In low-cycle fatigue process, plastic strain takes place at notch root vicinity fast appears induced by high stress concentration. The Neuber relation is widely used to compute elastoplastic stresses and strains at stress concentrations, but a newer relation has been developed by Glinka. Prediction of local strain response is important because low cycle, fatigue life models are based on the strain range. Abstract:

The influence of machined surface roughness on the fatigue life of S355JR steel has been investigated. The specimen have been machined with three roughness levels and tested under plane fatigue. The surface roughness parameters were used to estimate the effective stress concentration factors Kt using the Arola-Ramulu model and Neuber model. In this paper it is proposed a modification for both models. Based on the experimental results was obtained the evolution of the effective stress concentration factor for the original Arola-Ramulu and Neuber models and also for the modified ones.

A preceding paper reported the results of biaxial strain measurements at the roots of notched aluminum specimen subjected to monotonic tension loading. The specimens had different amounts of constraints at the notch root, and it was shown that a modified version of the Neuber relation gave some improvement in its predictive capability. Abstract The paper analyses the possibility of using analytical methods of notch stress-strain correction in low-cycle fatigue life predictions of steam turbine rotors operating under non-isothermal conditions. The assessment was performed by comparing strain amplitudes calculated using the Neuber and Glinka-Molski methods and those predicted by the finite element analysis (FEA) employing elastic-plastic material model. Um diesen Veränderungen gerecht zu werden, müssen bisherige Ansätze des Produktivitätsmanagements an die neuen Bedingungen angepasst werden. Nur so kann ein produktivitätssteigernder und damit erfolgreicher Einsatz neuer Technologien und digitaler Wandel hin zur vernetzten Produktion in einer Industrie 4.0 sichergestellt werden. Abstract:

The Fitness-for-Service assessment of Zr 2.5Nb pressure tubes in CANDU reactors requires the evaluation of fatigue. As-designed, the pressure tubes do not contain notches, but in operation various degradation mechanisms, such as fretting and crevice corrosion, can generate flaws with small root radii. Since these flaws are exposed to the coolant, an assessment of environmental effects on fatigue life is needed, and fatigue tests are being conducted to obtain the fatigue curve. The pressure tubes are located in areas of high neutron flux, and thus the material is subject to irradiation effects.

Fatigue crack growth models based on elastic–plastic stress–strain histories at the crack tip region and strain-life damage models have been proposed in literature. The UniGrow model fits this particular class of fatigue crack propagation models.
