Abstract:
Dermatitis neglecta is a condition secondary to inadequate cleansing of the skin due to underlying causes such as pain, surgical site, neurological deficit, and neglect or psychocutaneous disorders. The result is an accumulation of keratin debris, sweat, sebum, and dirt giving a hyperkeratotic, hyperpigmented, and waxy appearance of the affected area. Soakage of the lesion with alcohol swabs and frictional cleaning of the area leads to the clearing of hyperkeratotic debris. We report a case of a 2-year-old male with dermatitis neglecta over meningomyelocele in the sacral region.

Psychodermatology, an emerging field in dermatology, investigates the complex relationship between the skin and the mind. The results show that Ses completely inhibited the growth of P. neglecta at 600 μg/mL (minimum inhibitory concentration and minimum fungicidal concentration), with an EC50 of 142 ± 13.22 μg/mL. ABSTRACT Free radicals are one of the causes of chronic and degenerative diseases. Antioxidants can protect the progression of free radical mediated disorders. The aim of this study was to evaluate the antioxidant activity of Spirogyra neglecta (Hassall) Kützing in rats. The rats were divided into 5 groups. Group 1 served as control. Groups 2 and 3 were administered hot water extract of S. neglecta at 50 and 200 mg/kg bw, respectively, while groups 4 and 5 were fed 1% and 4% S. neglecta mixed diet, resp., for 13 weeks. Antioxidant enzymes were evaluated in livers of the rats. The activities of

The occurrence of developmental abnormalities in two ovoviviparous littorinids (Littorina neglecta and a barnacle-dwelling form of L. saxatilis) inhabiting the barnacle zone at Peak Steel, Ravenscar on the north-east coast of England was investigated. In general developmental abnormalities appeared to be a rare occurrence in both taxa. However, L. neglecta was found to have a significantly greater proportion of deformed embryos in their brood pouches than L. saxatilis B (Figure 1). A distinct seasonal variation in the number of developmental abnormalities was observed in L. neglecta, and it is

The most commonly used plant namely Malva neglecta (family Malvaceae) was brought under study after observing their medicinal values. The aim of this study is to demonstrate the antibacterial activity of Malva neglecta Wallr against (Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Klebsiella pneumonia, pseudomonas aerginosa and Bacillus cerus) and to determine the antifungal activity of these plants against the fungi (Aspergillus niger, Fusarium solani). The study showed that the Malva neglecta have potent activity against tested bacterial species and fungal species. The plant showed best activi

ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to evaluate binding potential of Mulva neglecta mucilage (MNM) with subsequent comparison to PVP K30. Eight batches of Diclofenac sodium tablets were prepared by wet granulation technique keeping different concentrations (4, 6, 8 & 10% w/w) of Mulva neglecta mucilage (extracted from leaves of Mulva neglecta) and PVP K30 as standard binder. The granules of formulated batches showed bulk density (g/mL) 0.49 ± 0.00 to 0.57 ± 0.00, tapped density (g/mL) 0.59 ± 0.01 to 0.70 ± 0.01, Carr's index 09.27 ± 0.95 to 19.65 ± 0.59, Hausner's ratio 1.12 ± 0.00 to 1.24

Abstract:
Smegmoliths are hard local accumulations of smegma, mostly seen in children with phimosis. This is due to difficulty in adequate cleansing of the subpreputial area. It is not a common finding in adults. We report a case of smegmolith occurring in an adult male as a manifestation of dermatitis neglecta. Dermatitis neglecta occurs secondary to improper hygiene when a person avoids cleansing a part of his body either due to physical disability, neurodeficits or psychiatric disorder. It should be diagnosed promptly as only cleansing the part with nwormal saline would effectively treat this conditi

The identity of Celastrina species in eastern Canada is reviewed based on larval host plants, phenology, adult phenotypes, mtDNA barcodes and re-assessment of published data. The status of the Cherry Gall Azure (C. serotina Pavulaan & Wright) as a distinct species in Canada is not supported by any dataset, and is removed from the Canadian fauna. Previous records of this taxon are re-identified as C. lucia (Kirby) and C. neglecta (Edwards). Evidence is presented that both Celastrina lucia and Celastrina neglecta have a second, summer-flying generation in parts of Canada. The summer generati
