Le dve leti po monografiji Spoznaj sebe in druge zaslužne profesorice ljubljanske univer­ ze, andragoginje dr. Ane Krajnc smo dobili njeno novo monografijo z naslovom Starejši se učimo. Izobraževanje starejših v teoriji in praksi. Da je lahko tretje življenjsko obdobje ne le dolgo, temveč tudi bogato, plodno, intenzivno in še kako angažirano, nam avtorica ne dokazuje le s svojimi številnimi strokovnimi in znanstvenimi objavami, domačimi in mednarodnimi projekti ter predanim delom v okviru Univerze za tretje življenjsko obdo­ bje (UTŽO), ki dosega neverjetne razsežnosti (33 let delovanja, 52 organizacij UTŽO po Sloveniji, letno okrog 22.000 študentk in študentov), ampak tudi z novimi in relevantnimi premisleki učnih praks, posredovanjem in premišljanjem izkušenj aktivnega udejstvova­ nja in vodenja UTŽO ter s širokimi refleksijami družbenih, psiholoških in učnih procesov, ki prečijo sodobne družbe od prvega pa do zadnjega življenjskega obdobja.

Abstract:
The people who live in the Merapi area have been going on for years. Merapi is the most active volcano in Central Java that can threaten the community, but the community still exists today, of course, having local wisdom in responding to the eruption of Merapi. This study aims to determine the local wisdom of Wonolelo Village before, during, and after the Merapi eruption. In addition, to find out the historical relationship of the Merapi eruption to local wisdom and the challenges faced by Wonolelo Village in maintaining the sustainability of local wisdom. This research was used as a descriptive qualitative method. The method of collecting data is done through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data sources of this study are community leaders, spiritual leaders, and people who are more than 70 years old. Analysis of the data used is sourced triangulation based on the Miles & Huberman model. The results showed that local wisdom in responding to the Merapi eruption in Wonolelo Village still exists today. Local wisdom is divided into three segments, namely before, during, and after the eruption of Merapi. Local wisdom before the Merapi eruption is a notification that Merapi eruption activity will occur. Local wisdom in Wonolelo Village has challenges in the form of modernization and not running the local wisdom relay to young people. Keywords: Disaster, Local wisdom, Merapi volcano. Abstract:
The effects of biochar and biochar combined with N-fertilizer on the content of soil organic matter in water-stable aggregates were investigated. A field experiment was conducted with different biochar application rates: B0 control (0 t ha-1), B10 (10 t ha-1) and B20 (20 t ha-1) and 0 (no N), 1st and 2nd levels of nitrogen fertilization on silt loam Haplic Luvisol (Dolna Malanta, Slovakia), in 2014. The N doses of level 1 were calculated on required average crop production using balance method. Level 2 included additional 100% of N in year 2014 and additional 50% of N in year 2016. The effects were investigated during the growing seasons of spring barley and spring wheat in 2014 and 2016, respectively. Results indicate that the B20N2 treatment significantly increased the proportion of water-stable macro-aggregates (WSAma) and reduced water-stable micro-aggregates (WSAmi). Aggregate stability increased only in the B20N1 treatment. The B20N2 treatment showed a robust decrease by 27% in the WSAma of 0.5-0.25 mm. On the other hand, an increase by 56% was observed in the content of WSAma with fractions 3-2 mm compared to the B0N0 treatment. The effect of N fertilizer on WSAma was confirmed only in the case of the B10N2 treatment. The proportion of WSAma with fractions 3-2 mm decreased by 42%, while the size fraction of 0.5-0.25 mm increased by 30% compared to the B10N0 treatment. The content of WSAma with fractions 1-0.5 mm decreased with time. On the contrary, the content of WSAma with particle sizes above 5 mm increased with time in all treatments except the B10N2 and B20N2 treatments. A statistically significant trend was identified in the proportion of WSA in the B10N2 and B20N2 treatments, which indicates that biochar with higher application levels of N fertilizer stabilizes the proportion of water-stable aggregates. In all treatments, the content of soil organic carbon (SOC) and labile carbon (CL) in WSAmi was lower than those in WSAma. A considerable decrease of SOC in the WSAma >5 mm and an increase of SOC in WSAmi were observed when biochar was applied at the rate of 10 t ha-1. Contents of SOC in WSAmi increased as a result of adding biochar combined with N fertilizer at first level. The aim of the study was to evaluated the effect of giving water hyacinth and fish oil in quail diet on the performance, egg cholesterol and egg fatty acid profile. This study used 200 unsex day old quail divided into 5 treatments and 4 replications that were reared 5 weeks and then selected male or female. The results of sexing quail at week 5 were 95 females and 86 males. Growth period diets (0-5 weeks) contains 24% crude protein and metabolic energy of 2900 kcal kg-1 and production period diets (5-12 weeks) contains 22% crude protein and 2900 kcal kg-1. The experimental design used a completely randomized design with the treatment of using water hyacinth that was 0%,1%, 2%, 3 % and 4% with fish oil which was 0%, 4%, 5%, 6% and 7% in quail diet. The variables measured were quail performance (0-5 week age and 5-12 week age), egg cholesterol, and egg fatty acid profile. The results showed that using of water hyacinth meal 1% -4% and fish oil 4%-5% in the diet of the growth period resulted in higher feed consumption and body weight gain than diet without water hyacinth and fish oil but feed conversion rasio were same. Quail performance of the production period was not affected by all treatments. Unsaturated fatty acids tend to increased in quail eggs. The lowest cholesterol level of quail eggs was by giving 2% of water hyacinth meal and 5% of fish oil in the diet. It was concluded that water hyacinth can be used as local feed ingredients in quail diet until 4%. Abstract:
A preliminary study to determine the group of compound contained in the ethanolic extract of mahagony (Swietenia mahagoni L. Jacq.) seeds and its inhibitory activity to a-glucosidase enzyme has been done. The information from this study will be used in the further investigation about the specific constituents related to the bioactivity. The seed was grounded and then extracted with ethanol by maceration technique. The crude extract was separated with liquid-liquid extraction by using n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and methanol as the solvents. The best eluent for isolation, chloroform:ethanol (1:1), was determined by thin layer chromatography while alumina as stationary phase. The isolation step with column chromatography gave two types of isolates, yellow and colorless isolate. In order to get information about the compound, the crude extract was subjected to phytochemical assignment and the isolate with the better activity was analyzed by infrared spectroscopy. The inhibitory activity for the yellow isolate with IC50 as 19.345 ppm was better than the colorless isolate. Therefore, the IR spectroscopy assay was subjected to the yellow isolate. Based on the comparison IR spectra with literatures, it has suggested that the yellow isolate contains tetranortriterpenoid or limonoid group.Keywords: Swietenia mahagoni L. Purpose.This study aimed to evaluate the characteristics of the HVGGSSV peptide, exploring radiation-guided delivery in a mouse model of nasopharyngeal carcinoma.Methods.Mice with CNE-1 nasopharyngeal carcinoma were assigned to two different groups treated with Cy7-NHS and Cy7-HVGGSSV, respectively. Meanwhile, each mouse received a single dose of 3 Gy radiation. Biological distribution of the recombinant peptide was assessed on anin vivosmall animal imaging system.Results.The experimental group showed maximum fluorescence intensity in irradiated tumors treated with Cy7-labeled HVGGSSV, while untreated (0 Gy) control tumors showed lower intensity levels. Fluorescence intensities of tumors in the right hind limbs of experimental animals were7.84×107±1.13×107,1.35×108±2.66×107,4.05×108±1.75×107,5.57×108±3.47×107, and9.26×107±1.73×107photons/s/cm2higher compared with left hind limb values at 1, 2, 15, 24, and 48 h, respectively. Fluorescence intensities of tumor in the right hind limbs of the experimental group were1.66×108±1.71×107,1.51×108±3.23×107,5.38×108±1.96×107,5.89×108±3.57×107, and1.62×108±1.69×107photons/s/cm2higher compared with control group values at 1, 2, 15, 24, and 48 h, respectively. Fluorescence was not specifically distributed in the control group. Compared with low fluorescence intensity in the heart, lungs, and tumors, high fluorescence distribution was found in the liver and kidney at 48 h.Conclusions.HVGGSSV was selectively bound to irradiated nasopharyngeal carcinoma, acting as a targeting transport carrier for radiation-guided drugs that are mainly metabolized in the kidney and liver.

