An adequate understanding and classroom application of the Nature of Science (NOS) has become imperative for science teachers. Current research in senior high school science teachers’ understanding of NOS is extensive but junior high school natural sciences teachers’ understanding of NOS and planning of lessons requires further exploration. Six junior high school natural sciences teachers’ understandings of NOS, and how they translated their NOS understandings into lesson planning in South Africa were explored. Natural Science education at the primary level lays the foundation for a child's understanding of the world around them. The conventional approach to teaching involves lectures and rote memorization, often resulting in passive learning experiences. This article explores the potential opportunities to transform primary class Natural Science lessons by incorporating interactive methods. By embracing activities that engage students actively, educators canfoster a more dynamic and enjoyable learning environment, promoting better comprehension and retention of scientific concepts.

"Questions have been asked about whether science is more special than any other subject in being less culture bound, and less subject to the usual differences between languages. At so many angles scientific language has been viewed as difficult because of its academic, authoritative and impersonal nature which makes it difficult for both teachers and learners to understand. This is an unfortunate reality because learners ought to develop a strong foundational understanding of scientific concepts in order to comprehend scientific knowledge and processes. Previous studies have shown how language

Abstract:
As part of a one-year Department of Defense demonstration project, proton exchange membrane fuel cell systems have been installed at three residences to provide electrical power and waste heat for domestic hot water and space heating. The 5 kW-capacity fuel cells operate on reformed natural gas. These systems operate at preset levels providing power to the residence and to the utility grid. During grid outages, the residential power source is disconnected from the grid and the fuel cell system operates in standby mode to provide power to critical loads in the residence. In this bibliometric analysis, the authors investigate the feasibility of collecting publications by DAAD-funded researchers and they explore insights into publication patterns that can be gathered from the outputs. While it was possible to extract a considerable set of publications, this process revealed the cruciality of unique author and publication identifiers. Regarding the affiliations of the funded researchers, an increase in connections with Germany can be observed around the funding period, with a large share continuing beyond the funding period. At the same time, German collaborators

Abstract:
This seminar, led by Professor Alexandre Roulin (University of Lausanne), Yossi Leshem (Tel-Aviv University), and General Mansour Abu Rashid (Jordan), explores how natural phenomena can be used to inspire peace and cooperation among human communities, integrating insights from biology, psychology, international relations, and political science. Participants will gain valuable knowledge from evolutionary biology and see how this can be used for interdisciplinary approaches to address global challenges.

This case study explores the 2018–22 implementation of a national community-based surveillance (CBS) programme in Sudan. The programme was designed to meet critical needs of the existing health surveillance system. It aimed to empower communities to detect and contain public health threats, improve relations between communities and their local health system, and involve villages in rural areas. Federal, state, and locality (district) staff attended CBS workshops before recruiting and training community volunteers. Over 8,000 volunteers across 11 states were recruited. It is noted that the formation of basic competencies in the natural sciences and technologies is possible through the active use of computer-oriented technical means in the educational process. Working with computer models in physics lessons creates the conditions for the realization of cognitive activity of students, positively affects the formation of both the motivational and the substantiv

Abstract:
Extreme weather variation, natural disasters, and anthropogenic actions negatively impact coastal communities through flooding and erosion. To safeguard coastal settlements, shorelines are frequently reinforced with seawalls and bulkheads. Hardened shorelines, however, result in biodiversity loss and environmental deterioration. The creation of sustainable solutions that engineer with nature is required to lessen natural and anthropogenic pressures. Nature-based solutions (NbS) are a means to enhance biodiversity and improve the environment while meeting engineering goals. To address this urge

Sandy coastal areas (including coastal dunes, beaches, and submerged intertidal and nearshore areas) are naturally dynamic ecosystems. These areas experience accretion, erosion, dune and island migration, overwash, and other processes as sediments are transported by the wind, waves, tides, and currents. If these natural physical processes are disrupted, the beach ecosystem may transform, become unstable, or disappear completely over time. Human development of coastal areas, sea level rise, and increasing frequency and intensity of coastal storms are examples of coastal change that interfere wi
