Adolescent drug addiction in Ukraine is a serious problem that requires proper attention and evaluation from modern society. Timely public reaction to this issue determines the methods of its solution and ways to prevent adolescent drug addiction in Ukraine in the future. The urgency of the subject matter is determined by the danger of drug addiction among Ukrainian adolescents and the lack of attention paid by parents to the study of this problem and the lack of proper attention to this issue in most Ukrainian schools. Lecturing on nature conservancy at Amsterdam and Stellenbosch offered the possibility to investigate if biology students in different countries and cultures have different views on nature and nature conservation. The results of a short questionnaire show a similar broad attitude towards nature and nature conservation in both university student groups. They all want action with respect to global problems (global warming/climate change). More than half of the coastline of the estuary and the Firth of Forth is assessed to be sufficiently important for designation as Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs). The basis of the selection of these sites is discussed. The SSSIs are then described, including those which are managed as nature reserves. Wider aspects of conservation in the Forth are referred to. The main threats to wildlife sites and species are indicated, together with possible solutions, and opportunities for conservation.

Yeats’s ‘rough beast’ in “The Second Coming" emerges not only 'out of Spiritus Mundi, but out of an era that was especially attracted to various encodings of the unconscious, a trope, so to speak, made famous by Freud and Jung. I argue that certain psychological discourses are inherent in an era sceptical of foundationalism, that Yeats's poem is a manifestation of the machinery of this scepticism, and that, ultimately, aspects of the poem foreshadow Postmodernist interrogations of received ‘truth’.
