Resumo As narrativas de viagem convidam à leitura por estarem vinculadas a diversas áreas do conhecimento e da sensibilidade, suscitando reflexões, dentre elas, sobre a formação e a propagação de discursos de/sobre viagem. Dentro do universo da literatura de viagem, propõe-se uma leitura transversal de textos que são marcados pela valorização do testemunho. Prioritariamente entendido como prova e fragmento da verdade, o testemunho do típico narrador-viajante adquire, ao longo do tempo, um caráter de encenação. Da mesma forma, a ênfase na viagem como modo de testemunhar os lugares assume a forma de práticas superficializadas. Anunciadas como bens de consumo, as viagens são comercializadas em pacotes “estampados” com imagens-clichê, produzidas para estimular a contemplação fácil e o registro rápido durante percursos padronizados. A forte influência do mercado turístico na conformação da cultura das viagens estimula uma renovação nas tradicionais identidades do viajante, que tendem a ser inspiradas na ideia do viajante-testemunha. As anotações de viagem de Alain de Botton e Claude Lévi-Strauss auxiliam a reflexão.Palavras-chave: viagem, literatura de viagem, mercado turístico, identidade do viajante.AbstractTravel narratives are inviting for the reading because they are linked to several areas of knowledge and sensibility, and bring up reflections, among them, about the structuring and propagation of travel discourse. Inside the universe of travel literature, we propose a transversal reading of the texts that are distinguished by valorization of the testimony. Previously understood as proof and fragment of the truth, the typical traveler-narrator testimony acquires, in time, an ethos of play-acting. In the same way, the emphasis on traveling as a way to witness places takes the shape of superficialized practices. Portrayed as consumer goods, travels are sold as “colorful” packages with cliché images that boost easy admiration and quick registering throughout standard routes. The tourism trade’s strong influence in structuring travel culture boosts a renewal of the traditional traveler identities, usually inspired by the notion of travelers as witnesses. The travel notes from Alain Botton and Claude Lévi-Strauss are helpful on this reflection. Keywords: Travel, travel’s literature, tourism trade, traveler identity.RésuméLes récits de voyage nous invitent à la lecture, en raison de leur liason avec des différends domaines de la connaissance, de la sensibilité et la propagation du discours à propos des voyages. Dans l'univers de la littérature de Voyage, nous proposons une lecture croisée des textes qui mettent en valeur le témoignage du voyageur. Le témoignage type de ce narrateur-voyageur est entendu, la plupart du temps, comme une preuve et/ou morceau de vérité. Alors, au long du temps, il devient une mise en scène du voyage. De même, l'accent mis sur le voyage comme moyen d'appréhender les lieux engendre des habitudes de voyages superficiels. Les voyages, annoncées comme des biens de consommation, sont vendus en " packs " par des images clichés produites afin de stimuler la contemplation et/ou l’inscription facile et rapide dans des voies standardisées. La forte influence du marché du tourisme dans l’élaboration de la culture du voyage stimule un renouvellement des identités traditionnelles du voyageur qui ont tendance à être inspiré par ce narrateur-voyageur. Abstract:
In 1492 Columbus made a non-stop voyage, on the high seas of the Atlantic, between the Canary Islands and an uncertain island off the coast of America, a distance of some 3,100 nautical miles. But there is a strong likelihood that he had earlier traveled on a voyage which may also have been non-stop on the Atlantic high seas and yet been even longer. According to casual references, made in notes apparently either written or authorized by Columbus himself, he had, at an unstated date, seen and perhaps been within the castle of São Jorge da Mina in Guinea. Assuming for the purposes of further discussion that this interpretation of the notes is correct, he had therefore sailed to Mina (Elmina in present-day Ghana), most probably, it is generally thought, between 1482 and 1484, not long after the Portuguese founded the fort. He must have sailed in some capacity aboard a Portuguese vessel, possibly as a trader, if not as a mariner.Although not otherwise recorded, the voyage to Mina is plausible since it occurred during the period of nearly ten years in which Columbus was employed within the Portuguese sphere. Little is known of his activities in this period but it is evidenced that he worked at one stage as a trader and made voyages in the 1470s to the Madeira group, where he resided for a time. When he traveled to America his descriptions of features there were not infrequently in terms of comparisons with features of Guinea, indicating that he was to some extent informed about the latter region and suggesting, perhaps strongly, that he had visited certain parts, as I noted in an earlier paper.

