Abstract:
The article is dedicated to a poorly studied topic in ethnology: agricultural practices in small towns. For a number of reasons attention is paid to settlements of northeastern Ukraine, namely Chernihiv and Sumy regions. The phenomenon of household activities of people residing in urban areas in their ordinary everyday lives as well as in the realities of war is described in a new way, basing on historiography, various sources, and especially on field heuristics. The study of the research subject and the fulfilling of the objectives are carried out in the chronological framework of today, but

Purpose. To determine the efficiency of sunflower (Helianthus annuus) cultivation in the northeastern regions of Ukraine. Methods. Field studies were conducted in 2020–2024 in the Left-Bank Forest Steppe of Ukraine, at the border of two soil-climatic zones: the Forest Steppe and Polissia. Results. The average yield indicators of sunflower in the northeastern regions of Ukraine show that this crop is steadily gaining popularity among producers. On average, across the three regions, the annual crop yield exceeds the indicators obtained across the country. In particular, in 2020, a yield increase

Aim. To determine the adaptability of modern winter bread wheat varieties by homeostaticity and breeding value of their yields in the northeastern forest-steppe of Ukraine. Results and Discussion. The adaptability of modern winter bread wheat varieties was determined by homeostaticity and breeding value of their yields in the northeastern forest-steppe of Ukraine. It was found that, in mid-tall genotypes, homeostaticity (Hom) ranged 22.6 to 84.5 with a higher breeding value (Sc = 3.49–6.32) compared to semi-dwarf accessions (Hom = 18.9–56, 3 and Sc = 3.16–4.99, respectively). Background. During 2019‒2021, from the first decade of March to the third decade of July on the territory of northeastern Ukraine, ornithological studies on hollow-nesting birds populating artificial nestings were carried out. It is common knowledge, that in urban landscapes, the presence of wildlife is limited. Among the many different measures aimed at increasing the number of different groups of animals in urbanized areas, artificial nesting is the main solution for the reproduction and conservation of the population. Abstract:
The Globalization of Rural Plays in the Twenty-First Century excavates the neglected ideological substratum of peasant folk plays. By focusing on northeastern Romania and southwest Ukraine—two of the most ruralized regions in Europe—this work reveals the complex landscape of peasant plays and the essential role they perform in shaping local culture, economy, and social life. The rapid demise of these practices and the creation of preservation programs is analyzed in the context of the corrosive effects of global capitalism and the processes of globalization, urbanization, mass-mediatization, a

Attacks took place in more than 400 communities in this northeastern province of the Habsburg Monarchy, now divided between Poland and Ukraine. Jewish-owned homes and businesses were ransacked and looted, and Jews were assaulted, threatened, and humiliated, though not killed. Emperor Franz Joseph signed off on a state of emergency in thirty-three counties and declared martial law in two.
