The research question of this article is: In what way can a user centered innovation process contribute to identifying key values in mobile innovations? The aim of this article is threefold: firstly, to identify key values for the e-newspaper, secondly, to examine the intention to adopt a new possible innovation and thirdly, to explore user centered design processes ability to capture user values early in the innovation process. We have identified seven key user values: mobility, availability, personalization, usability, interactivity, readability and environment. Furthermore, we found that surprisingly many would consider exchanging their traditional newspaper with an e-newspaper in the future, indicating that the e-newspaper have a fair chance of becoming an important innovation. Abstract:
Purpose: The chapter identifies the complexities of Covid-19’s impact on the economy. The empirical part presents and assesses initial reactions of inflation, industrial production, unemployment rate, Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate, and shifts in the GDP expenditure structure. Design/methodology/approach: Acomplete Keynesian macroeconomic model is used to outline how the negative shock hit the economies. The model shows potential implications of the use of reactive economic policy measures. Based on the model, the empirical part provides comparative analyses of reactions of four economies of the European Monetary Union (EMU) – namely France, Germany, Italy and Spain – two non-EMU economies of Hungary and Poland, and two major large open economies: the USA and Japan. Findings: The Covid-19 pandemic has sent a universal, global shockwave with asymmetric outcomes in individual economies. Covid-19 hit all economies and struck both the demand side and – after ashort time lag – the supply side. Although interconnected, the economies have maintained notable structural differences and, therefore their autonomous reactions to negative demand and supply shocks were diverse. Practical implications: The complete macroeconomic Keynesian model allows for the conceptualization of the transmission of the Covid-19 shock on the economy’s supply and demand sides. The model is also a helpful tool in the analysis of the potential role of economic policy in reaction to the supply and demand shocks triggered by the pandemic. Originality and value: The empirical analyses unveil the eight economies’ differentiated reactions to similar counter-crisis policy measures. Their scale in all cases pushed the state back to the center of economic life. This structural shift requires attention and systematic theoretical and empirical studies.

Abstract:
Purpose: The aim of the chapter is to analyze the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and market volatility increase on risk management in the OTC derivatives market in Poland. Design/methodology/approach: The chapter describes the legal background of derivatives trading with non-financial enterprises, then identifies the main risks, and discusses possible actions of market participants. In this regard, the study conducts volatility analysis based on selected market data. Findings: Due to volatility increase and the resulting negative valuation of non-matured currency derivatives by Polish exporters, margin call clauses were triggered, entailing the need to post additional collateral or prematurely close contracts. The described situation is particularly difficult when the pre-settlement limit is fully utilized on deal date, usually in the case of long-lasting large open exposures in non-flexible transactions. Research implications: To determine market risk, studies often apply the VaR approach. Inthis way, the specific amount of risk is analyzed on adaily basis and used by banks both to determine the maximum amount of the contract and to control pre-settlement risk. Apart from many advantages of the VaR approach, there are some drawbacks, especially related to volatility estimation, which usually relies on historical market fluctuations. It may cause that the risk will not be properly valued under crisis conditions. In such situations, supplementary methods should be also implemented (stresstests). Practical implications: Under high market volatility, preventive actions should be prepared in advance, including treasury limit increase, additional funds for collaterals, or contracts modification (flexible products should be considered).Originality and value: The study covers a challenge that banks face, which is rarely described in professional literature but very serious for bank management. Under normal market conditions, if the margin call clause appears and no additional collateral is posted, the transaction should be closed to limit the counterparty’s loss. However, this type of action during the pandemic may impose the risk of force majeure. From the company perspective, using such instruments threatens their early settlement and the need to finance closeout amount.

Abstract:
Trauma and acute care surgery (TACS) constitutes the foundation of emergency surgical services in the United States. Blunt and penetrating traumatic injuries are a leading cause of death worldwide. Non-trauma general surgical emergencies are also a major source of morbidity and mortality. Operative interventions performed within the scope of TACS often revolve around the core principles of contamination control, hemostasis, surgical repair, and subsequent functional restoration. Hemorrhage control is an integral part of emergent operative interventions, and while most instances of surgical bleeding require direct suture ligation or some other form of direct tissue intervention, some circumstances call for the use of adjunctive means of hemostasis. This is especially applicable to situations and settings where direct applications of surgical energy, suture ligation, or direct compression are not possible. Difficult-to-control bleeding can be highly lethal and operative control can be very challenging when confounded by the lethal triad of acidosis, coagulopathy and hypothermia. Topical biosurgical materials (BSM) are of great value in such scenarios, and their use across a variety of settings, from pre-hospital trauma application to emergency general surgery operations, represents an important adjunct to improve patient outcomes. Here we present the different BSMs, discuss their various uses, and provide insight on future applications and developments in this important area.