John Lawson's A new voyage to Carolina, an important source document for American colonial natural history, was first printed in 1709 in A new collection of voyages and travels, a two-volume set that also contained travel books translated by John Stevens. Lawson's publishers were leaders in the book trade of early eighteenth century London, and the New voyage is typical of the resurgent popular interest in foreign travel narratives and exotic flora and fauna that began in the late 1600s. The New collection was among the earliest examples of books published in serial instalments or fascicles, a marketing strategy adopted by London booksellers to broaden the audience and increase sales. Analysis of London issues of the New voyage indicates that the 1709, 1711, 1714, and 1718 versions are simply bindings of the original, unsold sheets from the 1709 New collection edition, differing only by new title-pages, front matter, and random stop-press corrections of type-set errors. Lawson's New voyage illustrates important aspects of the British book trade during the hand press period of the early eighteenth century.

Auguste Viatte, professeur franco-suisse de littérature française à l’Université Laval de 1933 à 1949, pionnier de l’histoire des littératures francophones et animateur du mouvement de la France Libre à Québec durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, découvre le Québec lors des fêtes de Noël 1932 : il relate ce premier voyage dans un récit inédit intitulé « Voyage au Canada ». Établi à Québec dès l’été 1933, il transcrit ses premières impressions après son arrivée dans quelques notes et au travers de ses correspondances. Plus de vingt ans après, de retour en Europe, Viatte entreprend pour la quatrième fois de rédiger ses mémoires, entre 1956 et 1957, sur la base des notes accumulées dans son Journal personnel et ses archives, riches en correspondances. Il intitule ses mémoires jamais publiées « Facettes d’une vie » et y consacre plusieurs longs passages à sa découverte du Québec au début des années 1930. La troisième partie de ce récit, appelé Bonheur du Canada, met en scène dans un style littéraire soigné les souvenirs des premiers voyages effectués par Viatte au Québec, et fait mémoire de sa découverte progressive de la Belle Province. Entretemps, la période de vie la plus foisonnante de l’auteur de ce récit a fait nettement évoluer sa vision de la société québécoise. C’est donc avec l’expérience d’un « retour du Québec », ponctuant une longue période d’acculturation et d’engagement dans son pays d’accueil, que Viatte revient sur ses premières découvertes et sentiments de voyageur découvrant cette terre francophone d’Amérique.

Cette étude s'appuie sur des documents autobiographiques insuffisamment exploités jusqu'à leur récente première publication intégrale, et tente d'élucider une période complexe et cruciale : la fin de l'adolescence, notamment les années pendant lesquelles l'étudiant Schumann se donne le surnom de "Hottentot". Elle s'achève avec le choix de la carrière musicale. La première partie est consacrée à la présentation de ces écrits, qui apparaissent comme le témoignage le plus fidèle sur la vie intérieure et la vie quotidienne de leur auteur, malgré leur difficulté due à la forme généralement fragmentaire du récit et au désordre de la notation. Deux tableaux sont élaborés, l'un analytique, l'autre chronologique, qui se veulent des guides utiles pour une lecture du volume I des journaux. L'enquête psychologique et biographique menée dans la seconde partie se fonde sur l'analyse des journaux de 1827 à 1830, et sur leur confrontation avec d'autres sources, dont la correspondance, tout en nécessitant des incursions dans le passé et l'avenir du musicien. Nous nous attachons à reconnaitre et interpréter les signes du conflit intérieur qui marque toute sa jeunesse, à observer son évolution et le processus de maturation qui rend finalement possible une seconde naissance. This study exploits some autobiographical documents insufficiently utilized up to their recent first complete publication, and tries to elucidate a complex and crucial period : the end of adolescence, particularly those years when Schumann as a student gives himself the nick-name "Hottentot". It ends up with his choice of a musical career. The first part develops a representation of those writings, which appear to be the most exact testimony about the interior life and the quotidian life of their author, notwithstanding difficulties caused by the generally fragmentary narrative and the inconsistency of the notation. Two synopsis are presented, one analytical, the other chronological, which aim at providing useful guides to a reading of the volume I of the diaries. The psychological and biographical inquiry in the second part is founded on a survey of the diaries covering the years 1827 to 1830, which are confronted to other source materials, notably the correspondence, and completed by necessary excursions into past and future of Schumann life. We particularly try to identify and interpret the symptoms of that inner conflict which weighed upon his whole youth, to follow its development, and the maturation process which ultimately makes possible a second birth. Schumann, aged twenty, ends up victor in the long fight between prose and poetry

