Abstract: Nestlé Pakistan is a subsidiary of Swiss multinational company Nestlé. The company is known for its quality food products throughout the world. It commits to help shape a better and healthier world and inspire people to live healthier lives. Nestlé Pakistan shares the Nestlé Global’s three overarching ambitions for 2030 to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by helping 50 million children live healthier lives, help to improve 30 million livelihoods in communities directly connected to its business activities and strive for zero environmental impact in its operations. Abstract:

Abstract:
This paper examines the marketing activities of Nestlé in the Ottoman Empire between 1870 and 1927. Nestlé began with the same strategy it had developed in Western markets for the Ottoman market. But the Ottoman political, social, and cultural context differed considerably from Europe. The article explores how Nestl´e responded to this complex marketing environment with increasing local differentiation. It goes on to demonstrate that as well as its variegated approaches to the ethnically, religiously, and culturally heterogeneous urban consumer, Nestlé's success derived from its ability to connect with different strata of society. I argue that the Ottoman Empire, and especially its capital Istanbul, were strategically essential to Nestl´e's development of its adaptive global marketing strategy.

Abstract:
The future of global water supply and availability is one of the most important questions facing life on earth today, and experts agree that the most pressing angle to approach the question from is its governance. However, water represents one of the worlds broadest and most complex fields of governance due to its cross thematic and cross-boundary reach, as well as an increase in new actors through privatisation and transnational corporate influence.  In order to actively implement new governance approaches the current system, its actors, connections and influence strategies must be identified. This study combines three theoretical and methodological approaches to study our current global water governance structure: Neo-Gramscian, Network analysis and Policy Entrepreneurship. The Neo-Gramscian influence theory is used to identify 3 types of connections between actors. The resulting data is then used for network analysis to identify the key actors within the field. Once these key actors have been identified, all Nestlé (as a case study for transnational corporations) connections to said actors and the field of water governance have been highlighted under the combined theoretical lenses of Neo-Gramscian influence and Policy Entrepreneurial strategies. These three theories are used in conjunction for several reasons: All three theories represent a different perspective of analysing the decentralised, large scale governance of a complex system. While network analysis allows for the visual representation of the governance “space” and for the identification of key actors and their connections, the Neo-Gramscian and policy entrepreneur approaches give insight into how these connections might be used and created in order to lead to a position of influence within the system. The results show a list of 42 key actors to whom Nestlé has a large number of self-reported connections across all 3 influence types. It further shows that Nestle actively uses at least 3 of the 4 entrepreneurial strategies on some of these connections. This suggests that Nestlé may have some significant influence in global water governance. The study is also a proof of concept for the synthesis of the three complementary theories.

Abstract:
This paper deals with competition policy both in the European Union and in Portugal. It analyses the benefits of competition to the economy and it investigates why enterprises and States adopt non-competitive behaviors. To this purpose, it presents the main European competition policy tenets: prohibition of anti-competitive agreements (cartels), of abuse of dominant position, of mergers and acquisitions and of illegal State aids. A specific example of competition policy in Portugal "the Nestlé Case" is developed in this context. The case illustrates an anti-competitive practice of abuse of dominant position and enables us to understand the intervention of the Portuguese Competition Authority.

Abstract:
Agribusiness is one of the major forces in global economic development. Since the 1980s, diversification has been seen by agribusiness as one of the right strategies to improve and increase its status, but the COVID-19 pandemic has exposed the vulnerabilities of agribusiness. In this new context, companies have capitalized on the marketing dimension, shaping their identity to transfer and add value, especially to end consumers. The brand is an intangible bridge that strengthens entrepreneurial capital. The paper aims to analyze the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the main players in the agribusiness industry, taking into account marketing performance indicators such as turnover, rating and brand value before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Exploratory research was performed based on the analysis of secondary data. Given the annual agribusiness reports, the first ten agribusinesses were generated and analyzed using the rankings on turnover, profit and brands developed by Forbes, Brand Finance and Interbrand. The research classified agribusiness taking into account the market they addressed: B2B, B2C, or mixed formula. Only Nestlé is present in all the rankings. From the rating point of view, the pandemic generated by the new Coronavirus did not produce notable implications on the brand of the big players in the international agribusiness. For Romanian agribusinesses, Transavia, Cris-Tim, Vel Pitar are in the top ten in terms of turnover and brand value. The study emphasizes the complementarity of analyzes and the interdependence between them.

Emmons, Gavin. Prairie and peregrine falcon occupancy and productivity monitoring at Pinnacles National Park: 2023 annual report. National Park Service, 2024. http://dx.doi.org/10.36967/2302448.

Abstract:
Pinnacles National Park (?Pinnacles?) provides diverse habitats for numerous cliff-nesting raptors, including prairie falcons (Falco mexicanus) and peregrine falcons (F. peregrinus), as well as a spectacular array of summits and cliff-wall routes for rock-climbers. This monitoring program was established to determine long-term trends in the number of occupied territories and productivity of nesting prairie and peregrine falcons. The monitoring program grew out of a need to reduce potential disturbance that climbers and off-trail hikers may have on cliff-nesting raptors. The falcon monitoring program began with a pilot effort in 1984, and after two years of no monitoring efforts in 1985 and 1986, monitoring data have been collected annually from 1987 to the present. This report summarizes the results from the 2023 breeding season and represents the 38th year of monitoring at the park, consistent with the standardized methods and procedures detailed in the Prairie Falcon Monitoring Protocol for Pinnacles National Monument (Emmons et al. 2011). To monitor falcons, field technicians surveyed all potential nest sites three times per breeding season, with visits spaced 21 to 28 days apart. We revisited those nests determined to be active to confirm rearing of nestlings and fledging of young. In 2023, we conducted monitoring from 1 January 2023 until 9 July 2023, with a total of over 150 possible and active nest sites monitored during 870 observation hours. For prairie and peregrine falcons combined, we documented 14 territorial pairs this year, with 12 pairs actively nesting. Six nests successfully fledged 17 young; six nests failed. For prairie falcons specifically, we documented ten territorial pairs, with three nests successfully fledging 10 young. For peregrine falcons, we documented four territorial pairs, with three nests successfully fledging 7 young. Falcon fecundity for the 2023 season was notably lower compared to the 37-year average. The data from 38 years of falcon monitoring at Pinnacles suggest an apparent cyclic population pattern in annual prairie falcon productivity, supplemented by increased peregrine falcon breeding efforts in recent years (Appendix C).

Abstract:
In the Common Eider Somateria mollissima, only females incubate the clutch over a period of 25–28 days. Determining their schedule of nest absence, how long they are away, how often, and where they go can be problematic. They must also avoid nest predation while tending to their own needs. We used geolocators to investigate the behavior of incubating females on forested islands in Dolgaya Guba Bay (65°03′N, 035°47′E), White Sea, Russia. Data were obtained for 12 females: three in 2015 and 2016, four in 2017, and two in 2018. During the entire incubation period, females left their nests for the sea 12–28 times. The average duration at sea was 331.0 ± 53.8 min, including 261.1 ± 47.9 min during the darkest hours in otherwise 24-hour daylight. The patterns are similar to those of eiders nesting in lower, nonpolar latitudes, where nights are dark.