Abstract:
Can Gio mangrove forest (CGM) is located downstream of Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), situated between an estuarine system of Dong Nai - Sai Gon river and a part of Vam Co river. The CGM is the largest restored mangrove forest in Vietnam and the UNESCO’s Mangrove Biosphere Reserve. The CGM has been gradually facing to numeric challenges of global climate change, environmental degradation and socio-economic development for the last decades. To evaluate sediment quality in the CGM, we collected 13 cores to analyze for sediment grain size, organic matter content, and trace element concentration of Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb, Zn. Results showed that trace element concentrations ranged from uncontaminated (Cd, Cu, and Zn) to very minor contaminated (Cr, Ni, and Pb). Abstract:
Influence ofγ-irradiation on light emission properties of silicon nanocrystals imbedded into SiO2film is investigated. It was shown that small doses ofγ-irradiation (103–105 rad) lead to enhancement of photoluminescence intensity in the nc-Si/SiO2samples. This effect was explained by radiation induced passivation of recombination active centers on the nanocrystals surface. High doses of irradiation (~107 rad) lead to the photoluminescence intensity decrease up to 2 times. Radiation treatment of silicon oxide films with embedded amorphous silicon inclusions resulted only in the decrease of the photoluminescence intensity within the whole range of doses (103–5 × 107 rad). Radiation defects resulting in partial quenching of photoluminescence are characterized with the distributed activation energy of annealing with the peak position at ~0.96 eV and the frequency factor 107 s−1. The nature of such defects and the mechanisms of their creation are discussed.

Context.— With enormous growth in the field of molecular pathology, the reporting of results gleaned from this testing is essential to guide patient care. Objective.— To examine molecular reports from laboratories participating in proficiency testing for required elements to convey molecular laboratory test results to clinicians and patients. Design.— Molecular laboratories participating in the College of American Pathologists (CAP) proficiency testing program for BRAF mutation analysis were solicited to submit examples of final reports from 2 separate proficiency testing reporting cycles. Reports were reviewed for the presence or absence of relevant components. Results.— A total of 107 evaluable reports were received (57 demonstrating a positive result for the BRAF V600E mutation and 50 negative). Methods for BRAF testing varied, with 95% (102 of 107) of reports adequately describing their assay methods and 87% (93 of 107) of reports adequately describing the target(s) of their assays. Information on the analytic sensitivity of the assay was present in 74% (79 of 107) of reports and 83% (89 of 107) reported at least 1 assay limitation, though only 34% (36 of 107) reported on variants not detected by their assays. Analytic and clinical interpretive comments were included in 99% (106 of 107) and 90% (96 of 107) of reports, respectively. Of participants that perform a laboratory-developed test, 88% (88 of 100) included language addressing the development of the assay. Conclusions.— Laboratories participating in BRAF proficiency testing through the CAP are including most of the required reporting elements to unambiguously convey molecular results. Laboratories should continue to strive to report these results in a concise and comprehensive manner.

The goal of this study was to determine an efficient micropropagation system for cranberry (Vaccinium macrocarpon Ait.). Cranberry cultivar Howes was successfully established in vitro using mercuric chloride in a concentration of 0.15% as a sterilization solution. Generally, the highest multiplication rate (2.7) was obtained for cv. Howes on AN medium with the concentration 1 mg/l of zeatin. The effects of indole-3-butyric acid (IBA), indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) and naphtalen acetic acid (NAA) on root induction were tested in WPM medium. The percentage of rooting was 100% for NAA, 86% for IBA and 81% for IAA. From the tested variants, auxin NAA also promoted the highest development of good quality roots (more than 5) per shoot without callus formation.

The leaf ofGardenia jasminoidesEllis was used as explants and was cultured on MS and WPM media supplemented with various concentrations of NAA, IAA, 2,4-D, IBA, TDZ, and Kn (0 to 5 mg L−1with 0.5 increment). After six months, the higher percentage of callus (100%) and the best dry and fresh weight of callus were formed on WPM medium supplemented with 2,4-D and NAA (2.0-3.0 mg L−1) and this amount was decreased from (84%) to (69%) when this media supplemented with Kinetin and TDZ (1 mg L−1) respectively were used. Leaf segments cultured on WPM media added with Kn (1 mg L−1) and TDZ (2 mg L−1) yielded the least amount of callus. It was found that WPM media added with IAA (4.5–5.0 mg L−1) were optimum for root induction fromG.jasminoidesplantlets. Antibacterial screening of leaf extracts (in vivo) showed no inhibitory effect againstE. coli,P. aeruginosa,S. aureus,andB. cereus, in contrast to callus extracts from leaf cultures supplemented with NAA, which showed inhibition activity againstE. coliandB. cereus. The callus extracts from leaf cultures grown on both MS and WPM media showed higher antioxidant and superoxide dismutase activities than leaf extracts.

Abstract Aim: The present study aim to analyze the relationship between GST M/T genotypes of glutathione S-transferases and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia. Materials and Methods: A prospective case-control study has been designed including 69 cases with different degrees of cervical dysplasia and 107 controls. All patients had been examined colposcopically. For every patient both cervical and blood specimen have been obtained. The peripheral blood was used for GST M/T genotyping. The statistical analysis was performed using OR and chi-square at a level of significance inferior to 0.05. Results: No statistically significant differences had been found between cases and controls for GST T-/M- geno-type (T-/M-, χ2=0.03, p= 0.8610) and T+/M+ χ2=0.65, p = 0.4197. Patients with in situ carcinoma had significant GST genotype association for T-/M+ genotype (OR=4.66, CI 95% [0.6528,24.9725], χ2=4.6, p=0.0314) and for T+/M- genotype (OR=0.12, CI 95% [0.0027,0.9465], χ2=0.05, p=0.0219). Conclusion: The combination of GST genotypes can be included in a predictive score for patients with cervical carcinoma.

Abstract An efficient and reproducible micropropagation protocol of Solanecio biafrae (Oliv. & Hiern) C. Jeffrey has been developed from nodal stem segments. Shoot development was obtained on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with benzylaminopurine (BAP) alone and in combination with zeatin and 1-naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA). Elongated shoots were rooted in the presence of zeatin or 3-indole-butyric acid (IBA) alone or in combinations. The highest number of explants forming shoots (100%) as well as the highest number of shoots per explant (3.4) and the longest shoots (22 mm) were recorded on medium containing 4.0 mg·dm−3 BAP, 2.0 mg·dm−3 NAA, and 1.0 mg·dm−3 zeatin. About 76% of shoots formed roots on half-strength MS medium free of plant growth regulators. The best root formation (approximately 88%) was recorded on the medium containing 1.0-1.5 mg·dm−3 IBA. The micropropagated shoots with well-developed roots were efficiently acclimatized under greenhouse conditions. The random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) and intersimple sequence repeat (ISSR) amplification products were monomorphic in micropropagated plants and similar to those of mother plant showing their genetic uniformity. This is the first report of micropropagation of S. biafrae, which will facilitate in vitro mass propagation, conservation, and germplasm exchange of this endangered African vegetable.