Gustave Flaubert renonce au conventionnel récit de voyage en Orient et se contente de notes prises sur le vif qu'il réserve pour son usage personnel. Ce n'est pas tant son intention littéraire qu'il est intéressant de suivre que son rapport à la réalité et son expérience d'un monde rêvé. Par une observation directe et attentive, l'homme de lettre ajuste aux parcours de son regard et de son écrit des lois de sélection et d'organisation qu'il emprunte aux arts figuratifs classiques ; consciemment ou non, il adopte face au motif un comportement d'artiste et manie le langage comme un peintre manie le pinceau. Aussi, est-il possible de décomposer son énoncé verbal avec des outils proposés par l'approche sémiologique de l'énoncé visuel, où la dimension plastique révèle sa stratégie esthétique et la dimension iconique sa résolution représentative. L'on découvre ainsi une sensibilité particulière à l'égard de la forme et du vrai ; le style individuel de Flaubert se développe à partir d'un intérêt pour la ligne courbe et d'un attrait pour le fait indiciel. L'expérience de ce long voyage de dix-huit mois le confirme dans des certitudes acquises antérieurement ; car son énonciation linguistique, même minimale, l'oblige à matérialiser ses positions artistiques et littéraires.

L'ecriture, qui mele prose et vers latins ou italiens, s'avere contournee et hermetique a souhait. Ce recours aux allusions savantes a souvent gene et rebute la critique : on a voulu lire l'oeuvre comme un recit allegorique et satirique. Notre edition critique propose une lecture objective de cet ouvrage, fondee sur une analyse du contenu (eclaircissement des allusions savantes) et sur une etude des problemes editoriaux (datation, attribution, contexte historique et social).

L’ambition de cette thèse est d’éclairer le processus qui conduit le voyageur à produire un carnet de voyage rassemblant notes graphiques et écrites, photographies et documents. Si cette production plastique est improvisée sur le motif, le voyageur programme en amont le support et se prépare techniquement et mentalement, définissant ainsi sa capacité à capter le réel. Les images créées en voyage par les artistes – de Léonard de Vinci, Albrecht Dürer, William Turner, Eugène Delacroix, Félix Ziem, Paul Gauguin, Zao Wou Ki à, plus récemment, Titouan Lamazou, Georges Wolinski, Michel Montigné, Bertrand De Miollis, Elsie Herberstein, Nicolas Jolivot, et Stéphanie Ledoux – sur feuillet libre ou dans un album, informent sur les stratégies spécifiques de connaissance du pays et de rencontre des habitants. L’étude de leurs moyens et dispositifs de travail sur le terrain, éclaire la quête artistique et spirituelle qui les a mobilisés. Au retour dans l’atelier, l’artiste transforme les informations du voyage à l’aide d’autres savoir-faire techniques et artistiques. Le carnet de voyage est devenu populaire parce que le petit format favorise la liberté d’expression individuelle dans le dispositif du livre, à la fois extime et intime. Pour certains artistes professionnels, ce format conservé dans l’intimité de l’atelier, se révèle être un condensé d’audaces techniques, de premiers jets virtuoses et un compagnon de vie privilégié, qui est aussi à l’origine des œuvres destinées au public. Le carnet de papier adapté au nomadisme, qui stimule la recherche des artistes reconnus, tout comme la pratique spontanée du dessin et de l’écriture, devient à la fois surface et volume, outil et récit, temps et déplacement, travail et résultat. The ambition of this thesis is to elucidate the process that leads the traveller to produce a compilation of graphic and written notes, photographs and documents. If this production is to be carried out during the journey itself, the traveller must think about the materials that will be necessary to the execution of the work, to catch reality. But a certain form of mental preparation is also necessary. The images achieved by travelling artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Albrecht Dürer, William Turner, Eugène Delacroix, Félix Ziem, Paul Gauguin, Zao Wou Ki and, more recently, Titouan Lamazou, Georges Wolinski, Michel Montigné, Bertrand de Miollis, Elsie Herberstein, Stéphanie Ledoux and Nicolas Jolivot, are loose-leaf or in albums, which set out specific strategies aimed at acquiring knowledge about an environment and its inhabitants. The study of the ways and the meanings of producing a travel sketchbook throws light on the spirit of artistic and spiritual inspiration which was the driving force of the work. Back in his or her workshop, the artist retrospectively organises his sketches in the light of his or her experience, thanks to technical and artistic means. The travel sketchbook has become popular because its small format encourages an individual freedom to express within the framework of a book, whether private or intended for disclosure. For some professional artists, this size, which is used and kept secretly at home, proves out to be a summary of sketches and discoveries that will provide material for works, which may be offered to the public. The travel sketchbook is also an accretion of rough drafts, technical demonstrations and insights into its author’s psychological depths. Paper, as a medium adapted to travel, stimulates artistic and literacy research. It is at once plane and volume, instrument and narrative, time and movement, work and achievement. The aim of this thesis is to demonstrate how the travel sketchbook by performing these functions, can give a holographic account of a journey, and can thus constitute a work of art in itself

