Abstract:
This work deals with the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as an application of the “win-win-win papakonstantinidis model”-the social wellbeing, bargaining (A-B-Community) Model which leads in a more justice more equality, more faith in the state and law. Starting from Ramzi Souleiman (2013) findings, on the “economic-harmony” equilibrium, this study goes one step more, in a synthesis between market(NE) and ethical economics(Economic Harmony equilibrium), so called the “equi-harmony” –the end of the sensitization process The suggested model’s theoretical background is analyzed as the main “interaction’s methodological tool” focusing on Utility Function

Abstract:
Given gaps and intersections between education and social practice, this article goes to the next step. Efforts are focused on “what must be done,” what policy must be applied so that gaps and intersections must be eliminated, that means “all about the graduated from any education level could be absorbed by the labor market in a period. Conventional policies have failed, and alternative solutions are promoted by the scientific community among them, some scientists propose quite new forms, as the compassion-social entrepreneur. In this volume-section a quite radical reversal concept is proposed Instead of “good trade practices” in the frame of a high risk hard competitive market’s environment”, the “High Risk Ethical Priorities” is proposed taking into account market trends, and competition. From this point of view, the term “High Risk Ethical Priorities” (HREP) is introduced (for the first time), by this article. Finally, the two criteria, the Chi-square and the NE have been used, for the point of the unique equilibrium (deviation=0) be detected.

Abstract:
Balancing energy generation and consumption is essential for smoothing the power grids. The mismatch between energy supply and demand would not only increase the cost on both sides, but also has a great impact on the stability of the system. This paper proposes a novel energy sharing mechanism (ESM) to facilitate the consumption of local energy. With the help of the ESM, multiple prosumers have an opportunity to share surplus energy with neighboring prosumers. The problem is formulated as a leader–follower framework based on the Stackelberg game theory. To address the aforementioned problems, a deep deterministic policy gradient (DDPG) is applied to solve the Nash equilibrium (NE). The numerical results demonstrate that the proposed method is more stable than the conventional reinforcement learning (RL) algorithm. Moreover, the proposed method can converge to NE and find a relatively good energy sharing (ES) pricing strategy without knowing the specific system information. In short, it is notable that the proposed ESM can be seen as a win–win strategy for both prosumers and the power system.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Povzetek V članku so predstavljeni izzivi in uspešnost zaposlovanja in zadrževanja vojaških oseb v Slovenski vojski ter vloga ugodnosti in nadomestil v nekaterih članicah Nata. Ključne besede: Slovenska vojska, oborožene sile, zagotavljanje virov, zaposlovanje in zadrževanje kadra v vojski, beneficije in nadomestila. Abstract This article presents the challenges and the success of recruitment and retention of military personnel in the SAF. It also addresses the role of benefits and compensations in some NATO member states. The transition to a professional army in the SAF and its legal framework do not support the conclusion of its professionalization. Fifteen years after abandoning the conscription system, the SAF has come to a big dilemma regarding its functionality. This has occurred because the recruitment and retention of its members have not been successful. Due to a high level of vacancies in SAF units and consequently their low continuity and stability, military units have great difficulty achieving high capacity standards and consequently the competence of carrying out their main mission – combat ability. The SAF as an organization is exposed to important demographic and economic pressure of the labour market and is nowadays not perceived as an alluring employer for young people. It is, therefore, in urgent need of a new socio-political consensus within the society, not only to ensure its future development, but also its sheer existence. Key words: Slovenian Armed Forces, armed forces, provision of resources, military recruitment and retention, benefits and compensations.

Bostock, Sophie. "The pictorial wit of Domenico Tiepolo." Thesis, University of Warwick, 2009. http://wrap.warwick.ac.uk/3144/.

Full text
Abstract:
This thesis takes a new approach to Domenico Tiepolo’s (1727-1804), Divertimento Per li Regazzi (c.1795-1804), it is arguably the artists most enigmatic graphic work, which features the commedia dell’arte character Pulcinella. The drawings have hitherto been subject to rigorous connoisseurial analysis. Indeed, in his introduction to ten of the drawings in a catalogue of Italian Eighteenth-Century Drawings in The Robert Lehman Collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, James Byam Shaw states that this particular series of drawings has now become so famous ‘that it is hardly necessary to add to the literature of the series.’1 In my opinion it would be a great pity if future generations of scholars were discouraged by this remark, for I believe the drawings still have much to ‘tell’ the contemporary art historian and would further benefit from increasingly interpretative readings. Previously, scholars have regarded Domenico Tiepolo as an imitator of his father, Giambattista Tiepolo (1696-1770), and interpreted the re-appropriation of motifs in the Divertimento as signs of old age and fatigue. I suggest, on the contrary, that in this series of drawings in particular, Domenico was an innovator. This project carves out new territories within the study of the series in that it focuses on the playful nature of the drawings, and how the suite can be understood in relation to contemporary theory concerning games and play, and ludic musical/improvisatory forms. Additionally, the drawings are discussed as a case history in a now popular emerging dialectic on the late works of aged artists: here I consider how these drawings, often funny, poignant, sensitive and delicate reveal how the elderly painter reconciles himself not only to the passing of his own life and the extinction of his family line but to an entire political, cultural and visual tradition.

