Abstract:

Oochoristica noronhae n. sp. from the small intestines of Trachylepis atlantica Schmidt (Sauria: Scincidae) from Fernando de Noronha, Brazil is described and illustrated. Prevalence of infection was 81%, mean intensity 30. ± 1.8, range (1–7). Oochoristica noronhae n. sp. represents the 88th species assigned to the genus and the 14th species from the Neotropical region. Of the 14 Neotropical species, O. noronhae n. sp. is most similar to O. parvula and O. vanzolinii in that these three species have circular suckers and fewer than 30 testes per proglottid. These three species can be separated on the basis of number of lobules per ovarian lobe; in O. vanzolinii the ovarian lobe is entire, O. parvula has 3–5 lobules/lobe, O. noronhae has 8–10 lobules/lobe. In addition to O. noronhae n. sp., two species of Nematoda, Moaciria alvarengai Freitas and Spinicauda spinicauda (Heterakidae), one species of Pentastomida, Raillietiella freitasi (Cephalobaenidae) and an undetermined species of Acanthocephala, as a cystacanth, were found.

Abstract:

Este trabalho busca mostrar aspectos do desenvolvimento do Laboratório de Currículos (LC), sobre a perspectiva de Diva Noronha, uma das precursoras na formação de professores para os anos iniciais, durante a reformulação curricular de matemática a partir da década de 1970. O texto é guiado pelas seguintes questões norteadoras: De que maneira Noronha colaborou para a produção de saberes profissionais docentes para os professores das séries iniciais no LC do Estado do Rio de Janeiro? Que contextos de sustentação possibilitaram as propostas de Noronha? Quais as propostas gerais de Noronha? O estudo adota como referencial teórico-metodológico os conceitos de: expert, matemática para/a ensinar. Analisamos também, o período antecessor a aplicação do LC segundo noticiários da época. Assim, as primeiras considerações nos permite caracterizar Noronha uma possível expert para a formação de professores das séries iniciais a partir de sua tese e o relato de experiência, concedido ao grupo GHEMAT- Brasil.

Abstract:

A constatação de que a sobrevivência humana depende da conservação do meio ambiente fez surgir a consciência de que era preciso preservá-lo. Uma das ferramentas utilizada para atingir este objetivo foi a instituição do Sistema Nacional de Unidades de Conservação. O Arquipélago de Fernando de Noronha possui beleza paisagística singular e uma variedade de formas de vida marinha e terrestre, que justifica a existência de duas Unidades de Conservação em seu território: a Área de Proteção Ambiental (APA) de Fernando de Noronha e o Parque Nacional Marinho (PARNAMAR) de Fernando de Noronha. Restringindo o acesso, orientando a ocupação e o uso dos recursos naturais, as Unidades de Conservação existentes em Fernando de Noronha tem contribuído para garantir a conservação do meio ambiente naquele território para as presentes e futuras gerações.

Abstract:

Lizards rarely visit and pollinate flowers, the few recent records being mostly restricted to island habitats. We report here on the Noronha skink (Euprepis atlanticus) seeking nectar in the flowers of the leguminous mulungu tree (Erythrina velutina) at Fernando de Noronha Archipelago, off northeast Brazil. The mulungu tree blooms during the dry season, and each flower secretes copious and diluted nectar throughout the day. The Noronha skink climbs up to the inflorescences and laps the nectar accumulated in the flowers' base. While exploiting the flowers and crawling over the inflorescences, the body parts of the skink contact the anthers and stigmas and pollen adheres to the lizard's scales. The lizard visits inflorescences from the same and different trees, which renders it a potential pollinator. As the mulungu tree blooms during the dry season and the island has little or no natural freshwater supply during drought periods, we suggest that the Noronha skink seeks flower nectar both for its energetic, diluted sugars and the water content.

The new genus Matagaia is proposed to include the newly described M. chromatopus sp. nov. from Fernando de Noronha Archipelago, state of Pernambuco, Brazil. In addition, Corythalia insularis sp. nov. and Neonella noronha sp. nov. are also described from this locality. The synanthropic Hasarius adansoni (Audouin, 1826) and Menemerus bivittatus (Dufour, 1831) are also recorded from the Archipelago.

Abstract:

En el presente artículo se arroja nueva luz sobre el Advertimiento que el obispo Andrés de Noronha envió a Mateo Vázquez, secretario de Felipe II, en 1584, texto que ha sido presentado por algún historiador como una evidencia muy temprana de la circulación de la famosa correspondencia apócrifa entre los judíos de España y los de Constantinopla. Examinamos el Advertimiento situándolo en su contexto gracias al estudio de la correspondencia que Noronha mantuvo Vázquez. Y, finalmente, analizamos el documento a partir de su comparación con el memorial –hasta hoy inédito– que el clérigo Felipe Botello entregó al inquisidor Martín de Salvatierra en 1569. Mediante este análisis demostraremos que prácticamente todo lo que Noronha decía en su documento es falso, producto de la tergiversación del memorial de Botello.

Este trabalho identifica e fornece a distribuição do gênero Caulerpa na costa de Pernambuco (07º30' S e 09º00' W) e no Arquipélago de Fernando de Noronha (03º51' S e 32º25' W). As coletas foram realizadas em 32 praias da costa de Pernambuco no período entre abril/2004 a novembro/2005, na região entre-marés. Em Fernando de Noronha as coletas foram feitas em junho/2006, na região entre marés e no infralitoral (10, 15 e 21 m de profundidade), em oito praias. Foram, também, analisadas as exsicatas de Caulerpa depositadas no Herbário Professor Vasconcelos Sobrinho (PEUFR) da Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco. Os resultados mostram que o gênero Caulerpa está representado na costa de Pernambuco, por 19 táxons infragenéricos. Algumas espécies apresentaram distribuição restrita como C. kempfii Joly & Pereira, C. lanuginosa J. Agardh e C. serrulata (Forssk.) J. Agardh. Para o Arquipélago de Fernando de Noronha foram registrados três táxons infragenéricos.

Abstract:

Crude extracts of the brown seaweed Dictyota mertensii (Martius) Kützing collected at two distant and different places on the Brazilian coast, Búzios (Rio de Janeiro) and Fernando de Noronha (PE), were evaluated for defensive chemistry against the crab Pachygrapsus transversus, and the sea urchin Lytechinus variegatus. The extract from Búzios specimens of D. mertensii significantly inhibited the consumption by both P. transversus and L. varigetaus. Fractionation of the extracts of specimens of D. mertensii from Búzios and F. de Noronha followed by complementary assays revealed one active fraction from each location, which contained distinct defensive secondary metabolites. In each active fractions prenylated guaiane diterpenes were the major compounds. Dictyol H and epoxypachydictyol A were the most abundant compounds in Búzios and F. de Noronha, respectively, followed by minor components. Our results show a differential production of secondary metabolites in the two distant and different populations of D. mertensii along the Brazilian coast. This suggests that defensive chemicals from this seaweed are not qualitatively absolute characteristics of the species, but may represent an ecological specialization to successfully prevent herbivory.

Abstract:

O projeto TAMAR é uma iniciativa pioneira no Brasil na conservação das tartarugas marinhas, e em 1984 se instalou em Fernando de Noronha (PE) buscando protegê-las. Com base na premissa da melhoria de serviços prestados, desenvolveu-se uma pesquisa buscando conhecer a opinião dos entrevistados quanto aos aspectos da interpretação e os serviços prestados pelo Centro de Visitantes (CV) do Projeto Tamar/ICMBio em Fernando de Noronha. Para isso, utilizou-se a pesquisa descritiva e observação in loco, e como aporte teórico a pesquisa bibliográfica. Foram entrevistados visitantes no CV e uma das principais constatações foi a de que 80% dos entrevistados ainda preferem uma palestra tradicional a um vídeo em 3D. Com base nesse resultado, conclui-se que os turistas desejam novas tecnologias, no entanto não abrem mão da interpretaçãoambiental personalizada, realizada por meio das palestras. Descobrir o limite que tange o uso de tecnologias e a ausência de interpretes é um dos maiores desafios atuais dos museus e centros de visitantes.Palavras-chave: Projeto Tamar. Fernando de Noronha. Abstract:

O turismo é uma invenção humana repleta de propósitos e ideologias. Por isso mesmo, o espaço turístico não deve ser assumido enquanto algo natural. Pelo contrário, deve ser questionado em sua essência, de modo a identificar as intenções por trás de sua produção. Este estudo analisa o processo de turistificação de Fernando de Noronha (um dos destinos mais conhecidos e desejados do país) entre os anos de 1960 e 2017. Metodologicamente, este estudo se caracteriza como uma pesquisa descritiva, de natureza qualitativa, realizada a partir de pesquisas bibliográficas e documentais e entrevistas. A análise do processo de turistificação de Fernando de Noronha identificou que, ao longo da sua história e independentemente da gestão que esteve à frente do arquipélago, o espaço insular sempre foi pensado para cumprir o papel de um destino de luxo. Essa tendência, aliás, permanece até os dias de hoje. Constatou-se que essa lógica tem sido responsável pela migração de diversos ilhéus e pela desestruturação do tecido social local. Abstract:

The archipelago of Fernando de Noronha is divided into a National Marine Park, intended for the protection of natural resources and an Environmental Protection Area, where human occupation is permitted. Tourist use has caused changes in the island lifestyle, mainly in relation to economic activities and contact with nature. Thus, the present study aimed to analyze the local knowledge and eating habits of the people of Noronha, their preferences and aversions regarding the consumption of fish in the Archipelago of Fernando de Noronha/PE. Data collection was carried out through individual interviews using a script and these were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. It was found, in the research carried out with 81 interviewees, that the preferred fish for consumption are black syrup (Caranx lugubris), piraúna (Cepholopholis fulva), yellowfin (Thunnus albacares), barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda), anchovy (Pomatomus saltatrix), red snapper (Lutjanus spp.) and mackerel (Acantocybium solandri). The relationship between popular knowledge and consumed food resources indicates an important contribution to regional and local conservation initiatives, which are essential to reduce environmental degradation, loss of biodiversity and socioeconomic consequences for local communities. Aversion to reymosed fish was confirmed, such as cangulo (Melichthys niger) and barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda), corroborating with the knowledge found in the literature. Thus, the use of fish in the diet of the residents of Fernando de Noronha showed patterns already indicated in research with other fishing communities where preference, taboos and medicinal use are the main purposes and indicate the knowledge they have about the environment and the available resources

A partir de coletas realizadas em julho de 1986, nas zonas supralitoral, mesolitoral e infralitoral, o presente trabalho apresenta a listagem das 106 espécies identificadas, sendo 33 Chlorophyceae, 22 Phaeophyceae e 51 Rhodophyceae, e sua distribuição ao longo de 11 pontos de coleta selecionados do lado noroeste da Ilha de Fernando de Noronha e da Ilha Rata. Dentre as espécies citadas, 25 são referências novas para a região. Comentários s3o feitos a respeito dos grupos de interesse taxonômico e ecológico.

Abstract:

Here we describe two new species in the genus Branchiosyllis Ehlers, 1887 associated with sponges. Branchiosyllis belchiori sp. nov. was found in Todos os Santos Bay, state of Bahia, and in the Fernando de Noronha Island (Northeastern Brazil), and Branchiosyllis gonzaguinhai sp. nov. was found in the Fernando de Noronha Island and Rocas Atoll. We compare the species herein described with their morphologically most similar congeners and provide a synoptic table of the morphological variation among the type-series of the two new species. An identification key for the species of Branchiosyllis recorded in Brazil is also provided.

Abstract:

A partir da leitura da obra Os sete gatinhos, de Nelson Rodrigues, analisam-se as inter-relações das representações sociais da família Noronha com o respaldo da Teoria das Representações Sociais, proposta por Serge Moscovici, Denise Jodelet e Sandra Jovchelovitch. Para tanto, discutem-se as interações entre os personagens da peça, principalmente a relação de poder que ‘Seu’ Noronha exerce sobre as mulheres da família, esposa e cinco filhas. Verifica-se que a família Noronha faz uso das representações sociais como um conjunto de conceitos, afirmações e explicações que se originam nas relações cotidianas: o pai coordena os comportamentos e as relações de toda a família em uma visão de mundo baseada na superstição religiosa, e é por meio dessa religiosidade que a família interpreta a realidade. Chega-se à conclusão de que a teoria das representações sociais possibilita a compreensão de como se formam e como funcionam os sistemas de referência utilizados para categorizar pessoas e grupos, além de interpretar os acontecimentos da realidade cotidiana. Observa-se que essa obra de Rodrigues faz uma crítica social aos costumes e valores sociais de sua época, a década de 1950.

Abstract This article analyzes the role of Diu in the reconfiguration of the Northern Province during the 1550s by focusing on the career of D. Diogo de Noronha, whose role in the consolidation of the Portuguese presence in Diu has received little attention. After defeating the Abyssinian forces of the lord of Diu and seizing over half of the custom house revenue of the city from the Gujarati sultan, Noronha ensured a safer position for Diu and also contributed to the creation of the Northern Province in the late 1550s. What was the true role played by Diu after the difficult sieges of 1538 and 1546, when the Ottoman naval defeat of 1554 renewed the project of expansion to the North? What was the importance of Noronha in that project and how did he influence the spheres of decision in both Asia and Portugal? How did he leverage the struggles within the Gujarati court to achieve his goals? Abstract:

The genus Hyperaulax Pilsbry, 1897 comprises two living species endemic to the oceanic Fernando de Noronha Archipelago, off north-eastern Brazil. They are currently allocated in two subgenera, Hyperaulax s. str. and Bonnanius Jousseaume, 1900, belonging to the family Odontostomidae. Herein we present a taxonomic revision of these species, assessing their familiar allocation within Orthalicoidea, offering updated diagnoses and descriptions, figuring the type materials and further relevant specimens, and providing barcoding DNA sequences. We conclude that Bonnanius is a junior synonym of Hyperaulax, which is classified in Odontostomidae. The genus contains two valid species, H. ridleyi and H. ramagei, both endemic to Fernando de Noronha.

A pesquisa é de caráter qualitativo, entre as técnicas de coleta de dados está a entrevista semiestruturada. Sugerem-se três panoramas para fortalecer a EA na Ilha: formação continuada de educadores ambientais e tomadores de decisão; formação de educadores locais; e construção de políticas públicas na área. In the present article dialogues about school, Enviromental Education and institutional relations in Fernando de Noronha from the narrative of interviewed in the archipelog. The research has a qualitative character, amongst the data collect technics is the semi structured interview. Its suggested that three panoramas strengthen the EE in the island: Continued formation of local enviromental educators and decision makers; formation of local educators; and construction of public politics in the area. En el presente artículo se dialoga sobre escuela, Educación Ambiental (EA) y relaciones institucionales en Fernando de Noronha a partir de narrativas de entrevistados en el Archipiélago. La investigación es de carácter cualitativo, entre las técnicas de recolección de datos está la entrevista semiestructurada. Em 1984 o Projeto TAMAR criou uma base em Fernando de Noronha, arquipélago com grande fluxo turístico, onde realiza atividades de conservação, pesquisa científica e educação ambiental em função da preservação das espécies de tartarugas marinhas que ocorrem no Brasil. No Centro de Visitantes do Projeto TAMAR em Fernando de Noronha há um Livro de Sugestões/Reclamações, onde os visitantes podem deixar a sua opinião sobre aspectos gerais da ilha. O objetivo foi verificar, nos 96 comentários deixados em 2016 no Livro de Sugestões/Reclamações, a percepção do visitante e o que pode ser melhorado no Arquipélago, além de classificar os comentários, de forma que possam ser direcionados para as devidas instituições. Como resultados observou-se que podem ser melhorados aspectos referentes à infraestrutura, às prestações de serviços e ao turismo sustentável.

Abstract:

Hyphenated techniques of gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometer were used to determine fatty acids in eleven species of seaweeds from Fernando de Noronha archipelago. The main compounds detected in all studied species were the alcohol phytol and the fatty acids 14 : 0; 15 : 0; 16 : 0; 18 : 0; 18 : 1 n9; 18 : 2 Δ9,12; 20 : 4; 20 : 5. These fatty acids are commonly found in seaweeds present in warm regions. Thus, we found no specificity in the presence of a particular set of fatty acids and the studied species indicating that they are not useful as taxonomic indicators. However, they could be used in a comparative study with algae found in polluted area because many of the studied seaweeds are widespread and Fernando de Noronha has low human influence.

