Full textAbstract
A tourism genre that has developed in recent years is the nautical tourism, nautical tourism is described as a tourism genre that includes all activities in relation to water. Croatia is one country that has invested in and has good presumption for this type of tourism, and has also received an international recognition as a top destination within the nautical tourism genre. The purpose with this thesis is to increase knowledge about the nautical tourism development in Croatia, and to see if it would be possible to develop on Swedish conditions. Sweden is a destination with a large number of archipelagos, located in both inland lakes and along coastal areas. Stockholm archipelago is one of the world's largest archipelagos which has a long tradition as a tourist destination. Literature studies and a number of interviews with actors in the Croatian and the Swedish tourism industry have been made to enable this thesis. Based on this study, we have seen an increase of nautical activities in Croatia which has had positive impact on the country´s tourism industry and their citizen. When it comes to Sweden the study has shown that development of nautical tourism is possible, but in a smaller volume than in Croatia. Partly because of the short summer season and the image that is created around Stockholm archipelago.

Full textThe Tisa comes into being by merging of the Black and White Tisa near Rahovo in Ukraine. Apart from Ukraine, the river flows through Romania, Hungary and Serbia, being tangent to the territory of Slovakia in the shorter part of its flow. The river basin, mainly situated in the low land, covers the area of 157,220 km2, out of which 9,460 km2 is on the territory of Serbia. Artificially made meanders shortened the flow of the Tisa for 453 km, which contributed to its present length of 966 km. The Tisa flows in a 164 km long meandrous riverbed through Serbia. Generally, the direction of the flow in this sector is meridian, thus making the river a natural border between Banat in the east and Backa in the west. The Tisa is the largest of the Danube tributaries, joining the Danube at its 1,214.5th river kilometer near Stari Slankamen. Due to the wide scope of passive and active measures, undertaken with the aim to organize the water of the Tisa, the river system was significantly changed in comparison to the natural one. Apart from the artificial shortening of the flow and building dykes on riverbanks, the most significant changes in the river system were mainly influenced by dams built near Tiszalök, Kisköre, and Novi Becej, due to which three water steps were formed in the middle and lower river’s flow. With the exception of the spring period of high water level, in other periods of the year the Tisa river regime is artificially directed, which is noticeable in the parts upstream of dams. However, due to the prevailing natural conditions, first of all climate conditions, it could be established that in lower part of the Tisa, the highest water levels and flow rates occur in spring reaching their maximum values in April and the lowest occur in autumn, reaching minimum values in October. Navigation conditions on the river are improved to large extent by building dams on the Tisa and making hydro accumulations in upstream sectors. On Serbian part of the river flow, the conditions are particularly good upstream the dam built near Novi Becej at 63th river kilometer. It is exactly the navigation conditions which represent the main predisposition for nautical tourism development. However, this rather attractive form of tourism in the world lately is not only connected with navigation and navigation course, but also with different activities on the banks and wider riversides, such as sports and recreational, cultural, entertaining, etc. For the needs of nautical tourism, various types of boats are used and various objects are built on river banks or on the river. The objects are used for accepting, supplying, protection, maintenance and repairing the boats used in tourism and also for providing navigators with different services. Accepting objects in nautical tourism are: nautical anchorages, moorings, tourist quays, marines and nautical tourism centers. Firstly, the main predispositions for nautical tourism development in Serbian Potisje are good navigation conditions on the Tisa, transit feature of this part of the flow, as well as numerous natural and cultural assets closer to or farther from riversides. The missing links, which leave nautical tourism in Serbian Potisje on very low level, are well equipped private accommodation, generally higher level of services and well planned marketing activities.

Full textThis dissertation aims at analysing the way in which nautical tourism may foster the development of Tagus estuary, focusing on its dynamising agents; the surrounding riverside councils, the public and private entities that manage certain parts of the estuary or that operate there, as well as other immaterial agents that manage and promote the estuary as a tourism destination. Among those who are well acquainted with this area, it is acknowledged that the Tagus estuary has unique history and wealth, and that it has a strong development potential, when understood from a recreational, sustainable and quality perspective, which would trigger greater tourism flows and improve both the local and the national economies. Nowadays the Tagus estuary assumes a particularly important role in the port activity, especially in the shipping of cargo containers and in cruise tourism, in the cross-river traffic, allowing people to commute everyday between the two banks of the river, and also in the practice of sports, namely sailing and rowing, led by the existing clubs and associations in the area. However, its potential growth might be even greater if articulated with regular tourism practices, which are now occasional and restricted to half a dozen operators. Through a survey applied to the general public and to operators, it has been possible to understand that the wealth of the estuary and its (yet poor) tourism offer is unknown to many people and that some operators experience logistical and infrastructural difficulties that prevent them from acting in an appropriate way. We conclude, therefore, that for all the prospective visitors (tourists and excursionists) and the general public to feel attracted to this destination and to understand its value, it is necessary that they are first aware of its existence and of the possibilities it has to offer. As such, and together with the nautical activity, that requires still some investment in more and better infrastructures and equipments, different strategic actions are proposed that aim, for instance, at creating a body that allows the integrated management of the estuary. This would contribute to the organisation of tourism resources, to promote both banks’ added value and identity (north and south), to offer nature tourism possibilities, gastronomy and wines, city breaks, cultural and landscape touring, and sun and sea, making it possible for the target population to experience these through a network platform. Furthermore, these suggestions might also assist to reinforce the present tourism offer and to build an image for the estuary that may be recognised at the local, national and international levels.