Battle, Emma J. V. "Deep-sea bioluminescence of the porcupine seabight and porcupine abyssal plain, NE Atlantic Ocean." Thesis, University of Aberdeen, 2004. http://digitool.abdn.ac.uk/R?func=search-advanced-go&find_code1=WSN&request1=AAIU186087.

Full text
Abstract:
To examine deep-sea bioluminescence in situ, observations were made using an intensified (ISIT) camera mounted on an autonomous lander, at the Porcupine Seabight and Abyssal Plain regions of the north-east Atlantic ocean. The vertical distribution of bioluminescence (down to 4800m depth) showed an exponential disease in the number of organisms that could be mechanically simulated to emit light. Autumn profiles showed a deep luminescent layer (40 events/m -3) between 1200 and 1600m, which was not present in spring deployments (10 events/m-3). Above this a layer of warm, high salinity Mediterranean-derived water was identified and it is suggested that bioluminescent organisms were trapped below this layer due to its physical properties. Static benthic studies examined the distribution of organisms that emitted bioluminescence, without extrinsic stimulation, in the presence of bait. Of the eleven deployment locations, one site (ca. 51°10'N, 11°40'W) recorded an average of 3.52 bioluminescent events per minute, compared to 0.37 events at other locations (at depths from 970m-4000m). At this bioluminescent hotspot, organisms attracted into the field of view did not include known luminous species. This suggested the involvement of small epibenthic or infaunal organisms that produced light as a defensive reaction to the activity of organisms at bait. The difficulty in maintaining deep-sea organisms in a laboratory has limited the study of the ecological function of bioluminescent emissions. To investigate the use of bioluminescent emissions as intraspecific signals, studies were performed in the laboratory with shallow water bioluminescent ophiuroids (Amphiura filiformis ). The emissions were initiated by chemical stimulation and were associated with limb autonomy, typical of a defensive response. No evidence was found for the use of bioluminescence as an intraspecific signal.

Abstract:
This thesis describes the water chemistry of the River Dee and its tributaries, and the potential water chemistry changes that may occur under acid deposition and land use change scenarios. Historic water quality and flow records were collated and supplemented with new water chemistry data. These data were analysed in relation to catchment geography and river flow using both mathematical modelling and novel, GIS based techniques. This analysis established the importance of diffuse inputs and highlighted differences between upland and lowland regions in the catchment. In headwater streams, different geological types create hydrochemical source areas that strongly influence stream chemistry whilst in lowland tributaries, agricultural sources are particularly important. In the upland region most major ions were diluted as flows increased, further emphasizing the influence of deeper geological sources on baseflow chemistry, but showing soilwater controls on stormflow composition. The headwaters, which drain predominantly acid rocks, are presently oligotrophic but threatened by the impact of acid deposition and land use change (re-afforestation). In some of the lowland tributaries, increased NO3-N concentrations have resulted from more intensive land management. The potential impacts of acid deposition and land use change were simulated in both upland and lowland catchments by considering existing and new models within a Functional Unit Network. For upland regions this consisted of developing a new, two component hydrochemical mixing model to simulate the spatial and flow-related variations in streamwater acidity. The mixing model was based on End Member Mixing Analysis (EMMA), and site specific end members (alkalinity and Ca) could be predicted from emergent catchment characteristics (soil and land use) using linear regression.

The aim of this graduate thesis is to analyze if and how the extra-parliamentary subject Akce D.O.S.T. influence the society and if the subject can be described as radical right-wing populist. Case Mudd's concept of the populist radical right was applied in the Citizen Association Akce D.O.S.T. to answer to these questions. On the basis of the Piero Ignazi' s theory silent counterrevolution follows the evaluation if the current conditions for the growth of the extreme and radical right-wing parties and similar subjects are favourable in the Czech Republic and if their growth could be expected. Attention is also focused on whether the economic conditions that have an impact on voters, influence their support for right-wing parties.

