Abstract:
The paper presents a very straightforward and effective algorithm to convert a space partitioning, made up of polyhedral objects, into a 3D block of voxels, which is fully occupied, i.e. in which every voxel has a value. In addition to walls, floors, etc. there are 'air' voxels, which in turn may be distinguished as indoor and outdoor air. The method is a 3D extension of a 2D polygon-to-raster conversion algorithm. The input of the algorithm is a set of non-overlapping, closed polyhedra, which can be nested or touching. The air volume is not necessarily represented explicitly as a polyhedron (

Abstract:
Several years ago at a regional NCTM conference in Phoenix, the author was fascinated by a set of card board Platonic solids that were nested inside each other. The Platonic solids are polyhedra whose faces are congruent regular polygonal regions, such that the number of edges that meet at each vertex is the same for all vertices; only five are possible. since the set is no longer commercially available, the author decided to make a nested set for classroom demonstrations and instruction for students to make their own.

STM experiments were performed to study modifications on the surface of crystalline and amorphous transition metal chalcogenides. Pulses with different parameters were applied to the STM tip, at predefined locations, while scanning the surface of WSe 2 and MoS 3. Different types of structures were formed on the crystalline WSe 2 surface: (a) holes, (b) mounds, (c) ringlike structures. The three types were formed at different ranges of voltage. In some cases local cleavage of the surface was observed. An explanation is offered for the creation of such a variety of structures. On the amorphous M

We prove weighted anisotropic analytic estimates for solutions of second-order elliptic boundary value problems in polyhedra. The weighted analytic classes which we use are the same as those introduced by Guo in 1993 in view of establishing exponential convergence for hp finite element methods in polyhedra. We first give a simple proof of the known weighted analytic regularity in a polygon, relying on a new formulation of elliptic a priori estimates in smooth domains with analytic control of derivatives. The technique is based on dyadic partitions near the corners. This technique can successfu

After serially undiluted passage of Spodoptera exigua multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus (SeMNPV), persistently infected Se301 cells were established. A cell strain, in which no polyhedra or viral particles were observed, was cloned and designated P8-Se301-C1. The P8-Se301-C1 cells are morphologically similar to but grow slower than Se301 cells and they can homologously interfere with SeMNPV. PCR analysis showed that SeMNPV ie-0 and polyhedrin genes were present but DNA polymerase and orf67 genes were absent in P8-Se301-C1, suggesting that the cells harbour incomplete SeMNPV genomes. AbstractWe present a brief survey on some classes of central configurations of then-body problem. We put special emphasis on the central configurations of the 1+n-body problem also called the coorbital satellite problem, and on the nested central configurations formed by either regularn-gons, or regular polyhedra. We also present some conjectures.

Abstract:
We study topological bifurcations of critical orbits of equivariant gradient equations. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of global bifurcations of solutions of these equations. Moreover, we apply these abstract results to the study of bifurcations of new families of planar and spatial central configurations of the N-body problem. It is worth pointing out that the shapes of the bifurcating families are less symmetrical than the shapes of the considered families of planar and spatial central configurations.

Abstract:
Efficient memory usage is crucial for data-intensive applications as a smaller memory footprint ensures better cache performance and allows one to run a larger problem size given a axed amount of main memory. The solutions found by existing techniques for automatic storage optimization for arrays in a new loop-nests, which minimize the storage requirements for the arrays, are often far from good or optimal and could even miss nearly all storage optimization potential. In this work, we present a new automatic storage optimization framework and techniques that can be used to achieve intra-array
