Abstract:
The ground nut material, (including germplasm, candidate line etc) was planted at NARC in a previously sick field with the objective to check material for resistance against tikka leaf spot disease caused by Cercospora personata. A total of 44 entries were evaluated under four different sets of experiments whereas BARD-479 was included as the check. Among four candidate entries one entry exhibited 1R reaction two were 3MR compared to check which showed 7S reaction. Among the 13 entries of the International Confectionery ground nut trail 5 entries showed 1R and 5 were showing 3MR reactions whereas two entries exhibited 5MS. Among fifteen entries of NUGYT, six entries were found resistant(R), seven were moderate resistant (MR) while one entry was moderately susceptible (MS). Among thirteen entries of advance medium maturity ground nut yield trail, seven were found resistant (R), four were MR while one entry exhibited MS compared to check which exhibited S reaction. Based on this evaluation it is concluded that 18 entries have exhibited the resistance against Tikka disease whereas BARD-479 (Check) showed susceptible response under natural conditions. The lines showing 1R reaction can be used in the varietal development.

We present an experiment where natural language processing tools are used to automatically identify potential constructions in a corpus. The experiment was conducted as part of the ongoing efforts to develop a Swedish constructicon. Using an automatic method to suggest constructions has advantages not only for efficiency but also methodologically: it forces the analyst to look more objectively at the constructions actually occurring in corpora, as opposed to focusing on “interesting” constructions only. As a heuristic for identifying potential constructions, the method has proved successful, yielding about 200 (out of 1,200) highly relevant construction candidates.

Abstract:
The Dozier–Silverstein theorem asserts the almost sure convergence of the empirical spectral distribution of information plus noise matrices, i.e. perturbations of deterministic matrices whose spectral distribution converges (information matrices) by random matrices with i.i.d. entries (noise matrices). We show that a modification of the original proof given by Dozier and Silverstein allows to extend this result to more general noise matrices, in particular matrices with independent columns satisfying a natural concentration inequality for quadratic forms, matrices with independent entries, satisfying a Lindeberg-type condition (recovering a recent result by Xie), matrices with heavy-tailed entries in the domain of attraction of the Gaussian distribution and certain classes of matrices with dependencies among columns (generalizing those investigated recently by O'Rourke and containing matrices with exchangeable entries). As a corollary we obtain the circular law for random matrices with independent log-concave isotropic rows.

Abstract:
The experiment was conducted during kharif, 2021 (June–November) at Regional Agricultural Research Station, Warangal, Telangana, India to evaluate rice cultures for resistance against gall midge (biotype 4M). Screening of 200 rice cultures developed in different research stations of PJTSAU, Hyderabad was done against gall midge along with susceptible check under natural field conditions at RARS, Warangal. Susceptible check TN-1 was grown for every 9 entries and also as border rows. Observations on gall midge incidence were recorded twice at 31–34 and 58–62 days after transplanting and then percentage of silver shoots was worked out. Observations were recorded by counting the total number of plants, damaged plants, total number of tillers and total number of silver shoots. At 58–62 DAT, 90–100% hill (plant) damage and 9.72 to 21.79% tiller damage was recorded in TN-1. Gall midge incidence among test entries was ranged from 0–100% hill (plant) damage and 0–16.67% silver shoots. Among the 200 test entries evaluated against gall midge, three entries viz., RDR-2751, IBT-GM-7 and IBT-GM-36 had shown highly resistant reaction (Nil damage), eight entries viz., JGL-36147, JMS24B, KNM 12392, KNM 11596, IBT WGL-2, IBT WGL-21, IBT WGL-31 and MLT-E-K21-66 had shown resistant reaction (<1% silver shoots). Seventy-four entries had shown moderately resistant reaction (1–5% silver shoots) against local gall midge population. All the moderately resistant entries recorded >10% hill (plant) damage.

