Full textThe aim of this thesis is to answer the question : what is architecture "in harmony in nature" ? In order to explore and to explain the idea of nature through the house in harmony with nature, I conduct a case study of the texts and the constructions of a Korean scholar Yun Sondo who lived in 17th century and who is a representative Sadaebu, an educated class based on the Confucian ideas. To show how Sadaebus considered the concept of nature and applied it to art and architecture, I try to enunciate architectural principles, taking account of the environment and human beings. This thesis is composed of three parts. The first part is devoted to studying the meaning of words indicating the idea of nature (jayon). I explain the terms in evoking the nature and in referring to the aesthetics in art and in literature of Korean scholars. In the second part, I conduct a deep analysis on the poetry of Sondo Yun, in particular focusing on the relationship between art and jayon in his works. Finally, in third part, using the concept of the architectural traces, the spatial organization of house, and the habitation inside and outside of the Korean traditional house, I describe the ideal house of Sadaebu in several aspects : the difference between « family » housing were we live others and « hermitage » housing where we are in the solitary relationship with the nature

Full textOur thesis is a study of the teaching methods for Ancient Greek. Through an analysis of the current crisis in the teaching of ancient languages and of the grammar-translation method, we will attempt to demonstrate that nowadays it would be desirable to make different teaching choices. In particular, we focus our interest on manuals called “story-based courses”. The most widely known of these, are the Ørberg method, the Cambridge Latin Course, Athenaze and Reading Greek. These works are characterized by an ongoing tale written in Latin or Greek and concerning the ancient civilization. They offer an inductive approach to the language, that favors fast reading and a “natural” language learning. We also discuss the matter of the educational practices to adopt in class, which remain essential to create a teaching coherent with these tools. Past experiences (in particular the one led by Rouse at the Perse School of Cambridge), but also the research we have carried out at Liceo Classico Francesco De Sanctis of Salerno, have revealed just how much our teaching can be subverted and how much the students’ reactions might vary. The reflections from our work, which is addressed primarily to teachers of ancient languages, aim specifically to allow a reasoned knowledge of the natura method, overcoming the prejudices that often accompany it and evaluating all its potential
Krasniqi, Shemsi. "Croyances et pratiques rituelles albanaises du Kosovo : réflexions sur une écoculture." Thesis, Strasbourg, 2013. http://www.theses.fr/2013STRAG003.
Full textThe main idea of the thesis is the eco-culture, that is to say, a deep reflection on the spiritual relationship between human and nature. To explain this idea, I analyze some characteristic elements of the traditional culture, such as punishment, curse, blessing, oath, metamorphosis, empathy, reverence, sacredness, etc. These cultural elements do not concern only the mores and ethical human practices in social life, but also the relationship between human and nature. Nowadays, in everyday life, these values are sometimes expressed openly and concretely, and other times latently and not obviously. In addition to thinking, symbols and values, the eco-culture also manifests itself through behavior, concrete actions, and other routines of daily life. Amongst the conclusions of this thesis is that the environmental movements in Kosovo, aiming at changing the habits related to the environment by means of creating the environmental culture and raising ecological consciousness, must refer to the traditional Albanian eco-culture, since the latter has many common elements with contemporary environmental ethics, such as deep ecology, eco-feminism, ecological spiritualism, dark-green religion, etc

Full textThis study proposes a geohistorical approach of the mangrove ecosystems in the South Viêt-Nam. It will allow to understand its developments, considering environmental, sociological and economical characteristics. The Mekong Delta region, shaped wetlands and rice fields, was originally based on a civilization that converts the flat areas, thanks to hydrological and hydraulic progress. From 1860, the colonial Cochinchina history has contributed to change the structures, the forestry landscapes and country life. Regarding others modifications, the French Indochina War (1945-1954) and Viêt-Nam War (1945-1975) have contributed to destructions, disruptions, loss of biodiversity in the terrestrial biomes and aquatic ecosystems. On this conflict territory, the distant, enclaved and unhealthy regions became, between engagement and clandestinity, the refuge of the survival Viêt-Minh. The forests, on the alluvium soils - Cân Giò next Saïgon, Cà Mau in the southern tip of Viêt-Nam - were deeply damaged. The spraying of herbicides and defoliants during the chemical war (1961-1971), on the forests and paddy fields, has caused ecological and health effects, bringing about long term consequences. From test sites, spatial modeling and spatial analysis have allowed to rediscover the former landscapes before the wars, understand natural and managed dynamics of vegetation, estimate the post war evolutions. In fact, the conflicts have involved disturbances, change in landscape scale and created new forestry structures. French management, war’s impact on the resources and since 1970, fast expanding aquaculture in the mangrove forests, are so many disruptions

