Abstract:
Healthcare workers are at risk of contracting new coronavirus infections (COVID-19) due to their job responsibilities. The study aims to explore the incidence of a new coronavirus infection of medical workers of private healthcare organization (PHO) of JSC "Russian Railways". To analyze the incidence of COVID-19 among medical workers of PHO of JSC "Russian Railways", we used the data of weekly monitoring conducted by the company from 5.04.2020 to 28.03.2021. The χ2 method was used for statistical processing. The epidemiological data were also smoothed by linear filtering using 2 points. A feature of the medical service of PHO of JSC "Russian Railways" is the continuous nature of its activities. 5 hospitals were converted to COVID hospitals. 12.9% of cases of COVID-19 were recorded among employees of PHO of JSC Russian Railways. The minimum number of cases was registered on the Far Eastern and East Siberian Railways. The maximum number of cases was noted on the South-Eastern and Northern railways. 94% of the sick were on outpatient treatment. Half of the sick are nurses. The testing of medical workers of PHO of JSC "Russian Railways" revealed a higher percentage of people with IgG to the SARS-CoV-2 virus than the number of cases registered. This may indicate an asymptomatic course of the disease in medical workers. Conclusion. The data obtained indicate the effectiveness of preventive measures to protect medical workers of PHO of JSC "Russian Railways" from a new coronavirus infection. The conducted research will increase the effectiveness of preventive measures in the other PHO.

In the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, New York State trust companies were successful, grew quickly, and failed rarely. The few failures, however, played a leading role in shaping the rules that governed trust companies. Because trust company failures were consistently interpreted as isolated departures from the norm of conservative management, trust companies were able to continue to participate in the rule-making process. The institutions that evolved promoted financial stability by imposing the costs of failure on decision makers and discouraging risky behavior. These failures shed new light on the treatment of failure and the development of corporate governance and financial regulation in the United States

The paper presents tuned track bed vibration isolation systems used for the railway and tramway lines. The presented solution based on mass spring systems and is effective especially at lower frequencies. The tuning frequency of such systems is mostly in the range 5 to 8 Hz. With measures based on spring elements elaborated by GERB company the significant vibration and noise reduction coming from the railways and tramways can be achieved. This new technology in Poland can be used during the track structure modernization as well as in the new projects, in which the track bed vibration isolation is required.

Abstract:
The digital transformation of transport systems is one of the priority areas of the country’s strategic development, and requires joint participation and interaction of the state, transport industry enterprises, innovative companies - developers of new technologies and equipment. Constant price pressures and growing customer demands for product and service quality complicate the challenges faced by rail organizations. All these organizations, and first of all JSC Russian Railways, within the framework of the ongoing structural reform, cannot increase the efficiency of their activities using the traditional set of technological, organizational and management solutions to reduce costs for all business processes and divisions of the company. The current state of the Russian economy already allows us to note positive shifts in the field of digitalization. The digitalization of transport as one of the social sectors, the use of modern technical means and programs, makes it possible to increase the efficiency of the transport complex, to ensure high quality services. The authors considered digital technologies in JSC “Russian Railways” used to increase flexibility, efficiency and quality of service provision. The key electronic platforms used by Russian Railways in its work are presented. Disclosed telematic systems used in railway transport to improve safety. Methods are proposed for improving the quality of passenger service at railway stations in the Russian Federation.

Abstract:
Changes in the Russian and global economies have been affecting all sectors. Neither the transport industry nor the construction one is an exception. These industries are budget-forming, and all participants in business processes should be interested in their strategic development. In order for the federal projects developed by the Ministry of Transport to be effective, a new project funding approach is required. Industries and companies have limited financial resources. The Russian Railways company is no exception due to its limited budgetary funds and own financial capabilities. It is necessary to develop effective mechanisms for funding railway infrastructure projects. Project funding mechanisms can be innovative ways of funding large-scale infrastructure projects, since they are based on a combination of banking, commercial and public resources. Project funding can unite financial resources and competences of project participants. In addition, qualified financial institutions will be involved in project funding transactions, which ensures the timely project implantation. Project funding mechanisms allow for a comprehensive project assessment, since the lender confirms the economic feasibility of the project. Project effectiveness evaluation has become relevant after the adoption of a strategy for the development of railway transport in the Russian Federation until 2030. Polygon technologies are promising for Russian Railways and used by the Trans-Siberian Railways.