Abstract:
The 197 entries including two checks (SI-250 Resistance check and TC-25 Susceptible check) of sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) representing varied geographic and genetic diversity were tested at three diverse climatic locations of India viz., Jabalpur, Mandor and Vriddhachalam, against leaf webber and capsule. None of the screened entry was found to be free from infestation by leaf webber and capsule borer. The average plant, flower and capsule damage over the locations varied from 6.58 to 27.17, 7.80 to 23.71 and 3.33 to 15.43%, respectively. At vegetative stage, the entries SI-0018-B (6.33%) and IS-353-A (6.58%) at flowering, the entry KMR-7 (7.80%) and at capsule stage, the entries SI-0018-B (3.33%), MT-67-25 (3.65%) and RJS- 56-A (3.80%) were recorded the lowest damage. Further, the response of promising entries under artificial pest load conditions over the locations showed that the entry SI-271-B was superior to others with respect to lowest plant and flower damage while at capsule stage, the entry NIC-8510-B was superior. Under artificial pest load condition, the entries SI-271-B, NIC-9839 and MT-67-25 showed the lowest damage whereas under natural condition, the entries IS-178-C and SP-3267 were superior to others with respect to lowest damage. The feeding preference studies showed that the entries SI-271-B, IS-178-C, MT-67-25 and S-OO-17-B were least preferred by the leaf webber and capsule borer and recorded the lowest leaf area damage. Abstract:
Sinomenine, derived from Sinomenium acutum, has a chemical structure similar to morphine and shows potential for treating opioid addiction in mice. Despite claims of being non- addictive, its safety and abuse potential remain underexplored. Conditioned place preference (CPP) approach was used to evaluate sinomenine's rewarding properties. ICR mice were divided into five groups, receiving either saline, morphine (8 mg/kg), or sinomenine (50, 100, or 200 mg/kg) where each group was confined to the drug-paired compartments during conditioning phase. Alternately, mice received saline when confined in the saline-paired compartment. During pre-conditioning and post-conditioning phases, the time spent in the drug-paired compartment, the number of entries to the drug-paired compartment, and rearing behaviours to assess the rewarding properties. Mice conditioned with morphine showed a significant increase in time spent in the drug-paired compartment from pre-conditioning to post-conditioning, but no significant changes in the number of entries and rearing behaviours. For saline and all sinomenine groups, there were no significant differences in the time spent, number of entries, and rearing behaviours except for sinomenine 200 mg/kg group, which showed a significant increase in rearing behaviours indicating an increase in exploratory behaviours. This study suggests that sinomenine, at various doses, is less likely to produce rewarding effects, indicating low abuse potential. The observed increase in exploratory behaviours during post-conditioning with sinomenine 200 mg/kg warrants further investigation.

If one takes standard overviews of the history of natural science or natural philosophy as his measure, the object appearing in the title of this study would literally appear not to exist. For, apart from a few scattered encyclopedia entries — which are always of necessity rather summary in character — one searches in vain for studies on the medieval interest in the natural sciences. For the contemporary cosmologist, be he first and foremost philosopher or physicist, the Middle Ages lie in a very deep darkness indeed.

Abstract:
In the current epoch when the concept of the sustainable city is at the heart of urban development policy objectives, nature has returned to front stage. This is certainly the case with regard to the agglomeration of Lyon where, in their substantial effort to pin-point the city of today and tomorrow, the chief proponents confer a major role on the "restoration" of nature in the city. Indeed, for a long time, the presence of nature in cities was regarded as only one of several integral elements of the urban fabric, however, the emergence of ecological preoccupations in the political field has, from the 1990s, changed these circumstances: today, natural spaces constitute a predominant factor in the range of tools and actions mobilised by developers to meet the challenges of contemporary cities and to design the city of tomorrow. The question of the relationship between the city and nature covers a complex semantic field that leads to numerous investigations, which this present research attempts to answer. How and when do policies consider the role of nature in the city? At the service of whom? With what objectives? To what ends? This work is based on two case studies, each complementary to the other. The first seeks to analyse the means by which the political administrators of Lyon communicate the theme of nature to their constituents over a twenty year period: from 1989 (the election of Michel Noir to the office of Mayor of Lyon) to 2009 (under the current term of Gerard Collomb ) .The second study is applied to analyse representations made, specific to the political administrators involved, of nature within the urban milieu : the role of the heritage of nature becomes apparent, simultaneous with environmental concerns, as an effective tool to define nature in the city

