In the design of armor piercing, fin-stabilized, discarding sabot projectiles, the radial stiffness of the sabot front borerider has a significant impact on the projectile's dispersion and is, therefore, an important design consideration. Whether designing a new projectile or trying to improve an existing design, projectile designers can achieve front borerider stiffness without understanding its affect on dispersion characteristics. There is a knee in the stiffness vs. dispersion curve at which a change in the sabot front borerider stiffness will have a significant impact on dispersion or no

The purpose of the present work is to visualize the separation dynamics of a new lift separation sabot. Conventional sabots used for launching kinetic energy projectiles are a major contributor to the dispersion of the penetrator due to the mechanical interaction between sabot and the penetrator during separation. A sabot with an aerodynamic lifting surface close to the center of gravity is designed and launched from a 25mm caliber gas gun. The visualization results show that the sabot is separating from the penetrator with less rotation of the sabot which leads to less mechanical interaction

Abstract:
Flipped classroom is not a new concept in education. Students are expected to be well-prepared before coming to face-to-face sessions since they have to read/watch/listen to the lectures through the learning management system (LMS) or an e-learning portal before coming to the classes. What traditionally was practised is that students were given lectures during face-to-face sessions. Now, the lectures are online, and only activities to enhance students’ understanding will take place during face-to-face sessions. The concept is now being implemented successfully in some higher learning instituti

An executed NDA is required from Solar Turbines to have access to this document. The low load control algorithm for Solar Turbines' Taurus 70-10802S and Titan 130-20502S has been modified and evaluated in two field trials at the Kinder Morgan Wharton 301 and Enbridge Sabal Trail Alexander City Compressor Stations. The new algorithm extends temperature control, via bleed valve modulation, to lower engine speed settings now covering operation from full load to idle vs full load to 50% load with the prior production control method. The pilot fuel control schedule has also been optimized along wit

Abstract:
The oil palm is an economically important crop due to its high productivity and broad industrial applicability (Sabate 2016). In Colombia, this crop is grown in di erent agro-ecological zones (Borrerio 2018) where the environmental conditions are favorable to several insect pests. One of the most economically important pests is the fruit scraper Demotispa neivai (Bondar, 1940) (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) (Aldana et al. 2004). To control this pest, CENIPALMA isolated in Colombia (Barrancabermeja), and selected the strain of Metarhizium anisopliae CPMa1502 as a new active principle for biologica

Abstract:
The global pandemic has brought renewed attention toward the everyday challenges in informal settlements. COVID-19 reminds us that southern urban life is rooted in ‘collective’ experiences where toilets and kitchens are shared by multiple families; where the categories of work and home, private and public space overlap; and where the majority live in vulnerable conditions. Despite these challenges, some of the most innovative and collective responses to COVID-19 have emerged from these areas. While informal settlements did face a host of risks and vulnerabilities during the pandemic, local res

Full text
Abstract:
The Southeast Coast Network (SECN) conducts long-term terrestrial vegetation monitoring as part of the nationwide Inventory and Monitoring Program of the National Park Service (NPS). The vegetation community vital sign is one of the primary-tier resources identified by SECN park managers, and it is currently conducted at 15 network parks (DeVivo et al. 2008). Monitoring plants and their associated communities over time allows for targeted understanding of ecosystems within the SECN geography, which provides managers information about the degree of change within their parks’ natural vegetation.
