Abstract:
With nick-translated genomic DNA of the northern creek chub, Semotilus atromaculatus, DNA–DNA hybridization of rodlet cells and cells known to belong to this species showed the same degree of labeling in the nuclei. The amount of hybridization for all cells was greater than that seen in chub cells treated with rainbow trout genomic DNA and than that found when other teleost, amphibian, human, or protozoan cells were treated with chub genomic DNA. Washing experiments at different temperatures also showed that the stability of the hybrids was comparable for both cell types. As a result, the nucl

ABSTRACT | In triploid fish physiology there is a lack of information about its molecular responses under stress and how to quantify the stress levels or intensity. Thus, the goals of this trial were to evaluate the pattern of HSP70 in the gills, heart and muscles of non-stressed diploid and triploid rainbow trouts, and in the blood cells after the exposure to heat stress in order to assess their stress levels. Similar HSP70 immunohistochemical detection in the gills, heart and muscles samples was seen in both ploidies. However, HSP70 expression in blood varied between ploidie

Climate Change and Children Australian children are uniquely situated in a vast landscape that varies drastically across locations. Spanning multiple climatic zones—from cool temperate Tasmania to the tropical North—Australia is home to flora and fauna specific to diverse regions, including arid desert and rainforests, mountainous woodlands, and unique mangrove estuaries and coastal regions. Many of Australia’s endemic species—about 85%—are found nowhere else in the world, and in 2020 alone, 763 new species of flora and fauna were catalogued in Australia (Creswell et al). Abstract:
This is the first of six chapters tracing how waltzes often became performed as duple-meter tunes, inflected with jazz style, via the collective innovation of performance tradition. This chapter is an introduction to the Americanization of the waltz, listing both exuberant and wistful early examples. Also, the term importunate is defined in relation to the corpus. The discussion then focuses on “I’m Sorry I Made You Cry” (Nick J. Clesi, 1916), the earliest waltz with a well-documented career in both three-four and four-four meters, setting the model for waltzes becoming re-inscribed as fox tro
