SUMMARY Neologisms and Language Planning in Quebec This article discusses government intervention in language matters, particularly in the area of terminology. How, it questions, does the government of Quebec approach the planning of French terminology in legislative texts and political announcements relative to such aspects of language it wishes to influence as the introduction of neologisms, borrowing, and the use of regionalisms? The author suggests a two-sided approach to language management is at work, one that conceives of terminology from an institutional point of view and advocates sit
