The emerging view takes a different approach to value creation: it’s interactive, relationships-based and synchronic. But either of these views capture fully the value creating importance of elements present especially in converging industries: coopetition, networks and external relationships. Weak Value Amplification (WVA) is a signal enhancement technique proposed in 1988 by Aharonov, Albert, and Vaidman that has been widely used to measure tiny changes that otherwise cannot be determined because of technical limitations. It is based on: i) the existence of a weak interaction which couples a property of a system (the system) with a separate degree of freedom (the pointer), and ii) the measurement of an anomalously large mean value of the pointer state (weak mean value), after appropriate pre and post-selection of the state of the system. McGregor, Mark Takeshi. "Of instrumental value : flutist-composer collaboration in the creation of new music." Thesis, University of British Columbia, 2012. http://hdl.handle.net/2429/42936.

Abstract:
Following World War II, the flute would become a major vehicle for experimental composers, resulting in a repertoire that made extensive use of techniques outside the instrument’s traditional performance lexicon. In order for composers to write effectively and idiomatically for the flute, collaboration with performers was often essential. This document discusses the contributions of three flutists to the creation of new music in the 20th and 21st centuries. Chapter One focuses on the Italian flutist Severino Gazzelloni, a major figure in the postwar experimental music scene, and his contribut

Abstract:
This thesis focuses on the new product development (NPD) process and the organizational structure which supports the process. The expected payoff method is borrowed from economic theory and is modified to be able to quantitatively evaluate processes. The method is used to evaluate and compare sequential and concurrent engineering processes. The method is also used to evaluate different organizational structures that support NPD processes. Thus, the relationship between process effectiveness and organizational structure is investigated. Study results are compared with observations of act

Objectives The objective of this thesis is to develop and test a new method, based on Time Trade-Off (ITO), for the estimation of the monetary value of a QALY (MVQ) informed by public preferences. Methods Two new questions are developed to estimate an MVQ which ask respondents to trade off length of life to either increase their income, or avoid a decrease in their income. These questions are initially tested through a Dutch online survey with 321 members of the Dutch general public. The questions are further tested through a small scale pilot study, followed by a UK based interview study with

Abstract:
The problems of post-nineteen sixties left-wing politics are explored by analysing a hypothetical collective memory of the left. This memory claims that the hegemony over thought and practice held by Marxism has been broken down since the nineteen sixties by many different non-class based forms of oppression. The nature of Marxism as one political movement among other such movements is then explored and implications for any movement that tries to base itself on unified and universal values are outlined. It is argued that any politics based on unified values will create oppression because the v
