In recent years, there has been a growing interest in no-code automation tools for business processes in the IT industry. Over the last fi ve years, investments in no-code platforms have crossed one billion dollars. The study focuses on the analysis of these technologies in the context of small and large businesses. However, the issue of replacing traditional development remains. The study aims to determine who benefits from using no-code and who benefi ts from traditional evelopment. The research is relevant since companies have limited resources. Methods include effi ciency analysis and comparison of implementation results. The advantages of no-code include speed, cost, and low risks, but it is dependent on the software solution and requires programming skills. The study calls for a balance between the use of no-code and traditional development to maximize benefi ts. Based on the research, it is established that no-code and low-code development are less effective without traditional programming and will be more effective for implementation in companies that already have a team of IT specialists.

Abstract:
Algorithms have evolved from machine code to low-code-no-code (LCNC) in the past 20 years. Observing the growth of LCNC-based algorithm development, the CEO of GitHub mentioned that the future of coding is no coding at all. This paper systematically reviewed several of the recent studies using mainstream LCNC platforms to understand the area of research, the LCNC platforms used within these studies, and the features of LCNC used for solving individual research questions. We identified 23 research works using LCNC platforms, such as SetXRM, the vf-OS platform, Aure-BPM, CRISP-DM, and Microsoft Power Platform (MPP). About 61% of these existing studies resorted to MPP as their primary choice. The critical research problems solved by these research works were within the area of global news analysis, social media analysis, landslides, tornadoes, COVID-19, digitization of process, manufacturing, logistics, and software/app development. The main reasons identified for solving research problems with LCNC algorithms were as follows: (1) obtaining research data from multiple sources in complete automation; (2) generating artificial intelligence-driven insights without having to manually code them. In the course of describing this review, this paper also demonstrates a practical approach to implement a cyber-attack monitoring algorithm with the most popular LCNC platform.

Over the last couple of years, low-code/no-code development is gaining increased interest for its potential to speed up application creation with less direct coding. In specific, these platforms have experienced high value for merging advanced Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems such as Salesforce that generally involve flawless communication with many third-party apps. This paper explores the use of Low-code no code tools for Salesforce Integration/Development, their features and advantages as well as caveats. This study aims to provide insights into how Low-code no code tools can actually help in improving Salesforce integration irrespective of whether the user has technical skills or not using various set of platforms available as of today. The results point to Low-code no code tools offering many benefits in terms of speed and ease of use, but also some limitations especially regarding complex integrations. The paper concludes with recommending future research and developments in this area.

The times when malware was mostly written by curious teenagers are long gone. Nowadays, threats come from criminals, competitors, and government agencies. Some of them are very skilled and very targeted in their attacks. At the same time, our devices – for instance mobile phones and TVs – have become more complex, connected, and open for the execution of third-party software. Operating systems should separate untrusted software from confidential data and critical services. But their vulnerabilities often allow malware to break the separation and isolation they are designed to provide. To strengthen protection of select assets, security research has started to create complementary machinery such as security hypervisors and separation kernels, whose sole task is separation and isolation. The reduced size of these solutions allows for thorough inspection, both manual and automated. In some cases, formal methods are applied to create mathematical proofs on the security of these systems. The actual isolation solutions themselves are carefully analyzed and included software is often even verified on binary level. The role of other software and hardware for the overall system security has received less attention so far. The subject of this thesis is to shed light on these aspects, mainly on (i) unprivileged third-party code and its ability to influence security, (ii) peripheral devices with direct access to memory, and (iii) boot code and how we can selectively enable and disable isolation services without compromising security. The papers included in this thesis are both design and verification oriented, however, with an emphasis on the analysis of instruction set architectures. With the help of a theorem prover, we implemented various types of machinery for the automated information flow analysis of several processor architectures. The analysis is guaranteed to be both sound and accurate.<br>Förr skrevs skadlig mjukvara mest av nyfikna tonåringar. Idag är våra datorer under ständig hot från statliga organisationer, kriminella grupper, och kanske till och med våra affärskonkurrenter. Vissa besitter stor kompetens och kan utföra fokuserade attacker. Samtidigt har tekniken runtomkring oss (såsom mobiltelefoner och tv-apparater) blivit mer komplex, uppkopplad och öppen för att exekvera mjukvara från tredje part. Operativsystem borde egentligen isolera känslig data och kritiska tjänster från mjukvara som inte är trovärdig. Men deras sårbarheter gör det oftast möjligt för skadlig mjukvara att ta sig förbi operativsystemens säkerhetsmekanismer. Detta har lett till utveckling av kompletterande verktyg vars enda funktion är att förbättra isolering av utvalda känsliga resurser. Speciella virtualiseringsmjukvaror och separationskärnor är exempel på sådana verktyg. Eftersom sådana lösningar kan utvecklas med relativt liten källkod, är det möjligt att analysera dem noggrant, både manuellt och automatiskt. I några fall används formella metoder för att generera matematiska bevis på att systemet är säkert. Själva isoleringsmjukvaran är oftast utförligt verifierad, ibland till och med på assemblernivå. Dock så har andra komponenters påverkan på systemets säkerhet hittills fått mindre uppmärksamhet, både när det gäller hårdvara och annan mjukvara. Den här avhandlingen försöker belysa dessa aspekter, huvudsakligen (i) oprivilegierad kod från tredje part och hur den kan påverka säkerheten, (ii) periferienheter med direkt tillgång till minnet och (iii) startkoden, samt hur man kan aktivera och deaktivera isolationstjänster på ett säkert sätt utan att starta om systemet. Avhandlingen är baserad på sex tidigare publikationer som handlar om både design- och verifikationsaspekter, men mest om säkerhetsanalys av instruktionsuppsättningar. Baserat på en teorembevisare har vi utvecklat olika verktyg för den automatiska informationsflödesanalysen av processorer. Vi har använt dessa verktyg för att tydliggöra vilka register oprivilegierad mjukvara har tillgång till på ARM- och MIPS-maskiner. Denna analys är garanterad att vara både korrekt och precis. AbstractThe Agile development methodology is soaring in popularity in the business world. Companies are turning to Agile to develop products quickly and to achieve digital transformation of their organization. Because of this push, companies need employees who understand Agile. Therefore, higher education is obligated to provide an understanding of Agile to students as they enter the workplace. Providing Agile experience to students who are new to programming is difficult because they are so worried about the coding aspects of the assignment, they cannot take time to think about the methodology they are using. The coding crowds out the time needed to get an understanding of how Agile actually works. One remedy for this is to use a low or no-code development platform. With this type of platform students spend less time learning to create apps, freeing them to experience the rituals and roles of Agile. This study examines using the Agile methodology along with the Microsoft Power Apps platform to provide an Agile experience to students. Two course sections were surveyed to learn if students perceived that they acquired a better understanding of Agile and to learn their perceptions of a no-code platform experience. The students completed surveys to ascertain their comfort with the Agile methodology and whether the no-code environment increased their comfort level. The results showed students perceived the no-code platform increased their comfort with using the Agile methodology. The implication is that no-code platforms can be used broadly to help students to gain experience with Agile.