Several works characterize the presence of spinner dolphins at Fernando de Noronha Archipelago in the Dolphins Bay. Though, the dolphins abidance inside this cove has decreased and a new area has been occupied by the animals to achieve the same behaviors, that are resting, breeding and nursing. This area comprises the Inside Sea northeast border of Fernando s de Noronha Island, including the opposing Middle and Dog shore area, the San Antonio Bay and the Between Islands region. The aim was to characterize the dolphins occupation and describe their interactions with the tourism in this area. Data were collected in 2008 and 2009 through a fixed point observation. The study area was divided into seven sub-areas, recording: presence/absence of dolphins, days abidance endurance, abidance length in each area, estimated number of individuals, dolphins direction and speed of displacement, boats presence, interaction period, monitoring, boats attitude and velocity. The dolphins abidance time displayed the same pattern during both years of study, with the higher occupancy in the Between Islands region. Groups with farther than 200 individuals were more frequent both 2008 (46.2%) and 2009 (42.3%). Thus the displacement s slow speed as the preferred direction towards Rat Island also showed the same pattern in both years. The Between Islands region also presented the boats major abidance near the dolphins groups. Boats moved farther in slow speed (95%) than at high speed (5%). The legislation s compliance for the cetaceans protection occurred in 89.7% of 2.839 interactions between boats and spinners, in which this variable was recorded. Whenever boats moved at a slow speed during the meetings with spinner dolphins groups, animals also moved at a slow speed (n = 337), significantly more than the fast displacements (n = 128) ix or "porpoise" (n = 4) (X2 = 318.543, p = -0.001). When boats quickly passed by groups, a significant difference between the dolphins displacement speeds was observed (X2 = 18.264, p =- 0.001), however, the slow (47%) and fast (47% ) displacements frequency was equal, noted the difference with the porpoise displacements (6%), which had the lowest frequency. Data indicate the establishment of a new occupation pattern of the spinner dolphins at Fernando de Noronha, with the Between Islands area being of great importance to the dolphins habits and currently the main area of the boats meeting with the dolphins, showing the need of new conservation measures in this area

Full textIstraživana oblast rada je Pan-Evropski Koridor 7 – internaconalni plovni put Dunava (Regenzburg – Crno more). Iako se beneficije ne odnose na korišćenje usluga smeštaja i ishrane u ugostiteljskim objektima, dobrobit se ogleda u sledećim segmentima: turistička promocija (širenje pozitivnog plasmana Srbije kao receptivnog prostora na inostranom tržištu – predstavljanje kulturne baštine i prirodnih vrednosti); porast inostranog turističkog prometa, a samim tim i potrošnje; otvaranje novih radnih mesta (adekvatna infrastruktura i suprastruktura - serviseri različitih usluga brodovima, posadi i putnicima) – pristaništa, špediteri, suvenir tržnice itd. Rezultati istraživanja mogu pomoći daljim proučavanjima uzročno-posledičnih veza između ovakvog vida putovanja i resursa receptivnih zemalja na kojima se ova putovanja zasnivaju, a sve u cilju adekvatnog osmišljavanja i plasmana turističke ponude, odnosno optimalni razvoj receptivnih zemalja kroz održivi turizam.
The researched area is Pan-European Corridor 7 – international Danube waterway (Regensburg – The Black Sea). More precisely, 93.7% of the Corridor 7 is included in the paper, i.e. 2,227 river kilometres of the Danube (from Passau – Germany to the Danube delta – The Black Sea). During the last decade the cruise industry has been the tourism niche that has experienced the most rapid growth of all. However, this form of tourism is still in its infancy and has not been relatively well researched. The article demonstrates the dominance of “silver hair” cruisers on the Corridor 7. Furthermore, we found that the age groups 60-84 were the most represented, with the domination of age groups 70-74 and 65-69. The results of the analysis have shown that the Danube cruises have positive impact on Serbia, primarily the riparian area of the Danube. Although the benefits exclude food and accommodation expenditure, they are noticeable within the following segments: tourism promotion (broadening the scopes of Serbia as a receptive area for the foreign market through its cultural heritage and natural values); increase in foreign tourist turnover, other expenditures; new job opportunities (adequate infrastructure and superstructure – rendering services to ships, crew and passengers) – harbors, carriers, souvenir shops, etc. The results of the research may initiate further studies on the cause and effect connections between this type of traveling and resources of receptive countries, upon which the travels are based, both aiming at adequate design and launching of the tourist offer, i.e. the optimal development of receptive countries through sustainable tourism.

