We point out that the Nobel prize production of the USA, the UK, Germany and France has been in numbers that are large enough to allow for a reliable analysis of the long-term historical developments. Nobel prizes are often split, such that up to three awardees receive a corresponding fractional prize. The historical trends for the fractional number of Nobelists per population are surprisingly robust, indicating in particular that the maximum Nobel productivity peaked in the 1970s for the USA and around 1900 for both France and Germany. Excepting the Nobel Peace Prize, most of the international peace prizes are little known; some are not even regularly awarded; and a number of these, including the Nobel Peace Prize, shows little appreciation for the role of peace educators and researchers in promoting peace and building peace in different parts of the world. The denial of Noble Peace Prize to peace academics like Richard Falk, Elise Boulding and Johan Galtung and several others is a reflection of its bias against peace thinkers, peace educators and peace researchers. Abstract The study of structure–function relationships of membrane proteins (MPs) has been one of the major goals in the field of structural biology. Many Noble Prizes regarding remarkable accomplishments in MP structure determination and biochemistry have been awarded over the last few decades. Mutations or improper folding of these proteins are associated with numerous serious illnesses. Therefore, as important drug targets, the study of their primary sequence and three-dimensional fold, combined with cell-based assays, provides vital information about their structure–function relationships.

The Nobel Peace Prize is more than a medal, diploma and monetary sum. This thesis investigates the nature and international impacts of this accolade. The study argues that these elements are all components of the award, and that they act as communicational tools that operate in various ways to disseminate specific messages to international publics. RF1 and RF2 recognise the three stop codons on mRNA and induce hydrolysis of the ester bond in peptidyl-tRNA. Abstract:
The Nobel Prize-winning economist Friedrich Hayek is recognized as one of the most important advocates of liberty in the 20th century. The work that earned him this distinction was The Road to Serfdom, published in 1944 and dedicated “To the socialists of all parties.” The central thesis of the book is the incompatibility of central economic planning and a society of free individuals. This article reviews the origins and some of the key arguments of this seminal work in economic thought.
