Abstract:
Purpose – Nautical tourism is considered to be an under-exploited research area, if we take into account its evolution and growth prospects. This lack of knowledge is probably one of the main reasons the sector has not reached its maximum. The present paper aims at exploring the European nautical tourists´ perceptions of image, in relation to the type of nautical sport they carry out and the type of nautical destination they visit. Methodology – The research was conducted in the Canary Islands and Morocco during 2013 and 2014. The sample covered 433 European nautical tourists pursuing different nautical sports and was organised into two groups. Structured questionnaires with personal interviews were implemented. Choosing a mature nautical destination and an emerging one enriched the comparative approach for the study. The findings indicate there are clearly similar profiles amongst the groups of tourists visiting both regions, and that the perceived image varies between a nautical tourist doing sailing and a nautical tourist motivated by other nautical sports. The data analysis reveals that perceptions also vary according to the more intensive and extensive use of the destinations. Originality – This empirical study provides useful insights into the demand for nautical tourism, the perceptions and evaluations of the ports and marinas as well as the destinations themselves, which can be used as a guide for the tourism industry managers and the Government Authorities to develop more effective marketing and positioning strategies. The study of the destination image in nautical tourism is a contribution to the progress beyond the state of the sector.

Abstract:
Maritime tourism has become a competitive opportunity for many island destinations in search of sustainable development. This article aims to analyze the hypothesis that tourist satisfaction with nautical destinations depends on the experience of previous visits to competing destinations. This hypothesis is relevant in order to ascertain the extent of potential coopetition between tourist destinations from the point of view of the consumers. This may ask for the need of cooperation within the competitive environment in which tourist destinations manage sustainability. The evidence is obtained from the case of Cape Verde, an archipelago strongly committed to the development of the nautical sector. Survey data from nautical tourists’ satisfaction visiting Cape Verde is modeled utilizing an ordinal logistic approach. Results show that tourist satisfaction with Cape Verde increases with the authenticity of the cultural experience offered by the destination, the diversity and quality of the nautical offer and the security perceived. Moreover, tourists declaring a satisfactory travel experience in other recently visited islands have higher levels of satisfaction with the nautical destination of Cape Verde. This suggests that proper strategies for nautical tourism development in these islands should not only allow tourists to discover the best cultural and local values of the destination, but also enhance their awareness of the quality of the experience provided by island competitors and, therefore establishing a benchmark for the common benefit of all island destinations becomes of interest. In this regard, coopetition strategies among islands with common interests of specialization may allow them to gain better positioning in the international nautical tourism market, and contribute to tourism development and the sustainability of the industry.

Abstract:
In nautical tourism, Croatia has great potential for further development; from the conditions of navigation, safety, destination content, traffic accessibility, natural beauty, traditional hospitality and gastronomic offer of island and coastal places, etc. Its features, at the same time, are the advantages of competing countries: purity of the sea and coastal places, beauty and preservation nature, climate, security, hospitality, country image and spatial layout of the marina. The disadvantages relate to insufficient availability and nautical ports equipment, insufficient education, low level of technical service at nautical ports. The research aimed at analysing the current state of nautical tourism in Croatia. The methods used, based on the collected data, have been analysed. The results of the analysis rely on the existing state of nautical tourism, which determines the importance of additional investment in this form of tourism. The aim of the research is to define and shape the necessary measures and development strategies to achieve the purpose of research: the development of nautical tourism contributes to the growth of Croatia’s economy.

Abstract:
This article aims to analyze factors determining tourist satisfaction with nautical destinations. To this aim, survey data were collected from 255 nautical tourists visiting Cape Verde and an ordinal logit model was used. Data analysis confirms that tourists' satisfaction increases with the diversity and quality of the nautical and cultural offer, and the security offered by the destination, in line with previous research. As novelty, the affective feelings towards the nautical destination were also found as an important antecedent of nautical tourists' satisfaction conformation. The study also confirms that tourists who had been in the archipelago previously do experience a higher level of satisfaction compared with nonrepeaters. Lastly, the fact of visiting other competing nautical destinations influences the level of satisfaction of the nautical tourists in Cape Verde, although not all previously visited destinations have the same impact. This suggests that strategies for nautical tourism development should be more attentive to establish long-lasting relationships and networking structures with some key competitors, and segment their marketing plans according to tourists' past destination choice. The results are of great importance for several destinations seeking to utilize the promotion of nautical activities as a key driver for tourism competitiveness and positioning improvement.

