Introduction: There are various applications and health information systems which have been developed to promote the effective retrieval of patient information, statistics, research, and education. Therefore, there is a need to design them in consistency with scientific principles of usability. To this end, the usability of hospital information sub-systems employed at the hospitals of Ahvaz were compared using heuristic evaluation method. The objective of the study was to assess the usability of hospital information system according to heuristic evaluation.Material and Methods: Six trained eva

Abstract:
This paper reports on an empirical study that compares two sets of heuristics, Nielsen’s heuristics and the SMART heuristics in the identification of usability problems in a mobile guide smartphone app for a living museum. Five experts used the severity rating scales to identify and determine the severity of the usability issues based on the two sets of usability heuristics. The study found that Nielsen’s heuristics set is too general to detect usability problems in a mobile application compared to SMART heuristics which focuses on the smartphone application in the product development lifecycl

Many e-learning features become ineffective, and make users unable to maximize their use. Therefore, a heuristic evaluation approach from Nielsen's is needed to find out the extent of usability in the e-learning. The heuristic evaluation method is a method used to find usability problems of a product using 10 heuristic evaluation principles. Abstract Objective The purpose of this study was to evaluate the usability of a top-rated diabetes app. Such apps are intended to markedly support the achievement of optimal health and financial outcomes by providing patients with substantive and continual support for self-management of their disease between periodic clinician visits. Poor usability can deter use which is especially concerning in patients with diabetes due to prevalence of the disease and impact of self-management on long-term prognosis. Methods A diabetes app was selected due to the prevalence and seriousness of the disease.

One of the requirements that a website must meet is good usability or ease to use. Paperlust is a website platform that facilitates designers selling their work to customers who want to print invitations. The percentage of people who visited and made purchases through the Paperlust website during 2018-2020 was 0.26%, which is still below the e-commerce industry average of 2.27%. Although many factors influence this number, usability strongly influences people's decisions to shop on a website. This study investigates the Usability of the podcast service User Interface (UI) of the iOS app Aftonbladet. The method used originates from a heuristic evaluation technique where semi- structured interviews were conducted with users of the podcast service to explore the usability and to find usability problems. The conducted interviews determined that there existed usability problems with the UI and thus, usability heuristics have been violated in the UI.   Nielsen’s Ten Usability Heuristics for User Interface Design and Nielsen’s Severity Ratings for Usability Problems are applied to the int

Patient-centeredness is an important concept in diabetes treatment. We modified Nielsen's expert heuristic evaluation method addressing common gaps: a patient perspective and variability in findings. Two expert, dual-domain evaluators referred to validated patient profiles (mild, moderate, severe diabetes) when conducting uniform evaluation processes on a diabetes mHealth system. Evaluators found 103 usability problems and 224 heuristic violations. For 69% of the problems, the profiles had an effect on severity ratings. “Consistency and Standards” (n = 57) and “Ma
