Abstract:
Non-verbal communication is often used to describe feelings, emotions, and others. Non-verbal communication can strengthen and complement verbal communication. Therefore, in life must combine the two communications. Like the nazham contained in the al-Munawwaraq embroidery Fil ‘Ilmi Mantiq. Which explains about lafadh and ghairu lafadh both are related to one another. So that both the majority of students and some teachers who study the book sulam al-Munawwaraq Fil ‘Ilmi Mantiq do not know that there is a discussion of communication in the nazham. The phenomenon finally motivated a study entitled "Analysis of Non Verbal Communication Content in the book al-Munawwaraq Fil‘ Ilmi Mantiq". This study is focused only on a nazham found in the book sulam al-Munawwaraq Fil ‘Ilmi Mantiq, the nazham is conducted using the library research method, namely research carried out using literary literature, such as the yellow books, notes, and previous research report. This study yielded several answers, namely non-verbal communication in the book Sulam Al-Munawwaraq is found in the nazham was violated, as well as the value of non-verbal communication in the book sulam al-Munawwaraq Fil ‘Ilmi Mantiq namely in the discussion of ghairu lafdhiyyah. The same is true of non-verbal communication put forward by communication experts. Then it can be concluded that the non-verbal communication contained in the book sulam al-Munawwaraq Fil ‘Ilmi Mantiq is exactly the same as the non-verbal communication stated by communication experts.

Abstract:
Human beings, in their various environments, communicate their ideas, feelings, and life experiences through verbal or non-verbal means. The way people speak, move their bodies, gesticulate, and handle spatial relationships are important to all kinds of interpersonal communication. In most non-verbal communication situations, as experienced in the Nigerian environment during the Covid'19 pandemic, we observed that interlocutors, even in their silent states, use nonlinguistic forms to communicate meanings (through space and body language). This paper examined the imperatives of space and body language during the Covid'19 era. Much of what has occupied the interest of scholarship has been verbal (speaking and writing) rather than non-verbal communication. But the Covid'19 challenges have opened a fresh vista of attention to the other modes of communicating messages to a target audience. This paper wondered how easy and possible it was to employ appropriate multi-modal media of information dissemination targeted at controlling the ugly situation, saving the lives of people, and achieving fidelity of desired action in such a multilingual/cultural environment as Nigeria. This triggered the researchers' selection and evaluation of some of the communications made through space (proxemics), body language (kinesics), and other non-verbal symbolic modes, their imperatives, and challenges during this period. The analysis was anchored on the multimodal theory of discourse which is an approach that takes into account multiple modes of communication and how they interact with one another to produce meaning. The study is qualitative in nature and allows the interpretation of data according to the context of use. It is hoped that the findings of the paper shall not only expose the important place of non-verbal communication but will also add to the corpus of knowledge concerning the dynamics of human communication in general.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this study is to examine how tweeters drawn from three different languages and cultural boundaries manage the lack of contextual cues through an analysis of Arabic, English and Korean tweets. Design/methodology/approach Data for this study is drawn from a corpus of tweets (n = 1,200) streamed using Python through Twitter API. Using the language information, the authors limited the number of tweets to 400 randomly selected tweets from each language, totaling 1,200 tweets. Final coding taxonomy was derived through interactive processes preceded by literature and a preliminary analysis based on a small subset (n = 150) by isolating nonverbal communication devices and emoticons. Findings The results of the study present that there is great commonality across these tweets in terms of strategies and creativity in compensating for the constraints imposed by the tweet platform. The language-specific characteristics are also shown in the form of different usage of devices. Research limitations/implications Emoticon usage indicates that the communication mode influences online social interaction; the restriction of 140 maximum characters seems to engender a frequent usage of emoticons across tweets regardless of language differences. The results of the study bring forth implications into the design of social media technologies that reflect affective aspects of communication and language-/culture-specific traits and characteristics. Originality/value To the best of the authors’ knowledge, there are no qualitative studies examining paralinguistic nonverbal communication cues in the Twitter platform across language boundaries.