The JSC (Joint-Stock Company) “Railway Products Conformity Assessment Center”, under a contract with JSC “Lithuanian Railways”, carried out a rolling stock geometry and rolling surface defect risk assessment study which analyzed the principles and algorithm of the ATLAS-LG system used by JSC “Lithuanian Railways” and the system’s advantages and similarities with other systems used for rolling surface defect prediction worldwide. According to the results of this study, JSC “Voestalpine VAE Legetecha” made changes to the algorithms of its ATLAS-LG computing system and changed the parameter used to determine the damage to wheelsets. The goal of this work was to review the automatic systems of rolling stock used to evaluate the state of the rolling stock, compare the criteria for culling, describe the methodology for setting a new parameter for detecting wheel damage Pderivative instead of the previous parameter Kdm, and upgrade operational algorithms of ATLAS. This paper describes the algorithm and methodology for setting a new parameter, evaluating the construction of rolling stock and movement speed. To develop a replacement algorithm for the ATLAS-LG system, a new parameter verification methodology using the inverse Laplace transform for the mathematical model was used.

Abstract:
In every business, the production of knowledge, coming from the process of effective information, is recognized as a strategic asset and source of competitive advantage. In the field of railways, a vast amount of data are produced, which is necessary to be assessed, deployed in an optimum way, and used as a mechanism, which will lead to making the right decisions, aiming at saving resources and maintain the fundamental principle of the railways which is the passengers’ safety. This paper uses stored-inactive data from a Greek railway company, and uses the method of data mining and applies machine learning techniques to create strategic decision support and draw up a risk and control plan for trains. We make an effort to apply Machine Learning open source software (Weka) to the obsolete procedures of maintenance of the rolling stock of the company (hand-written work orders from the supervisors to the technicians, dealing with the dysfunctions of a train unit by experience, the lack of planning and coding of the malfunctions and the maintenance schedule). Using the J48 and M5P algorithms from the Weka software, data are recorded, processed, and analyzed that can help monitor or discover, with great accuracy, the prevention of possible damage or stresses, without the addition of new recording devices—monitoring on trains, with the aim of predicting the diagnosis of the train fleet. The innovative method is capable of being used as a tool for the optimization of the management’s performance of the trains to provide the appropriate information for the implementation of planning and the technical ability of the trains in order to achieve the greatest target of importance for the railways, which is the passengers’ safety.

