<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm; font-weight: normal; line-height: 0.18cm;" align="JUSTIFY"> </p><p class="Padro">Apesar dos anos 1980 serem apontados como o primeiro grande momento em que <em>shoppings centers </em>são construídos no Brasil, é durante os anos 1990 que esse tipo de empreendimento urbano se espalha pelo território nacional para além dos limites das capitais. O <em>Shopping Neumarkt</em>, inaugurado em 1993 na cidade de Blumenau, Santa Catarina, entra nesse movimento de expansão em direção às cidades de porte médio no interior. Por meio do uso de periódicos e entrevistas orais, dois acontecimentos-chave são abordados: a inauguração e consolidação do <em>Shopping Neumarkt</em> e a reurbanização da rua XV de novembro, compreendendo todo o período da década de 1990. Pelo fato de essa reurbanização ser usualmente apontada como uma maneira de transformar a rua XV de novembro num <em>shopping</em> a céu aberto, foi desenvolvida uma relação entre a construção do <em>Shopping Neumarkt</em> e a cidade de Blumenau. O objetivo da pesquisa está em compreender uma nova forma de relacionamento da cidade. Abstract:

Dresden's historic reconstructions bring up questions that reach far beyond the city's new/old Neumarkt district. In this thesis, I would like to take a closer look at the current ideological discourse surrounding the reconstruction of destroyed historic buildings in Dresden and other cities in the former DDR. What seems at first to be a simple culture war between progressive and reactionary city planners is actually, I will argue, a unique historical moment that blurs the dogmatically held ideas of rationality and nostalgia, ornament and function, and high art and kitsch. From the uncanny shadow of a church recently raised from the dead, I will explore the aesthetic and ethical ramifications of the technologically reproduced building.

Abstract:

In der Debatte um den Wiederaufbau am Dresdner Neumarkt werden zwei alternative Lesarten der Stadt sichtbar. Einmal fungiert diese als Abbild historischer Erfahrungen, deren Spuren nicht eilfertig überdeckt werden dürfen. Eine analytisch geschulte Architekturhaltung sucht hier auf den fragmentarischen Erinnerungsschichten weiterzubauen. Ihr geht es um Geschichte – um eine die Gegenwart identifizierende, aber auch um die vergangene, die in den Resten spürbar bleiben soll. Im andern Fall wird die Stadt als ein Raumkunstwerk mit zeitlosen Qualitäten aufgefasst. Ist dieses architektonische „Gefäß“ beschädigt, wie in Dresden, gilt es, die Bruchstücke wieder zu ihrer vormaligen Wirkung zusammenzufügen. Bei diesen Rekonstruktionsbemühungen, auch wenn sie am Vorzustand orientiert sind, geht es nicht um ablesbare Geschichte, sondern um die Heilung der Wunden, die sie geschlagen hat
In the debate on reconstruction of Dresden’s Neumarkt area, two alternative notions of the city become apparent. In the first case, it is seen as a history book, reflecting long experiences whose evidence should not be covered up overhastily. An architectural approach with a trained analytical sensibility aims at incorporating fragmentary layers of memory into contemporary design. This concept is concerned with history. By articulating the present, it differentiates it from the past, whose character should remain visible in the layers of time. In the other case, the city is seen as a spatial work of art with timeless values. If this architectural “vessel” is damaged, as in Dresden, the goal is to put the pieces back together into their former unity. Such reconstruction efforts, even if they are guided by previous states, are not concerned with history, but with healing the wounds that history has inflicted

Abstract:

This thesis examines seven of Devora Neumark's artistic interventions that activate an embodied transfer or continuity of knowledge. I am inspired by phenomenologist Maurice Merleau-Ponty's notion of "the flesh of the world," that is the element enabling a reversibility between subject and object, specifically with regard to the body. Neumark draws from a repertoire of her everyday activities like crocheting or peeling beets to make a stew. She resituates the activity from one which is traditionally practiced in the private sphere of the home, often undervalued, to one which critically engages passersby in various urban settings. I study the repetitive capacities of these everyday activities, how they are negotiated in the public sphere, and how they remain (re)productively in the flesh through body-to-body transmission. Flesh becomes the operative concept in this thesis and activates a phenomenology in Neumark's interventions that goes beyond Merleau-Ponty's and which engages with both aesthetic and socio-political questions.

