Abstract:
This article explores the N. S. Leskov’s novels “No Way Out” and “At Daggers Drawn”, which are the most famous anti-nihilist works of the author. The writer saw nihilism as a threat to legitimize vices as the norms of human existence, considered it a false direction in the culture of public life in Russia. These novels occupy a steady position in a number of anti-nihilist works of the 60s in the XIX century, in which one of the central topics was the theme of the family (the similarity with the Russian classical novel).

Abstract:
In Soviet times, Boleslav Markevich's novel trilogy was unconditionally considered to be among the most orthodox anti-nihilistic works. However, already contemporary to the author, conservative criticism considered the nihilists to be the artistically weakest heroes of this trilogy. What is in the centre of Boleslav Markevich's narrative, is the historical fate of the Russian nobility, which suffered a crushing defeat during the “great reforms” of the 1860s, rather than nihilists. Boleslav Markevich shows that that defeat was associated with a deep spiritual crisis of the enlightened part of t

This article presents Eugene Rose’s critique of nihilism, the philosophy which he had himself embraced and was devastated by before his conversion to Orthodoxy, before his monastic tonsure and ordination to priesthood. The article argues that Rose’s treatise is not just an ex-nihilist’s and neophyte’s defence of Christianity, but a philosophical analysis of the errors and perils of nihilism, whose relevance today is manifested, for instance, by Putin’s policy and his war in Ukraine.

Abstract:
Abstract Gershom Scholem devised the ironic formulation that Kafka’s literature depicts the Kabbalah from a secular perspective. This declaration, when unraveled, offers an indispensable key to understanding Scholem’s views on Kafka. Scholem’s formulation stems from his dialectical perspective of Jewish history and his reliance on the notion of Zimzum therewith. For Scholem, Kafka’s literature manifests the tenor of the Kabbalah without the Kabbalah’s content. The kabbalistic tenor of his literature reflects Kafka’s actual world in which God’s commandments have dissipated but the faintest whis
