Podstawowym zagadnieniem jest w nim więź między rozwojem nihilizmu a wieloma odmianami niemieckiego idealizmu na przełomie XVIII i XIX wieku. Pierwszą część poświęcono badaniom nad pochodzeniem pojęcia nihilizmu. Część druga dotyczy recepcji filozofii Immanuela Kanta i zwróconych przeciwko niej zarzutów nihilizmu. Many of the writings of Leo Strauss were dedicated to combating the "crisis of modernity". This crisis was for him the advent and acceptance of nihilism--a state of being wherein any principle one dare dream is allowed and judgment must be withheld. He claimed that the promotion of nihilism at the hands of modern social scientists would lead to the downfall of civilization. Yet, this work seeks to show that all of these claims are made by Strauss in an attempt to hide the "truth" of nihilism from the masses and that Strauss, in fact, is a nihilist thinker. This thesis examines the relationship between nihilism and postmodernism in relation to the sublime, and is divided into two parts: theory and literature. Beginning with histories of nihilism and the sublime, the Enlightenment is constructed as a conflict between the two. Rather than promote a simple binarism, however, nihilism is constructed as a temporally-displaced form of sublimity that is merely labelled as nihilism because of the dominant ideologies at the time. The present paper analyzes Nietzsche’s ideas about the cultural crisis from the standpoint of nihilism. According to Nietzsche, nihilism takes over modern civilization and raises the question of values. To the decline, or as Nietzsche call it, “the decadence” that led to the crisis in values, Nietzsche contrasts his “active” nihilism, which has to find “new values”. The article examines the situation that has arisen in the Black Sea region in connection with the systematic violations by NATO ships of the provisions of the 1936 Montreux Convention on the Status of Straits between the Black and Mediterranean Seas.