Having in mind Croatian littoral area with its unique attractive coast and islands, it can be said that nautical tourism is absolutely authentic and distinctly recognizable Croatian "tourist product". In spite of numerous comparative advantages, Croatian nautical tourism still has not taken the right place on the market of Mediterranean nautical tourism. Future development of nautical tourism with its complementary activities – nautical economy, should be considered as the driving force for social and economic development of Croatian coastal area and islands, and it should be correctly dimensioned in accordance with carrying capacity of the geographical basis and sustainable development principles. Adequate valorization of Croatia’s most important resources, coast and islands, based on sustainable development principles and long-term systematic actions would improve social and economic position of Croatian Adriatic area.

Abstract:
Abstract Nautical tourism is one of the fastest growing tourism segments on the Montenegrin part of the Adriatic coast. In the past ten years, the number and size of reception capacities in Montenegrin nautical tourism has increased by more than twice. The construction of three marinas with over 500 berths is under way, expected to be on the market by the end of 2019. The development of this tourism segment has been more the result of individual investment projects, than an outcome of strategic development processes. There has been no destination support to the development, and staff needed for new product introduction and positioning have not been trained. According to current development plans, the formation of nautical tourist offer on the Montenegrin coast in nautical tourism ports and related activities of charter companies and service centers are expected to provide over 1000 jobs. The aim of this paper is to analyze the current situation and planned activities within Montenegrin nautical tourist offer and consider the current staff training programmes for the needs of the respective development, with reference to experiences of the most developed destinations, to provide guidelines and recommendations aimed at creating appropriate staff support as the basis for the future comparative advantage of Montenegro on the international nautical tourism market. The paper will rely on general methodological principles applied to the specific research subject. The main scientific research methods to be used in the paper are: inductive-deductive, analytical, synthetic, and statistical methods.

Abstract:
Nautical Tourism represents one of the most important and significant elements of today´s Croatian tourism product. This specific form of tourism experienced significant qualitative changes over the years due to the changes in the preferences of today´s yachtsmen, who are still very interested in experiencing natural attractions of the destination they reside in and in spending active holidays. Besides, they are increasingly oriented towards maximum quality and luxury of the tourism offer more than ever and are willing to pay for it significantly. The most recent results indicate that today´s yachtsmen show a significantly high level of satisfaction with the Croatian nautical tourism offer. However, in order to be able to satisfy their growing needs, it is necessary to introduce additional improvements of the current tourism offer elements, as well as new elements, with the primary focus on satisfying the need for luxury. The main purpose of this paper is to present the current state of the Croatian Nautical Tourism and the importance of introducing elements of luxury in its offer, all with the goal to provide a greater level of satisfaction for yachtsmen and to position Croatia as a competitive nautical tourist destination within the world’s nautical tourism flows.

The Nautical Stairway constitutes a network of nautical scales with basic services and infrastructure for towable boats. The project would contribute to the regional development of the Gulf of California. This article analyzes the context of the megaproject as a tourism policy. The bibliography was compiled through search engines, books, technical and government reports. Three versions of the same project were found (1960-2017): Maritime Tourist Stairway, Nautical Stairway, and Sea of Cortez. Justifications, objectives, strategies, and scale distribution of the different versions of the project were compared. A timeline of institutional planning was carried out, as well as events associated with sectoral sexennial policies. The first version had 20 scales for nautical tourism. The second version, transformed into tourism policy, considered 24 scales, land, and air infrastructure to promote real estate development and golf courses. The last version, a 28 scales coastal tourism megaproject, failed, mainly due to pressure from tourism and environmental policies.

Abstract:
Nautical tourism ports make an open, dynamic and complex system which has been rapidly evolving; this is the reason why the development of this system requires continual monitoring and research. The existing models and development plans concerning nautical tourism ports donot provide for a systematic qualitative and quantitative development of nautical tourism, thus contributing to economical inefficiency likely to cause even ecological imbalance. The more so if nautical ports are regarded as business subjects by whom the concept of sustainable development is declaratively acceptable. For this reason, this paper presents in a systematic and clear way the results of the research based on an overall analysis and evaluation of nautical tourism ports’ position and development plans. On the basis of the results obtained, the paper presents a model of sustainable development of nautical tourism ports whereby the authors propose to redefine the approach to planning the development of nautical tourism and particularly to creating the offer and to understanding the relationship between economic development and environmental protection.

