Abstract:

NS-2 is a tool to simulate networks and events that occur per packet sequentially based on time and are widely used in the research field. NS-2 comes with NAM (Network Animator) that produces a visual representation it also supports several simulation protocols. The network can be tested end-to-end. This test includes data transmission, delay, jitter, packet-loss ratio and throughput. The Performance Analysis simulates a virtual network and tests for transport layer protocols at the same time with variable data and analyzes simulation results based on the network simulator NS-2.

Abstract:

In this paper we modify the DSR protocol for energy consumption and also study the comparison of various routing protocol. DSR protocol is on demand source routing protocol .source routing means when source initiate route discovery process then It finds routes from source to destination .but in DSR more energy consumption. To modify the mechanism of DSR for route selection procedure.In this paper we propose EDSR protocol which reduces the total energy consumption in the network by selecting minimum energy consuming path. It is simulated in NS2 and visualize by nam (network animator).

The IEEE 802.11 and IEEE 802.15.4 are two of the most popular wireless network protocols. And it is very important to look into the differences between IEEE 802.11 MAC and IEEE 802.15.4 MAC.
