The EtOH extracts of the leaves of Margraviaceae, a relatively rare Central American vine for which ethnobotanical reports suggested possible anti-anxiety properties, showed significant anti-anxiety activity in animal models for anxiety. Subsequent bioassay-guided fractionation of these extracts yielded an EtOAc active fraction (f1). Further bioassay-directed chromatography of (f1), led to the isolation of betulinic acid (3) as the bioactive constituent in 0.01% of dry weight. A new synthetic route to natural and novel pyrethroid acids was developed utilizing ketene cycloaddition which is a significant improvement over existing syntheses. The newly synthesized pyrethroid acids were converted to pyrethroid esters and used to study structure-activity relationships. A systematic survey of the microbial and invertebrate natural enemies of Phyllophaga spp. was conducted from 1979 to 1981 in 45 localities in southern Quebec. Chronic but low (nonepizootic) rates of biotic regulation were found in all host life stages except eggs. O percevejo bronzeado, Thaumastocoris peregrinus Carpintero & Dellapé (Hemiptera: Thaumastocoridae), é um inseto-praga de origem australiana, que ataca espécies do gênero Eucalyptus em vários países. No Brasil, sua ocorrência foi relatada em 2008 do Rio Grande do Sul e em junho de 2012 foi registrada ocorrência na região sudoeste do Paraná. Também foram encontrados insetos possivelmente sendo atacados pelo fungo entomopatogênico Beauveria bassiana em campo.