Greenhouse studies were conducted in 2018 in Greensboro, NC, and in the field from 2016 to 2018 in Clinton, NC, to evaluate the effect of bicyclopyrone on sweetpotato and Palmer amaranth (field only). In greenhouse studies, Covington and NC04-531 clones were treated with bicyclopyrone (0, 25, 50, 100, or 150 g ai ha−1) either preplant (PP; i.e., immediately before transplanting) or post-transplant (PT; i.e., on the same day after transplanting). Sweetpotato plant injury and stunting increased, and vine length and shoot dry weight decreased with increasing rate of bicyclopyrone regardless of clone or application timing. In field studies, Beauregard (2016) or Covington (2017 and 2018) sweetpotato clones were treated with bicyclopyrone at 50 g ha−1 PP, flumioxazin at 107 g ai ha−1 PP, bicyclopyrone at 50 or 100 g ha−1 PP followed by (fb) S-metolachlor at 800 g ai ha−1 PT, flumioxazin at 107 g ha−1 PP fb S-metolachlor at 800 g ha−1 PT, flumioxazin at 107 g ha−1 PP fb S-metolachlor at 800 g ha−1 PT fb bicyclopyrone at 50 g ha−1 PT-directed, and clomazone at 420 g ai ha−1 PP fb S-metolachlor at 800 g ha−1 PT. Bicyclopyrone PP at 100 g ha−1 fb S-metolachlor PT caused 33% or greater crop stunting and 44% or greater marketable yield reduction compared with the weed-free check in 2016 (Beauregard) and 2017 (Covington). Bicyclopyrone PP at 50 g ha−1 alone or fb S-metolachlor PT resulted in 12% or less injury and similar no. 1 and jumbo yields as the weed-free check in 2 of 3 yr. Injury to Covington from bicyclopyrone PT-directed was 4% or less at 4 or 5 wk after transplanting and marketable yield was similar to that of the weed-free check in 2017 and 2018.

Five sternaspid species were found near Vietnam shores: Sternaspis britayevi sp. nov., S. costata von Marenzeller, 1879, S. nana sp. nov., S. papillosa sp. nov., and S. spinosa Sluiter 1882. Sternaspis britayevi is described from the shallow water in Vietnam inhabiting soft bottoms; it resembles S. spinosa described from Java and S. thorsoni Sendall & Salazar-Vallejo, 2013 described from the Persian Gulf, but differs in having a medially projected and markedly ribbed fan of the ventro-caudal shield and nearly parallel, distally widened and rounded branchial plates. Sternaspis nana sp. nov. is described from Nha Trang Bay; it differs from the other known species by the combination of the following characters: small size, evenly distributed micropapillae and regular rows of long cirriform papillae; posterior chaetal fascicles consisting of single thick chaeta; a ventral shield with smooth integument, without ribs and usually without concentric lines. Sternaspis papillosa sp. nov. is also described from Nha Trang Bay; it resembles S. africana Augener, 1918 and S. andamanensis Sendall & Salazar-Vallejo, 2013 by having similar ventro-caudal shields but differs by body papillation and details of the ventro-caudal shield. Based upon observations of different species some morphological features are clarified: 1) notochaetae are present in introvert chaetigers as delicate capillaries; 2) peg-chaetae are really a dense group of more than 100 thin individual chaetae, embedded in a fibrous matrix, and covered by a common sheath; 3) the pharynx is an eversible, lobed, axial non-muscular proboscis with a ciliated surface; 4) the body cavity is divided by three septa in the anterior body region, and there are no other septa; and 5) an eversible anal peduncle is confirmed, as has been shown by early taxonomists.

An empirical model for estimating the horizontal pseudo-absolute spectral accelerations (PSA) generated by shallow crustal earthquakes was published in 2008 using the recorded earthquake ground motion data collected and documented as part of the original Next Generation Attenuation (NGA) project. A significant number of additional recordings were collected over the past three years, and the 2008 model has been revised using the new data and is presented in this paper. The model was again selected to be simple, and the model parameters were estimated using the expanded database. The revised model incorporates V S30 as an independent variable because, with the expanded database, it was found that V S30 was required to be included as an independent parameter to allow for a reasonably unbiased fit to the recorded data. It is noted that V S30 is not being used to account for nonlinear site response, but strictly to allow for a better fit to the data. These parameters are presented for sites with an average shear wave velocity in the upper 30 m, V S30, for sites with V S30 ≥ 450 m/s. Parameters for sites with V S30 < 450 m/s are not included in this paper. For a site with V S30 = 450 m/s, there is an overall increase in PGA averaging about 50% over a distance of about 100 km using the 2013 model in comparison to the 2008 model. On the other hand, for a site with V S30 = 900 m/s, there is an overall decrease of about 10% using the 2013 model in comparison to the 2008 model.

An efficient protocol for in vitro regeneration is essential for genetic manipulation and micro-propagation of important plant species. A direct shoot regeneration system has been optimized for Desi chickpeas, but an effective regeneration protocol is still needed for Kabuli chickpeas. An efficient regeneration protocol for Kabuli chickpeas was developed, using whole embryonic axes, an embryonic axes slice and cotyledonary node explants from two genotypes L550 and JGK-1. Depending upon chickpea genotype, type of explant and culture medium, percentage of shoot producing explants (frequency) and the number of shoots per explant (efficiency) varied from 10 to 83% and from 1 to 58, respectively. The shoot regeneration capacity (SRC=frequency×efficiency), which is an indicator of the effectiveness of the protocol, varied from 47 to 2508 shoots per 100 explants cultured. On average, SRC of L550 was 1.8 times higher than JGK-1. Murashige and Skoog's (MS) medium+B5 vitamins supplemented with 8.0 µM benzyl amino purine (BAP)+0.5 µM α- naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) and 0.1 M sucrose plus embryonic axes was found to be the most effective culture medium and type of explants, respectively. Half strength MS medium+2% sucrose supplemented with 4 µM NAA, 3µ M IAA or 4µM IAA produced a high rooting percentage in both chickpea genotypes. The regeneration process starting from explant preparation to establishment of a complete plant in soil took 105–110 d. This optimized regeneration method holds promise for facilitating the insertion of interested genes through genetic transformation for improvement of Kabuli chickpeas.

Исследованы структурные особенности нанокомпозитов, полученных при лазерном облучении водно-белковых сред с одностенными углеродными нанотрубками (ОУНТ), электродуговым (ОУНТI) и газофазным методами (ОУНТII). С помощью спектроскопии комбинационного рассеяния нанокомпозитов определен нековалентный характер взаимодействия нанотрубок с молекулами белков. Белковая составляющая в нанокомпозитах подверглась необратимой денатурации и может выступать в качестве связующего биосовместимого материала, который является источником аминокислот для биологических тканей при имплантации нанокомпозитов в организм. Образцы, изготовленные из ОУНТI, с меньшим диаметром и длиной имели наиболее однородную структуру. При увеличении концентрации от 0.01 до 0.1 % происходило увеличение среднего размерамикропор от 45 до 85 мкм и пористости образца в общем с 46 до 58 %. При этом доля открытых пор для двух типов концентраций ОУНТI составила 2 % от общего объема композита. В нанокомпозитах на основе ОУНТI показано наличие мезопор. Увеличение концентрации нанотрубок привело к уменьшению удельных значений поверхности и объема пор образца. Automation of cell culture would facilitate stable cell expansion with consistent quality. In the present study, feasibility of an automated closed-cell culture system “P 4C S” for an embryoid body- (EB-) explant outgrowth culture was investigated as a model case for explant culture. After placing the induced pluripotent stem cell- (iPSC-) derived EBs into the system, the EBs successfully adhered to the culture surface and the cell outgrowth was clearly observed surrounding the adherent EBs. After confirming the outgrowth, we carried out subculture manipulation, in which the detached cells were simply dispersed by shaking the culture flask, leading to uniform cell distribution. This enabled continuous stable cell expansion, resulting in a cell yield of 3.1 × 107. There was no evidence of bacterial contamination throughout the cell culture experiments. We herewith developed the automated cultivation platform for EB-explant outgrowth cells.

