A new simple and sensitive detection tube to detect hydrogen cyanide in the air has been developed. The detection tube is based on the reaction of hydrogen cyanide with 4-nitrobenzil to form a violet colored product. The reaction takes place on the carrier made of a composite material which was prepared by pelletization of a mixture of microcrystalline cellulose and MgO. The detection tube can detect hydrogen cyanide in the air in the range of concentrations 0.1-100 mg.m-3 based on visual evaluation (by naked eye) of the change of indication layer coloring and comparison with etalon. An endosomal fraction isolated from rabbit renal cortex by a novel, fast, and simple procedure was enriched in ATP-dependent H+ pumping that was oligomycin insensitive but was inhibited by dicyclohexylcarbodiimide (DCCD), N-ethylmaleimide (NEM), Zn2+, Hg2+, diethylstilbestrol, mersalyl, and 4-chloro-7-nitrobenzo-2-oxa-1,3-diazole. No substantial Na+-H+ exchange was detected. Electrogenicity of the pump was demonstrated using [14C]-SCN-. In addition, these membranes featured ATP-dependent Cl- flux. The ATP-driven H+ pumping had an absolute requirement for Cl-: an inside-negative membrane potent

This manuscript emphasizes how structural assembling can facilitate the generation of solar chemicals and the synthesis of fine chemicals under solar light, which is a challenging task via a photocatalytic pathway. Solar energy utilization for pollution prevention through the reduction of organic chemicals is one of the most challenging tasks. In this field, a metal-based photocatalyst is an optional technique but has some drawbacks, such as low efficiency, a toxic nature, poor yield of photocatalytic products, and it is expensive. The use of digitonin to permeabilize the plasma membrane of Trypanosoma brucei procyclic and bloodstream trypomastigotes allowed the identification of a non-mitochondrial nigericin-sensitive Ca2+ compartment. The proton ionophore carbonyl cyanide p-trifluoromethoxyphenylhydrazone (FCCP) was able to cause Ca2+ release from this compartment, which was also sensitive to sodium orthovanadate. Preincubation of the cells with the vacuolar H(+)-ATPase inhibitor bafilomycin A1 greatly reduced the nigericin-sensitive Ca2+ compartment. Although there have been extensive research and progress on the discovery of anticancer drug over the years, the application of these drugs as stand-alone therapy has been limited by their off-target toxicities, poor pharmacokinetic properties, and low therapeutic index. Targeted drug delivery, especially drug conjugate, has been recognized as a technology that can bring forth a new generation of therapeutics with improved efficacy and reduced side effects for cancer treatment. The linker in a drug conjugate is of essential importance because it impacts the circulation time of the conjugate an

Abstract Fumonisins B1 and B2 are closely related mycotoxins produced by Fusarium moniliforme, F. proliferatum, and related species. Disadvantages of 2 fluorescence derivatizing reagents currently used for liquid chromatography (LC) are instability of the derivatives (with o-phthaldialdehyde-mercaptoethanol) and formation of 2 peaks (with fluorescamine). 4-Fluoro-7-nitrobenzofurazan (4-fluoro-7- nitrobenz-2-oxa-1,3-diazole; NBD-F) was, therefore, investigated. Although a larger molar excess of this reagent is required for fumonisins than for amino acids, the derivatives formed are moderately s

Measurements have been made of the ATP-dependent membrane potential (delta psi) and pH gradient (delta pH) across the membranes of the synaptic vesicles purified from bovine cerebral cortex, using the voltage-sensitive dye bis[3-propyl-5-oxoisoxazol-4-yl]pentamethine oxanol and the delta pH-sensitive fluorescent dye 9-aminoacridine respectively. A pre-existing small delta pH (inside acidic) was detected in the synaptic vesicles, but no additional significant contribution by MgATP to delta pH was observed. In contrast, delta psi (inside positive) increased substantially upon addition of MgATP.