Abstract:
The aim of this project is to investigate the importance accorded to the personage of the missing woman in two texts by Patrick Modiano: Voyage de noces (1990) and Dora Bruder (1997). Where necessary, allusions to other works will be included in order to showcase contrasting or complimentary depictions of the feminine. As has often been noted by readers and academics, Modiano’s publications contain a strong element of auto-fiction or autobiography. Above all else, it is the memory of his father, Albert Modiano that is invariably revisited. It is possible to argue that the entire body of work, spanning more than four decades is an attempt by Patrick, the son, to come to terms with the influence his father had on his life and the subsequent burden that has been imposed upon him. Curiously, the role and representation of Modiano’s female characters has been largely neglected in critical discourses. I therefore hope to prove that the various depictions of the female figure should not be overlooked in favour of the more obviously visible portrait of the father. Modiano’s heroines are largely inspired by the presence of his mother, or by women who frequented a similar social milieu. In each account, the tragic heroine exerts an implacable hold on the narrator’s existential welfare. However, though some heroines may qualify as “maternal archetypes” this is not always the case. Dora Bruder, especially, reveals the enduring presence of a fraternal theme. In spite of larger, seemingly more universal or transparent motifs that might present themselves, the emotional core of each narrative involves the narrator’s inability to process the inexplicable loss of the heroine. I will argue that the male narrator’s predicament is determined almost entirely by the memory he preserves of the missing woman. This same loss is closely connected to the narrator’s adolescence and to what one might call the end of innocence or youth. Perhaps even more than the protagonist himself, it is the latent presence of a maternal or fraternal “substitute” that must claim responsibility for the haunted quality of Modiano’s literary voice. This project will propose a comprehensive exploration of the different representations of female characters, proving that the importance accorded to the feminine should not be neglected, but rather welcomed as one of the most important aspects of the Nobel laureate’s canon.

