Abstract:
This work is a study of the effects of oxides combination on the morphology of 316L stainless steel welds. A series of thirteen weld lines were carried out using thirteen different oxides. Based on the depth and ratio D/W results, three candidate oxides were selected: Ti2O, Mn2O3, and SiO2. Mixing method available in Minitab 17 software is the most appropriate method to find the optimal combinations to get the best depth and D/W ratio. According to simplex lattice degree four, nineteen combinations of these oxides were prepared. The results show that the optimal composition of flux was: 66%SiO

Abstract:
This chapter investigates how social influence is a formidable force operating across many arenas of human experience, including adolescence. To describe adolescence as a crucible is to think about it not only as a particular phase of life between the ages of thirteen and nineteen, but also a social milieu where intense interaction has powerful effects on people's ways of thinking, acting, and being. Even as teenagers are engaged in a deeply personal process of self-discovery over the adolescent period, they are profoundly influenced and shaped by those around them. Given the power of peer influence to shape who we are, extending the period of intensive youth interaction in the first half of the twentieth century to include the adolescent years was a portentous development. More than a simple extension, it represented a major shift in the developmental process because of important differences between childhood and the teenage years.

Much may be learned about Lawrence’s aesthetics from his involvement and preferences in the design of dust jackets, boards, and illustrations in published editions of his own works. Many readers of Lawrence know his work from rather dull uniform editions, some published in England during his lifetime by Martin Secker. However, Lawrence’s main publisher in the USA, Thomas Seltzer, published much of his work in a variety of eye-catching dust jackets. In addition, a good number of Lawrence’s other works were published in expensive limited editions or privately published, some beautifully illustrated. This chapter traces how Lawrence, as an author of increasing standing, came to influence the appearance of his books, while often promoting the talents of artistic friends. It is beautifully illustrated by thirteen monochrome and twenty-one colour images from first and other editions of his books, some not reproduced in colour before

Abstract:
This chapter turns to four contemporaries of Abravanel who also explored the question of dogma in Judaism. Yorn Tov Lippmann Muehlhausen (d. after 1450) is the only medieval Ashkenazi Jew known to have commented on the principles of Judaism. Muehlhausen included two lists of principles in his well-known anti-Christian polemic, Sefer Ha-Niẓẓaḥon. Elijah ben Moses Delmedigo (c.1460–1497) was a philosopher and rabbinic scholar active in Italian renaissance circles. In 1496, he composed his Beḥinat ha-Dat, a work with strongly Averroist overtones dealing with the relationship between religion and philosophy. Delmedigo's countryman, Rabbi David ben Judah Messer Leon (c.1470–1526), is best known as the author of a responsum, Kevod Ḥakhamim. The last figure to deal with the principles of Judaism before the Haskalah was Rabbi Moses ben Joseph Trani (1500–1580), known as the ‘Mabit’), the Safed halakhist. Trani devoted the lion's share of his Bet Elohim to an ethical, homiletical, and philosophical commentary on Maimonides’ thirteen principles.

Abstract:
This introductory chapter discusses the larger theme of the spiritual life of Polish–Lithuanian Jewry and its relation to the wider religious history of the Jews. There are a number of problems in describing that history. It is obvious that Jewish history in the period from the end of Jewish statehood and, in particular, from the end of a significant Jewish presence in Erets Yisrael has a highly significant religious component. Yet there has been a tendency to write this history statically — to see normative Jewish religious practice as unchanging from the period of the Mishnah and Talmud. In addition, historical investigation is complicated by the absence in the Jewish religious tradition of a clearly formulated creed. The attempts to formulate such a credal statement, such as that of Maimonides (1135–1204), who sets out thirteen basic principles of the Jewish faith, or those of the Spanish Jews Hasdai Crescas (d. ?1412) and Joseph Albo (1380–1445), can only be seen as deviations from this norm and are not regarded by normative believers as binding, although much of the religious establishment did accept them as such.