ABSTRACT: The relations between city and sea, through the port spaces, are a constant in the course of the urban evolution in the diverse cultural and historical contexts. A good example is the city of São Tomé. With the end of the cocoa and coffee crops in São Tomé, there is a decline in port equipment, as well as the bankruptcy of the shipyards, which led to the appearance of an authentic boat cemetery. The combination of these two factors results in the abandonment and degradation of a large part of the old port infrastructure, and the consequent deterioration of the urban fabric of the port, which today is urgent to requalify, since looking at the sea in its economic potential is an asset that the country should not dispense. This intervention has as main objective to create a symbiotic relationship between the city and the sea. For that is important to define an intervention strategy at the urban level in order to improve the relationship between the sea and the city, recognizing the importance of architectures in support of nautical, while not only as a strategic element for the regeneration of urban waterfronts, but also as an enhancer of the various economic activities that can come from it, for example nautical sports, tourism and recreation, thus creating a new space for leisure and entertainment in the city. For this, it is proposed the investment in new nautical infrastructures and equipment, that make possible the improvement of the conditions for the sport and leisure of the population and the development of nautical tourism in the island. In this way the Maritime Center becomes a key point of this program. This is located in the territorial intersection of the waterfront and city and corresponds to a maritime and city identity.

In this way, it was of fundamental importance to know the area studied, its history and the mechanisms that interfered in training the current landscape. It was used as key source of data for the reports of newspapers, which could show the evolution of the vision on the islands, as well as the formation of the area. In the period from 1912 to 2010 many reports have been cataloged by providing a rich material for analysis. On the basis of this knowledge and the collection of data from other sources of documentation and the contact with the object of research, by means of field visits, photographic records, questionnaires and interviews, on-site observation, has been consolidated data to characterize the dimensions that constitute the dynamics of these territories. Within the perspective that the territory is also a place that has a symbolic dimension is subjective, was important in this work to the understanding of the place of the islands. As part of the analysis of the prospects for this locality and the institutional planning were analyzed the Master Plan for Urban Development and the Strategic Plan of Nautical Tourism in the All Saints Bay
Tourism, the product of the evolution of leisure, is in this 21st century a global activity and one that has the recognized ability to promote development in the territories where it happens. Yacht tourism appears as one of the segments of the generic tourism activity and it encourages growth and development in the territories where it occurs. Because of Portugal’s geostrategic position, there is, annually, a considerable number of yachts crossing through its Atlantic coastline. At the same time, there is an increasing awareness, at a national level, of the need and of the intrinsic ability that Portugal possesses to be a country with a well-developed revenue earning maritime economy from the different related sectors. Among these is tourism. Benchmarking can be one of the starting points for the establishing of the intended vectors needed for the growth of maritime culture in Portugal e, for that reason, New Zealand emerges as a case-study. At a local scale, Figueira da Foz appears as a maritime destination, with a history of tourism and with unique characteristics. Because that territory has a marina structure, it would be expected that the number of passing-by yacht users would have enough representation for that tourism sector to be considered an asset (with official gains and purposely recognized by the local population) for local development. This fact, for now, appears only as a recognized capability by the local institutions and agents. This openness and the diversity of existing potential was the starting point for the development of a strategy that has the growth of yacht tourism as its goal. Because of the lack of national studies of this kind at a local level, we sought data that was not registered or available. We used the Delphi method to do just that. Sequentially, we formed a panel of specialists that are directly or indirectly related to nautical recreation, the official decision-making, the academia, and tourism. The end result was a tool and a group of measures that, if followed, could place Figueira da Foz as a destination that has yacht tourism at its core.

The following internship report reflects the result of three months of practical work, study, performed activities and acquired experience during the curricular internship carried out in the company Opium, conducted in the framework of a Master in Tourism, Territory and Heritage. Before the global coronavirus pandemic, the tourism sector represented one of the main economic activities, globally and nationally, having been, unmistakably, a very important factor in the socioeconomic development and in the strengthening of the local economy. Nautical tourism and the certification of nautical stations, a recent bet of the region, serve as a differentiating factor for the region and help in the creation of an integrated tourist product that represents the Region of Aveiro and that has, as basis and common denominator, the Ria de Aveiro. The present study peaks in the realization, and later analysis, through the use of the content analysis software NVivo®, of interviews via video call to individuals responsible for the nautical stations certified in the Region of Aveiro, councilors of the municipalities of the region whose nautical stations are certified, and to representatives of other public entities like Turismo do Centro de Portugal and the Comunidade Intermunicipal da Região de Aveiro. This study's main goal is to collect the perceptions and opinions of the interviewed of the present state of nautical tourism in the Region of Aveiro, before the global pandemic of coronavirus, and of how will the future of nautical tourism in the Region of Aveiro look like post-pandemic, setting forward solutions to the obstacles imposed by the new coronavirus that originated in Wuhan, China, in December 2019.
