folkhälsan. Stress, som är en normal reaktion, är i sig inte farlig för hälsan men vid långvariga fysiska och psykiska påfrest-ningar och brist på återhämtning från stress leder det till olika stress- och sjukdomstillstånd. Ur ett folkhälsoperspektiv är det viktigt att lyfta fram förebyggande och hälsofrämjande faktorer mot stress, vilket möjligtvis naturen kan inneha. Syftet med denna studie har varit att belysa de möjliga restorativa och återhämtande effekter av naturen som förebyggande resurs mot stressrelaterad ohälsa. Frågeställningen är: På vilket sätt kan naturen användas som resurs för återhämtning från stress? Metoden i detta arbete är en systematisk litteraturstudie baserad på nio vetenskapliga artiklar. Resultatet visar fyra olika teman. Dessa teman är: naturens åter-hämtande effekter från stress, naturens restorativa effekter, naturens effekter utifrån olika typer av miljö samt naturens effekt i samband med olika aktiviteter. Studien visar på att närhet och tillgång till naturen är betydelsefulla faktorer till människors potentiella återhämtning från stress. Det handlar huvudsakligen om att ha tillgång till en stressfri miljö som kan tillgodose (utifrån dess egenskaper) den enskilda individens aktuella behov (utifrån dennes hälsa och välbefinnande) och inte lika stor betydelse ifall det är en skog eller ett grönområde. I samband med stressfulla livssituationer har mängden lättillgänglig natur från hemmet och tidsramen för utevistelsen visat på positiva samband. Naturen kan ha både fysiologisk och psykologisk inverkan på människan som oftast är den motsatta effekten till stressreaktioner. Den positiva effekten av naturen har setts öka ju mer stressad en person känt sig innan interventionen. Ut-övandet av fysisk aktivitet (FA) i samband med natur har uppvisat en synergisk effekt och ökat FAs faktiska hälsoeffekter. Studiens slutsats är att naturen kan vara en möjlig förebyg-gande resurs mot stressrelaterad ohälsa och därför är viktig ur ett folkhälsoperspektiv, men mer forskning krävs.

Abstract:
I den här studien undersöktes olika människors upplevelse av olikatyper av natur. Upplevelserna kopplades till psykisk hälsa genomteorin om känslan av sammanhang (KASAM) och en hälsoteoriutformad av Lennart Nordenfelt (1991). Studien genomfördes med enfenomenografisk metod och datainsamling skedde i form avsemistrukturerade intervjuer med fem vuxna personer. Underintervjuerna fick deltagarna titta på bilder av sex svenska naturtyper.Efter uppvisande av respektive bild blev deltagarna ombedda attbeskriva sin upplevelse om de i tanken försatte sig i situationen sombilden visade. Intervjun bestod också i att deltagarna tillfrågades omderas upplevelse av relationen mellan natur och psykisk hälsa.Analysen av datan var tvådelad. Först identifierades femuppfattningar av natur som deltagarna gav uttryck för, dessa var:Variationsrik, Bekant, Givande, Användbar, och Inte för mig.Därefter kopplades upplevelserna till hälsa genom teorin om känslanav sammanhang (KASAM) och Nordenfelts (1991) hälsoteori.
In this study different people’s experiences of different types of naturewere examined. The experiences were tied to mental health throughthe theory of Sense of Coherence (SOC) and a health theory createdby Lennart Nordenfelt (1991). The study was conducted with aphenomenographic method and data collection took the form of semistructuredinterviews with five adult persons. During the interviewsthe participants got to look at pictures of six Swedish habitat types.After each picture had been shown the participants were asked todescribe their experience if they mentally put themselves in thesituation that the picture showed. The interview also consisted of aquestion about the experienced relationship between nature andmental health. The analysis of the data was two folded. First fiveexperiences of nature that the participants expressed were identified,these were: Varied, Known, Giving, Usable, and Not for me. Afterthis the experiences were tied to health through the theory of Sense ofCoherence (SOC) and Nordenfelt’s (1991) health theory.

