Abstract:
This article applies a comparative method for studying the role of the nobility in the formation of modern Baltic nations in order to elucidate the factors, which determined role differences. Noble attitudes to ethnosocial changes, changes of ethnopolitical self-consciousness of nobility and the position of nobility in the emergence of national cultures are scrutinized. As it follows from the comparison, deconstruction of the feudal social system in Lithuania made the nobility turn their attention to the peasantry and to common interests and common origins, to find out ethnogenetical community

Abstract Objectives Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a complication of diabetes, caused by high blood glucose levels damaging to blood vessels in the retina. It can leading cause of blindness. Nobiletin is a polymethoxyflavone present in citrus fruit and peels, it has anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory effects. This study investigated the protective effects of nobiletin on retinal blood-retinal barrier (BRB) breakdown in high glucose-exposed human retinal endothelial cells and in db/db mouse eyes. This study aimed to investigate a synergistic anti-inflammatory effect of a citrus flavonoid nobiletin and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), one of n-3 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids, in combination. Simultaneous treatment with nobiletin and DHA synergistically inhibited nitric oxide production (combination index < 0.9) by mouse macrophage-like RAW 264.7 cells stimulated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) without cytotoxicity. On the other hand, the inhibitory effect of nobiletin and DHA in combination on proinflammatory cytokine production was not synergistic. Neither nobiletin nor DHA affect

Natural products are very promising adjuvants with a variety of biological activities. Nobiletin, a citrus polymethoxyflavone, has been shown to exert an anticancer effect in various cell lines. In this study, we investigated the effects of nobiletin on cell viability, sphere formation, migration and invasion of pancreatic cancer cells, and the underlying mechanisms. Our results demonstrate that nobiletin significantly inhibited PANC-1 cell migration and invasion, and these effects were associated with downregulation of MMP-2. We also found that nobiletin, in a low concentration, exhibited a s

Prevention and treatment of Alzheimer disease are urgent problems for elderly people in developed countries. We previously reported that nobiletin, a poly-methoxylated flavone from the citrus peel, improved the symptoms in various types of animal models of memory loss and activated the cAMP responsive element (CRE)-dependent transcription in PC12 cells. Nobiletin activated the cAMP/PKA/MEK/Erk/MAPK signaling pathway without using the TrkA signaling activated by nerve growth factor (NGF). Here, we examined the effect of combination of nobiletin and NGF on the CRE-dependent transcription in PC12

The “Traité de la noblesse” by Gilles-André de La Rocque de La Lontière is an example of the treatises on nobility that were prevalent in early modern Europe. The author, a renowned French genealogist, heraldist, and royal historiographer, presented his work as a comprehensive summary and conclusion on the issues surrounding nobility in French society. Although Larocque’s voluminous treatise has been referenced by researchers of the French nobility, it has not been the subject of in-depth investigation by Russian historians. This paper aims to address this gap in the historical literature by a

Polymethoxyflavones are flavonoids that are abundant in citrus fruit peels and have beneficial effects on human health. Previous studies have demonstrated that the polymethoxyflavones, namely sudachitin and nobiletin, ameliorate obesity and diabetes in humans and rodents. Although nobiletin induces lipolysis in adipocytes, lipolytic pathway activation by sudachitin has not been clarified in adipocytes. In this study, the effect of sudachitin on lipolysis was elucidated in murine 3T3-L1 adipocytes. Glycerol release into the medium and activation of the cyclic AMP (cAMP)/protein kinase A (PKA)/h