Abstract. Knowledge of the viscosity of particles containing secondary organic material (SOM) is useful for predicting reaction rates and diffusion in SOM particles. In this study we investigate the viscosity of SOM particles as a function of relative humidity and SOM particle mass concentration, during SOM synthesis. The SOM was generated via the ozonolysis of α-pinene at < 5 % relative humidity (RH). Experiments were carried out using the poke-and-flow technique, which measures the experimental flow time (τexp, flow) of SOM after poking the material with a needle. In the first set of experiments, we show that τexp, flow increased by a factor of 3600 as the RH increased from < 0.5 RH to 50 % RH, for SOM with a production mass concentration of 121 µg m−3. Based on simulations, the viscosities of the particles were between 6 × 105 and 5 × 107 Pa s at < 0.5 % RH and between 3 × 102 and 9 × 103 Pa s at 50 % RH. In the second set of experiments we show that under dry conditions τexp, flow decreased by a factor of 45 as the production mass concentration increased from 121 to 14 000 µg m−3. From simulations of the poke-and-flow experiments, the viscosity of SOM with a production mass concentration of 14 000 µg m−3 was determined to be between 4 × 104 and 1.5 × 106 Pa s compared to between 6 × 105 and 5 × 107 Pa s for SOM with a production mass concentration of 121 µg m−3. The results can be rationalized by a dependence of the chemical composition of SOM on production conditions. These results emphasize the shifting characteristics of SOM, not just with RH and precursor type, but also with the production conditions, and suggest that production mass concentration and the RH at which the viscosity was determined should be considered both when comparing laboratory results and when extrapolating these results to the atmosphere.

ABSTRACT We propose a ground-motion prediction equation (GMPE) for probabilistic seismic hazard analysis of nuclear installations in Finland. We collected and archived the acceleration recordings of 77 earthquakes from seismic stations on very hard rock (VHR, i.e., the shear-wave velocity in the upper 30 m of the geological profile=2800 m/s according to the definition used in the nuclear industry) in Finland and Sweden since 2006 and computed the corresponding response spectra important for engineering evaluation. We augmented the narrow magnitude range of the local data by a subset of VHR recordings of 33 earthquakes from the Next Generation Attenuation for Central and Eastern North America (CENA) (NGA-East) database, mainly from eastern Canada. We adapted the backbone curves of the G16 equation proposed by Graizer (2016) for CENA. After the calibration, we evaluated the accuracy of the median prediction and the random error. We conclude that the GMPE developed can be used for predicting ground motions in Fennoscandia. Because of compatibility with the original G16 backbone curve and comparisons with the NGA-East GMPEs, we estimate that the formulation proposed is valid on VHR over the range of 2≤moment magnitude≤7.0 and 0≤ rupture distance ≤300 km, the depth range over 1.5–37 km, and frequencies between 1 and 100 Hz. The median of the composite prediction of the GMPE proposed was reasonable. The standard deviation of the prediction error (σ) was over the range of 0.73–0.86, in ln spectral acceleration units, for the relevant spectral frequencies. This is somewhat lower than the G16 σ, indicating lower aleatory variability. The new Fenno-G16 GMPE is applicable over a wider range of magnitudes than the two older GMPEs available in Finland and fits the data better, especially for peak ground acceleration and 25 Hz.

The article is devoted to the problem of obtaining regenerative plant varieties of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) Bouquet, Emerald, Chameleon (FSBSI Federal Scientific Vegetable Center). Salad culture is insensitive to in vitro conditions and requires the development of alternative regeneration conditions. Seeds were surface sterilized in 96% ethanol (30 s), then 15 minutes in 50% aqueous solution of "Whiteness" with the addition of Twin-20 (1 drop per 100 ml), washed three times in sterile distilled water. Then lettuce seeds were placed in Petri dishes on Gamborg B5 medium (2% sucrose, 3,0 g/l fitogeli). After 10 days, the obtained seedlings were cut, the leaf blades were cut into squares 1 cm in size and transferred to medium MS B5 (2% sucrose) with three variants of hormone concentrations: 0.1 mg/l NAA and 1 mg/l BAP, 1 mg/l NAA and 1 mg/l BAP, 1 mg/l NAA and 0.1 mg/l BAP. The formed shoots were rooted on MS medium (2% sucrose, 7,0 g/l agar). Cultivation was carried out on racks with fluorescent lamps at 25°C and a photoperiod of 14 hours, illumination of 2,5 thousand Lux. According to the results of studies, the concentration of hormones (0,1 mg/l NAA, 1 mg/l BAP) was selected, which allowed to obtain up to 10 shoots from one leaf explant. Moreover, the largest number of shoots was noted on leaf explants located closer to the veins of the sheet. The obtained data allowed to improve the system of regeneration of varieties of emerald lettuce, Bouquet and Chameleon.

Fish play a crucial role in the Bangladeshi diet, providing more than 60% of animal source food, representing a crucial source of micro-nutrients and possessing an extremely strong cultural attachment. In this study isolation and identification of Aeromionas hydrophila was done by studying cultural properties, Gram’s staining and biochemical properties of isolates of diseased indigenous Koi fish (Anabas testudineus) of different upazillas of Mymensingh district. Antibiogram profile of the isolated bacteria was studied by using wide range of commercially available antibiotics. Quantitative study of bacteria isolated from diseased indigenous Koi fish showed variation of number in different organ. Total bacterial load was found to be 1.90 × 105, 1.19 × 105, 3.21 × 105, 2.18 × 106 and 3.14 × 105 cfu/g in lesions; 2.52 × 107, 2.34 × 108, 5.41 × 108, 2.54 × 109 and 5.21 × 109 cfu/g in liver; 2.54 × 108, 2.41 × 108, 1.90 × 107, 3.65 × 107 and 3.45 × 108 cfu/g in spleen; 3.51 × 107, 5.28 × 107, 3.14 × 106, 1.85 × 107 and 4.52× 107 cfu/g in kidney in diseased Koi of Mymensingh sadar, Muktagacha, Tarakanda, Gouripur and Fulpur upazillas, respectively under Mymensingh districts. Aeromonas hydrophila was initially identified by their specific morphological, physiological and biochemical characteristics. Then molecular detection of A. hydrophila was done by PCR. PCR products of desired 760 bp were obtained for A. hydrophila. The results of the antibiotic sensitivity test is exhibited that most of the bacterial samples were sensitive against ciprofloxacin (92%) and levofloxacin (84%), intermediate resistant against gentamicin (40%) and resistant against novobiocin (84%), ampicillin (100%) and penicillin (92%).Asian J. Jenis penelitian ini adalah analitik dengan desain penelitian cross sectional. Populasi adalah seluruh KK yang ada di Desa Muaro Putuih Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Tiku Kabupaten Agam yang berjumlah 100 KK dengan sampel 50 KK. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan simple random sampling. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada tanggal 10 Februari s/d 2 Maret 2016. Pengumpulan data dengan kuesioner. Teknik pengolahan data yaitu editing, coding, entry, dan cleaning. Analisa univariat dan bivariat dianalisis menggunakan uji chi-square. Hasil penelitian bahwa lebih dari separuh responden (54%) kondisi lingkungan beresiko, lebih dari separuh responden (54%) perilaku tidak baik, lebih dari separuh responden (58%) tidak menderita filariasis. Terdapat hubungan antara kondisi lingkungan dan kejadian filariasis (p=0,000), terdapat hubungan antara perilaku dan kejadian filariasis (p=0,017). Diharapkan dapat memberikan pendidikan kesehatan tentang penyakit filariasis.