Abstract:
Nautical tourism has become an increasingly popular way of respite, and for a country possessed of nautical capacities it represents a very important factor in the development of tourism in general. Strategy for the development of nautical tourism for the period 2009-2019 has predicted a special nautical capacity growth for the Ličko-senjska County, which is not particularly abundant in nautical capacities. In accordance with the respective spatial plans, also containing decisions adopted in respect of future development of nautical tourism, there were five proposed locations taken in account in this paper for the selection of a suitable location in the Ličko-senjska County. Using the multi-criteria analysis and the VISUAL PROMETHEE software program, location 1-Novalja was selected as the most suitable one. The contribution of this work is primarily reflected upon the analysis of previous research works and the adoption of possible measures for further development of nautical tourism in the Ličko-senjska County.

Abstract:
This article is dedicated to presenting nautical tourism in Slovenia. The basic purpose is to evaluate the extent of nautical tourism, since data on this type of tourism in Slovenia are lacking. Slovenia has three marinas, a few moorings and a passenger terminal. Despite its small coastal strip (46 km), all forms of nautical tourism are represented. This article consists of theoretical and analytical work. The theoretical part presents a number of basic definitions relating to nautical tourism and cruises. This work will also present the development of this form of tourism in Slovenia to date. Slovenia’s first marina was built in 1979 in Portorož, while cruise tourism in Slovenia began later, in 2005. Due to its diversity in a small area, Slovenia is an ideal starting point for (maritime) excursions. In the analytical part, numerical traffic data for the period 2005 to 2015 from marinas and the Port of Koper have been collated and analysed. This work is based on data collected by the marinas themselves, since the official nautical traffic statistics are not recorded. The main results of our analysis indicate that nautical tourism in Slovenia has experienced a large decline since 2005. The exception is cruise tourism, which has shown strong growth.

Yachting appears as a tourism segment with proven and specific importance for the economic and social development of tourist destinations Every year, thousands of yachts cross the Portuguese waters. Figueira da Foz is a seaside city and a destination with a history connected to tourism activities. Despite having a marina located in the city centre, the number of yachts stopping by is still far from this nautical port maximum capacity. As a reaction, and to change this reality, both local and regional stakeholders have participated in a Delphi panel to find out if yacht tourism has the potential to increase. It has been found that both the destination and its marina have the resources to attract and make this territory a nautical reference, and a strategy has been created. This model may serve as a basis for application in other nautical ports.

Abstract:
In tourism, entrepreneurial internationalisation is considered a measure of the development of the industry and a key driver of innovation, competitiveness and image enhancement. In nautical tourism, research is still scarce in terms of supporting business’ internationalisation. This paper analyses factors constraining the international growth of island-based nautical tourism organisations. For the research, a sample of 60 nautical tourism SMEs´ owners of six different islands in the Macaronesia Region (Canary Islands, Madeira and Cape Verde archipelagos) were interviewed. As a result, we provide up to date information about current conditions and barriers to the internationalisation process within the segment and also identify the profile of the firms with the best international performance. The study is of great usefulness for the industry as it guides on the areas that require special attention to enhance those social, environmental and economic conditions of nautical tourism firms that ensure sustainable international growth. Moreover, it helps policymakers of island destinations seeking specialisation and positioning within the international nautical tourism market to raise the efficiency of current incentive mechanisms for internationalisation, thus contributing to increase tourism competitiveness. Finally, the study highlights the importance of fostering wider cooperation among islands with common interests in nautical specialisation and the challenges that this represents for the tourism management.

Abstract:
Purpose This paper aims to analyse how leisure boat tourism impacts are perceived by local communities in coastal areas. For this purpose, a review of the literature on nautical and leisure boat tourism, together with residents’ attitudes, is presented. On that basis, authors consider economic, socio-cultural and environmental impacts, together with general development and future policies of nautical tourism, and cluster the coastal community according to their attitudes towards leisure boat tourism. Design/methodology/approach Primary data are collected among residents of coastal municipalities in the north part of the Adriatic Sea. Within the theoretical framework of social representation, a cluster analysis is performed on 233 valid questionnaires, collected during winter 2013. Findings Interviewed residents believe that leisure boating has a long tradition and has offered improvements to the municipalities as tourism destinations. They consider leisure boat tourism as a catalyst for tourism development and international tourists’ attraction. The cluster analysis reveals the existence of three homogeneous groups of residents labelled as supporters (51 per cent), cautious (29 per cent) and sceptics (20 per cent). Practical implications Practical implications are derived for destination managers and destination management organizations (DMOs) in addressing internal marketing and larger advertisement of the positive impacts leisure boat tourism has over the local community. Originality/value The paper enriches the discussion on residents’ perceptions on nautical tourism and specifically on leisure boat tourism in coastal areas. Limitations are linked to the exploratory nature of the research paper, the sample and the geographical connotation of the study area. Further research will enlarge the data collection to a wider number of coastal communities and integrate results with qualitative analysis.