Abstract:
Surface waves are simulated and extreme parameters are calculated in Weifang Port in this paper. Firstly, wind data of every 3 hours from 1985 to 2010 in the Bohai Sea are simulated by Weather Research Forecast Model (WRF). Then wave elements such as significant wave height, wave period and wave direction are simulated every 1 hour from 1985 to 2010 by SWAN model in the whole of Bohai Sea. By comparison and validation, both the simulation wind data and wave data show a good agreement with the observation data. Extreme parameters of wind speed, wave height and wave period in every direction are calculated according to Pearson-III distribution at the −15m isobath in Laizhou Bay. The results show that the strong wind and wave are in direction N, NNE and NE. Surface waves are calculated using MIKE21 SW to study wave propagation from the open sea to the coast. The wave elements inside of the submerged breakwaters are calculated by three empirical formulas. The results from the three formulas are different, and the conservative result is chosen considering engineering safety.

Abstract:
The rapid increase in global communication infrastructure in developing countries has drawn significant attention to the telecom sector. However, the dismal performance of the power sector in some countries like Nigeria poses a great challenge to the telecom industry which requires a reliable, efficient and environmentally friendly energy supply. Unstable electric grids, an erratic power supply, non-availability of trained and skilled personnel, and a prohibitive cost of site maintenance cumulatively have increased the need to harness abundant renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind. A comparative study of the viability of solar-diesel hybrid against diesel-only generator systems in powering a base station using the cost of kilowatt hour (kWh) self-generated electricity and levelised cost of energy (LCOE) was undertaken using data from some sites located in the Southwest (SW) and the Northeast (NE) regions of Nigeria. Homer Pro Software was used in data analysis. The results obtained showed that with a hybrid energy system (solar and diesel generator), there were 79% savings in fuel consumption, 83.2% savings in operation and maintenance cost for the hybrid energy system in the SW. The savings on fueling as a result of the use of hybrid systems was 86%, and the carbon footprint reduction was 76%. Furthermore, the cost of operation was reduced by 51% for Northeast. The LCOE for the solar hybrid system was determined to be $1.44 for NE1A and NE1B while that of NE2A was $1.46 and NE2B $1.47.

Abstract:
The goal of the US Department of Energy (DOE) hydrogen production portfolio is to research and develop low-cost, highly efficient and environmentally friendly production technologies based on diverse, domestic resources. The DOE Hydrogen Program integrates basic and applied research, as well as technology development and demonstration, to adequately address a diverse range of technologies and feedstocks. The program encompasses a broad spectrum of coordinated activities within the DOE Offices of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), Nuclear Energy (NE), Fossil Energy (FE), and Science (SC). Hydrogen can be produced in small, medium, and larger scale facilities, with small-scale distributed facilities producing from 100 to 1,500 kilograms (kg) of hydrogen per day at fueling stations, and medium-scale (also known as semi-central or city-gate) facilities producing from 1,500 to 50,000 kg per day on the outskirts of cities. The largest central facilities would produce more than 50,000 kg of hydrogen per day. Specific technologies currently under program development for distributed hydrogen production include bio-derived renewable liquids and water electrolysis. Centralized renewable production pathways under development include water electrolysis integrated with renewable power (e.g., wind, solar, hydroelectric, or geothermal), biomass gasification, solar-driven high-temperature thermochemical water splitting, direct photoelectrochemical water splitting, and biological production methods using algal/bacterial processes. To facilitate commercialization of hydrogen production via these various technology pathways in the near and long terms, a “Hydrogen Production Roadmap” has been developed which identifies the key challenges and high-priority research and development needs associated with each technology. The aim is to foster research that will lead to hydrogen production with near-zero net greenhouse gas emissions, using renewable energy sources, nuclear energy, and/or coal (with carbon capture and storage). This paper describes the research and development needs and activities by various DOE offices to address the key challenges in the portfolio of hydrogen production technologies.

Abstract:
The Northern Tornado Project’s third year of detecting, assessing and documenting tornadoes and other damaging wind events across Canada saw some interesting extremes – tornadoes in parts of both the Atlantic and Pacific coasts for the first time in decades, an apparent absence of tornadoes on the Prairies over the 60 days with the highest climatological frequency, a record number of significant (EF2+) tornadoes in Ontario, and massive downbursts in NE British Columbia, NW Alberta and SW Northwest Territories associated with an historic ‘heat dome’. On top of this, the COVID-19 pandemic was still spreading across the country in waves. Thankfully, it subsided enough over the summer that NTP teams were able to travel safely to various locations across the country for ground surveys. Some of the most challenging ground surveys investigated high-impact damage from the July 15th EF2 Barrie, Ontario tornado, and others significant tornadoes from that day.