Abstract:
Ces travaux mettent en lumière les problématiques actuelles auxquelles sont souvent confrontés les bureaux d'études et les ingénieurs en charge des études de risques<br>Numerous uncertainties related to the machanical interaction between rock boulders and the natural slope during block falls persist; and the forecast of such events is therefore still uncertain. Nevertheless, digital tools and computing power are constantly evolving. Previously, trajectory calculations were restricted to simplified geometries and two-dimensional ballistic movements, but it is now possible to incorporate refinements such as the complex shape of the blocks, three-dimensional numerical models of terrain of large sizes, as well as a better accounting of the dissipative mechanisms at the point of impact between the block and the run-out slope. The main objective of this work is to analyze, with a discrete elements code in three dimensions, the influence of the shape and interaction parameters on the nature of the rebound in an engineering context. We first present a methodology for identifying and studying the sensitivity of contact parameters, developed and validated from laboratory experiments. This methodology was subsequently applied to two block fall experiments conducted on medium and large real-scale scenarios. The study conducted on a medium scale allowed the numerical model to be compared with data obtained during an experimental rockfall tests campaign commissioned by the SNCF and conducted in collaboration with IRSTEA in a railway. The analyzes that were carried out mainly focused on the impact velocities of the blocks with ballast and propagation distances. The large-scale study is based on a series of block releases performed at the experimental site (Authume quarry, France) as part of a Benchmark proposed inside the National Project C2ROP. The mainly goal of this Benchmark is to access and compare trajectory softwares, numerical computation codes and engineering practices to define their relevance and validity domains. As part of the thesis, this work was conducted in several phases (blind phase and then conducted taking in account partial data measured during the experimental tests) and we present the evolution of these analyzes at the end of each one of these phases. The study focused on the velocities, heights and energies of the blocks at certain points of the propagation profile, as well as on the stopping positions of the blocks. The influence of block shapes on run-out distances is also presented.Lastly, an internal Benchmark performed within the IMSRN company shows the importance, on the analyzes, of the expertise of the operator, and the consequences derived from the application of different trajectography tools (in 2D and in 3D). This work highlights the current issues that are often faced by engineering offices and engineers in charge of risk quantification

This thesis discusses the production of urban space from two aspects, the territory biophysical conditions and the community, with the purpose of searching for alternatives of development which promotes compatibility between the environment and culture. Thus, it defines the principles and concepts on which the ecological urban planning is fundamented, based on MCHARG, Ian L. (2000), HOUGH, Michael (1998), SPIRN, Anne Whiston (1995), SANTOS, Milton (1996 e 1997), PALOMO, Pedro J. Salvador (2003), PELLEGRINO, Paulo R. M. (1995), BENEDICT, Mark A., MCMAHON, Edward T. (2006); it outlines efforts that are distinct from those which have been proposed and that have caused serious environmental and social problems, as well as segregation in the human relations in the cities; it focuses on Goiânia, a planned city, the reading of how the environment, the projects and the people, in their ordinary life, go on composing a new landscape; and it analyzes a determined environment, a unit of conservation called Mendanha Hill, allowing the interpretation of the conflicts and opportunities that may determine alternative values capable of assuring the balance between the urban development and the environmental conservation, because it allows processes of anthropic occupation with the preservation of relevant environmental characteristics, connecting people and places. Eventually, it presents a green infrastructure project applied to the APA of Mendanha Hill as a strategy capable of establishing the retaking of an autochtonous social development and in balance with the biophysical characteristics of the place.

This work studies the developm.entof laminar free convection in vertical flat parallel plates with asymmetric heating. The objective of this study was to verify the maintenance of natural breastfeeding in the period of return of the mother to work, comparing mothers participants of the encouragement Group for the Exclusive Breastfeeding, with mothers not participants of the group. A non-randomized study of intervention was performed through survey among mothers who returned to work after childbirth, participants and non-participants of a group to encourage exclusive breastfeeding. The sample consisted of 200 pain mother-infant aged between 6 and 10 months of life. To avaliate factors associated with the return to work, the results were analyzed by means of statistical tests chi-square and Fisher's Exact. The average age of time when the mother returned to work was 3.64 and 4.20 months after delivery for mothers of the Foreign Group and Internal Group, respectively. Statistical difference was observed for early introduction of another type of milk (p> 0001), water (p> 0001), tea (p> 0001), fruit juice (p> 0001), Pope of fruit (p = 0016) and pope salt (p = 0023) comparing the two groups. The Internal Group maintained the exclusive breastfeeding for a longer time after the return to work. The maintenance of exclusive breastfeeding independs on the time of return of the mother to work, the daily journey, the distance between mother-child, the presence of internal or external day care, level of the position held by the mother and the use of the place of collection of milk. As protective factor of the practice of exclusive breastfeeding, there are the uses of the rest of 30 minutes per shift worked. Abstract:

Abstract:
Accessible to students and practitioners without an advanced degree in environmental economics, this essential reference work pinpoints the role of the economy in both creating and solving many of the world's most pressing environmental challenges. Given the number and scope of environmental problems we face today, everyone from high school students to policy makers to concerned citizens should understand how the economy works and grasp how meltdowns—both economic and environmental in nature—can be avoided. Environmental and Natural Resource Economics: An Encyclopedia offers the critical information needed to comprehend these complex issues. The entries cover topics in a manner parallel to how environmental economics is commonly taught, addressing basic concepts, environmental policy, natural resource economics, market failure, exhaustible and renewable resources, benefit-cost analysis, and applied welfare economics. Additionally, the book includes entries on key concepts of economics, movements, events, organizations, important individuals, and research areas relevant to the study of environmental and natural resource economics. This work stands alone as the only title currently offering such a breadth of coverage and level of detail written specifically for readers without specialized knowledge of environmental economics.