Le récit de la mission britannique auprès de Theodore, roi d’Abyssinie, publié à Londres en 1869, n'a jamais été traduit en français auparavant. L'auteur, Hormuzd Rassam, né en Irak, à Mossoul, remplit les fonctions d'assistant du résident politique à Aden lorsque le gouvernement britannique l'envoie, en 1864, en mission spéciale auprès du négus, afin de négocier la libération d'un consul et de deux missionnaires anglais, que le roi a emprisonnés. L'auteur échoue dans sa mission, et passe deux ans aux fers dans la forteresse de Magdala, avant d'être libéré par les troupes de Napier à la fin de la campagne d’Abyssinie. Le récit, justification de son échec, est un ouvrage de polémique sous la forme d'une plaisante relation de voyage, écrite en anglais, pour un public anglais, par un oriental. Comparé aux récits contemporains, anglais et français, sur l’Abyssinie, l'ouvrage de Rassam, malgré son souci de conformisme, est original. Lors de la publication, la critique souligne la bienveillance exceptionnelle avec laquelle l'auteur parle des Abyssins, et son absence de préjugés. On trouve, en fait, une bienveillance comparable chez des voyageurs européens, mais l'attitude de l'oriental, Rassam, ni condescendante, ni paternaliste, se distingue de la leur. La présence dans l'ouvrage du roi Theodore, que les contemporains français et anglais peignent comme un héros épique, ou comme un monstre, ainsi que l'importance donnée dans la composition à l'expression directe, orale ou épistolaire, constituent l'aspect le plus original et le plus intéressant du récit…
The narrative of the British mission to Theodore, king of Abyssinia, published in 1869, has never been translated into French previously. The author, Hormuzd Rassam, an iraki born in Mosul, is first assistant to the political resident in Aden, when he is sent by the British government, in 1864, as a special envoy, to king Theodore of Abyssinia to negociate the liberation of three British citizens, a consul and two missionaries, detained by the Negus. Rassam fails in his mission, and spends two years in chains in the fortress-prison of Magdala ; he is liberated by the British forces at the end of the Abyssinian campaign. Compared to other works on Abyssinia published at the time in England and France, Rassam's narrative is original. The critics underline the author's extremely favourable views on Abyssinian people, and his absence of prejudice. Rassam's attitude, neither condescendent nor paternalistic, differs from that of European travellers of the period. Les journaux des militaires français engagés dans la pacification du Vietnam (1885-1900) ne reprennent pas les stéréotypes du discours colonial. Les manuels scolaires de la Troisième République exaltent au contraire la conquête de l’Indochine et les progrès qui, selon eux, s’ensuivent nécessairement. Il en est de même de la littérature pour la jeunesse qui met de plus l’accent sur l’environnement naturel indochinois propice à tous les rêves et à toutes les aventures. Mais l’opinion publique française a sans doute été avant tout marquée par les nombreuses expositions coloniales où la part des divers pays d’Indochine est de plus en plus importante et culmine à Paris avec la grande exposition coloniale internationale de 1931. C’est notamment dans ce contexte qu’émerge, par delà la prééminence longtemps postulée de l’art khmer, un discours patrimonial nouveau sur la diversité et la spécificité des arts indochinois (annamite, cham, khmer et laotien) qui constituera, avec l’aide des sociétés savantes de la colonie (Ecole Française d’Extrême Orient, Société des Amis du Vieux Hué) l’une des bases du discours touristique colonial naissant. Mais ces représentations de l'Indochine pacifiée, engagée sur la voie de la civilisation et du progrès, sont vite sapées par le flux d'informations concernant les soulèvements populaires vietnamiens de 1930 et leur répression. Les voix des Vietnamiens de France en nombre croissant (étudiants, travailleurs, intellectuels et militants indépendantistes) et celles de grandes figures du reportage (André Viollis convergent alors et ébranlent alors toute l'imagerie coloniale. Toute une production littéraire francophone (pour l'essentiel romanesque et se présentant volontiers comme "indochinoise") avait de longue date -de Jules Boissière à Pouvourville et à Farrère - rompu avec l'imagerie coloniale et son optimisme : satire du "Tonkin où l'on s'amuse" (Pouvourville) et des milieux coloniaux (Farrère, les Civilisés, 1905), constat d'un irréductible attachement des vietnamiens à leur indépendance (Jules Boissière)
The diaries of French soldiers participated in Vietnam’s pacification (1885-1900) did not follow the colonial stereotype perception. . Textbooks of the Third Republic in contrast, exalt the Indochinese conquest and believe in future necessary developments. This is also found in young adult literature which puts more emphasis on Indochinese natural environment for all dreams and adventures. However, the French public opinion was properly primarily marked by numerous colonial expositions where presence of Indochinese countries was more and more important, at peak with the Great international colonial exposition in Paris 1931. Particularly, a new heritage perception on diversity and specificity of Indochinese Art emerges (Annamite, Cham, Khmer and Lao) where Khmer art was dominant for a long time. This perception, with helps of colony’s learning societies (Ecole Française d’Extrême Orient, Société des Amis du Vieux Hué) is one of the major contribution of colonial tourism. However, these representations of pacified Indochina, emberked on the path of civilization and developments, are undetermined quickly by the flow of information about Vietnamese uprising in 1930 and their repressions. The voices of increasing number of Vietnamese in france (students, workers, intellectuals and independant activits) and well-known reporters (Andrée Viollis) then converge and tremble together one coloniale image. Any work of Francophone literature (for essentially romances and considered authors 'Indochinese") for a long time, since Jules Boissière to Pouvourville and until Farrère, has been constrasted with colonial societies (Farrère, Les Civilisés, 1905), finding of an irrefutable attachement between Vietnameseand their independence (Jules Boissière)

