Abstract:
Roundness error evaluation software is developed based on two-dimensional circle fitting with least-squares method based on nonlinear optimization with constraints. The local derivative-free optimization algorithms of NLopt can solve nonlinear constraint problems by combining with augmented Lagrangian algorithm. The fitting precision and convergence time of each algorithm are analyzed by calculating the fitting results with same test data to find its advantages and disadvantages. It is shown that each algorithm has different behaviors from others on performance and stability. This work provide

Abstract. Most geophysical models include many parameters that are not fully determined by theory, and can be “tuned” to improve the model's agreement with available data. We might attempt to automate this tuning process in an objective way by employing an optimisation algorithm to find the set of parameters that minimises a cost function derived from comparing model outputs with measurements. A number of algorithms are available for solving optimisation problems, in various programming languages, but interfacing such software to a complex geophysical model simulation presents certain challeng

Abstract:
The dimension reduction methods have been proved powerful and practical to extract latent features in the signal for process monitoring. A linear dimension reduction method called nonlocal orthogonal preserving embedding (NLOPE) and its nonlinear form named nonlocal kernel orthogonal preserving embedding (NLKOPE) are proposed and applied for condition monitoring and fault detection. Different from kernel orthogonal neighborhood preserving embedding (KONPE) and kernel principal component analysis (KPCA), the NLOPE and NLKOPE models aim at preserving global and local data structures simultaneous

Abstract:
A discussion of the functional setting customarily adopted in General Relativity (GR) is proposed. This is based on the introduction of the notion of nonlocal point transformations (NLPTs). While allowing the extension of the traditional concept of GR-reference frame, NLPTs are important because they permit the explicit determination of the map between intrinsically different and generally curved space-times expressed in arbitrary coordinate systems. For this purpose in the paper the mathematical foundations of NLPT-theory are laid down and basic physical implications are considered. In partic

Drriven by changes in agricultural production practices, nitrogen (N) inputs have increased steadily on Canadian farms. An agro-environmental indicator was developed to monitor potential water pollution by N: indicator risk of water contamination by nitrate-nitrogen (IROWC-N). The indicator links the residual soil nitrogen (RSN) indicator to climate and soil conditions to assess the likelihood of N moving through the soil and out of the agricultural system. The results are assessed in terms of Nlost via leached water (Nlost) and its concentration in the leached water (Nconc), with the IROWC-N

A software program was written that implements a finite element analysis (FEA) solution as the basis of an optimization function used for guiding the inverse design problem of aligning fibres, minimizing displacements in a fibre-reinforced polymer composite part in response to a given loading condition, for various part geometries. The FEA solution makes use of the superlinear RGNTet4 element, which includes 3 displacement and 3 rotational degrees of freedom at 4 nodes.