"therefore be on the fourth SCR or on the serine/theonine rich region. By sequencing genomic DNA from Cr(a-) people, Telen and colleagues showed that a mutation in the fourth SCR was responsible for Cr3 [13]. Considering the MAIEA results, the fourth SCR would be a good place to start looking for difference responsible for the WES polymorphism too. Other Cromer system antigens showed some inhibition with one of the BRIC antibodies [12]. MAIEA provided biochemical evidence that Esa is indeed a Cromer system antigen [12]. Esa was thought to be a Cromer related antigen because of the failure of anti-Esa to react with Cromer-null cells and from its behaviour with proteinaese treated cells [14]. These findings were supported by the observation that Esa was carried by a glycosyl phosphatidylinositol linked protein [15]. However, only a small amount of anti-Esa was available and, therefore, immunoblotting experiments could not be done. Strong positive results with BRIC 216 and 110 but a negative result with BRIC 230 suggested that Esa is located on DAF, possibly on the first SCR. Similarly, a negative result with BRIC 230 and Tca suggests that it too is on the first SCR (Table II) [12]. The results of the MAIEA tests for Cromer antigens are summarised in Table II. They agree with those known from DNA studies, Dra on SCR III [15,16,17] and Cr3 on SCR IV [13], and suggest the best places to look for those as yet undetermined. This demonstrates how MAIEA may be used to help narrow the field of study to determine the molecular basis of antigens. VARIATION IN EXPRESSION OF SOME Rh ANTIGENS We had hoped to apply MAIEA to Rh but to date the only antibodies to the D protein are of human origin, so MAIEA cannot yet be used to study the relationship of the D antigen to some of the low incidence antigens which appear to be markers of partial D antigens. The Rh antigen D is, after ABO, the most important antigen clinically because it is highly immunogenic. Until the introduction of Rh immunoprophylaxis, anti-D was the most frequent cause of haemolytic disease of the newborn and neonatal death [1]. Many Rh antigens are good immunogens. Since its initial recognition in the nineteen-forties, the Rh system has become very complex. There are 48 numbered antigens, that is serologically defined determinants, the numbers have reached 50 because two numbers have been declared obsolete [2,3,18,19]. Some antigens are polymorphic and others are of high or low incidence." In Transfusion Immunology and Medicine. CRC Press, 1995. http://dx.doi.org/10.1201/9781482273441-10.

A physical model, built at an undistorted scale of 1:15 tested the original design of the six drum screen and nineteen cooling water pump intake connected to header bay. The capacity of origin water intake including huge pump station and drum screen is 400,000 m3/hr. The study objectives were to evaluate as-designed screen bay and pump bay performance and to propose design modifications to optimize intake flow conditions with respect to head-losses, uniformity of the approach flow, evenness of pump throat velocity distribution, and free and subsurface vortex formation. The model was built and

Since petroleum exploitation began activity in the Gulf of Mexico, geophysical studies have been carried out to detect geological hazards and features, which can affect the design or installation of platforms or pipelines. In some of the studies it was noted that shallow gas accumulations increase their size and number through time. This paper presents a comparison of three geophysical studies which were carried out in 1978 [1], 1997 [2] and 2002 [3]. The comparison is complemented with results obtained from geotechnical studies performed in 2002 [4–7] to evaluate the influence of the gas on t

Abstract Wells plug & abandonment was carried out in a deepwater field (Field C) offshore West Africa. There were 15 deepwater subsea wells, in this field. Thirteen of the wells were completed with Open Water Vertical Xmas Tree (OXT) while remaining two were completed with Enhanced Vertical Xmas Tree (EVXT). All the wells were permanently abandoned with permanent barriers established in accordance to Norsok D-010, rev. 2013. This involved establishing well barriers which would both horizontally and vertically effective. The operator evaluated several methods in establishing well barriers f

Control of agro-associated pathogens is becoming increasingly difficult due to increased resistance and mounting restrictions on chemical pesticides and antibiotics. Likewise, in veterinary and human environments, there is increasing resistance of pathogens to currently available antibiotics requiring discovery of novel antibiotic compounds. These drawbacks necessitate discovery and application of microorganisms that can be used as biocontrol agents (BCAs) and the isolation of novel biologically-active compounds. This highly-synergistic one year project implemented an innovative pipeline aimed
