Abstract:
Balami sheep is the largest indiginous breeds of sheep in Nigeria with a mature ewe weight of 43kg. The performance of this breed was studied using 454 lambing records of 142 ewes during a 6-year period. Lambing occurred throughout the year with a peak during the wet season. First lambing was at 18 months of age and subsequent lambing occurred at approximately 9 months intervals. Mean litter size increased from 1.02 at first lambing to 1.6 at 54 months years of age. Lambing interval was shorter by 50 days for lambing in the wet than in the dry season. Lamb mortality to 10 weeks of age was about 43%. Lambs born during the wet season those from primiparous ewes and twins had low survival rates. Mean birth weight was 3.3kg and weights at 4 and 10 weeks of age were 7.4 and 12.1kg respectively. Type of birth, age of dam and sex had significant effects on weights at all ages. Productivity of ewes estimated as weight of weaned lamb per kg metabolic weight per annum increased with the age of the ewe to about 55 months of age. Repeatability of litter size, lambing interval, birth and 10 weeks were 0.087, 0.091, 0.052 and 0.273 respectively.

Abstract:
Abstract: The study titled suitability of Office Technology and Management Graduates as perceived by employers of labour in polytechnics within the North Eastern Nigeria was conducted to determine the suitability of Office Technology and Management graduates in today’s office. The study was necessary in order to find out the perception of employers of labour on how suitable OTM graduates are in today’s office. Two research questions and one null hypothesis guided the study. Descriptive survey research design was adopted. The population of the study was 330 employers of labour from polytechnics within north eastern Nigeria. 20 items structured questionnaire on a 4-point rating scale was used to draw data from respondents. The questionnaire was validated by three experts. Cronbach alpha reliability was used to test the reliability of the instrument and the coefficient was 0.89 showing that the instrument was highly reliable. The instrument was administered by the researchers and research assistants. Total number of 353 questionnaires were distributed, while 330 were retrieved constituting about 94% of the distributed questionnaires. Mean and Standard deviation were used to answer the research questions and t-test was used to test the null hypothesis, at 0.05 level of significance. The findings of the study revealed among others that employers of labour perceived that OTM graduates with sub-listed cognitive skills were suitable for today’s world of work and these skills are what make OTM graduates to really display the real image of the organization. There was no significant difference in the opinions of more experienced and less experienced employers of labour and the opinions of employers of labour from federal polytechnics and their counterparts from the state polytechnics in North Eastern Nigeria, therefore the null hypothesis was accepted because the null hypothesis t-cals was less than t-table values. It was recommended among others that employers of labour in polytechnics within North Eastern Nigeria should list out suitable skills they perceived suitable for OTM graduates. If this is done, OTM graduates in polytechnics within North Eastern Nigeria will work towards that and thus be ready to cope with the routine office tasks. Keywords: Suitability, Employers of Labour, Polytechnics, North-Eastern Nigeria, OTM Graaduates Title: SUITABILITY OF OFFICE TECHNOLOGY AND MANAGEMENT GRADUATES AS PECEIVED BY EMPLOYERS OF LABOUR IN POLYTECHNICS WITHIN NORTH EASTERN NIGERIA Author: ODESANYA TEMITOPE ALABA, DR FRANK OKORO International Journal of Social Science and Humanities Research ISSN 2348-3156 (Print), ISSN 2348-3164 (online) Vol. 11, Issue 2, April 2023 - June 2023 Page No: 225-233 Research Publish Journals Website: www.researchpublish.com Published Date: 15-May-2023 DOI: https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.7936252 Paper Download Link (Source) https://www.researchpublish.com/papers/suitability-of-office-technology-and-management-graduates-as-peceived-by-employers-of-labour-in-polytechnics-within-north-eastern-nigeria