Parental Involvement in their children's schooling has long been recognized as a critical component of good education. This study aims to find out the relationship between socioeconomic status, interpersonal communication, and school climate with parental involvement in early childhood education. Using survey and correlational research design, data collection was carried out through accumulation techniques with tests and questionnaires. The data analysis technique used statistical analysis and multiple regressions. The findings in the socio-economic context of parents show that the measure of power is an indicator in the very high category with a total score of 5, while the measures of wealth, honour and knowledge are included in the high category with a total score of 4 in relation to parental involvement. The form of interpersonal communication, the openness of parents in responding happily to information / news received from schools about children is a finding of a significant relationship with parental involvement in early childhood education. The school climate describes the responsibility for their respective duties and roles, work support provided, and interpersonal communication relationships, parents at home and teachers at school. AbstractThe aim of this study was to develop methods for thein vitropropagation ofZantedeschia rehmannii.Zantedeschia rehmanniituber fragments (1 cm2) containing eyes were soaked for 30 s in a solution containing 100 mg dm−3L-ascorbic acid (AA) before transfer to culture vessels containing an MS medium supplemented with BAP (0 to 3 mg dm−3). Cultures were maintained in darkness. Soaking explants in an L-ascorbic acid solution improved the establishment of explants. Culture initiation should be conducted on media supplemented with 3 mg dm−3BAP. On a multiplication stage, adventitious shoots were placed on MS media supplemented with cytokinin: BAP (0.5 to 5 mg dm−3), KIN (0.5 to 5 mg dm−3), TDZ (0.1 to 1 mg dm−3) and 2iP (2.5 to 15 mg dm−3) or BAP (0.5 to 7.5 mg dm−3) with IAA (0.5 to 2 mg dm−3). The highest coefficient of multiplication forZantedeschiawas obtained on the medium with the addition of 2.5 mg dm−3BAP, which positively affected the shoot length (3.41 cm) and the number of adventitious shoots (4.13). Rooting took place on media supplemented with IBA, IAA and NAA at a concentration of 0.1 to 2 mg dm−3. The most numerous and the longest roots were found in plants placed on a medium with the addition of 0.1 mg dm−3IBA.

Experiment byl zaměřen na stanovení pevností v tlaku a součinitele tepelné vodivosti připravených kompozitů. Cílem je příprava izolačních materiálů na bázi alkalicky aktivované vysokopecní strusky. Stanovené pevností v tlaku a součinitelé tepelné vodivostí testovaných kompozitů kvalitativně odpovídají komerčně dostupným stavebninám.

Abstract:
An efficient high frequency plant regeneration protocol through direct organogenesis was developed for Sevia rebaudiana. Shoot tips containing axillary buds were used as an explant and inoculated on Murashige and Skoog’s (MS) medium containing 3% (w/v) sucrose, 0.6% (w/v) agar supplemented with various concentrations of benzy-ladenine (BA), kinetin (Kn) and thidiazuron (TDZ).. BAP proved to be a better choice than Kn and the maximum number of shoots (3.75) was obtained on 2.0 mgL-1 BAP concentration. Considering all parameters, combination of BAP and Kn gave comparatively better performance than single BAP or Kn. TDZ was effective for multiple shooting. Though, 1.5 mgL-1 TDZ gave the best number of shoots (14.5), but 1.0 mgL-1 TDZ gave best performance in response to all parameters under study. The highest number of shoots was obtained in 60 mlL-1 coconut water, but 40 mlL-1 coconut water gave the best result to all parameters. Root induction was tested by using two auxins namely NAA and IBA at different concentrations (1.0, 1.5, 2.0 mgL-1) on the MS medium. IBA at 1.0 mgL-1 increased the rooting response (66.67%), number of roots (7.0) and root length (2.9 cm). AbstractThe present study describes a protocol for micro-propagation, callus induction, and shoot regeneration of ginger (Zingiber officinale). The rhizomes were surface-sterilized with ethanol (70%) for 45 s, sodium hypochlorite (2.5%) for 10 min, and mercuric chloride (0.1%) for 10 min. Multiple shoots were induced from sprouting bud explants cultured on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with 6-benzyladenine (BA) combined with kinetin (Kin). The maximum shoot number was obtained from MS medium containing 10 mg/l BA with a mean of 20.6 shoots per explant. The leaf explants were cultured on MS medium supplemented with indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA), 2,4-dichlorophenoxy acetic acid (2,4-D), Dicamba, or BA for callus culture. Green-red compact calli were induced using 2,4-D, Dicamba or BA. Also, BA successfully induced plant regeneration. The multiplied shoots that were transferred to the rooting medium (½MS supplemented with 0, 1 and 2 mg/l IAA, indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) or NAA) showed development of roots (100%). The rooted plantlets were transferred to pots containing a 1:1 mixture of cocopeat and perlite, and acclimatization was successful, resulting in 85% survival of the plantlets in the greenhouse.

Due to the narrow range of available herbicides, weeds are one of the limiting factors for intercropping of dry bean and maize. Various benefits of this production method have been confirmed by the results of many authors. The aim of this study was to investigate the possibility of using a cycloxydim-tolerant maize hybrid to expand the ability of weed control in intercroping systems with bean. Three-year field trials were conducted from 2015 to 2017, at the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops in the vicinity of Novi Sad. Cycloxydim-tolerant maize and dry bean were sown mechanically in alternating strips, with one strip consisting of 4 rows of maize and the other strip containing 6 rows of bean. Combinations of herbicides based on dimethenamid-P, linuron, bentazone and cycloxydim were studied. The effect of herbicides on the number of weeds, fresh weed mass and grain yield of bean and maize was evaluated. No phytotoxicity of the herbicides was observed on the crops, indicating the safety of their use in this production system. The most common weeds were Chenopodium album, Datura stramonium and Sorghum halepense developed from rhizomes. Herbicides had a significant effect in reducing the abundance and fresh mass of the above-ground weed parts. A special contribution of the results obtained is the unique ability to control S. halepense using the cycloxydim-based product. Owing to the above-mentioned possibility, a significant reduction in the number and mass of S. halepense shoots developed from rhizomes was achieved (100% in 2015 and 2016, and >90% in 2017). The results of our trials confirm the contribution of the extension of the choice of herbicides with cycloxydim in this system of intercropping with dry bean and cycloxydim-tolerant maize.

