Abstract:
Sabido es que en la India Antigua, cuestiones originariamente religiosas han dado lugar a desarrollos extraordinarios del pensamiento científico, especialmente en lo que al área del lenguaje se refiere. Background: The Vedas are the earliest texts known to humanity. Given their status as an ancient text, as well as the loss of Vedic knowledge over the centuries, it is unsurprising that understanding them presents a significant challenge to modern readers, particularly in terms of their use of archaic language, symbols, and parables. Meanwhile, in the modern era, Western scholars engage in research and translation of the Vedas without fully grasping their signific

Recorded in Yāska’s Nirukta, this controversy centers on the issue whether all or only certain nouns are ‘born from’ (i.e., derived from) verbs. This paper examines the arguments developed in this controversy and argues that Yāska’s belief that all nouns are der