Full textThis study aims to evaluate the importance of sacred water and cults connected with waters as part of eastern Gaul religious landscape, through the evolution of cult places and ritual practices. By extension, our goals is toprovide a better understanding of the transformations impacting religious activities and how it connects to the promotion of Romanitas by Gallic communities. The religious history of Gaul is well-known for conveying problematic concepts such as "naturist cults" or, in our case, "water cults". Therefore, we strived to study modern literary sources in order to deconstruct historiographical myths. Then, we completed this overview through a diligent re-reading of ancient sources. At this point, we were convinced that "water cult" was a flexible religious concept. Gallic communities would seize the idea of sacred water and cults connected with waters, and adapt it to their needs, even is shared religious norms seem to transcend time and cultures. In order to put this hypothesis to test, we challenged it against archaeological data through a selection of cult places from eastern Gaul, which, in return, allowed us to identify two main chronological phases forming the pattern of the evolution of water cults in Gallo-Roman religious landscape. The first chronological phase stretch from the first century B.C. to the first half of the first century A.D., when this new facet becomes an increasingly growing trend. Afterwards, that new religious discourse reaches a form of maturity starting from the second half of the first century

Full textThis study of the Egyptian elements in the arts and sciences in Toulouse, from the seventeenthto the twentieth century is based on a corpus of archives and an iconographic corpus belongingto both scholarly and artistic academies and the city’s museums. It makes it possible to lookinto the way Toulouse scholars have created, trasmitted and modified representations of ancientEgypt over four centuries. Certain elements are favoured such as the pyramid, the obelisk, theSphinx as well as the gods Isis and Osiris. Their meaning and function in the dynamics of thefashioning of identities and heritage, shed light on the role played by antique elements in thesocial fields. While maintaining a strong and stable symbolic over time, they are constantlyreinterpreted to fit into a specific rhetoric. The crossing of the artistic and academic knowledgesof Egypt has yielded three choice fields to be used in Egyptian references: the relationship tonature, the relationship to knowledge and the relationship to power. Within each of them, ancient Egypt acts as a binder, a mediator between the events of the past and the contemporaryreinterpretation that is translated and staged in the city’s various museums
Hourcade, Emmanuel. "Le concept de perfectibilité chez Georg Forster, vecteur d'une critique interne des civilisations européennes ?" Thesis, Lyon, 2020. http://www.theses.fr/2020LYSEN053.
Full textGeorg Forster is one of the most controversial thinkers of the late german Enlightenment. During his life, he crosses different geographical and cultural spaces, in which new ways of knowledge transmission occur. The traditional network of knowledge production and transmission finds a competition in parallel networks testifying the rising interest in scientific knowledge. Forster himself lives at a crossing of different national thinking traditions which are substantial of his writings. In his voyage around the world, Forster is confronted with the absolute other, the “wild people”, but also to the relative other, the “civilized people” not behaving as it would be expected from a civilized person. This leads him to reconsiderate the definition of the Enlightenment: to what extent is it conform to the reality one can observe in European societies, and should it only be considered from a theoretical point of view? In this regard, the perfectibility takes an essential place in Forster’s thoughts. Rousseau’s neologism symbolizes simultaneously the progression of every single domain of knowledge which caracterizes the Enlightenment, but symbolizes its ambivalence, too. The perfectibility confronts philosophers and writers with traditional questions asked under new conditions, due to the development of science, knowledge, political and economical structures and new contacts with other civilizations