“Voyage en Siberie” describes a journey through Russia carried out by Jean Chappe d'Auteroche to observe the passage of Venus across the Sun. Besides the description of this phenomenon the book contains the author’s travel notes and study of the Russian political, historical, geographic and military conditions in the middle of the 18th century. “Voyage en Siberie” was accompanied by the cycle of illustrations performed by Jean-Baptiste Le Prince. As these works were among the first examples of the costume images on the Russian subject, they became crucial in the career of the artist who is considered to be the creator of “Russerie” in French art. This paper discusses the nature of the text and illustrations developing according to the logic of ideas of the Enlightenment. The author intends to show that although Chappe d'Auteroche and Le Prince worked together on the book they had different visions of the problem.

Abstract The paper presents a decision-support tool for maritime operations in Arctic seas. This tool targets at improving the safety and fuel efficiency of existing and future cargo vessels that are designed to operate in Arctic and in open water conditions. It is achieved by smart voyage planning using meteorological, oceanographic and ice forecasting. A single-objective optimization for minimizing the fuel consumption in various scenarios of Arctic transits is established, with the transit time and the safety as the two major constraints. The tool is implemented in an in-house Matlab code, which is based on Dijkstra’s algorithm, a grid-based approach that aims at finding the most cost-efficient path connecting any chosen nodes in a given grid. Results from case studies along the Northern Sea Route indicate that the tool generates appropriate routes in ice-infested Arctic waters. The fuel consumption accounting for ice-induced extra resistance is optimized and the risk of collision with icebergs has been considered.

Abstract A modern ship is fitted with numerous sensors and Data Acquisition Systems (DAQs) each of which can be viewed as a data collection source node. These source nodes transfer data to one another and to one or many centralized systems. The centralized systems or data interpreter nodes can be physically located onboard the vessel or onshore at the shipping data control center. The main purpose of a data interpreter node is to assimilate the collected data and present or relay it in a concise manner. The interpreted data can further be visualized and used as an integral part of a monitoring and decision support system. This paper presents a simple data processing framework based on big data analytics. The framework uses Principal Component Analysis (PCA) as a tool to process data gathered through in-service measurements onboard a ship during various operational conditions. Weather hindcast data is obtained from various sources to account for environmental loads on the ship. The proposed framework reduces the dimensionality of high dimensional data and determines the correlation between data variables. The accuracy of the model is evaluated based on the data recorded during the voyage of a ship.

We have not yet emerged into a post-COVID world. The future is fluid and unknown. As the Academy morphs under pressure, as design practitioners and educators attempt to respond to the shifting world – in the M?ori language, Te Ao Hurihuri – how might we manage such changes? There is an indigenous precedent of drawing upon the past to assist with present and future states – as the proverb ka mua ka muri indicates, ‘travelling backwards into the future,’ viewing the past spread out behind us, as we move into the unknown. Indigenous academics often draw inspiration from extant traditional viewpoints, reframing them as methodologies, and drawing on metaphor to shape solutions. Some of these frameworks, such as Te Whare Tapa Wh?, developed as a health-based model, have been adapted for educational purposes. Many examples of metaphor drawn from indigenous ways of thinking have also been adapted as design or designrelated methodologies. What is it about the power of metaphor, particularly indigenous ways of seeing, that might offer solutions for both student and teacher? One developing propositional model uses the Pacific voyager as exemplar for the student. Hohl cites Polynesian navigation an inspirational metaphor, where “navigating the vast Pacific Ocean without instruments, only using the sun, moon, stars, swells, clouds and birds as orienting cues to travel vast distances between Polynesian islands.”1 However, in these uncertain times, it becomes just as relevant for the academic staff member. As Reilly notes, using this analogy to situate two cultures working as one: “like two canoes, lashed together to achieve greater stability in the open seas … we must work together to ensure our ship keeps pointing towards calmer waters and to a future that benefits subsequent generations.”2 The goal in formulating this framework has been to extract guiding principles and construct a useful, applicable structure by drawing from research on two existing models based in Samoan and Hawaiian worldviews, synthesised via related M?ori concepts. Just as we expect our students to stretch their imaginations and challenge themselves, we the educators might also find courage in the face of the unknown, drawing strength from indigenous storytelling.
