Abstract A clean, efficient, and solvent-free method for the synthesis of Bis-chalcones and Pyrazoles was carried out with the help of microwave irradiations and neutral alumina. The novel class of Bischalcones and pyrazoles were comprehended by the treatment of N-phenyl succinimides with p-fluoro benzaldehyde. The cyclic imide on condensation with p-fluoro benzaldehyde furnished a series of bis chalcones and further, they undergo cyclization with hydrazine hydrate to furnish pyrazoles. Alumina is a well-known catalyst and catalyst support. The electrochemical properties of alumina have recently gained attention. Abstract:
Adsorption on neutral alumina of a keto ester derived from the diterpene lauren-1-ene has been shown to yield a new keto ester with an unusual bridged tricyclic ring system. With trifluoroacetic acid, both keto esters yield a further new compound which contains a benzene ring. The transformations involved may be rationalized in terms of carbocationic rearrangements. An alcohol derived from the compound with the bridged tricyclic ring system has been converted into a cyclopentacyclononene derivative by β -cleavage of the alkoxy radical.

The total synthesis of puerariafuran and its derivatives was achieved for the first time by the direct reaction between substituted α‐bromoacetophenones and resorcinol. The reaction was mediated by neutral alumina and was fully regio‐controlled. Subsequently, the Sonogashira coupling method was applied for puerariafuran preparation. Finally, the anti‐inflammatory effects of these prepared compounds were evaluated in lipopolysaccharide (LPS) stimulated RAW 264.7 macrophages. The results revealed that puerariafuran and its derivatives show weak inhibition activity on the production of inflammato

Aluminum alloy coatings for pretreatment are developed by sol-gel method. The adhesion between sol-gel film and the paint film was measured by scratching circles and corrosion resistance of sol-gel film was tested by salt spraying experiment. The adhesion between sol-gel film made by pure alumina sol and the paint film was so poor that it is unsuitable for ground coatings, but the composite sol which ultrafine Al2O3 powder was added to pure alumina sol can improve the adhesion and corrosion resistance. Abstract A reverse-phase liquid chromatographic (LC) method is described for simultaneously determining 5 coccidiostats—aklomide, dinsed, ethopabate, nitromide, and zoalene in chicken liver. The method entails blender extraction of 10 g liver with ethyl acetate, column chromatography through Sephadex LH-20 and neutral alumina, and LC analysis on a C18 column with UV detection at 260 nm. The drugs were eluted from Sephadex with methanol-benzene (10 + 90), from alumina with methanol-dichloromethane (10 + 90), and from C18 with acetonitrile-water (linear gradient: 25% acetonitrile for 10 min, inc

With about 180 million tonnes produced per year1, red mud has amassed to one of the largest environmentally hazardous waste products, with the staggering amount of 4 billion tonnes accumulated on a global scale1. Here we present how this red mud can be turned into valuable and sustainable feedstock for ironmaking using fossil-free hydrogen-plasma-based reduction, thus mitigating a part of the steel-related carbon dioxide emissions by making it available for the production of several hundre

Despite the importance of surface charge for ice nucleation, many questions remain on the molecular-level mechanisms at work. Here, we combine droplet-freezing assay studies with vibrational sum frequency generation (SFG) spectroscopy to correlate interfacial water structure to surface nucleation strength.