Abstract:
Historical Survey of the Railway Development in West Africa The present day railway system in West Africa is the result of the transport-policy developed by the colonial powers (France, Great Britain and Germany) at the end of the 19th century. It is remarkable that no network of railways, like in Southern Africa, was brought about. The colonial railways in West Africa were built by the State or by a joint-stock company within the borders of one colony to export the raw materials from the production centres to the harbours. Nevertheless railways were built for more than economical grounds only, in West Africa they had to accomplish a strategic and military role by “opening Africa for the European civilization”. Hargreaves calls railways the “heralds of new imperialism” and Baumgart speaks of the own dynamics of the railways, to push the European colonial powers further into Africa ... The construction of a railway needed a very high capital investment and the European capitalists wouldn’t like to take risks in areas that were not yet “pacified”. It is remarkable how many projects to build a Transcontinental railway right across the Sahara desert largely remained on paper. Precisely because such plans did not materialize, however, the motive force they provided to such imperialist actions as political-territorial annexations can be traced all the more clearly. The French built the first railway in West Africa, the Dakar - St-Louis line (Senegal), between 1879 and 1885. This line stimulated the production of ground-nuts, although the French colonial-military lobby has had other motives. The real motivation became very clear at the construction of the Kayes-Bamako railway. Great difficulties needed the military occupation of the region and the violent recruitment of thousands of black labourers, all over the region. The same problems transformed the building of the Kayes-Dakar line into a real hell. Afterwards the Siné Saloum region has been through a “agricultural revolution”, when the local ground-nuts-producers have been able to produce for foreign markets. The first British railways were built in Sierra Leone and the Gold Coast-colony (Ghana). Jn Nigeria railway construction stimulated the growth of Lagos as an harbour and administrative centre. Lugard had plans for the unification of Nigeria by railways. The old Hausa town of Kano flourished after the opening of the Northern Railway, for other towns a period of decline had begun. Harbour cities and interior railwayheads caused an influx of population from periphery regions, the phenomenon is called “port concentration”. Also the imperial Germany built a few railwaylines in their former colony Togo, to avoid the traffic flow off to the British railways. ifs quite remarkable that the harbours at the Gulf of Guinea-coast developed much later than the harbours of Senegal and Sierra Leone. After the First World War only a few new railways were constructed, the revenues remained very low, so the (colonial) state had to take over many lines. The competition between railways and roadtransport demonstrated the first time in Nigeria, it was the beginning of the decline of railways as the most important transportsystems in West Africa. Only multinational companies built specific railways for the export of minerals (iron, ore and bauxite) after the Second World War, and the French completed the Abidjan - Ouagadougou railway (1956). The consequences of railway construction in West Africa on economic, demographic and social sphere were not so far-reaching as in Southern Africa, but the labour migration and the first labour unions of railwaymen who organized strikes in Senegal and the Ivory Coast mentioned the changing social situation. The bibliography of the West African railways contains very useful studies about the financial policy of the railway companies and the governments, but only a few railways were already studied by economic historians.

In November 1909 William Archer wrote an article for McClure's Magazine in which he surveyed developments in the American theatre over the past twenty years. The most innovative work had been undertaken by non-commercial companies, such as Victor Mapes' Chicago repertory and Winthrope Ames' Castle Square Theatre in Boston, and in the universities: ‘Brander Matthews at Columbia, W. L. Phelps at Yale, and George P. Baker at Harvard’. These ventures took as their models Antoine's Théâtre Libre in Paris; the Freie Bühne in Berlin; J. T. Grein's Independent Theatre, the Stage Society, Vedrenne-Barker at the Court, the Abbey Theatre in Dublin, the Gaiety Theatre in Manchester and Charles Frohman's proposed repertory company at the Duke of York's Theatre. However whereas in the 1890s the progressive theatre in America had been heavily dependent on the European repertoire of plays, when he returned in 1907 Archer found ‘the scene entirely changed’:

Abstract:
Assessment of company performance can be done using traditional and modern techniques. Each test carried out has the advantages and disadvantages of the order if applied to companies listed on major stock exchanges. This study aims to determine the traditional and modern analysis of stock performance indicators on the New York Stock Exchange. The company index used was the Dow Jones index. Company performance was measured using two indicators, namely modern performance indicators reflected in Economic Value Added (EVA) and traditional performance indicators reflected in Return on Assets (ROA), Return on Equity (ROE), Earning Per Share (EPS), and Dividend Per Share (DPS). This research was conducted employing purposive sampling on 29 companies indexed by Dow Jones during the 2015-2018 period. The data analysis techniques used were descriptive statistics, classical assumption test, and multiple regression analysis. The results of hypothesis testing in this study show that partially modern performance indicator, namely Economic Value Added (EVA), has an insignificant and negative effect on Stock Return. Meanwhile, traditional performance indicators, namely Return on Assets (ROA), Return on Equity (ROE), Earning Per Share (EPS), and Dividend Per Share (DPS) have a significant and positive effect on Stock Return. The results of simultaneous hypothesis testing show that Economic Value Added (EVA), Return on Assets (ROA), Return on Equity (ROE), Earning Per Share (EPS), and Dividend Per Share (DPS) have a significant and positive effect on Stock Return. Keywords: Economic Value Added (EVA), Return on Asset (ROA), Return on Equity (ROE), Earning Per Share (EPS), and Dividend Per Share (DPS), Stock Return.

