Throughout the sixteenth century France looked towards Italy with an intensity rarely matched before or since. Generations of French kings pursued dreams of conquest on the peninsula; during their Italian campaigns French noblemen and their retinues spent extensive periods south of the Alps, gaining firsthand experience of Italian language and culture. Dynastic marriages linked leading French families with different Italian states: the Retz with the Florentine Gondi, the Nevers with the Mantuan Gonzaga and the Guise with the Este of Ferrara, among many others.

Abstract After the success of his Pastorale d’Issy (1659), Perrin envisaged the foundation of a national lyric theatre modelled after the Italian academies. Eager to prove the viability of opera in the French language, he immediately wrote two more opera librettos in the comic and tragic genres: Ariane, ou le Mariage de Bacchus and La Mort d’Adonis. According to the fréres Parfaict, Perrin and Cambert formed a partnership with the Marquis de Sourdéac and, assured of Mazarin’s protection, they petitioned for a privilége to produce operas in French; meanwhile, they gave several rehearsals of Ariane at the Hotel de Nevers. ‘Finally, everything was ready to open a new theatre in Paris, when the death of Cardinal Mazarin, which occurred at Vincennes on 9 March 1661, postponed the projects of these associates.’ Despite his solicitations to the King and Colbert, eight years were to pass before Perrin finally acquired the royal opera privilége.

No records have been disinterred of French actors in this country between 1495 and 1629 ; and although there are a few of Italian actors, their visits seem to have been confined to a single brief period. The head-quarters of Italian comedy during the middle of the sixteenth century was at the Court of Mantua, and when Lord Buckhurst went as ambassador to congratulate CharlesIX of France on his wedding, it was by Louis Gonzaga, Duke of Nevers and brother of the Duke of Mantua, that he was entertained on 4 March 1571 ‘with a comedie of Italians that for the good mirth and handling thereof deserved singular comendacion’.

Abstract:
Since Westinghouse Savannah River Company (WSRC) of America first applied PUREX process in 1954, PUREX process is always the top priority in nuclear fuel reprocessing plant. And this process is based on liquid to liquid extraction with TBP as the extractant. TBP is irreplaceable in the development of PUREX process in nuclear fuel reprocessing, its advantages are well recognized. However TBP does have some disadvantages such as formation of red oil, which will appear in the system of high nitric acid concentration and heavy metal nitrate, once the red oil forms, it can lead a exothermic runaway

Abstract:
A puzzle in the sociolinguistic history of Sanskrit is that texts with authenticated dates first appear in the 2nd century CE, after five centuries of exclusively Prakrit inscriptions. Various hypotheses have tried to account for this fact. Senart (1886) proposed that Sanskrit gained wider currency through Buddhists and Jains. Franke (1902) claimed that Sanskrit died out in India and was artificially reintroduced. Lévi (1902) argued for usurpation of Sanskrit by the Kshatrapas, foreign rulers who employed brahmins in administrative positions. Pisani (1955) instead viewed the “Sanskrit Renaissa

Abstract:
The Quadrimaran was invented in France in the mid-1980s by Daniel Tollet. It was an inspired design and a radical departure from traditional ship design by a man from outside the marine industry unconstrained by industry technical practices and education. Technical experts could see it would entail more structure and subsystems than other high-performance vessels, but its promise was that those penalties would be more than offset by its claimed low power and fuel consumption. A prototype/demonstrator, Alexander, was built in 1990 and operated for five years carrying and impressing many hundred

This deliverable synthesizes the first results on public perceptions of marine Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) methods from a cross-country survey in Canada, China, France, Germany, Norway, and Taiwan. The purpose is to inform the other work packages in OceanNets and stakeholders about our results in a timely and brief manner about the ways members of the public view marine CDR specifically. The survey was fielded in April 2023, has approximately 2000 observations in each country, and aims to be representative for the population active online in the respective country. It covers the marine CDR ap