Abstract:
Background: Verbal and non-verbal communications are an inherent component of physician-patient interactions. The psychological and physiological benefits of non-verbal communication such as gestures, expressions, eye contact, and particularly physical touch in healthcare have been previously explored by the scientific community, albeit insufficiently in the primary care context. Objective: This study aims to address this gap by investigating physician and patient perceptions of expressive touch and its effect on patient satisfaction in primary care consultations in Lebanon. Methods: We recruited 12 physicians and 13 patients and subjected them to audiotaped semi-structured interviews. We selected the patients from three hospitals, while physician responders were from the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the Lebanese University. We translated the survey instrument into Arabic and validated it using back translation sustained by a pilot study. We performed constant comparative qualitative analysis for obtained relevant data. Results: Patient satisfaction and trust were associated with good verbal and non-verbal communication. Patient and physician responders recognized the benefit of empathy in building long-term relationships. Social and non-intimate expressive touches were positively perceived by patients, although within ethical and religious boundaries. Male physicians expressed clear apprehension for the use of touch, especially towards female patients, due to religious considerations. On the other hand, touch from female physicians was reportedly accepted by patients of both genders, while touch from their male counterparts was associated with more uneasiness. Discussion and Conclusions: Religious concerns are prevalent among Lebanese physicians and patients alike. However, the use of reassuring physical touch is still a cornerstone of the patient-physician relationship in Lebanon, albeit with some limitations. The potential therapeutic effect of verbal and non-verbal communication is evident and warrants further investigation. Communication training efforts should emphasize the importance of religiously and ethically appropriate expressive touch in healthcare. This would serve to promote positive physician and patient perceptions of this practice and improve clinical communication and expressiveness.

Abstract:
Non-verbal behaviour is very important in conversations, yet it is not given much attention. Foreign language learners who are not exposed to these pivotal non-verbal communications will find it difficult to recognise it during a conversation which consequently could lead to confusion. In addition, it will also affect the flow of the conversation especially among language learners that have less access to real language situations or native speakers. This article begins with analysing a German language conversation in a German film “A Coffee in Berlin” by Jan Ole Gerster, to detect the non-verbal turn-taking signals as well as to interpret the function and purpose of the signals based on the Stenstrom’s theory (1994) of turn-taking. This article uses Gesprächsanalytisches Transkriptionssystem 2 (discourse and conversation- analytic transcription 2) or also recognised as GAT 2 by Selting (2009) for the data transcription as it is highly adaptable in transcribing data of German language to detect the non-verbal turn-taking signals in the conversation. Qualitative descriptive is chosen as the method of this study as it is detailed, comprehensive and makes sense to the reader. Using the method and theories stated bring results of the non-verbal turn-taking signals such as gaze, gestures and facial expression which are used in German conversation when yielding, continuing and taking the floor of conversation. Abstract:
We aimed to identify and categorise advanced communication skills used by experienced consultant paediatric anaesthetists to facilitate the induction of paediatric anaesthesia. The communication techniques were both verbal and non-verbal. Communications with potentially negative effects were also noted. Eighty-three inductions were observed over a three-month period. The 12 anaesthetists observed were all senior consultants at a tertiary referral paediatric centre. The mean age of patients was 6.1 years SD±4.8. There were 53 males (63.9%) and 30 females (36.1%). A first anaesthetic was administered to 43 patients (56%) and sedative premedication to six (8%). Inhalational inductions were observed in 59 patients (71%). The remainder received an intravenous induction. Anaesthesia was induced in the operating room on 68 occasions (82%), in the induction room on 11 (13%) and in the radiology department on 4(5%). The most common communication techniques used were: voice change in 60 (72%); distraction in 49 (59%); direct commands in 39 (47%); repetition in 34 (41%); imagery in 21 (25%) and focused attention 21 (25%). Other techniques used were seeding of ideas, utilisation, non-verbal cues, double-binds, story-telling, indirect suggestion, dissociation and reversed effect. Sabotage by parents or staff, such as inadvertent negative suggestions, was observed on 14 occasions (17%). Paediatric anaesthetists utilise a wide range of communication techniques in a highly flexible manner when inducing anaesthesia in children. Many of these communications can be characterised as hypnotherapeutic. Our observations suggest that formal structured training in communication skills and further research is warranted.