Abstract:
AbstractLiberalisation of railway market can be an important instrument for increasing the attractiveness of local rail services and consequently for making the railways more competitive with other means of transport, which could result in changing the modal share in the favour of railways. The differences in the railway liberalisation level as well as in the policies towards rail transport between Central and Eastern European countries are vast, hence the present situation and the future prospects of regional services are diverse. Whereas there is only one railway line in Slovakia which is not operated by the state railway company ZSSK, a few private local connections which complement a very dense network of ČD state railways are in service in the Czech Republic. Poland, by contrast, is a country where liberalisation of railway market is most advanced as several different companies are responsible for transport in the regions. However, the results of this large scale liberalisation are ambiguous as the positive effects (reopening of some lines) are balanced by isolation of the new regional government-owned systems from each other. In Austria, by contrast, the existence of several private and regional government-owned local railways which are an indispensable part of the regional transport networks has contributed to maintain an effective transport system. Although the effects of liberalisation on the local railway networks can often be ambiguous, several cases from the Czech Republic, Austria and Poland show that privatisation and municipalisation may have a positive effect on the railway service as it has enabled to maintain the service on many sections which were at risk of closure. However, the most important condition of the effective transport development seems to be an active cooperation between the railway operators and the local governments as an expression of appropriate transport policy.

Abstract:
The Larkin Company of Buffalo, New York, was established in the 1870s as a small soap producer and grew to become a large mail-order house. Larkin's success could be attributed to a unique sales strategy created by Elbert Hubbard, called “The Larkin Idea,” which had as its motto, “From Factory-to-Family: Save All Cost Which Adds No Value.” The company sold its products exclusively through the mail to women in cooperative buying clubs. Employing a variety of marketing, advertising, and employee welfare practices, the Larkin Company built a unified corporate family of “Larkinites“—employees, customers, and executives. Larkin executives also hired architect Frank Lloyd Wright to construct a modern office complex, which became the physical representation of Larkin's culture. But changes in marketing, the departure and deaths of key executives, a seemingly anachronistic corporate culture, and poor business decisions combined to undermine the company in the mid-1920s, and by 1940 the company was virtually dead.

Abstract:
The article attempts to investigate the economic preconditions for the formation of the main electric locomotive industry in Ukraine on the example of diversification of production activities of the State Holding Company «Luhanskteplovoz». It is determined that in the late 1980`s, in the absence of convertible currency for the import of traction rolling stock, Luhanskteplovoz received an order from the USSR Ministry of Railways for the development and production of electric freight and passenger locomotives of its own design. However, after 1991, due to the strategy of the Ministry of Railways of the Russian Federation to support the domestic market of main electric locomotives, and especially the lobbying of the renewed Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine regarding the direction of investments to create a state monopoly corporation on the basis of low-power SPA «Dnipropetrovsk locomotive plant», diversification of production activities of OJSC «Luhanskteplovos» focused on a less promising direction of development of production of railcars for social purposes. It is argued that due to the low quality of products caused by the lack of sustainable funding and sound experience in the development of mainline equipment, the order of electric locomotives of SPC «Elektrovozobuduvannia» (SPA«DEVZ») was stopped. Instead, the localization and further development of industrial production at the facilities of HC «Luhanskteplovoz» of new generation freight electric locomotives, created on the basis of design and technological products of LLC «Novocherkassk electric locomotive plant», allowed the company in a short time to significantly increase the growth rate of production and expand cooperation with «Ukrzaliznytsia».
