An attempt is made to quantitatively determine acidic and basic surface oxides on carbon blacks and also to monitor their acid and base strength distribution by direct potentiometric titrations in non-aqueous media. In contrast to direct titration procedures proposed so far, our method allows to distinguish clearly between several types of acidic surface oxides of different acid strength. This is mainly achieved by improvements of the non-aqueous titration media. Abstract:
Stability constants of complexes of four divalent metal ions viz. Cu2+, Pb2+,Mg2+ and Cd2+ with humic acids (HA) were determined by potentiometric titration of humic acids with the corresponding salt of the divalent metals in aqueous media under non-acid-condition. The log K (logarithm of the stability constant) ranged from 1.0942 to 2.7471 for metal-humic acid complexes were determined using point-wise computational method. The order of stability constants were obtained as follows: Cu >Pb> Cd > Mg for metal -HA complexes respectively, indicating a higher degree of complexation with C

Abstract:
We report a fully organic pyridine-tetrapyrrolic U-shaped acyclic receptor 10, which prefers a supramolecular pseudo-macrocyclic dimeric structure (10)2 in a less polar, non-coordinating solvent (e.g., CHCl3). Conversely, when it is crystalized from a polar, coordinating solvent (e.g., N,N-dimethylformamide, DMF), it exhibited an infinite supramolecular one-dimensional (1D) “zig-zag” polymeric chain, as inferred from the single-crystal X-ray structures. This supramolecular system acts as a potential receptor for strong acids, e.g., p-toluenesulfonic acid (PTSA), methane sulfonic acid (MSA), H2

Abstract:
Two simple, rapid, reliable and cost-effective methods based on titrimetry in non-aqueous medium are described for the determination of olanzapine in pharmaceuticals. In these methods, the drug dissolved in the glacial acetic acid was titrated with the acetous perchloric acid with visual and potentiometric end point detection, crystal violet being used as the indicator for visual titration. The methods are applicable over 1-15 mg range of olanzapine. The procedures were applied to determine olanzapine in pharmaceutical products and the results were found to be in a good agreement with those ob

In this study, the thermal stability and corrosivity of various CO2-loaded tertiary amine blends in both aqueous and non-aqueous form in stainless steel cylinders were studied for combined acid gas and water removal. The thermal stability was measured from the remaining amine concentration and the corrosivity was measured from the amount of various metals in blends using titration and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), respectively. The experimental data were used to calculate the rate constants of amine group loss. The developed model represented the experimental data very