Abstract:
In this article, the quality of web communication in nautical tourism is assessed, through an analysis of tourist ports websites. Tourist ports address their offer to a large variety of actual and potential customers (boaters, charter companies, crews, etc.), with every group having different drivers for interest in the port, variable expectations and specific needs to be satisfied. As a consequence, tourist ports should be capable of fine tuning their communication strategies and tools to the peculiarities of each group, to attract potential users, provide useful information to actual users and generally encourage loyalty toward the port itself. Websites, given their potential in reaching a wide international audience with rich and adaptable contents, play a major role in this purpose. This article puts forward an original evaluation tool to measure the quality of tourist ports websites, in terms of both quantity and value of the information provided; this tool is subsequently tested on a sample of tourist ports in Northern Sardinia (Italy), an area of great importance for nautical tourism in the Mediterranean Sea. Our work not only supports theoretical reflection about the quality of web communication in nautical tourism but also contributes practical recommendations to port managers on how to improve the quality of the port website.

Abstract:
The development of nautical tourism in the Primorsko-Goranska County is based on the region’s attractive natural resources (the indentedness of its coastline and islands, its favourable climate and fairly well-preserved natural environment), its developed infrastructure systems (with all their advantages and weaknesses), its vicinity to major markets, and as well as on the personal safety of boaters and the safety of navigation. Major weaknesses are reflected in the lack of tourist facilities and in the low level of the structure and quality of the offering of nautical tourism ports in comparison to boater expectations. Redressing these weaknesses will help future development converge with the desired goals. Based on an analysis of nautical tourism development, it is essential to set the guidelines of future development, taking into account the protection and conservation of natural resources and the application of the concept of sustainable development.

Nautical tourism is one of the major tourism sectors and the largest growing maritime industry in Europe, employing almost 3.2 million people. Nautical tourism is of great importance for Croatia and Croatia is increasingly promoted as one of the leading Mediterranean nautical destinations. Croatia’s insular and coastal nautical infrastructure offers its users adequate services, but services need to be continuously upgraded. At the same time, the development of the local community must not be subordinated to the development of a nautical destination. The authors analyze nautical tourism and small shipbuilding, two sectors that constitute the blue economy. The blue economy is analyzed with particular regard as a long-term strategy to support the sustainable growth of the marine and maritime sectors. The authors emphasize that the blue economy aims to stimulate sustainable economic development, create business opportunities and open jobs in the blue economy sectors of the EU countries. The importance of the blue economy for Croatia is analyzed and the results of the analysis presented.

Croatia is one of the well - known Mediterranean destinations for nautical tourism which full development potential is waiting to be used. Cultural attractions, indented coastline, numerous islands, climatic and other advantages are not enough. Croatia needs new infra- and supra-structures, which are reflected through investments in new marinas, anchorages and other facilities. Portugal is an Atlantic country, but with a Mediterranean culture due to its proximity and (potentially) benefiting from its extensive shoreline, two archipelagos, and being located in a geographical position where thousands of yachts pass by each year. The article aims to analyse the accommodation capacities of nautical tourism ports in Croatia and in Portugal. The authors have given an overview of the current situation with an emphasis on the differences and possibilities. The purpose of this article is to analyse the legal objective of nautical tourism and the growing need for accommodation capacities in ports of nautical tourism in both countries. The authors have carried out the research and have analysed data from different years and regions. Although more in Croatia, nautical tourism is a significant part of the national economy in both countries with a strong incentive on the local community. The special goal of this paper is to research into and analyse the economic and ecological impact of nautical tourism through ports of nautical tourism and with a special emphasis on marinas. The result obtained and the critical overview has been presented as one of the important contributions of this paper.