Abstract:
AbstractThe increasing use of machine learning and artificial intelligence in chemical reaction studies demands high-quality reaction data, necessitating specialized tools enabling data understanding and curation. Our work introduces a novel methodology for reaction data examination centered on reagents - essential molecules in reactions that do not contribute atoms to products. We propose an intuitive tool for creating interactive reagent space maps using distributed vector representations, akin to word2vec in Natural Language Processing, capturing the statistics of reagent usage within datasets. Our approach enables swift assessment of reagent action patterns and identification of erroneous reagent entries, which we demonstrate using the USPTO dataset. Our contributions include an open-source web application for visual reagent pattern analysis and a table cataloging around six hundred of the most frequent reagents in USPTO annotated with detailed roles. Our method aims to support organic chemists and cheminformatics experts in reaction data curation routine.

Abstract:
A continuing problem for ANLP (compared with NLP) is that language tends to be more natural in ANLP than that examined in more controlled natural language processing (NLP) studies. Specifically, ineffective or misleading feedback can result from faulty assessment of misspelled words. This chapter describes the Harmonizer system for addressing the problem of user input irregularities (e.g., typos). The Harmonizer is specifically designed for Intelligence Tutoring Systems (ITSs) that use NLP to provide assessment and feedback based on the typed input of the user. Our approach is to “harmonize” similar words to the same form in the benchmark, rather than correcting them to dictionary entries. This chapter describes the Harmonizer, and evaluates its performance using various computational approaches on unedited input from high school students in the context of an ITS (i.e., iSTART). Our results indicate that various metric approaches to NLP (such as word-overlap cohesion scores) are moderately affected when student errors are filtered by the Harmonizer. Given the prevalence of typing errors in the sample, the study substantiates the need to “clean” typed input in comparable NLP-based learning systems. The Harmonizer provides such ability and is easy to implement with light processing requirements.

Abstract:
Abstract The generative tradition of the I960s and 1970s in linguistics tended always to neglect the role of the lexicon in the description oflanguage. The advent of computer technology, however, enabled linguists to test their hypotheses and intuitions and it soon became apparent that the development of a whole range of natural language processing (NLP) systems required a great deal more information than was needed to parse a lexically simple sentence such as John loves Mary. Developers were quickly faced by what has come to be known as the ‘lexical acquisition bottleneck’ (Wilks et al. 1989). The problem was very simple: in order to develop a large-scale NLP system—for example, a machine translation system or an information-retrieval system—one needed to feed the lexical component of the system with the description of tens of thousands of lexical items.

Abstract We consider n x n matrices A with complex entries (i.e. entries in the field of complex numbers ℂ). In a natural way A represents a linear transformation from (ℂn into (ℂn, where ℂn stands for the vector space of n-component columns with complex components. This linear transformation will be denoted by the same letter A. We have therefore the linear transformation A : (ℂn → ℂn defined by A(x) = Ax, x ∈ ℂn, where Ax is the matrix vector product of the matrix A and the column x.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:

We address applications where a BKG is of little help, because the involved entities are not so relevant to be included in any, being for instance ordinary people or small companies. Therefore, we rely on the entities’ attributes and relationships for unique identification, disambiguation, knowledge checking and any other relevant operation. One of the final goals achieved by the proposed method is the ability to merge knowledge collected in separate bases, once they are referred to the same Entity Registry.

Abstract:
Artificial intelligence has shown promise in diagnosing mental illness in young children, a challenging task given the rise in teenagers struggling with mental health. We focus on the capabilities of machine learning and natural language processing models to accurately recognize activities that affect mental health in pre-teens and adolescents, an important step towards improving symptoms of depression and anxiety. We achieved an accuracy of 86.7% for determining sentiment from child journal entries with LSTM and BERT and a MSE of 94.6 for predicting future mental health outcomes with neural networks. We develop an innovative solution of incorporating these models inside of a mobile application as a scalable framework for data collection to track shifts in overall user wellbeing.

Abstract:

Fernández Illescas, Coral, and Stefan Buss. Inter-American Development Bank, 2016. http://dx.doi.org/10.18235/0010109.

Full text
Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:

Franco-Calderón, Ángela María, Luis Orlando Tombé, and Mario Camargo.

Full text
Abstract:

Abstract:
