Abstract:
Model diagnostics for normal and non-normal state space models is based on recursive residuals which are defined from the one-step ahead predictive distribution. Routine calculation of these residuals is discussed in detail. Various tools of diagnostics are suggested to check e.g. for wrong observation distributions and for autocorrelation. The paper also covers such topics as model diagnostics for discrete time series, model diagnostics for generalized linear models, and model discrimination via Bayes factors. This thesis introduces normal factor graphs under a new semantics, namely, the exterior function semantics. Initially, this work was motivated by two distinct lines of research. One line is ``holographic algorithms,'' a powerful approach introduced by Valiant for solving various counting problems in computer science; the other is ``normal graphs,'' an elegant framework proposed by Forney for representing codes defined on graphs. The nonrestrictive normality constraint enables the notion of holographic transformations for normal factor graphs. We establish a theorem, called the generalized Ho

Here we consider a flexible class of both univariate and multivariate distributions, which allow adequate modeling of asymmetric data that have multimodality, heavy tails and outlying observations. This class has special cases such as skew-normal, skew-t, skew-slash and skew normal contaminated distributions, as well as symmetric cases. Initially, a model is proposed based on the assumption that the errors follow a finite mixture of scale mixture of skew-normal (FM-SMSN) distribution rat

Abstract:
Multivariate normal distribution is commonly encountered in any field, a frequent issue is the missing values in practice. The purpose of this research was to estimate the parameters in three-dimensional covariance permutation-symmetric normal distribution with complete data and all possible patterns of incomplete data. In this study, MLE with missing data were derived, and the properties of the MLE as well as the sampling distributions were obtained. A Monte Carlo simulation study was used to evaluate the performance of the considered estimators for both cases when ρ was known and unknown. Al

Abstract:
This thesis details the use of a series of cDNA libraries corresponding to several testis cell-types derived from juvenile mouse testes to investigate (i) the first wave of spermatogenesis in the wild-type mouse and four germ cell depleted mouse models where mutations have abrogated spermatogenesis at different points in the pathway (ii) mouse mutants with progressive deletions on the Y chromosome that perturb spermiogenesis (the final maturation stages of spermatogenesis). The gene expression patterns generated were validated by extensive comparison to existing data in the literature and the

Abstract:
Stochastic frontier analysis is an exciting method of economic production modeling that is relevant to hospitals, stock markets, manufacturing factories, and services. In this paper, we create a new model using the normal distribution and truncated skew-Laplace distribution, namely the normal-truncated skew-Laplace model. This is a generalized model of the normal-exponential case. Furthermore, we compute the true technical efficiency and estimated technical efficiency of the normal-truncated skewed-Laplace model. Also, we compare the technical efficiencies of normal-truncated skewed-Laplace mo