There is, however, an array of limiting factors that need to be eliminated if nautical tourism is to evolve on sound bases consistent with sustainable development. Future development cannot be based solely on Croatia's advantages reflected in its scenic spots, attractive landscapes and preserved environment. In 2005, new measures were introduced in nautical tourism to abolish black chartering; high standards of environmental protection of the Adriatic, implemented; and navigational safety, enhanced. Following these activities, the basic objective has become the need to define the strategic determinants for the future development of nautical tourism. Quantitative data point to a rapidly growing number of boaters, who expect to be received and accommodated in keeping with the trends on the service market of nautical tourism. Service quality in Croatian marinas is considerably below the quality levels of rival countries. Marinas in Croatia are in need of restructuring and repositioning, entailing continuous investment. Strategic thinking is needed in identifying the opportunities and lines of development of nautical tourism, in addressing the issue of the sustainable capacity, structure and distribution of berths along the Adriatic’s Croatian coastline as part of the strategic determination of Croatia’s tourism development, as well as in providing a comprehensive vision of current and future development.

Abstract:
In this paper, the author presents the multi-criteria analysis methods, PROMETHEE I and II and GAIA, used for selecting the location of a nautical tourism port. In an example of the selected location of a nautical tourism port in the Northern Adriatic, the author has used an analytic and graphical evaluation for solving such a problem. Particular attention has been paid to the use of GAIA method, which is suitable for visualisation of the problem characteristics through geometrical interpretation and presentation of the results of a multi-criteria analysis. By application of the described methods, it is possible to establish the most acceptable location considering the principles of sustainable development. The paper emphasises the importance of applying multi-criteria analysis and multi-criteria use of selected methods, which contain criteria and sub-criteria for selecting the optimal location of a nautical tourism port. In the paper the results of the research “Criteria for selecting the location of a nautical tourism port” conducted during 2006/2007 have been used. Tourism related to the sea and boating activities is becoming increasingly popular and revolves around a range of leisure, water sports, nautical or other maritime activities. This article studies the main scientific contributions in this area, bearing in mind the complexity of finding a suitable definition of this concept. Hence, the aim of this paper is to analyze the scientific production from 1986 to 2020 in impact journals of the terms “nautical tourism”, “maritime tourism” and “marine tourism” considering the following variables: number of documents, number of articles, period being studied, Hirsch citations and index. The results show an increasing trend in terms of both the number of published articles and citations publications from 2007 onwards and the review of the literature raises the need to define a new concept: “blue tourism”. Future trends in research include terms such as tourist ports, quality of websites and blue economy.

Abstract:
AbstractCountries develop their nautical tourism depending on their nature potentials and resources and in line with their national economic strategies. The main development determinant is a national strategy as the basis of all plans and activities. The nautical tourism development encourages tourism destination development and impacts on economic and social sustainability. Nautical tourism is a specific form of modern tourism trends whose extremely important and highly profitable economic influence is largely visible in numerous multiplicative effects. Renown world researches prove that nautical tourism is one of the most important economic activities in tourism sector, perceived in Croatia as one of the most competitive tourism products. The objective of this paper is to point at the necessity of differentiation of communication strategy and marketing placements towards target markets focused on attracting yachtsmen taking into account their different demographic and sociographic profile. The research and comparative analysis conducted in American and European yacht clubs showed significant differences in selection of tourism destinations based on demographic and sociographic profile of yachtsmen in specific geolocation. The purpose of this work is to prepare the comparative analysis of the European and American yachtsmen profiles, which will serve to create targeted strategic marketing model of attracting foreign yachtsmen in selection of their holiday tourism destination. The conclusions of this research show that Croatia has still not fully capitalized its potential in the nautical tourism sector and that the more comprehensive market segmentation is necessary in the process of planning how to attract foreign yachtsmen.

Abstract Diversification of fisheries has one of its main lines of development in tourism, especially in countries as touristic as Spain. An important part of the European Fisheries Funds (EFFs) has subsidized, through the Fisheries Local Action Groups, local development projects in fishing zones with a large part of these projects related to tourism, including nautical tourism. In this new context it is possible to quantify and analyse the subsidized projects’ typology and the relationship between recreational and professional fishing. This work analyses 705 projects financed by European funds, mainly the EFF, of which 172 are related to tourism and 48 to nautical tourism. The objective is to categorize and characterize the subsidized projects and, subsequently, to verify the degree of relationship, if any, between the projects of nautical tourism and professional fishing.