AbstractMany historical data collections foot on handwritten documents and registers, whose consultation is often very difficult due to the conservation state of the physical artefacts, and whose comprehension is also made difficult by the handwriting, difficult to interpret, and the language used, different from the modern terminology. Therefore significant research efforts by historians, demographers, population health scientists and others have been started in the past with the aim of making such data collections digitally available, first on the basis of images and then as readily available repositories of transcribed data in electronically queryable formats. For the purpose of extracting data from the Irish Civil registers of deaths in the DBDIrl 1864-1922 project (https://www.dbdirl.com), an AI-ML Data Analytics Pipeline was proposed as a working approach validated on a subset of the data. However, the pipeline requires manual steps and it is not applicable as is on similar datasets without significant modifications to its inner workings.We are currently transforming this prototyped, single purpose product to a modular, fully automated workflow, intended to be used and reconfigured for new data in a low-code/no-code fashion by domain experts like historians. We explain our adopted analysis and refactoring process, illustrate it on part of the pipeline, including how we faced obstacles and handled pitfalls. We also evaluate its potential to become a methodical approach to transforming an interactive program to a fully automated process, in a low-code/no-code workflow style, that can be easily reused, reconfigured and extended to be able to tailor it to other datasets as needed.

Low-code and no-code applications are increasingly becoming the technology of choice for many professionals in the digital workplace. According to Gartner data, 70% of new apps built by enterprises will employ low-code or no-code technologies by 2025, up from less than 25% in 2020. The proliferation of these platforms is fueling the rise of citizen development. The objective of this chapter is to discuss briefly how they are different from our traditional software development and evaluate the risks, vulnerabilities, threats, and security concerns associated with auditing them. Also, after assessing these risks, the authors will identify controls that can be used to mitigate these risks. The key security concerns and proposed security measures to safeguard low-code/no-code platforms were analyzed using a systematic approach. Low-code/no-code applications becoming more and more popular would especially within the public sector foster faster digitalization of public services. Working with these applications requires no programming skills and therefore, professionals within their domain can easily implement digital prototypes independent of designers and software developers. Respectively, public administrative employees and executives often have a deep understanding of the actual digital public services to be implemented. Low-code development tools have been evaluated within the healthcare sector (Ness et al., 2019), educational sector (Khosrojerdi et al., 2021), whereas Gottschick et al. (2023) applied a software development approach using low-code/no-code for implementation of a public sector cloud service. Lethbridge (2021) stated a need to first provide proper low-code platforms, to have an impact on faster development of digital services. This led us to the question: Which low-code prototyping tools exist and what their opportunities and challenges are when used by public sector employees? By expert evaluation (Harley, 2019), we compared Figma (Figma, 2016) and the Figma-Low-Code plugin (Figma Community, 2020) with the customized low-code platform Modul-F (Senatskanzlei Hamburg, 2023) for the public sector. We found an advanced maturity in structure, layout and functions of both low-code platforms. According to Nielsen’s (2023) usability quality criteria, learnability of Modul-F was fast (high), and learnability of Figma with Low-Code plugin was rated neutral (medium). The efficiency of the Modul-F Editor was high, it was low for Figma with the low-code plugin. However, memorability was low for both platforms. Running the Figma-Low-Code plugin did require programming skills. Building a prototype with the Modul-F Editor did not allow to design individual user flows. In the future, usability studies should be conducted to assess flaws and satisfaction during actual use by public administrative employees, executives, and designers having no programming skills. Moreover, we anticipate that a nation-wide public service design system with component library, e.g. KERN UX-Standard (Senatskanzlei Hamburg, 2024), would fully leverage the potential of any low-code/no-code platform. To conclude, using low-code/no-code platforms requires interdisciplinary teams of administrative staff and designers working together on digital concepts on a professional daily basis.

