Microemulsions were used to develop a catalyst with high selectivity towards ethylene and ethane while maintaining considerable methane (CH4) conversion. The use of this technique to produce lanthanum nanoparticles was studied under different conditions. Temperature was shown to have the most significant effect on the final material properties providing a minimum crystallite size at 25°C. The morphology observed for all the samples was flake or needle like materials containing nanocrystallites. To obtain the catalytically active materials a thermal treatment was needed and this was studied usi

One of the principal methods for re-using natural sources, if they are not suitable for direct utilization, is to combine them with neat materials thus obtaining what is normally described as composite. Through the synthesis of advanced lignin model compounds, the chemistry of real lignin is explored. The objective of this study is to highlight the evolution and the therapeutic and recreational valorization of the spa factor in rural localities, not included in the state balneo-tourism management plan before 1989, nor in the network of the relevant ministry from the years after this date. The paper inventories the sources of geothermal water at the scale of Bihor county that were

In 2015, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO-UN) declared soil a finite natural resource in the face of anthropogenic use, occupation, and exploitation. The importance of soil for maintaining life and other natural resources must be adequately addressed in the curricula for natural sciences and geography teaching. The National Common Curricular Base BNCC, defined for elementary education in Brazil, and the Paulista Curriculum, specific for the state of Sao Paulo, imply that full training related to sustainability requires the student to have competencies intrinsi

Traditional building materials based on primary natural resources can be used for green housing concepts with energy eco-efficiency and the health of the living space, representing a special group of innovative materials for the construction industry. They are developed by using and improving the local, traditional technologies and concepts applied on basic, natural raw materials (clay and sand, wood, straw, wool, etc.), for the general purpose of creating the living space in a sustainable, environmentally friendly manner. Responding to a sustainable production is an imperative that is gaining more and more relevance in the definition of specific programs and strategies at national and international level. This urgency leads towards zero waste and circular models and processes that minimize the extraction of resources from the biosphere and do not create waste; instead, when the waste of natural or anthropogenic transformations cannot be avoided, their valorization as resources must be carried out. Concrete is a vital construction material, but the rapid urbanization has led to a significant accumulation of demolished concrete, especially in developing countries. Despite efforts, only a small fraction of this concrete is recycled, leading to environmental challenges. However, countries like Japan have successfully recycled a large portion of their demolished concrete, primarily for use in road subbase and as Recycled concrete aggregate (RCA) which is typically yields lower quality compared to natural aggregate (NA). Zero Waste is a strategy that prioritises actions for the non-generation of solid waste and in case it is produced, promotes their use and valorisation, in such a way that the amount sent to final disposal1 is minimal, even null. Therefore, to encourage and strengthen solid waste management practices oriented to Zero Waste in popular neighbourhoods2, is a global commitment to producing sustainability niches in cities by addressing the problems arising from inappropriate management.