Abstract:
The authors of this paper have systematically studied the trends of increasing demand in nautical tourism. The increasing demand is followed by a significant increase of threats to the environment, but also to boaters and their vessels participating in nautical activities. The authors emphasise the obligation to observe safety requirements through defined and controlled procedures in marinas and at sea and implementation of international standards during the stages of organisation of nautical economy, i. e. nautical tourism with complementary activities. The authors explicate the implementation of international standards for selecting locations for marinas, construction and equipment of marinas and vessels, training of boaters – skippers, business operations of subjects and objects of nautical tourism and promotion of their services. Special attention is given to safety standards and procedures during emergencies at sea and in the ports. Each vessel is expected to have a GPS (Global Positioning System) device and a box similar to a black box in aeroplanes which could be used for reconstructing accidents. Radar systems, AIS system (Automatic Identification System) and alarm systems will minimise the time for interventions. The intervention procedures at sea are currently being determined aimed at minimising the time, but improvements are still needed. Special attention is also given to activities related to resolving crises, analysis of the existing and the potential causes and to defining of preventive actions. Abstract:
Management of nautical tourism ports, by having general appropriate characteristics as well as characteristics related to business skills, can encourage development of related ports, which may result in direct and indirect impact on economy of the Republic of Croatia. For the purposes of this research work, there has been done a survey regarding management of eighteen (18) nautical tourism ports. The survey included issues such as general characteristics (gender, age), qualifications, as well as specific features like risk appetite, decision-making, use of scientific methods and similar. The research results indicate that nautical tourism management is not prone to risk which is mostly due to management’s age structure; increasing age decreases the desire for taking risks in decision-making. Management uses some group decision-making techniques, thereby it reflects the trust to lower levels in business while at the same time it increases their creativity and work motivation. Since nautical tourism is still in its nascent, the introduction of new scientific methods in decision-making could improve ports’ business and give them new directions and alternative directions of perceiving business challenges. The research paper also compares done research with previous similar surveys, but not to those that are directly related nautical tourism ports, all in order to identify changes that have occurred in management functioning over the years.

Abstract:
We analyze the elements determining the sustainability of nautical tourism in selected Mediterranean countries (Croatia, Slovenia, Greece, Italy and Turkey). The purpose of our research is to investigate the main obstacles to greater application of renewable energy sources (RES) as the basis for the sustainability of nautical tourism. The obtained results provide valuable information that can help companies and policy makers choose appropriate strategies to achieve the EU 2030 sustainability goals in this sector. Our survey among charter companies was conducted during 2018 on a sample of 51 respondents. We conclude that there is a serious lack of knowledge among nautical tourism respondents regarding the availability of financial instruments from EU funds intended for increasing energy efficiency and adoption of RES. Respondents were familiar with general measures to reduce energy costs but are not familiar with the measures and opportunities provided by available European funds. Our results confirm previous research indicating that significant savings in energy consumption can be achieved by using RES (especially photovoltaic (PV) modules) and that insufficient financial resources and lack of knowledge are the main obstacles to achieving higher adoption rates of RES and increasing energy efficiency in nautical tourism.

The objective of this article is to present a case study focusing on local development strategies of nautical tourism, currently underway in an inland territory, in the municipality of Avis in the Alentejo region (Portugal). The necessary mobilisation and involvement of the local stakeholders, in the use and valorisation of their endogenous resources toward the construction of an integrated tourist product,in an alternative tourist destination, has been achieved through the application of the world café methodology, which in this case proved to be innovative and fruitful. The results achieved fostered inter‑knowledge and the formation of teams work‑ ing together in a four‑helix process, articulating several local products toward structuring the integrated tourist product – Avis Nautical Station. We have seen how participative methodologies assume a structuring role, critical to success in the development processes. The added value of this article consists in sharing these methodologies toward their incorporation in specific sectors of activity such as tourism and other areas of intervention.