Abstract:

Le mémoire qui suit porte sur les relations entre l'art actuel québécois et la vie quotidienne. Nous cherchons à étudier plus particulièrement les modes d'appréhension de la vie quotidienne des pratiques artistiques de BGL, de Jean-François Prost et de Devora Neumark. La proximité de ces pratiques avec l'espace quotidien engendre une modification des paramètres traditionnels, non seulement de création mais également, de réception des oeuvres et des interventions. Ces dernières misent sur l'exploration de l' « indécidabilité », de la mouvance et des « entre-deux » pour engendrer des manières inédites d'envisager l'espace quotidien. Leurs oeuvres et leurs interventions créent des rapprochements et des mises à distance, par rapport à la vie quotidienne, qui remettent en question la vision homogénéisée et standardisée du monde contemporain. Nous étudierons, dans un premier temps, le contexte de création des oeuvres et des interventions, nous mettrons l'accent sur « l'expérience sociale du quotidien ». Deux caractéristiques prédominantes du monde contemporain, l'excès et le paradoxe, nous permettront, par la suite, d'analyser les transformations de ce dernier. Nous étudierons la façon dont les artistes actuels investissent l'espace quotidien au moyen de tactiques. Ces « manières de faire » mettent l'accent sur la mobilité en se jouant des frontières et de la rigidité des normes sociales. Les tactiques artistiques permettent à BGL, à Prost et à Neumark d'appréhender la vie quotidienne de manière autre, d'une part, en explorant et en activant des «mi-lieux» et d'autre part, en adoptant une posture artistique similaire à celle de la figure théorique du nomade. Ensuite, les études de cas seront analysées en fonction des notions de rituel et de jeu. Ces notions, aux fondements de la « socialité », nous permettront d'analyser de manière plus spécifique les relations qui se tissent entre l'individu et le collectif lors des pratiques artistiques. Ces dernières permettent aux artistes d'instaurer des rapports ambigus à l'espace quotidien par le biais de « l'agir mimétique ». Enfin, à la lumière de ces études de cas, nous verrons que les oeuvres et les interventions contribuent à allier le corps physique et le corps social, en générant des relations qui sont autant locales que globales. Les oeuvres et les interventions touchent ainsi le récepteur par le biais de la médiation corporelle, tout en s'inscrivant dans le réseau de pensée qu'est « l'écologie cognitive ». Les agencements, créés par les relations esthétiques, contribuent également à rapprocher les oeuvres et les interventions de questions d'ordre politique et éthique. Abstract:

À partir de l'observation de pratiques artistiques relationnelles, ce mémoire vise à la fois à identifier la relation comme un enjeu majeur de l'art actuel et à la définir comme concept opératoire pour l'analyse critique de ces pratiques en fonction de leur spécificité. Cette recherche est fondée sur la réévaluation de deux cadres conceptuels: d'une part, la théorie esthétique développée par Nicolas Bourriaud dans l'Esthétique relationnelle (1998) et, d'autre part, la problématique de l'in situ, qui est considérée comme un ancrage historique pour l'analyse des pratiques relationnelles. Proposant de revenir au fondement de la relation pour la définir comme espace de négociation entre soi et l'autre, cette étude permet de considérer les pratiques relationnelles en dehors de l'emprise conceptuelle exercée par l'Esthétique relationnelle de Nicolas Bourriaud. Elle propose également, à partir d'une conception anthropologique de la relation, de dépasser une analyse des pratiques relationnelles qui a souvent été effectuée en fonction de la notion d'in situ en histoire de l'art, en insistant sur la nécessité de considérer qu'un glissement s'opère, du site à la relation, quant à l'ancrage de l'art dans le champ social. La contribution de ce mémoire est de pointer la nature conflictuelle de la relation comme fondement d'une analyse critique des pratiques relationnelles, à partir d'exemples qui explorent la relation comme expérience vécue, en fonction de son altérité et de son effectivité. Cette recherche s'appuie sur cinq études de cas, afin de montrer qu'envisager la relation comme espace de négociation fait émerger de nouvelles questions, directement liées à la rencontre entre des individus. Abstract:

The use of non-classical evolutionary optimization techniques such as genetic algorithms, differential evolution, swarm optimization and genetic programming to solve the inverse problem of parameter identification of dynamical systems leading to chaotic states has been gaining popularity in recent years. In this paper, three popular evolutionary algorithms — differential evolution, particle swarm optimization and the firefly algorithm are used for parameter identification of a clearance-coupled-impact oscillator system. The behavior of impacting systems is highly nonlinear exhibiting a myriad of harmonic, low order and high order sub-harmonic resonances, as well as chaotic vibrations. The time-history simulations of the single-degree-of-freedom impact oscillator were obtained by the Neumark-β numerical integration algorithm. The results are illustrated by bifurcation graphs, state space portraits and Poincare’ maps which gives valuable insights on the dynamics of the impact system. The parameter identification problem relates to finding one set of system parameters given a chaotic or periodic system response as a set of Poincaré points and a different but known set of system parameters. The three evolutionary algorithms are compared over a set of parameter identification problems. The algorithms are compared based on solution quality to evaluate the efficacy of using one algorithm over another.