Abstract Objectives: to analyze how the disseminationof COVID-19 occurred in the cities of Pernambuco State, Northeast in Brazil. Methods: descriptive, exploratory and quantitative study whose units of analysis were the 184 cities and Fernando de Noronha Archipelago which constitutes the state of Pernambuco. Geoprocessing techniques used QGis 3.14.16 and were presented in figures. Results: the first city to register a case of COVID-19 was Recife, in 129 days there were already confirmed cases of the disease in all the cities in the state and including Fernando de Noronha Archipelago. Only 117 cities informed the patients’ sexin public reports since the first case and only 88 cities mentioned the patients ’ age. Conclusion: there was a fast spread of COVID-19 in the state of Pernambuco, showing the inability of the Health Surveillance services to control the transmission, especially in smalltowns.

Abstract:

O padrão anual de fenologia da frutificação de 23 espécies arbóreas e arbustivas nativas de Fernando de Noronha, PE, Brasil foi caracterizado com o objetivo de orientar a coleta de sementes, de maneira a guiar a implantação de um programa local de restauração. Verificou-se que a maioria das espécies (74%) obteve maiores frequências absolutas de frutificação durante a época de chuvas (janeiro a julho) e 26% durante a época seca, sendo que a frutificação das espécies durou, em média, um mês e meio. O índice de correlação de Spearman apontou uma correlação positiva mediana entre as fenofases estudadas e a precipitação. Os estudos de fenologia da frutificação são estratégicos para o planejamento da coleta de sementes e produção de mudas para a restauração, especialmente onde o processo de Restauração Ecológica está se iniciando e ainda carece de informações, como é o caso de Fernando de Noronha.

Abstract:

The present work described helminth parasites of curimbatá, Prochilodus lineatus Valenciennes, 1836 from Volta Grande Reservoir, MG, Brazil. Eighteen fishes with average 46.7 ± 1.1 cm length and 1,674.8 ± 75.6 g weight were collected. Of the analysed fishes, 15 were parasitized with acanthocephalans in the intestine, showing a prevalence of 83.3%. The helminth was identified as Neoechinorhynchus curemai Noronha, 1973 (Acanthocephala: Neoechinorhynchidae). It differs from other species in dimension of characters and morphology. From the original description of N. curemai, it differs from the biggest dimension of testis, elongated cement gland, nucleated lemnisci, eggs size, larger proboscis hooks length in the middle and in the third circle in males and larger hooks in the anterior circle in females. A smaller percentage occupied by the reproductive system in female trunk was reported. The observation of paratypes of N. curemai of Noronha (1973) showed a great similarity with those of the present work. This fact complements the helminth description from elsewhere.

We compiled the records for the genus Salvatoria from Brazilian coastal and oceanic habitats, collected by several projects along the years. Here we present 12 species, eight of which already reported–S. breviarticulata comb. nov., S. clavata, S. euritmica, S. heterocirra, S. limbata, S. longiarticulata comb. nov., S. neapolitana and S. cf. nitidula–with comments regarding the confidence of some of these records. We also describe three new species, S. marielleae n. sp. and Salvatoria nitiduloides n. sp., based on material from Fernando de Noronha and Trindade islands, off the Northeastern Brazilian coast, and S. ypsiloides n. sp., from Fernando de Noronha and also, Campos Basin, off Southeastern Brazilian coast, in depths down to 970 m. Finally, we report a probably undescribed species, Salvatoria sp., represented by only one specimen lacking median antenna, preventing us to proceed with further identification properly. A dichotomous identification key and a comparative table with morphological data of specimens belonging to these species are also provided.

Acyrtus pauciradiatus, new species, is described on the basis of three specimens collected at Fernando de Noronha Archipelago, state of Pernambuco, Brazil. It differs from its congeners by having a reduced number of rays in the pectoral, dorsal, and anal fins and is more isolated geographically, than any other species in the genus.