Abstract:
The article studies the predictors of speech development at 3-4-year old children with autism. The study included 50 children at the age of 3-4 years (10 girls and 40 boys) diagnosed “autism spectrum disorder”, including 9 non-speaking children and 12 weak-speaking children who could use several-word phrases. The study used the CARS method to determine autism and A.R. Luria’s neuropsychological method to determine the children’s psychophysical development. The average psychological age for non-speaking children was determined with the LEITER-3 method and with the A. Binet-T.Simon method. A good convergence of the examination results received by both methods was obtained for the children with autism (the validity criterion - Cronbach's alpha was 0.75), which indicated the possibility to use the LEITER-3 method for the determination of autistic children’s psychological age. We found that the average mental development of children with autism was below their biological age, ranging from 4 months to 3 years and 5 months. On the basis of neuropsychological study of children with autism by A.R. Luria’s method and the CARS method, the development of verbal and non-verbal communication of the studied children was identified. The development of verbal and non-verbal communications depended on an autism degree: the worse autism is, the less developed are children’s speech abilities. The performed correlation and factor analyses allowed us to determine the predictors of communicative competence development for early-age children with autism. In particular, we has determined that neuropsychological indicators such as body possession, movements and actions, orientation, dynamic praxis, activity level, imitation, acoustic gnosis, and intellectual development are the predictors of further non-verbal communication development. The predictors of verbal communication are the following indicators: acoustic gnosis, visual reaction, sensory, object use, and a child’s intellectual development. Taking into account the specifics of the sensory perception and the information processing characteristic for the examined disorder, the sequence of speech therapists’ actions aimed at speech correction of children with autism is proposed.

Abstract:
Changes in the media environment always lead to changes in the media system, which reflects a different quality of communication. The nature of actors, channels, effects becomes an object of attention of researchers of mass communications. The article deals with the problem of the transformation of the mass communication system, which includes both cinematography and fiction, which can be freely broadcast through various channels, including digital channels. The article considers a new concept, i.e. "communication product". It is understood as a result of professional activity in the field of public and mass communications for the production of a media product, an event product, an advertising and PR product. The media environment is currently characterized by its own messages. They can be built both in traditional newsmaking models (both in journalism and public relations), and in storytelling, narrative (both in advertising and media communications). The article considers such trends in the media environment as the use of hype content, memes and various fakes. The reasons for the emergence of media communications are revealed. There are technological reasons, as modern communication technologies can open access to information to all comers. There are social ones, as new media allows Internet users to actively participate in communications and selectively treat messages they receive. The characteristics of the phenomenon of media communications are distinguished, separating it from journalism, advertising and public relations. The notion of media communications as a process of creation, processing and broadcasting, as well as information exchange in individual, group, mass format through various channels of mass communication (mainly online) is being introduced into scientific circulation through various communication tools - verbal / non-verbal; auditory, audiovisual, visual.

Abstract:
The Lupon Tagapamayapa (LT) of the two barangays in Sarangani Province- Barangay Baliton in Glan and Barangay Upo in Maitum- were studied as to the skills and strategies they employ in resolving petty conflicts as a means of communication towards building peace in the community. Using qualitative-content analysis, multiple sources of data were used namely FGD, KII, Venn Diagram and Observation with video and note taking. It was found out that the LTs of both barangays Baliton (mostly populated by Blaan indigenous people) and Upo (with the Tboli natives)—applied similar processes and procedures in resolving conflicts prescribed by the Local Government Code such as: Greetings and Introduction, Conflict Settlement Proper and The Settlement and Resolution. On language use and communication skills, both LTs demonstrated competence both in verbal and non-verbal communications. In verbal communication, the LT used carefully chosen words, aphorism, rhetorical question and analogy; while in non-verbal communication, the LT regulated the tone and volume of the voice, used appropriate hand gestures and eye contact. Further, the LT employed strategies such as collaboration, compromise, spiritual advice, and active listening. Land conflict is the most common case resolved by the LT. This is followed by debts and assault. Misunderstanding and differences in principles and value judgment are the most common factors that cause conflicts in the community. Aside from these, jealousy, theft, selfishness, vices, and broken relationships were also identified. The study also revealed factors that could hinder or facilitate the conflict resolution, which were differing goals and levels of compromise and frustration. With the personal, interpersonal, cultural, and structural changes among the members of the LT, the study recommends further research on the competence of LT among remote communities and or other indigenous groups in Mindanao for a broader and more enhanced justice system in the barangays. Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this research is to understand how low-income, ethnically diverse, Medicaid recipients read, interpret and use culturally tailored health communications, specifically health plan report cards and health intervention/wellness program recruitment materials. Design/methodology/approach The paper reports two exploratory studies on message design. Researchers considered 12 focus groups for Study 1, consisting of 51 African-American, Hispanic and non-Hispanic White men and women who were enrolled in Medicaid and had a behavioral health diagnosis and a chronic disease. Researchers considered 22 focus groups for Study 2, consisting of 102 Hispanic, African-American and non-Hispanic White women enrolled in Medicaid. Findings The paper provides qualitative insights into how underserved populations interpret the visual and verbal aspects of health communications. Key findings include problems with cultural tailoring and monetary incentives for health improvement program participation, message components that show respect and are more likely to be read, how visuals can expand verbal messages and provide symbolic models and specifics on the desired image content. Research limitations/implications Because of the qualitative approach, the research results may lack generalizability. Thus, researchers suggest conducting quantitative studies to test these findings. Practical implications The paper includes implications for the development of powerful verbal and visual messaging for underserved populations. Additionally, the findings suggest a need to include emotional response in health communication theories and to incorporate visual communication theories in message design studies. Originality/value Research on health communication with underserved populations is limited, yet these populations have higher incidences of death and disability from disease. This paper fulfills a need to discover best health communication practices with underserved populations.