Abstract:
The Boko Haram insurgency has lately introduced a terrorist dimension into the crime space in Nigeria. The trademarks of the Boko Haram are wanton destruction of lives and property with reckless abandon, through bombings, abduction and slaughtering of human beings like rams, especially in Northern Nigeria. This has created palpable fear and sense of insecurity in the polity. It is a fact that the development of any country in the world is dependent on many factors, which may fast-track or retards its growth, among which security is central. Security of lives and property plays a major role in the development of any country, as investors in any economy want to be assured of the safety of their investments. The Boko Haram attacks have led to the direct exposure of children to unimaginable violence; horrors, bombing, killings, hardship, kidnapping, diseases, and family displacement. The general objective of this study is to examine the psychotherapy, insurgency and insecurity in Nigeria. This study employs qualitative research method in which analytic approach was used to address the research questions raised. The phenomenon of insurgency in Nigeria which subsequently led to the mass population displacement in the country is no doubt unconnected to the fragile nature of state and state institutions. Theoretically, it is proven in this paper that fragile nature of Nigerian state which failed to carry out its constitutional responsibilities of providing security and welfare to citizens was largely responsible for insurgency. Special rehabilitation and trauma centres should be established, especially for women and children who have had horrible experiences during the insurgency period. Traumaexposed individuals should be given special psychological debriefing treatment to prevent and contain possible post-traumatic stress and disorder (PSTD).Porous border controls should be intensified with intelligence gathering technologies in order to halt weapons and track illegal border movements and obscured border to halt weapons and track illegal border movements and obscured border crossings through collaborative efforts of regional border security personnel.

Abstract:
This study focused on career aspirations as predictor of academic achievement among learners with hearing impairment in special schools in North eastern Nigeria. Correlation research design was adopted for the study. Total 351 learners with hearing impairment in Senior Secondary Two (SS II) was selected based on multistage sampling technique across five special schools in North Eastern Nigeria. The instruments for data collection are Learners’ Career Aspiration Questionnaire (LCAQ), and English Language Pro forma (ELP). Data gathered from the respondents were analyzed using Pearson product moment correlation and Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) at a 0.05 alpha level. The study found a strong relationship between career aspiration and academic achievement of learners with hearing impairment in English language in North Eastern, Nigeria. However, gender did not correlate with career aspiration of students with hearing impairment toward their academic achievement. The study concludes that career aspiration can independently enhance students’ academic performance. The study recommends among others that teachers should work toward boosting career aspiration of their students through constructive teaching approach that will make education look achievable and admirable to them.

Abstract:
This study investigated material resources as predictors of graduates’ academic quality in Educational Management Programme in Universities in North Eastern Nigeria. The study adopted predictive survey research design. Three research questions and three hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The target population of the study is 766 respondents in public universities offering Educational Management (EDM) Programme in North Eastern Nigeria. The sample of the study was 383 respondents (i.e., 28 staff and 355 undergraduates) which were selected using multistage sampling technique. Two instruments titled: “Material Resource Management Questionnaire (MRMQ)” and a proforma on Educational Management Graduates’ CGPA were used for data collection. The instruments were validated and pilot tested with Cronbach’s Alpha statistic showing a reliability co-efficient of 0.85. The data collected were analysed using mean and standard deviation to answer the research questions; while regression analysis is used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The findings showed that: physical facilities [F (1, 150) = 331.09, p < 0.05] and library resources [F (1, 150) = 106.28, p < 0.05] significantly predict graduates’ academic quality in Educational Management Programme in Universities in North Eastern Nigeria. Hence, the study concludes that material resource management significantly predicts graduates’ academic quality within Educational Management Programme in Universities in North Eastern Nigeria. The study recommended among others that government and respective funding agencies such as TETFUND should allocate funds for upgrading and maintaining physical facilities such as classrooms, laboratories, and libraries to create conducive learning environments that support academic excellence.

Abstract:
The various categories of moral evil associated with some contemporary extremists' religious ideologies have continued to raise fundamental questions about the purpose of religion in human life the world over. In Nigeria, the Northeastern region has recorded the worst form of moral evil in recent years due to religious extremism. Therefore, this essay explored the phenomenon of religious extremism to underscore how it has occasioned large-scale moral evil in North-eastern Nigeria. Data were obtained from existing literature, media reports and observation of the contemporary religious situation in the Northeastern region. Historical, content, critical and constructive methods of analysis were utilized for data interpretation. Two major religious extremist sects (Boko Haram and ISWAP) are largely responsible for most of the moral evil in north-eastern Nigeria. These two extremist groups have continued to abduct, dehumanize, displace and kill innocent people across the northeastern region in the name of God. This paper submits that religious extremists should eschew violent extremism and embrace the philosophy of peace, love and tolerance in the practice of their religious beliefs for the common good of all.
