The poorly known Late Cambrian (Steptoean; Furongian) genus Pseudokingstonia Palmer is revised using new material from the type area in west-central Utah. Previously undocumented features of pygidial morphology, including patterns of segmentation of the axis and pleural fields, and articulating flanges on the anterior margin, confirm that the genus is closely related to the dameselloidean Cheilocephalus Berkey and that together they constitute the family Cheilocephalidae Shaw. Abstract The Burgan reservoir is located in North Kuwait was discovered in 1957. First commercial oil production from this multistack sandstone reservoir started back in 1964. Operating under active bottom water drive as well as edge water drive. The primary reservoir in the field is Burgan of Lower Cretaceous age, which contributes the major oil production of the fields. Burgan reservoir is the second largest reservoir in terms of STOOIP and reserves, producing 30% of daily oil production. Significant amount of historical production came from the lower part of the reservoir where the pattern

This success has proven to be a driver for the rest of the world to attempt to emulate the game-changing results found in the industry. As a consequence, improved horizontal drilling and hydraulic completion technology are currently being disseminated to the rest of the world, where operators are seeking to replicate the North American success in tight reservoirs and shale plays of interest. Abstract Artesian flow presents a challenge in northern Oman and requires immediate action to resolve. Uncontrolled surface water flow poses potential environmental risks and significant hazards with severe consequences. The solution is to design a resilient cement system that can counteract the water flow, react quickly to stop it, and then allow continued well operations. The design and execution of a tailored cement technique successfully applied in Oman is discussed. In northern Oman, certain gas fields experience artesian water flow in the tophole sections, typically encountered during th

North Dakota's renewable energy system is impacted by its harsh winters. Geologic aquifer thermal aquifer storage system is a large scale geothermal system that can act as energy storage media. Aquifer thermal storage systems are dependent on heat conductivity of rocks, storage capacity of aquifer, fluid flow, geochemistry and geo-mechanics. The goals of the project are to 1) evaluate the amount of energy that can be stored in deep aquifers; 2)

ABSTRACT: The present study is part of the Bifrost project and aims at assessing the feasibility of storing CO2 in chalk reservoirs by using the depleted Harald East gas field located in the northern part of the Danish North Sea as a showcase. Chalk is a singular rock with a high compressibility and the resulting pronounced compaction during hydrocarbon exploitation and possibly during CO2 storage raises questions on the integrity of cement surrounding the legacy, monitoring, and injector wells. In this context, the study carries out a well stability analysis of a well present in the field. Th

The Queensland fruit fly (Bactrocera tryoni) is a significant horticultural pest in Australia, and has also established in other parts of the Pacific. There is a significant risk to New Zealand of invasion by this species, and several recent incursions have occurred. The potential effects of climate change on the distribution and impacts of invasive species are well known. This paper uses species distribution modelling using Maxent to predict the suitability of New Zealand to the Queensland fruit fly based on known occurrences worldwide and Bioclim climatic layers. There is a large literature on the role infrastructure plays in economic development, but few papers document the effect of infrastructure on the sustainability of natural resources. We examine the effect of the arrival of two new national highways on ground water levels in a small agricultural county in the North China Plain - a region that produces most of the nation’s food grains. We first develop a conceptual framework to show that farmers located closer to the highways devote more acreage to crops that are water intensive. The emerald ash borer (EAB), Agrilus planipennis, is a highly destructive pest native to Asia, first detected in North America in 2002 and in European Russia in 2003. EAB has caused extensive damage to ash trees in North America and Europe, leading to severe ecological and economic consequences. To combat this pest, several hymenopteran parasitoids from the native range of EAB were imported to the USA and Canada for biological control. Key parasitoids include Tetrastichus planipennisi, Spathius galinae and Oobius agrili, which have established in many areas and shown significant success in red