The writer applies Saussure's process of signification and Peirce's three sign mode to analyze the perceived meanings from the respondents. Based on the analysis, the writer discovers all respondents mainly use symbolic mode in producing messages which means the respondents interpret the data by relating it with their personal association. Nonetheless, Engineering Department's respondents use indexical mode more often than English Department's respondents in producing some meanings. Thus, the writer sees that English Department respondents mostly produce moral messages while Engineering Department respondents just mention the storyline. In conclusion, background knowledge indeed affects people to perceive meanings. Keywords: Process of Signification, Perceived Meaning, Verbal and Non-verbal Communication.

Abstract:
The Semiology of Emmanuel Macron's Gesture ABSTRACT: This work deals with the semiotic analysis of the semiology of gesture in the communications of French President Emmanuel Macron, particularly during the Yellow Vests movement or during the Covid 19 pandemic. The semiology of gesture is an approach that encompasses the functionings of verbal signs during an act of communication. Gesture becomes a language that complements verbal language. This study of gestural language addresses synergology and gestural grammar in discourse. The semiotic analysis of discourse now makes it possible to raise all the non-verbal discursive mechanisms such as the discourse of the hands, the gaze and the representation of the body which are fundamental in the speeches of the French president. It also highlights the link between rhetoric and gesture but the pragmatic dimension of gesture in Macron's speech.

This paper describes a study of team coordination and its breakdowns in a complex and dynamic work environment. Sixteen videotaped cases of real-life trauma patient resuscitation in a trauma center's patient admitting areas were analyzed. The findings from the study suggest that highly skilled work teams used a variety of ways to coordinate, many of which were non-verbal and implicit. Breakdowns in coordination occurred in several stressful situations, and the lack of explicit, verbal communications could be a major contributing factor. The paper characterizes the situations where coordination breakdowns were observed, and recommends that the team training be targeted at those situations where verbal communications are essential yet team coordination is prone to breakdowns.

Abstract:
The theatre practice of Heisnam Kanhailal and his cocreator of performance, Heisnam Sabitri is less of words, speeches and dialogues than found in conventional proscenium theatre. Both Kanhailal and Sabitri believe that theatre has a language of its own and that language is not necessarily a language of verbal communication. In their theatre, action is expressed more through body movements, physical gestures and sounds than through spoken words as they believe that non-verbal silent communication of a theatrical action or feeling is more powerful than the spoken ones. This unusual mode of theatrical narrative has helped Kanhailal to form a rhetoric of resistance against various forms of socio-political injustice that Manipur has historically gone through. The articulation of theatrical communication in his plays occurs happens more through silence, gestures, and sounds than through conventional verbal communications. He was creating in Manipur what his contemporary Pinter was creating in England, much at the same time, much in the same line, much with the same motif although with much difference in their context and artistic execution.

It is shown that in the minds of the administrative reform and the increasing the local self-government advancement role of the verbal communication on the basis of the information exchanged, direct to the management of the publication functions. It is confirmed that marketing techniques and tools are increasingly used by managers of non-manufacturing firms and companies, because they give government and municipal officials certain benefits in creating conditions for sustainable development and improving the quality of life, which is especially important during administrative reform, organization of united territorial communities, amalgamation of districts. It is believed that in the context of decentralization of territorial management tools of verbal communication, information exchange, presentation and legitimation of public administration will provide targeted management influence on potential consumers and the general public. It is shown that in order to support their actions on the part of society, managers and marketers have their own advertisements for goods and services, texts of TV and radio messages, posters and billboards, communicative public relations models, Internet advertising and others to combine as much as possible with goods and services of opposite value categories (social orientation), which are demonstrated with the communication use of certain verbal means. Thus, it is proved that the use of marketing communication approaches and tools in the public administration system, fixing them in relevant regulations and use the specialists of state and local governments at all levels in their activities is not only appropriate but necessary.

