Abstract:
Parmelia submontana is quite a rare epiphytic lichen in both Poland and central Europe. In Poland, it grows mainly in the mountains and in the northern part of the country. We found eight new localities of P. submontana, in northern and southwestern Poland. We report it here as a new species for Wigry National Park. Distribution of the species in Poland is presented on the map.

The frequencies of occurrence of patterns in five fields of the sub-toe area of soles in 1,600 men and 1,600 women from 15 voivodships of northern Poland were demonstrated. The bilateral and intersexual differences were examined and the obtained results compared with the pattern frequencies in the population from central and south-eastern Poland.

Abstract:
A nymph of cricket Modicogryllus frontalis was found near Czołpino (northern Poland) on sandy dunes close to the Baltic coast. It is the northernmost locality of the species in Poland and in Europe and the first record from the Baltic Coast. The distribution of the species in Central Europe is summarized and presented on the map.

Abstract:
New localities of Rinodina degeliana in Poland are described. The morphology, chemistry, distribution and ecology of the species are discussed and characters that help to differentiate R. degaliana from similar lichens are presented. The species is relatively frequent in lime-hornbeam forests of northern and central Poland.

Abstract:
This study of digger wasps (Hymenoptera: Spheciformes) was carried out in the cultural landscape of the Drwęca, Lower Vistula, and Warta river valleys in northern Poland during 2011–2013. The study was undertaken on sites representing a succession gradient from dry grasslands to high levels of tree cover which we hypothesised would influence the structure of digger wasp communities. During our research additional information on flower use, insect prey, and phenology was also recorded and is reported here, revealing dependencies between woodland cover and both the prey and nesting types of digg

Abstract:
Atheta strandiella is recorded in four localities in northern Poland including two Baltic raised bogs, another record comes from the south of the country, from a montane bog. The occurrence of A. strandiella in Poland is not surprising, as the species was already recorded from neighboring countries, including Belarus, Czechia, and Germany. Numerous findings of A. strandiella in different mires of Poland, including the Baltic and montane raised bogs, show our limited and insufficient knowledge of beetles inhabiting these endangered habitats.

The aphid genus Tinocallis Matsumura, 1919 (Hemiptera: Aphididae: Calaphidinae) in central and northern Europe is reviewed; it includes four species. The first records of the Asian elm aphid Tinocallis takachihoensis Higuchi, 1972 are reported from the Czech Republic, Denmark, and Poland. The record in Denmark is the first in Scandinavia. Alate viviparous females and nymphs of T. takachihoensis were collected from Ulmus glabra "Pendula" (the Czech Republic and Poland) and from U. minor (Denmark) in 2017. Tinocallis takachihoensis is the fourth Tinocallis species to be recorded from Poland and

Aim/purpose – This paper aims at determining the role of Poland in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and identifying an alternative course of the trail. However, there are still many variables that can significantly affect the extent of Poland’s participation in BRI. Design/methodology/approach – The paper was based on a literature query and inter- views with six experts of the Polish logistics environment closely connected to the con- cept of the New Silk Road. The interviews and the literature analysis allowed of the authors to define potential scenarios for the course of the New Silk Road.

In western Poland an underground fortification dating from the 1930s is the winter quarters for the largest aggregation of hibernating bats in northern Europe. Although a major threat has been averted, the bats remain vulnerable to disturbance.
