Abstract:
The control of introduced mammalian predators in New Zealand forests is crucial for the protection of native species and essential ecosystem services. Possum control in the form of aerial 1080 applications is conducted by TbFree New Zealand to prevent the spread of bovine tuberculosis, and often has the added conservation benefit of temporarily reducing levels of other mammalian predators such as rodents and mustelids. However, native non-target species such as birds and weta can also be at risk of direct and secondary poisoning following 1080 applications, as well as increased predation risk

Abstract:
Background: Mergers and acquisitions (M&A) are two types of corporate takeover strategy, that is widely used for strengthening and maintaining a firm competitive advantage in both domestic and global markets. Where the common motives behind M&A, is to achieve business expansion through synergy, or to acquire an existing external technology/product outside of a firm's own operational territory. As the world has entered an era of information and globalization, where innovation seems to prosper and different industry markets have become ever more integrated on a global scale, not least in

Abstract:
Disease management in organic apple orchards in Vermont is focused on controlling diseases with sulfur fungicides. The objective of this two year study was to evaluate the target and non-target effects of an organic disease management system containing agricultural biostimulants compared to two sulfur-based systems on foliar and fruit diseases, pest and beneficial arthropods, tree growth, yield and fruit quality on four cultivars, `Ginger Gold', `Honeycrisp' and `Liberty' and `Zestar!'. Trees were arranged in a complete randomized design of five three-tree replications in a certified organic o

Haughton, Alison Julie. "Impact of glyphosate drift on non-target field margin invertebrates." Thesis, Open University, 2000. http://oro.open.ac.uk/58056/.

Abstract:
Grassy arable field margins provide important permanent habitats for arthropods in agroecosystems and due to their proximity to high input areas, are exposed to pesticide drift. The aims of this thesis are to determine the likely effects of glyphosate drift in arable field margins by examining patterns of a medium quality spray drift intercepted by plant species in buffer strips and the effects of glyphosate on non-target field margin arthropods. Levels of mediumquality spray drift, analogous to herbicide drift, intercepted by field margin plant species in field boundaries were significantly r

Abstract:
The impact of two formulations of chromated copper arsenate (CCA) wood preservatives (Celcure AO and Tanalith C33 10) on a range of marine organisms was assessedin both laboratory and field investigations. As part of an EU project, a long-term field investigation was carried out exposing test panels of Scots pine treated to 12,24 and 48 kgm -3 CCA and untreated controls at seven coastal sites (Portsmouth, UK; Kristineberg, Sweden; La Tremblade (2 sites), France; Ria Formosa, Portugal; Sagres, Portugal; Athens, Greece). Abstract:
I present a simulation model that should be a useful tool for risk assessment of the impact of insecticide inhibitors of cholinesterase (ChE) applied in irrigated agricultural fields on non-target wildlife. I developed the model as a compartment model based on difference equations (Δt = 1 hour) and programmed with Stella® VII software. Conceptually the model is compartmentalized into six submodels describing the dynamics of (1) insecticide application, (2) insecticide movement into floodable soil, (3) irrigation and rain, (4) insecticide dissolution in water, (5) foraging and insecticide