Abstract:
The failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) is widely used an effective pre-accident risk assessment tool to identify, eliminate, and assess potential failure modes in different industries for enhancing the safety and reliability of systems, process, services, and products. Therefore, this chapter presents a new approach to rank the failure modes under the interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy set (IVIFS). For this, a novel measure to measure the fuzziness known as entropy measure is proposed. Some properties and axiom definition of the proposed entropy measure have been presented to show the validity of it. Afterwards, the proposed entropy measure is utilized to obtain the weight of risk factor and developed an approach under the IVIFS environment to determine the risk priority order of failure modes. Finally, a real-life case of FMEA has been discussed to manifest the developed approach, and obtained results are compared with the results obtained by the existing methods for showing the feasibility and validity of the proposed approach.

Abstract:
This chapter looks at the twenty letters that Joseph Weiss sent to the author in Cambridge, Massachusetts, over the years 1949 to 1968. These letters offer an insight into Weiss's spiritual constitution and into the extraordinary friendship that developed between him and Professor Gershom Scholem, its vicissitudes notwithstanding. The letters are of value not only for the personal and biographical details they contain, but also because they contribute to a deeper understanding of Weiss's scholarly work, while at the same time enriching one's knowledge of intellectual life in Jerusalem and in the Jewish academic community of the 1950s. Undoubtedly, however, their greatest importance is that they provide a new perspective on Weiss's complex personality and add a unique and personal dimension to his scholarly bequest. Joseph Weiss's letters are unusually frank: they speak of the changing circumstances of his life; his poverty and alienation, particularly during his unsettled period in England in the early 1950s. There are hints of his ambivalence towards Diaspora Jews in England and towards the State of Israel, and one sees his response, wounded and sarcastic, to the criticism of his bold new approach to the study of hasidism.

Abstract:
Many classes of algorithms that suffer from large complexities when implemented on conventional computers may be reformulated resulting in greatly reduced complexity when implemented on quantum computers. The dramatic reductions in complexity for certain types of quantum algorithms coupled with the computationally challenging problems in some bioinformatics problems motivates researchers to devise efficient quantum algorithms for sequence (DNA, RNA, protein) analysis. This chapter shows that the important sequence classification problem in bioinformatics is suitable for formulation as a quantum algorithm. This chapter leverages earlier research for sequence classification based on Extensible Markov Model (EMM) and proposes a quantum computing alternative. The authors utilize sequence family profiles built using EMM methodology which is based on using pre-counted word data for each sequence. Then a new method termed quantum seeding is proposed for generating a key based on high frequency words. The key is applied in a quantum search based on Grover algorithm to determine a candidate set of models resulting in a significantly reduced search space. Given Z as a function of M models of size N, the quantum version of the seeding algorithm has a time complexity in the order of as opposed to O(Z) for the standard classic version for large values of Z.

Findings: At the end of November 2020, it is difficult to identify the pattern of changes to the flows of the discussed categories based on the analysis of information from the pre-pandemic period. Practical implications: The creation of a“new” division between the EU countries as a result of Covid-19 may result in a change in the priorities of functioning within the entire Union and in a change in the rules of redistribution of the EU funds. Originality and value: An original way of framing decisions on capital structure, investment decisions and dividend policy through the prism of the Balance of Payments flows.

Abstract:
Understanding the proper use of biomarkers requires clinicians to appreciate some critical pre-analytic and analytic issues, as well as how to use the markers properly. The benefits of such an approach will not only facilitate the care of patients today, but will also prepare clinicians to understand and embrace the new generation of markers that is coming and that will continue to make this area transformational for cardiology. Two fundamental concepts underlie the clinical use of biomarkers: First, biomarkers should always be used in conjunction with all other clinical information. Second, in order to maximize their diagnostic and prognostic use, biomarkers should be interpreted as quantitative variables. For example, a cardiac troponin level which is 50 times the upper limit of normal has a much higher positive predictive value for the presence of an acute myocardial infarction, compared to a level just above the upper limit of normal.

Abstract:
A concept for natural-gas fired power plants with CO2 capture has been investigated using exergy analysis. The present approach involves decarbonization of the natural gas by authothermal reforming prior to combustion, producing a hydrogen-rich fuel. An important aspect of this type of process is the integration between the combined cycle and the reforming process. The net electric power production was 47.7% of the Lower Heating Value (LHV) or 45.8% of the chemical exergy of the supplied natural-gas. In addition, the chemical exergy of the captured CO2 and the compression of this CO2 to 80 bar

Abstract This paper discusses the workflow and method of selecting optimum number of infill and injection wells based on incremental recovery. Normally, for infill wells study, a ‘creaming curve’ method is used to evaluate the optimum number of wells against incremental recovery from the field. However, in the case of determining number of infill wells together with water injection wells, a more comprehensive approach is needed. One needs to evaluate the pressure depletion rate from existing and infill wells together with the dynamic of the producer-injector pairings as well as the sweeping fa

Abstract The integrity decisions for cracked pipelines can be made based on the conventional Finite Element Method (FEM). However, it is extremely time-consuming due to the requirement of remeshing to continuously conform to the geometric discontinuities as the crack propagates. The more recently developed Extended Finite Element Method (XFEM) provides a more robust approach in which a crack can propagate through the finite element analysis mesh and thus alleviates the requirement for remeshing. However, the current criteria for crack initiation and propagation in XFEM framework have not been