Abstract Background and study aims Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is useful for en bloc resection of superficial colorectal neoplasms to ensure accurate histologic diagnoses. However, colorectal ESD is associated with a high frequency of adverse events (AEs). We aimed to investigate the effectiveness of prophylactic clip closure (PCC) of mucosal defects for AEs after colorectal ESD. Patients and methods This study included 197 patients with 211 lesions who underwent colorectal ESD between June 2010 and August 2016. Patients who had delayed perforation, delayed bleeding, abdominal pain, or fever were defined as AEs after colorectal ESD. Complete PCC was defined as completely sutured mucosal defect using endoclips following colorectal ESD, whereas incomplete PCC was defined as the mucosal defects that did not enable PCC or were partially sutured. Clinical records were retrospectively reviewed and clinical outcomes evaluated. Results AEs occurred in 29 lesions (13.7 %), including 12 with delayed bleeding, 12 with fever, 2 with abdominal pain, 2 with fever and abdominal pain, and 1 with delayed bleeding and fever. Delayed perforation was not observed in any patient. The frequency of AEs was significantly lower in the group with complete PCC than in the group with incomplete PCC (7.3 % [9/123] vs. 22.7 % [20/88]; P < 0.001). Multivariate analysis revealed that AEs after colorectal ESD were significantly associated with tumor size and submucosal fibrosis. Subgroup analysis among the resected specimen size of < 40 mm revealed that there was no significant difference in AEs between the 2 groups (5.6 % [6/107] vs. 17.8 % [8/45]; P = 0.069). However, the frequency of fever with complete PCC was significantly lower than that with incomplete PCC (2.8 % [3/107] vs. 13.3 % [6/45]; P = 0.020). Conclusions Tumor size and submucosal fibrosis were independent risk factors for AEs after colorectal ESD. PCC may be effective in minimizing AEs after colorectal ESD, especially the frequency of fever.

Abstract. Characterization of daytime sources of nitrous acid (HONO) is crucial to understand atmospheric oxidation and radical cycling in the planetary boundary layer. HONO and numerous other atmospheric trace constituents were measured on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus during the CYPHEX (CYprus PHotochemical EXperiment) campaign in summer 2014. Average volume mixing ratios of HONO were 35 pptv (±25 pptv) with a HONO ∕ NOx ratio of 0.33, which was considerably higher than reported for most other rural and urban regions. Diel profiles of HONO showed peak values in the late morning (60 ± 28 pptv around 09:00 local time) and persistently high mixing ratios during daytime (45 ± 18 pptv), indicating that the photolytic loss of HONO is compensated by a strong daytime source. Budget analyses revealed unidentified sources producing up to 3.4 × 106 molecules cm−3 s−1 of HONO and up to 2.0 × 107 molecules cm−3 s−1 NO. Under humid conditions (relative humidity > 70 %), the source strengths of HONO and NO exhibited a close linear correlation (R2 = 0.72), suggesting a common source that may be attributable to emissions from microbial communities on soil surfaces.

Abstract:
This paper presents some results of rainfall forecast in the monsoon onset period in South Vietnam, with the use of ensemble Kalman filter to assimilate observation data into the initial field of the model. The study of rainfall forecasts are experimented at the time of Southern monsoon outbreaks for 3 years (2005, 2008 and 2009), corresponding to 18 cases. In each case, there are five trials, including satellite wind data assimilation, upper-air sounding data assimilation, mixed data (satellite wind+upper-air sounding data) assimilation and two controlled trials (one single predictive test and one multi-physical ensemble prediction), which is equivalent to 85 forecasts for one trial. Based on the statistical evaluation of 36 samples (18 meteorological stations and 18 trials), the results show that Kalman filter assimilates satellite wind data to forecast well rainfall at 48 hours and 72 hours ranges. With 24 hour forecasting period, upper-air sounding data assimilation and mixed data assimilation experiments predicted better rainfall than non-assimilation tests. The results of the assessment based on the phase prediction indicators also show that the ensemble Kalman filter assimilating satellite wind data and mixed data sets improve the rain forecasting capability of the model at 48 hours and 72 hour ranges, while the upper-air sounding data assimilation test produces satisfactory results at the 72 hour forecast range, and the multi-physical ensemble test predicted good rainfall at 24 hour and 48 hour forecasts. Introdu��o: Com a inicia��o precoce do leite de vaca na alimenta��o das crian�as, houve um aumento no �ndice de determinadas patologias. Objetivo: Avaliar a preval�ncia crian�as al�rgicas e intolerantes � lactose em um laborat�rio privado de Fortaleza (CE). M�todos: Analisar os resultados dos exames de IgE�s espec�ficas para leite e teste oral de toler�ncia � lactose realizada no ano de 2016 em um laborat�rio privado. Resultados: Dos 107 exames, 51,4% das crian�as s�o intolerantes sendo 56,3% do sexo masculino e 43,7% do sexo feminino. J� 10,2% s�o al�rgicas, variando de moderado a grave. A ocorr�ncia de intoler�ncia a lactose e alergia a prote�na do leite mostrou-se crescente na faixa et�ria de 0 a 3 anos (38,3%). Conclus�o: Apesar do �ndice de doen�as al�rgicas est� aumentando na popula��o, ainda sim, o problema mais comum � a intoler�ncia a lactose.

Abstract The redox behaviour of Tc(VII)/Tc(IV) was investigated within the pHc range 2–14.6 in (0.5 M and 5.0 M) NaCl and (0.25 M, 2.0 M and 4.5 M) MgCl2 solutions in the presence of different reducing agents (Na2S2O4, Sn(II), Fe(II)/Fe(III), Fe powder) and macroscopic amounts of Fe minerals (magnetite, mackinawite, siderite: S/L = 20–30 g L–1). In the first group of samples, the decrease of the initial Tc concentration (1 · 10–5 M, as Tc(VII)) indicated the reduction to Tc(IV) according to the chemical reaction TcO4– + 4H++ 3e– ↔ TcO2 · 1.6H2O(s) + 0.4H2O. Redox speciation of Tc in the aqueous phase was further confirmed by solvent extraction. A good agreement is obtained between the experimentally determined Tc redox distribution and thermodynamic calculations based on NEA–TDB (Nuclear Energy Agency, Thermochemical Database) and ionic strength corrections by SIT or Pitzer approaches. These observations indicate that experimental pHc and Eh values in buffered systems can be considered as reliable parameters to predict the redox behaviour of Tc in dilute to highly concentrated NaCl and MgCl2 solutions. Eh of the system and aqueous concentration of Tc(IV) in equilibrium with TcO2 · 1.6H2O(s) are strongly affected by elevated ionic strength, especially in the case of 4.5 M MgCl2 solutions. In such concentrated brines and under alkaline conditions (pHc = pHmax ∼ 9), kinetics play a relevant role and thermodynamic equilibrium for the system Tc(IV)(aq) ↔ Tc(IV)(s) was not attained from oversaturation conditions within the timeframe of this study (395 days). Tc(VII) is reduced to Tc(IV) by magnetite, mackinawite and siderite suspensions at pHc = 8 – 9 in concentrated NaCl and MgCl2 solutions. Sorption is very high in all cases (Rd ≥ 103 L kg–1), although Rd values are significantly lower in 4.5 M MgCl2 solutions. XANES (X-ray absorption near edge spectroscopy) evaluation of these samples confirms that Tc(VII) is reduced to Tc(IV) by Fe(II) minerals also in concentrated NaCl and MgCl2 brines.

In view of their common chronic inflammatory process, we sought to determine the linkage between peripheral artery disease and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).107 COPD patients (mean±sdage 64.6±10.4 years, 52.2% male) and 22 control smokers without previously diagnosed peripheral artery disease underwent standardised angiological examination for lower extremity artery disease (LEAD) and carotid artery disease.LEAD was significantly more prevalent in COPD patients than in controls (80.4%versus54.5%, p=0.002). Among COPD patients, 57.0%, 12.2%, 10.3% and 0.9% were found to be in Fontaine stages I, IIA, IIB and III, respectively. As with carotid artery disease, its frequency increased from 36.4% in controls to 58.9% in COPD patients (p=0.003). Carotid plaque burden, LEAD Fontaine degrees as well as pulse wave index and ankle–brachial index manifested significant impairment over percentage predicted forced expiratory volume in 1 s (FEV1% pred) (p=0.02, p<0.001, p=0.01 and p<0.001, respectively). Multivariate analysis revealed that COPD Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease status was the strongest independent predictor for the presence of plaque in lower extremity arteries (odds ratio 1.63, 95% CI 1.19–2.25, p=0.003) and carotids (odds ratio 1.66, 95% CI 1.14–2.44, p=0.009).As compared with control smokers, peripheral artery disease is diagnosed in a sizeable proportion of COPD patients and exhibits significant distributive differences over FEV1% pred that exceed the susceptibility conferred by common cardiovascular stressors.