Abstract:
This paper discusses the role of communication in the process of market-oriented political modeling. Our theoretical framework benefits from the idea of Lees-Marshment’s model, there are three types of parties that can help meet voters’ needs: product-oriented party (POP), sales-oriented party (SOP) and market-oriented party (MOP). The focus here is MOP, which means developing political policies on the ground of voters’ needs to gain from the voter “market”. The MOP approach relies heavily on effective party-voter communication, before, during and after an election. Specifically, the communication aspect in the process of the MOP approach is discussed, which covers political marketing as a social or communication process in image-building and different approaches in such communication. Various communication modes in gathering voter information are compared in terms of advantages and disadvantages, especially in trust-building and two-way (both verbal and non-verbal) communications. Lastly, a section related to political canvassing is also presented.

Abstract:
Video games are a comprehensive, interactive media. Online games foster communication and extend the range of communication types considerably. We examine prevailing types of communication in video games using the browser-based advergame Fliplife. This game provides all a clear, delimited structure, an unpretentious user interface and the characteristics of a multiplayer online game. Thus Fliplife is an excellent frame to demonstrate the wide range of communication initiated in a video game. Among contained types of communication are verbal and non-verbal communications using graphics and actions/non-actions. Found communication typically serves controlling and coordination of the game play, however private discussions and social banter exist also besides demonstration of player status and community identification. In our work we draw on the basic definition of communication as conveying information from a sender to a recipient. We categorize the found types of communication according to an abstract model of communication derived from common definitions. The compiled enumeration of communication elements and possible manifestations represents a draft of categorization for communication in video games in general. Although it still needs extended validation, this enumeration demonstrates that video games provide frameworks which host and initiate a wide variety of communication. As a significant difference compared to other media, video games and their notion of interactivity allow players to communicate through action and to change roles of sender and receiver.

The article discusses issues related to socio-cultural manifestations of corporeality in the Circassian traditional society. The article presents cultural, philosophical and anthropological approaches on corporeality as a specific socio-cultural phenomenon. Particular attention is paid to proxemics and kinesics, that are used in the paper as theoretical basis of the study of the non-verbal communications in the Circassian's culture. The paper argues the need in a comprehensive study of sign and gesture systems as integral part of the Circassian ethos. Authors suggest a new philosophical and anthropological view on somatic culture as one of the most important subsystems of the traditional Circassian mentality. Objective ideas on the non-linguistic components of communication shed light on many specific features of the ethnocultural picture of the world of the Circassians. The authors focus on such spatial forms of structuring of social relations as social distance, personal space, hidden meanings of various types and forms of social distances. The paper justifies that the corporeality, in general, and the kinesic aspects of traditional upbringing, in particular, were of great importance in socialization of younger generations.

IntroductionBecause of their intrinsic characteristics, forensic interviews with terrorist suspects are perhaps one of the most challenging interviews forensic psychiatrists and psychologists will experience.ObjectivesThis work presents a theoretical and practical framework for understanding terrorist individual psychology and effective interviewing techniques. It will show how the psychopathology of the terrorist, as well as social factors, have to be integrated in the preparation of the interview and in the interviewing process itself.MethodsForty-eight incarcerated Middle Eastern terrorists (1 women and 47 men) have been interviewed. These terrorists were involved – directly or indirectly – in several attacks claimed by Al-Qaeda or ISIS. Verbal communications were evaluated through questions and key points related to personality disorders described in the DSM-V. Non-verbal communications were analyzed through modalities such as facial expressions, eye contact, and body gestures.ResultsSeveral verbal and nonverbal characteristics have been identified as common in all the interviewees.ConclusionsIn a way to improve the quality and the quantity of the information gathering, it is suggested, especially with terrorists (but not only), to based the investigative and forensic interviewing on a personality-focused approach. Further studies are also needed to evaluate if terrorists have specific communication skills. Finally, this work proves that indirect assessment, such as consulting records, interviewing partners, family members or friends, is very important in the terrorist forensic assessment.Disclosure of interestThe author has not supplied his/her declaration of competing interest.