Abstract:
With rapid industrialization, the current social system is facing a variety of crises that deplete resources, pollute the environment and generate large amounts of waste. Excessive destinations dependence on tourism, as a primary economic activity, make them more vulnerable to global crisis situations and their negative effects. The tourism industry is also sensitive to external disasters and the deterioration of the tourism product, and is becoming more exposed to the crisis, which leads to a growing interest in contingency planning. Economic crisis, the crisis in the world shipping economy and political instability represent some of the crisis situations that developed and developing countries are struggling with. The goal of the research is literature review to determine which crisis situations exist in nautical tourism, which ones occur most often and what is the cause of them. Also, by analyzing the content of selected articles, the aim is to present possible solutions to such situations, applying to a greater extent to the principles of sustainable development. This paper analyzes the scientific literature on the crisis situations and their negative effects on nautical tourism, as relatively new multidisciplinary tourism activity. Contrary to the long history of piracy, terrorist attacks, as a one type of crisis situations that occur in the maritime industry are rare. However, high-energy consumption, high water pollution and increased port production, consequently negatively affect the ecological environment. Pollution created by vessels, in addition to disrupting the natural ecological balance, also encourages climate change, therefore, ecological restoration measures can help improve the quality of the environment on land and in water.

The existing tax models in nautical tourism, different for an individual country, contain various additional taxes already analyzed in scientific researches, while the characteristics and impacts of occupancy tax have been left neglected. The aim of the paper is to examine the impact of occupancy tax on the competitiveness of the price policy in nautical tourism within the Mediterranean countries, by performing the comparative analysis of tax models between the European Union member states and other Mediterranean countries. The results obtained have shown different and hardly comparable tax models, determined by the strategic orientation of the individual country in nautical tourism. The charges of the representatives of two target groups, the occupancy tax prices in Montenegro and similar models in Croatia and Greece have been compared, where the research findings indicated Montenegro as more competitive than the two other EU countries in all categories of the analysis. The obtained results have neglected other destinations comparative advantages mainly favorable to the EU countries having excellent development perspectives. The small scale participation of the occupancy tax in the overall tax model should not allow long-term outflow of the users in the European Union’s nautical tourism due to short-term revenue growth.

Abstract:
This study investigated the main aspects and consequences of urban regeneration in the context of sustainable development, using the example of the town of Tivat, whose radical urban transformation was initiated in the post-referendum transition period after 2006, when decision-making policies created a new environment for development. The focus of the research was the impact of the Arsenal brownfield regeneration on the urban development of Tivat in Montenegro, following its decades-long transformations from industrial settlements (military shipyard) to the “new town” of Porto Montenegro (the center of nautical tourism), which is 10 km away from the UNESCO World Heritage site in Kotor, which had a strong influence on the development of Tivat. The theoretical and empirical research was focused on three aspects of sustainability. This study identifies key parameters that indicate the specific causes and consequences of the urban transformations, as well as impacts of nautical tourism on the development of a particular tourist destination with accompanying sustainability factors. The urban regeneration of Tivat, as an example of an urban laboratory in the Mediterranean, can be used for comparative measurements of the success of the brownfield process of regeneration of various tourist destinations in the context of sustainability.

Abstract:
This paper deals with marinas as potential places of refuge. A place of refuge is a port, a part of a port, a sheltered wharf or anchorage, or another sheltered area where temporary accommodation of vessels and marine facilities is possible in order to render assistance or avoid potential threats to humans, ships and the environment. Marinas, as the most important type of nautical port, are suitable for smaller vessels. In countries like the Republic of Croatia, where the development of nautical tourism is of great importance, the obligation of marinas to provide assistance or grant access to ships in distress needs to be established. Thereby, it is essential to take into account all marina characteristics and compare them with those of other types of ports. In Croatian legislation, places of refuge are regulated by the Ordinance on Places of Refuge compliant with IMO Guidelines A.949 (23) and A.950 (23) and European Directives (2002/59 / EC). The paper analyses the suitability of the marinas as places of refuge for vessels, primarily vessels for nautical tourism.

Abstract:
While in the world cruising considers the emergence, especially for Croatian coast, ports and ships, it can be concluded that it is still a specific form of tourism. In Croatia, in the last few years a segment of small cruisers has been developed. A “mini” does not have the same meaning as in the world of cruising. This name in the world means a time-limited travel to large ships while in Croatia, size, date available ships, as well as their capacity for receiving passengers imposed by this title just because it does not have the mega-cruisers. The development of old timers cruise prompted the little family business along the Adriatic coast. Small family cruiser companies also develop a fleet of fast boats of medium capacity to transport tourists along the coast and on the islands. The competitiveness of domestic cruise products in the international environment has not been the subject of research; therefore there is no publicly available knowledge. The contribution of this work is reflected in the fact that with the offer of mini cruise trips analysis and a survey conducted on tourists satisfaction with the offer in this segment, conclusions have been adopted on the current offer of travel and classification of vessels used for this new segment of the cruise lines offer in Croatia has been made.