The aim of the current study was to investigate the influence of mouth rinsing carbohydrate at increasing concentrations on ~1 hr cycle time trial performance. Eleven male cyclists completed three experimental trials, following an overnight fast. Cyclists performed a ~1 hr time trial on a cycle ergometer, while rinsing their mouth for 5 s with either a 7% maltodextrin solution (CHO), 14% CHO or a taste-matched placebo (PLA) after every 12.5% of the set amount of work. Heart rate was recorded every 12.5% of the time trial, while RPE and GI comfort were determined every 25% of the time trial. The mouth rinse protocol influenced the time to complete the time trial (p < .001), with cyclists completing the time trial faster during 7% CHO (57.3 ± 4.5 min; p = .004) and 14% CHO (57.4 ± 4.1 min; p = .007), compared with PLA (59.5 ± 4.9 min). There was no difference between the two carbohydrate trials (p = .737). There was a main effect of time (P<0.001) for both heart rate and RPE, but no main effect of trial (p = .107 and p = .849, respectively). Scores for GI comfort ranged from 0–2 during trials, indicating very little GI discomfort during exercise. In conclusion, mouth rinsing and expectorating a 7% maltodextrin solution, for 5 s routinely during exercise was associated with improved cycle time trial performance approximately 1 h in duration. Increasing the carbohydrate concentration of the rinsed solution from 7% to 14% resulted in no further performance improvement.

Sweetpotato slip number, length, and/or weight were affected by flumioxazin with or without S-metolachlor, S-metolachlor with or without fomesafen, clomazone, and all fluridone treatments. In the greenhouse studies, initial root growth of plants after transplanting was inhibited by fluridone (1,120 g ai ha−1) and fluridone plus S-metolachlor. However, by 5 wk after transplanting few differences were observed between treatments. Fomesafen, linuron with or without S-metolachlor, bicyclopyrone (38 or 49.7 g ai ha−1), pyroxasulfone with or without flumioxazin, metribuzin, and paraquat did not cause injury to sweetpotato slips in any of the studies conducted.

Izhodišče: Ocena razširjenosti raka endometrija pred operaciji s slikovnimi metodami ni zanesljiva. Od ocene je odvisno, ali naj kirurško zdravljenje vključuje pelvično limfadenektomijo ali ne. Biopsija varovalne bezgavke lahko varno nadomesti radikalno pelvično limfadenektomijo pri bolnicah z nizkim in zmernim tveganjem za ponovitev bolezni.Metode: Od januarja 2016 do junija 2017 je bilo na Ginekološki kliniki v Ljubljani v pregled začetnih kliničnih rezultatov ob uvedbi biopsije v varovalni bezgavki v rutinsko klinično prakso vključenih 35 bolnic. Beležili smo zanesljivost histološke in ultrazvočne ocene pred operacijo ter stopnjo uspešne kirurške detekcije v varovalni bezgavki s cervikalno aplikacijo zelenila indocianin. Vsa odstranjena tkiva so bila poslana na histološko preiskavo z barvanjem po metodi hematoksilin in eozin (H&E).Rezultati: Enostranska uspešnost kirurške detekcije varovalne bezgavke je bila 85,7 % (75–93 %), obojestranska pa 80,0 % (63–92 %). Varovalna bezgavka je bila histološko pozitivna v dveh primerih. Ultrazvočna ocena invazije v miometrij je imela občutljivost 100 % (15,8–100 %) in specifičnost 78,9 % (54,4–93,9 %), ultrazvočna ocena invazije v stromo materničnega vratu pa le 33 % (0,8–90,6 %) občutljivosti in 94,4 % (72,7–99,8 %) specifičnosti. Ocena histološke stopnje diferenciacije je bila po operaciji višja (angl. upgrading) v 5,7 %, nižja (angl. downgrading) pa v 8,6 %.Zaključek: Odstranjevanje varovalne bezgavke omogoča individualnejši pristop k zdravljenju bolnic z rakom endometrija in varnejšo opustitev pelvične limfadenektomije pri bolnicah z nizkim in zmernim tveganjem za ponovitev bolezni. Za dokončno umestitev v smernice zdravljenja bodo v našem prostoru potrebne dodatne izkušnje glede izbire bolnic, sledenja kakovosti kirurške obravnave in nujna uvedba res poadrobnega histološkega pregleda – t. i. ultrastaginga (angl. ultrastaging) odstranjene varovalne bezgavke.

Abstract Background Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the world, and coronary angiography (CAG) is the standard test for detection of critical diseases. Nearly 25% patients undergoing angiography are found to have normal coronary arteries (NCAs). Recent publications say that the follow-up of the NCA patients is not benign. Aim The main objective of this study is to know outcomes of patients diagnosed with normal coronaries on conventional angiograms. Methods This is a single-center observational study. The authors collected the data of patients who came for CAG to their institute from January 1 to December 31, 2014. They included the patients who have normal coronaries in this study. The indication to do the CAG is chest pain (angina) for evaluation. The authors contacted every patient telephonically to know the outcomes after 2 years of CAG. The telephonic data were collected either from patients or from attendants by asking the questionnaire about the present status of patients. Results The authors collected the data of 1,526 patients who underwent the CAG during study period. Out of 1,526 patients, 201 patients with mean age of 52.45 ± 10.7 years met the inclusion criteria; 108 (53.73%) were hypertensives and 57 (28.36%) were diabetic. Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) was the presenting symptom in 28 (13.9%) of patients; the remaining patients presented with chronic stable angina (CSA). Left ventricular (LV) dysfunction was present in 15 (7.5%) of patients. At the 2-year follow-up, 12 (5.9%) patients were symptomatic, and out of them, 7 died (mortality 3.5%).The binary logistic regression showed that only blood urea (BU) was determinant factor for mortality (p = 0.022). Even LV dysfunction (p = 0.39) was not a contributor for mortality. A subanalysis of gender also showed similar findings (male, p = 0.02; female, p = 0.05). Conclusion In angina patients with NCA on CAG, the BU showed statistical significance for morality. This is true even on further sex-based analysis (male, p = 0.02; female, p = 0.05). This study helps understand that even the people with normal coronaries, they may have the symptomatic outcomes, not only because of coronaries and also with other associated diseases.