Abstract:
The Italian Health Care System is changing drastically and is obliging the medical profession to do likewise in its outlook. Hospitals are nowadays organised like a business, with new departmental organisations being created and budgets to be managed. Doctors are obliged to acquire both managerial capacities and a more in-depth knowledge of human behaviour. A better understanding of doctor/patient and working team relations therefore becomes mandatory. A course on human communications was organised in our department to highlight the problems involved and to improve our professionalism. A first level course consisting of 6 two-and-a-half-hour meetings was attended by the medical and nursing staff. The topics were: communicative exchange in a health-care setting; the role of non-verbal communication in doctor/patient relationships; working team relationships; the burn-out syndrome. Twelve months later the results of this experience were checked by an interview/questionnaire. Our communicative behaviour has not been revolutionised, but awareness of some communication problems have, however, changed our attitude. The concepts which have been assimilated more readily are: good communication does not mean just being “kind” in a therapeutical setting, but of being able to understand the real problems, needs and expectations of patients as well as ensuring that they also understand what they are told, so that they follow prescriptions and the percentage of recoveries consequently improves; in effective communication, verbal and non-verbal information should not be in conflict; it is impossible not to communicate and any attempt not to do so is interpreted as a refusal; particular attention should be paid in working team relationships to dysfunctional communication and the emergence of burn-out syndromes.

Abstract:
For purpose of this paper the term Personnel Management will be used in its widest generic sense so as to include all the behavioral functions within the organisation. The basic function of personnel management (Human Resources Management) is to influence the behaviour of people at work in such a professional manner that it will realise performance objectives at an optimal level. Traditionally personnel practitioners concentrated primarily on the mechanistic inputs to realise these objectives. With the dramatic change of the South African Industrial complexion with its different races integrating the work place, it has now become imperative to focus more on the behavioral dimension of personnel management in order to influence the behaviour of people at work in a positive way. In this dominant role in the total spectrum of management activities in modern South African organisations, the personnel practitioner plays a vital communications role. This communication contribution is dominant not only in verbal categories but equally in the non-verbal categories of communications. The overall manpower mosaic, noted for a distorted manpower supply and demand situation, requires a sensitivity to manpower which is unprecedented in the history of South African Industry.

Gestures are necessary in cases where it is impossible to verbalize (for example, because of the language barrier and hearing problems). In addition, gestures are often used when verbal statements are considered socially inappropriate. It was analyzed which 6 main functions perform gestures. It was found out that the noncommunicational human systems of the person are subordinate, secondary systems. It is noted that non-verbal components are inherent in their regularities in the formation of the expression and transmission of information. The main directions of modern kinetic researches are indicated. Three large kinetic groups are considered: prequenics, microkinesics, macroconesisics. Nonverbal components are inherent in their regularities in the formation of the expression and transmission of information, which are now becoming the subject of research on the theory of communication.Principal methodological issues that cover the study of all types of kinesics (from gestures to pantomime), phonation (from speech to vocal art), proxemic (posture, position of communications), as well as communication with the participation of so-called situational text will create the opportunity to prevent communicative failures in the process of communication of representatives of different ethnic cultures.

Abstract:
Virtual environments represent a helpful resource for learning and training. In their multiuser modality, Collaborative Virtual Environments (CVE) support geographical distant people to experience collaborative learning and team training; a context in which the automatic monitor of collaboration can provide valuable and in time information, either for human instructors or intelligent tutor systems, about individual and group performance. CVE enable people to share a virtual space where they interact through a graphical representation, generating nonverbal behavior such as gaze-direction or deictic gestures, a potential means to understand collaboration. This paper presents an automated model and its inference mechanisms to evaluate collaboration in CVE based on the nonverbal activity of the participants. The model is a multi-layer analysis that includes: data filtering, fuzzy classification, and rule-based inference producing high-level assessment for group collaboration.

Abstract:
We emphasize that ‘dialogic space’ is a precondition to the presence and maintenance of collective culture whose most conspicuous dimension is dialogic culture. We assume that dialogic culture constitutes the fullest dimension of humanity, and we highlight its role in a number of assumptions (1-8). Next, dialogic culture in terms of its properties is briefly discussed. We further assume that dialogic space in its verbal-non-verbal tanglements is of central significance in foreign language pedagogy and as such it should be present in foreign teaching/learning programs in order to help promote the positively-charged dialogue-oriented society of practice and at the same time exclude the proliferation of negatively-charged communications.