Il tema della sostenibilità è un argomento tanto vasto quanto complesso. La sua comprensione risulta semplice ai più, tuttavia il termine stesso può assumere definizioni e sfumature differenti, a seconda del campo in cui viene applicato. Il concetto in sé di sostenibilità è applicabile infatti in ogni settore. Dalla politica fino all’economia, così come nell’architettura e nel design, dove ne influenza i processi sia di progettazione che di produzione. Lo sviluppo della relazione di tesi nasce dall’interesse nel fatto che in questo periodo di profondi cambiamenti sociali, ovviamente dovuti soprattutto alla pandemia globale, stiamo assistendo ad un lento processo di transizione ecologica in ognuno di questi settori. Così in questo breve saggio ho cercato di legare gli argomenti studiati e appresi durante il corso di laurea con il mio interesse legato al tema della sostenibilità, cercando di favorire anche in questo caso il processo di transizione ecologica nel campo del Service design. Attraverso un’attenta analisi delle criticità e tante opportunità nascoste nell’approccio user centered (a mio avviso troppo user centered), lo studio dell’influenza del design sulla vita delle persone, il comportamento umano e ovviamente il tema della sostenibilità. Tutte argomentazioni utili alla mia relazione di tesi per lo sviluppo di un nuovo approccio legato alla progettazione dei servizi. Un modello che si rifà alla filosofia esistente e già codificata del Human Centered Design. In cui alle quattro fasi del Double Diamond si aggiungono quattro nuove fasi dove all’interno dei processi di progettazione l’oggetto del pensiero non è più l’uomo, bensì la natura.

Abstract:
Den här studien undersöker kontinuiteten, vitaliteten, exponeringen och möjliga naturvårdsåtgärder i Solnas ekmiljöer. Enligt det 16:e miljökvalitetsmålet "ett rikt växt och djurliv" ska den biologiska mångfalden bevaras och nyttjas på ett hållbart sätt för nuvarande och framtida generationer. Gamla ekar har visat sig hysa en hög biologisk mångfald, men tyvärr minskar estånden av jätteträd kontinuerligt i Sverige samtidigt som föryngringen går långsamt eller i värsta fall helt avstannat. Åsikterna om jätteekarnas minskning verkar enstämmiga och bero på kontinuitetsglapp, upphörd hävd, igenväxning, plantering av gran på gamla odlingsmarker, brist på skötsel och ny bebyggelse i urbana miljöer. Kontinuiteten studerades genom att undersöka fördelningen mellan värdefulla ekar och ekefterträdare i hela Solnaområdet samt i fyra bestämda ektrakter. Kriteriet för god kontinuitet var 15 % värdefulla ekar och 85 % ekefterträdare. För att bedöma ekarnas vitalitet studerades andelen permanent döda grenar i trädkronan och för att bedöma ekarnas exponering struderades hur stor andel av trädkronan som täcktes av omgivande trädkronor. I varken hela Solnaområdet eller i trakterna observerades god ekkontinuitet. I hela Solnaområdet mår ekefterträdarna procentuellt sett sämre i samtliga vitalitetsklasser jämfört med de värefulla ekarna. För ekarnas exponeringstillstånd över hela Solnaområdet hade ekefterträdarna samma procentuella fördelning som de värdefulla ekarna när det gällde halvöppen exponering, men utöver det var ekefterträdarna jämförelsevis sämre exponerade. En viktig naturvårdsåtgärd för ekefterträdarna är att öka deras exponering, vilket kan göras med hjälp av frihuggning, slåtterhävd eller beteshävd.

Abstract:
Behovet av att vistas i naturen har under senare år blivit mer populär och stärkts av forskning om att folkhälsan påverkas positivt av ett rikt friluftsliv. För personer med funktionsnedsättning är inte naturen en självklar plats. Den är sällan fri från krav och fysiska hinder som gör en naturupplevelse mindre lämplig. Genom en hårdför politik beträffande inkluderande av personer med funktionsnedsättning i samhällets alla miljöer så bör inte tillgängligheten i naturen förbises. Det är därför relevant att genom intervjuer höra personers samtida erfarenheter och uppfattningar om naturens tillgänglighet och vilka faktorer som gör en plats i naturen en trygg miljö att besöka. För att göra naturen mer tillgänglig har även teorin om universell utformning funderats över som en möjlig lösning. Resultatet visade vissa meningsskiljaktigheter i frågan om hur tillgänglig naturen verkligen är och vad som gör den tillgänglig, men manifesterade ett optimistiskt intresse gällande universell utformning och dess möjligheter att skapa en natur för alla.