Dyspnoea and activity limitation can occur in smokers who do not meet spirometric criteria for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) but the underlying mechanisms are unknown.Detailed pulmonary function tests and sensory–mechanical relationships during incremental exercise with respiratory pressure measurements and diaphragmatic electromyography (EMGdi) were compared in 20 smokers without spirometric COPD and 20 age-matched healthy controls.Smokers (mean±sd post-bronchodilator forced expiratory volume in 1 s (FEV1)/forced vital capacity 75±4%, mean±sd FEV1 104±14% predicted) had greater activity-related dyspnoea, poorer health status and lower physical activity than controls. Smokers had peripheral airway dysfunction: higher phase-III nitrogen slopes (3.8±1.8 versus 2.6±1.1%·L−1) and airway resistance (difference between airway resistance measured at 5 Hz and 20 Hz 19±11 versus 12±7% at 5 Hz) than controls (p<0.05). Smokers had significantly (p<0.05) lower peak oxygen uptake (78±40 versus 107±45% predicted) and ventilation (61±26 versus 97±29 L·min−1). Exercise ventilatory requirements, operating lung volumes and cardio-circulatory responses were similar. However, submaximal dyspnoea ratings, resistive and total work of breathing were increased in smokers compared with controls (p<0.05); diaphragmatic effort (transdiaphragmatic pressure/maximumal transdiaphragmatic pressure) and fractional inspiratory neural drive to the diaphragm (EMGdi/maximal EMGdi) were also increased (p<0.05) mainly reflecting the reduced denominator.Symptomatic smokers at risk for COPD had greater exertional dyspnoea and lower exercise tolerance compared with healthy controls in association with greater airways resistance, contractile diaphragmatic effort and fractional inspiratory neural drive to the diaphragm.

Azuki bean (Vigna angularis Ohwi & Ohashi) is one of the traditional grain legumes in China. From 2010 to 2013, mosaic and crumpling symptoms on leaves and stunting, all typical symptoms of a viral disease, were observed on cultivars CWA030, CWA221, and JCA002 of azuki bean with incidence rates of 30 to 100% and yield losses of 50 to 95% in the three fields of Changping district, Beijing. To identify the possible viral pathogen(s), 21 symptomatic leaf samples from different cultivars were collected and total RNA was extracted from the samples and subjected to RT-PCR testing with degenerate primers targeting portions of the coding regions of Cucumovirus capsid protein (CP) (1) and Potyvirus NIb (2); these viruses had been reported in azuki bean. Fragments of 940 bp and 350 bp corresponding to Cucumovirus CP and Potyvirus NIb, respectively, were amplified from all the samples collected. Sequencing of the PCR products from nine samples, followed by BLAST analysis, confirmed the presence of Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) and Bean common mosaic virus (BCMV). All the samples tested were also positive with direct antigen coating (DAC)-ELISA using specific antiserum to CMV or BCMV (Agdia, Elkhart, IN). The CMV CP gene (GenBank Accession No. KJ467817) shared 99% sequence identity with a China CMV isolate (DQ873558). To further characterize the BCMV strain found, fragments of 3,388 bp spanning BCMV NIa, NIb, CP and 3′UTR regions were amplified with another primer set, BCMV-F (5′-AGCAAGTCAATTTACAAGGGACTTC-3′) and BCMV-R (5′-GGAACAACAAACATTGCCGTAGCTAC-3′) from three samples, and three independent clones from each sample were sequenced. Sequence analysis revealed that this segment (KJ467816) shared 98% identity with the BCMV azuki bean strain (U60100). To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of BCMV, together with CMV, naturally infecting azuki bean in China. Abstract. A growing number of ambient measurements of isocyanic acid (HNCO) are being made, yet little is known about its fate in the atmosphere. To better understand HNCO's loss processes and particularly its atmospheric partitioning behaviour, we measure its effective Henry's Law coefficient KHeff with a bubbler experiment using chemical ionization mass spectrometry as the gas phase analytical technique. By conducting experiments at different pH values and temperature, a Henry's Law coefficient KH of 26 ± 2 M atm−1 is obtained, with an enthalpy of dissolution of −34 ± 2 kJ mol−1, which translates to a KHeff of 31 M atm−1 at 298 K and at pH 3. Our approach also allows for the determination of HNCO's acid dissociation constant, which we determine to be Ka = 2.1 ± 0.2 × 10−4 M at 298 K. Furthermore, by using ion chromatography to analyze aqueous solution composition, we revisit the hydrolysis kinetics of HNCO at different pH and temperature conditions. Three pH-dependent hydrolysis mechanisms are in play and we determine the Arrhenius expressions for each rate to be k1 = (4.4 ± 0.2) × 107 exp(−6000 ± 240∕T) M s−1, k2 = (8.9 ± 0.9) × 106 exp(−6770 ± 450∕T) s−1 and k3 = (7.2 ± 1.5) × 108 exp(−10 900 ± 1400∕T) s−1, where k1 is for HNCO + H++ H2O → NH4++ CO2, k2 is for HNCO + H2O → NH3 + CO2 and k3 is for NCO−+ 2 H2O → NH3+ HCO3−. HNCO's lifetime against hydrolysis is therefore estimated to be 10 days to 28 years at pH values, liquid water contents, and temperatures relevant to tropospheric clouds, years in oceans and months in human blood. In all, a better parameterized Henry's Law coefficient and hydrolysis rates of HNCO allow for more accurate predictions of its concentration in the atmosphere and consequently help define exposure of this toxic molecule.

Abstract. Bulk aerosol samples collected during cruise M91 of FS Meteor off the coast of Peru in December 2012 were analysed for their soluble trace metal (Fe, Al, Mn, Ti, Zn, V, Ni, Cu, Co, Cd, Pb, Th) and major ion (including NO3− and NH4+) content. These data are among the first recorded for trace metals in this relatively poorly studied region of the global marine atmosphere. To the north of ∼ 13° S, the concentrations of several elements (Fe, Ti, Zn, V, Ni, Pb) appear to be related to distance from the coast. At the south of the transect ( ∼ 15–16° S), elevated concentrations of Fe, Cu, Co, and Ni were observed, and we calculated dry deposition fluxes of soluble Cu approximately an order of magnitude higher than a recent model-based estimate of total Cu deposition to the region. The model did not take account of emissions from the large smelting facilities in the south of Peru and northern Chile, and our results may indicate that these facilities constitute an important source of trace metals to the region. Calculated dry deposition fluxes (3370–17800 and 16–107 nmol m−2 d−1 for inorganic nitrogen and soluble Fe respectively) indicated that atmospheric input to the waters of the Peru upwelling system contains an excess of Fe over N, with respect to phytoplankton requirements. This may be significant as primary production in these waters has been reported to be limited by Fe availability, but atmospheric deposition is unlikely to be the dominant source of Fe to the system.

Abstract:
The Duhuangling and Jiusangou gold deposits are located east of the Yanbian area, northeast China. We present the results of systematic studies of the ore geology, fluid inclusion (FI) features, and isotopic geochemistry of the two gold deposits. Four mineralization stages have been defined in each gold deposit: pyrite + sericite + quartz (stage I), quartz + pyrite ± chalcopyrite ± arsenopyrite (stage II), quartz + native gold + polymetallic sulfide (stage III), and quartz–calcite (stage IV). FIs from the two gold deposits are similar and contain five types: pure vapor phase (V-type), vapor-rich phase (RV-type), liquid-rich phase (RL-type), daughter mineral-bearing polyphase (S-type), and pure liquid phase (L-type). Stage I FIs homogenize at temperatures of 350–450 °C, yielding salinities of 5.40–48.67 wt.%. FIs from both stages II and III samples homogenize at 160–350 °C, yielding salinities of 5.71–39.75 wt.%. FIs in pyrite from the stage II have 3He/4He ratios of 0.0069–0.0148 Ra and 40Ar/36Ar ratios of 1302–4433, demonstrating that ore-forming fluids of the two gold deposits were derived from the crust. The δD values of the two gold deposits range from −107‰ to −92‰, with δ18OH2O values from 4.3‰ to 9.0‰, indicating that the ore-forming fluids were mainly magmatic water in origin. Lead isotope data suggest that the ore-forming materials were originated from deep crust. Integrated data indicate that both Duhuangling and Jiusangou gold deposits are medium- to high-temperature, hydrothermal gold deposits.