This presentation aims to illustrate the importance of having such hybrid teams in any organization. By empowering non-technical employees to create custom software solutions, organizations can access a diverse range of knowledge and expertise to meet the needs of all stakeholders. DataGMA exemplifies this approach, having successfully improved data-driven processes at YPF Upstream NOC through the development and implementation of short-term Digital Solutions. By utilizing microservice principles and agile methodologies, DataGMA has made a significant impact on the organization, fostering a culture of data-driven decision making and improving various business processes. Specifically, DataGMA is a YPF Upstream NOC multidisciplinary team that combines geoscientists with technical support to deliver short-term solutions using Python and Low Code Platforms. While IT manages main and corporate applications according to corporate priorities and scope, DataGMA can take on new challenges and provide targeted solutions for short-term needs. Historical data was officially safeguarded and made available through new workflows, via optimized formats. Many manual tasks were replaced by automatic processes and many Python applications were created to optimize the interpretations of physical phenomena, with minimal cost. Finally, work methodologies and reporting of various disciplines were optimized through a combination of dashboards and low code application building. Throughout 3 years, DataGMA has improved many business processes by tackling non-governed data and building data awareness. This has radically improved engagement around the data life cycle and reduced time of no valuable work, such as repetitive or inefficient tasks. With a dynamic approach, the team was able to solve, not only recurrent business problems but new challenging ones, which has helped with digital transformation transition. DataGMA is an example of how a group of citizen Developers, included in a team with access to digital technologies, can achieve a direct impact on business performance.

This program aims to decentralize IT operations, increase innovation, reduce costs, and enhance customer experience. The democratization of technology is the core concept behind the citizen developer program, which enables businesses to create their applications and automate their processes [1]. The implementation of a citizen developer program requires careful planning and consideration of various factors, including change management, awareness and marketing of the concept, training, selecting the correct low code no code tool, management buy-in, building a community of practices for citizen developers, governance/policy, and more. These elements are critical to the program's success and must be carefully considered during implementation. This manuscript provides a framework for implementing a citizen developer program in the oil and gas industry. It also includes a case study of implementing such a program and creating significant value in Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Company (KIPIC). The Framework emphasizes the importance of change management, awareness and marketing of the concept, training, selecting the correct low code no code tool, management buy-in, building a community of practices for citizen developers, governance/policy, and more. The manuscript aims to provide insights into the benefits of implementing a citizen developer program in the oil and gas industry and its potential impact on the IT operational model. In summary, the citizen developer program represents a paradigm shift in the oil and gas industry, which enables businesses to create and deploy applications without relying solely on IT professionals. Abstract:
The detailed mechanisms of purge flow interaction with the hot-gas flow path were investigated using both unsteady CFD and measurements for a turbine operating at design corrected conditions. This turbine consisted of a single-stage high-pressure turbine and the downstream, low-pressure turbine nozzle row with an aerodynamic design equivalent to actual engine hardware and typical of a commercial, high-pressure ratio, transonic turbine. The high-pressure vane airfoils and inner and outer endwalls incorporated state-of-the-art film cooling, and purge flow was introduced into the cavity located between the high-pressure vane and disk. The flow field above and below the blade angel wing was characterized by both temperature and pressure measurements. Predictions of the time-dependent flow field were obtained using a three-dimensional, Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes CFD code and a computational model incorporating the three blade rows and the purge flow cavity. The predictions were performed to evaluate the accuracy obtained by a design style application of the code, and no adjustment of boundary conditions was made to better match the experimental data. Part I of this paper compared the predictions to the measurements in and around the purge flow cavity and demonstrated good correlation. Part II of this paper concentrates on the analytical results, looking at the primary gas path ingestion mechanism into the cavity as well as the effects of the rotor purge on the upstream vane and downstream rotor aerodynamics and thermodynamics. Ingestion into the cavity is driven by high static pressure regions downstream of the vane, high-velocity flow coming off the pressure side of the vane, and the blade bow waves. The introduction of the purge flow is seen to have an effect on the static pressure of the vane trailing edge in the lower 5% of span. In addition, the purge flow is weak enough that upon exiting the cavity, it is swept into the mainstream flow and provides no additional cooling benefits on the platform of the rotating blade.
